'Medium' ends its five-year run

It looks like CBS's supernatural series "Medium" is going to the great beyond. In a statement on the show's official Facebook page, series creator Glenn Gordon Caron announced that the TV thriller was ending its five-year run.

"It's true," wrote Caron. "Allison Dubois will dream her last dream on Fri 1/21. In what we believe will be a series defining episode, Allison and her family will stare destiny in the eye. And destiny will not blink."

"Medium" stars Patricia Arquette as a psychic whose visions help the Phoenix police department solve crimes. The series originated on NBC in 2005 but was rescued by CBS after it was canceled last year, according to TVGuide.com.

Last month, CBS announced that it was cutting the show's run from 22 episodes to a clearly unlucky 13.

Chris Brown praised for probation behavior

Singer Chris Brown was praised for sticking to his probation during a progress hearing at an L.A. courtroom yesterday, according to MTV News.

"Of all probationers I've ever had, and I've had thousands of probationers, no one has ever done a better or more consistent job than you have,"Judge Patricia Schnegg told Brown, who was sentenced to 180 days of community labor and required to attend domestic-violence counseling following his February 2009 attack on then-girlfriend Rihanna.

"I really want to commend you for taking responsibility," said Schnegg, "and for actually working diligently to complete all of the things the court has required of you."

'Paranormal Activity 3' slated for October 2011

Apparently theatergoers are quite comfortable on the edge of their seats. That explains not only the box office success of "Paranormal Activity 2" but also the recent announcement that there will be a "Paranormal Activity 3."

According to Dread Central, Paramount Pictures has confirmed that a third installment of the spooky supernatural story is in the works and should be ready to frighten fans on October 21, 2011.

The decision to extend the "Paranormal" franchise comes as a no-brainer for Paramount. "Paranormal Activity 2," released in October, has taken in over $150 million worldwide and received mostly favorable reviews, while the first "Paranormal Activity" film, released in 2007, earned $183 million and a cult following.

Considering the success of those two flicks, it seems the third movie has more than a ghost of a chance of being a huge hit.

Raven Symone, Pierce Brosnan land TV gigs

Expect to see some very familiar faces on the small screen in the very near future.

Deadline.com reports that former "Remington Steele" star Pierce Brosnan, whose series ran from 1982 – 87, is planning to appear in a still-untitled investigative thriller about a private eye specializing in international crisis intervention. The ex-James Bond won't play the lead in the series, but is expected to take on a smaller role.

Disney darling Raven Symone will headline ABC Family's "The Great State of Georgia," starring as Georgia, a curvy girl from the South who heads to New York City to pursue her dream of being an actress. One problem: Her ex-boyfriend wants her to come back home. "Georgia" will be Symone's first TV series since "That's So Raven" ended in 2007, reports Deadline.

In other casting news, Angela Bassett, who appeared on the final season of "ER," has joined ABC's upcoming drama project "One Police Plaza." The series will star Bassett as New York City's first female commissioner.
