Poll: Which movie are you seeing this weekend? We all know nothing goes better with a long holiday weekend filled with relatives than a nice long sit in a movie theater where no one’s allowed to talk, let alone bicker. Thankfully – pun intended – there were four movies to choose from this Turkey Day, although we can’t say that critics were appreciative of all of them. Kanye, Nicki Minaj could have strong first week salesThey've teamed up together on a single for his latest project, and now the pair stand poised to take over the charts. Billboard is reporting that rappers Kanye West and Nicki Minaj are projected to have a big week with their respective albums. West's "My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy" could sell as many as 550,000 units by November 28, which would see him crowned No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Meanwhile, Minaj's debut album, "Pink Friday," is reportedly on track to sell more than 400,000. According to Billboard, such an achievement could mark the best sales week for a female hip-hop artist since Nielsen SoundScan began tracking sales in 1991. If she does well enough, Minaj could topple the record currently held by Lauryn Hill, whose album "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" launched with 423,000 sold in 1998. Brendan Fraser's play closes after a weekHe may have defeated "The Mummy," but it seems Brendan Fraser is no match for the Great White Way. Just a week after making his Broadway debut with the official opening of the comedy "Elling," the production is already set to close. "Elling," about two mental patients (Fraser and "True Blood" star Denis O'Hare) being reintegrated into society, began previews on November 2 and opened to mostly mixed reviews on November 21. By the time the show closes on November 28, it will have played 22 previews and 9 regular performances, reports Playbill.com. "Coming to Broadway is the fulfillment of a life's aspiration for me. I'm very excited," the 41-year-old actor, whose previous stage experience includes starring in a London production of "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," told Playbill in October. Billy Bob Thornton: We're making the worst movies ever"Sling Blade" star Billy Bob Thornton has turned mudslinger and is lashing out at Hollywood for churning out horrible movies. “In our current state of affairs, especially in the entertainment business, we’re living in a time when we’re making - in my humble opinion - the worst movies in history," says the Oscar winner, according to London's Telegraph. Thornton, 55, blames the popularity of video games for the abundance of films featuring violent characters, including vampires. Elton John might sing at upcoming royal weddingSir Elton John, a favorite of the late Princess Diana, has revealed that he could perform at Prince William's upcoming wedding to Kate Middleton, reports the Daily Mail - but possibly not in the way you'd think. Asked during a recent Radio 2 interview if he would be singing at the April 29, 2011, ceremony at London's Westminster Abbey, John replied, "I probably am," before joking, "I'll probably be busking outside." The 63-year-old superstar was good friends with William's late mother and famously performed a reworked version of his classic "Candle in the Wind" at her 1997 funeral. Black Eyed Peas score Super Bowl performanceThe NFL has scored a touchdown with their selection for this year's Super Bowl halftime entertainment: the Black Eyed Peas! "They could have picked anybody," band member will.i.am tells Rolling Stone of the NFL's decision. "But it says something that they picked us." The Black Eyed Peas are releasing a new album, "The Beginning," on Tuesday, November 30. Fans who buy the CD could have a chance to see the group's February 6 live performance at the Super Bowl XLV halftime show at Cowboys Stadium in North Texas. According to the Hollywood Reporter, the Super Bowl gig is considered a coup for entertainers because it reaches an enormous audience. Last year, more than 153 million people tuned in to see The Who's halftime show. |
