‘Mad Men’s’ finale a journey to TomorrowlandEditor’s Note: This post contains spoilers for the Sunday, October 17 episode of AMC’s “Mad Men.” Well, that’s that. What did you think? Were you surprised? I may or may not have needed a good five minutes to pick my jaw up off the floor. Let’s get started! Creepy Glen dropped by and Carla reluctantly permitted him to say goodbye to Sally before the Draper-Francis clan relocated to Rye. It was sweet and a little sad, and I’m a bit disappointed that he didn’t ask for a lock of Sally’s hair as a souvenir. The actor who plays Glen is show creator Matthew Weiner’s son, so I’m almost certain we’ll see him in seasons to come. Whether or not he’ll be any less creepy is anybody’s guess. In fact, I hope he’s even more peculiar – yeah, I said it! For those of us on Team Anyone But Betty, you’ll be delighted to know that she was on the receiving end of the finale’s “Oh snap!” moments. Upon running into Glen as he was leaving, he called her out for being a miserable wretch before he stormed off. Incensed, Betty fired Carla, who managed to work in a couple of digs before leaving the employ of the biggest rhymes-with-witch in Ossining. 'The Hobbit' to begin production in early 2011J.R.R. Tolkien fans can rejoice – the movie version of "The Hobbit" is actually happening and is expected to start filming early next year. According to a joint statement released to The Hollywood Reporter by New Line, MGM and Warner Brothers, "The two films based on 'The Hobbit' are now greenlit and will begin principal photography in February 2011, under the direction of Peter Jackson." While the movie is expected to shoot in New Zealand, where the mega-hit "Lord of the Rings" trilogy was filmed, a labor dispute between Jackson and New Zealand Actors' Equity and SAG might require the production to move elsewhere. Meanwhile, Deadline.com reports that Ian McKellan and Andy Serkis are expected to reprise their roles as Gandalf and Gollum, while "Hot Fuzz" star Martin Freeman is rumored to be attached to the role of Bilbo Baggins. 'Boardwalk Empire': Lucy is certainly no MargaretWelcome back “Boardwalk Empire” fans. In last week's blog, I found a moment or two (okay, so it was more like five) to wax poetic on the subject of my affinity for the widow Margaret Schroeder. Since the show began, this character (played masterfully by Kelly Macdonald) has been an increasingly intriguing wrinkle in Nucky's freshly-pressed world. Well, as of this week's episode, "Nights in Ballygran," I should probably leave some space on this blog for your hand claps and high-fives because Margaret was absolutely magnificent. Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz welcome baby boyAlicia Keys is singing the praises of being a first-time mom. The 12-time Grammy winner delivered Egypt Daoud Dean, her son with husband Swizz Beatz, on October 14 in New York City, and recently took to Twitter to gush about her latest project. "There is no word to properly describe LOVE, to describe BLISS, to express a FEELING like this!!!" 29-year-old Keys tweeted to her followers on October 17. "Thank U 4 your love, support & prayers!" Kim Kardashian: Too old to pose nude againTake a good long look at those nude pictures of Kim Kardashian in the November issue of W because it could be the last time she appears nude altogether. "I don't know [if I'll pose nude again]," the "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" star, who sports only a coat of silver paint for W's Art Issue, told Us Weekly. "I'm too old for that now...I wanted to get it all out of my system before I turned 30." But this isn't the first time that Kardashian - who marks her milestone birthday on October 21 - has threatened to stop flashing her flesh. In September, she told Allure magazine that she regretted peeling off for Playboy in 2007 because she wasn't "in the best shape of my life." Neil Patrick Harris welcomes twinsNeil Patrick Harris has just taken on his most challenging role to date: fatherhood. The "How I Met Your Mother" star announced over the weekend that he and partner David Burtka, 35, welcomed twins into their family, and there have been quite a few teary eyes around their home ever since. "Babies!! On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold," the actor tweeted on October 15. "All of us are happy, healthy, tired, and a little pukey." |
