Billy Ray Cyrus to host TLC's 'Homecoming'

Despite being in the midst of a divorce, Billy Ray Cyrus hasn't forgotten the importance of family. The 49-year-old singer is making that clear as host of TLC's upcoming "Homecoming," a reality series that will chronicle the surprise reunions of members of the military with their loved ones.

"'Homecoming' extends TLC’s focus on authentic and relatable life experiences," says Eileen O'Neill, president and general manager of TLC. "We look forward to honoring our service men and women, and celebrating in the unmatched moment when they are reunited with their families."

TLC has ordered three hour-long episodes of the heartwarming series, which was inspired by online and local-news segments in which soldiers surprise their friends and family back home.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the premiere date for "Homecoming" has not yet been set.

Upcoming "Homecoming," a reality series hosted by Billy Ray Cyrus

WHY???? Isn't there some talented ex-military person who really experienced this first hand, available? Billy Ray Cyrus.....Puh-lease spare us. Hopefully, the phoney reality shows will soon go away and perhaps some really informative television will take their place. When you start having people like B.R. host these things it is time to end pretend reality.

Being a Military wife for 19yrs and 5 deployments under my families belt I do think a Reunion show is going to far. It's a private moment for us family members. Of course it just a show for TLC to get us to watch. Not me. And if you are going to do it which they will Toby Keith is better. He's a true American!!! Love my military family. God Bless

I guess he needs a new meal ticket now that Miley is 18 and he can't legally run her life or career anymore.

Our troops deserve better than him though.

BRC will be great, I am tired of people picking on him. I am sure if he was a liberal, it would ne fine.
      So glad I am Independent.

I am for anything that honors our service men and women. To a certain extent i agree that it would b better to keep reunions private but if there wouldnt be a reunion otherwise then i say bravo TLC and B.R. Cyrus and i bet the families will feel the same way. God bless TLC, Billy, and most of all our beloved men and women serving our country and giving their lives so we can remain safe and free.

  12. Joe from CT, not Lieberman

Why not. They gave a show to Caribou Barbie. What ever happened to actual educational programming on TLC? Instead we get these pseudo reality shows that gave us the Goslins, that is giving Palin another platform and now giving this has-been with the bimbo-in-training daughter the opportunity to show his lack of depth!

I can see you're a liberal thru and thru. I think it's funny people are mad Palin has a show, good for her.
      Glad I am an Independent.

Why does everything that should be personal have to be considered entertainment? My two sons in Iraq think this is a horrible idea for a show. They want their homecoming to be private, as it should be.
    NO MORE REALITY SHOWS, PLEASE.

Maybe yours does but I am sure others will think otherwise. We would like to honor them.

Is this the best they can do for our servicemen and women? Billy Ray Cyrus?
potalpunk- Achy Breaky Heart is like the Macharena- or the Hokey Pokey- it was a fad- stunt. I cannot name you another song of his at all- not one. He is fmous for a fad and being " lucky enough " to be Miley's father- that's it. Tobey Keith would have been a much better choice- he's always doing something for the military.

BRC will be great, quit picking on him. His "Some Gave All" was about the military and he did a "DOC" episode
honoring the military as well. Give him a break.

Very interesting. The article is about Billy Ray, where is his picture or is Miley still outshining him despite the fact this is his job.

I am still a fan – and wish him all the best. In his heart he is just a country singer. I wish he would focus more on that and forget all this Hollywood hype. He never got the credit he was due in Nashville for his singing and song writing ability. Then he took a back seat so his daughter Miley could take front and center.

Billy Ray is the man!!!! Don't kid yourself, it takes a lot of moxie to become as famous as he is. Not all art has to be museum quality, pop-art has its place and achy-breaky is a classic.
