MTV's 'Skins' to premiere in JanuaryIf the Parents Television Council thought that "Glee" photo shoot in GQ was racy, wait till they see the buzzed-about new trailer for MTV's upcoming teen series "Skins." Based on a hit British series of the same name, the dramedy takes a gritty look at the lives of a group of nine teenage friends. The UK show – which featured "Slumdog Millionaire" star Dev Patel and "A Single Man" actor Nicholas Hoult – was packed with sex, drugs and nudity, and judging by the trailer that's hit the web, the MTV version will be equally edgy. In the promo, one character is seen phoning up his female classmates – one of whom is in the bathtub – and urging them to help his 16-year-old pal lose his virginity. Elsewhere, characters are shown popping pills and partying in a warehouse.
"The kids of SKINS will crush hearts and burn brain cells while fearlessly confronting every obstacle head on... or slightly off," promises the show's website. Expect plenty of drama – on screen and in the headlines – when "Skins" premieres on MTV in January 2011.

MTV does suck! I would watch it all the time from jr. high up to now in married life. It would be my way of staying on top of music or music current events. I remember the first the real world-I'm dating myself..lol When the cast mates were actually friends. MTV has to stop these trashy shows. Let's see stuff like musicians entertaining our troops, positive music infused projects, concerts, new releases or music in the community. I know I sound like an old fart. But, really, really MTV lets see some better programming. If I had kids they definitely would not be watching. I would talk about the original MTV and how it changed to trash tv like fox reality.
I'm actually excited. I can finally watch it on TV and not online. This is like comparing The Office on BBC compared to the TBS one, the BBC one is obviously better and wittier but that's not on my basic cable. This will be perfect, I'm excited 😀
Even though when they find and a Naomi and Emily nothing can compare to their beauty. UNF.
MTV should go back to music and forget about trying to be everything to everyone.
It's the exactly the same as the British version the only difference is the accents

I agree, nothing but garbage on MTV these days. I wish they would go back to the days when Remote Control was played, now that was a show I enjoyed.
As usual America television (aka MTV) will screw up an amazingly fabulous British show. Why remake it just show the original version???
Yay, just what we need! More absolute vapid TRASH on the brainwash box! I don't have a tv and it's nice to know that I'm not missing anything. Read more books, people! Tv can never engage you the way a good book can. Fake digitized images have nothing on language. A picture is worth a thousand words? Well, a word is worth a million pictures.
And as for it's effect on young people? It's warping them. Stop killing my generation, I say.
Didn't MTV use to stand for music television? It did when I was a teen and I didn't need to watch crappy shows to enjoy it. All MTV has on these days is trashy shows. Am I really suprised they're doing another one? Unfortunately no.

I was thinking the same thing. MTV sucks, and has nothing but trash on tv. I can't even enjoy music anymore because there is no way I am staying up till 3am just to catch some music. MTV has become really bad. Fake crappy reality shows no quality.
I absolutley have NO confidence, that this show will hold up or even come close to being as captivating or interesting than the original Brit. series. I feel the character dynamics will be missed [Brit cast was lovely] and social issues will come up short. This show is too advanced for american [MTV] viewers. If they want to bring Skins to the US i suggest airing the original series. I hope "American Skins" tanks.
I agree. Same with Coupling. The British version is great–hilarious, edgy, like a raunchy version of Seinfeld crossed with Friends. The US version was absolutely horrible.

IVE SEEN THIS ON STREEMING ON NETFLIX BUT I TRYED TO WATCH IT BUT THEY TALKED ENGLISH REALLY WEIRD
