Hootie from the Blowfish tops the country chartsHootie & the Blowfish are celebrating their 25th anniversary, just as their lead singer is hitting the top of the country charts. Darius Rucker’s new album, “Charleston, SC 1966,” debuted at No. 1 on the Country Albums chart and at No. 2 on the Billboard 200. It also sold more than 100,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielson SoundScan. Rucker formed Hootie & the Blowfish in 1985 with guitarist Mark Bryan when Bryan discovered Rucker singing in the shower at the University of South Carolina. Now Columbia, South Carolina, is celebrating the group’s start with a permanent memorial, according to The State. |
