Neil Patrick Harris welcomes twins

Neil Patrick Harris has just taken on his most challenging role to date: fatherhood.

The "How I Met Your Mother" star announced over the weekend that he and partner David Burtka, 35, welcomed twins into their family, and there have been quite a few teary eyes around their home ever since.

"Babies!! On 10/12, Gideon Scott and Harper Grace entered the Burtka-Harris fold," the actor tweeted on October 15. "All of us are happy, healthy, tired, and a little pukey."

And perhaps a little frazzled. Two days later, Harris, 37, revealed that he was still adjusting to the babies' bawling.

"Youngsters. They cry a lot," he wrote. "I thought it was just a long bit that they were doing. I keep saying, 'Annnnd, scene!'... but nothing happens."

But "How I Met Your Mother" co-star Alyson Hannigan, 36, told People magazine she has watched Harris interact with her 19-month-old daughter Satyana and says there's no question that he and Burtka will excel at their new gig.

"Without a doubt they will be wonderful dads who are going to love their little babies so much," she said. "Those are going to be two lucky babies."

While I'm not going to pass any judgment on this couple bringing raising children, I'm still curious as far as how the babies were conceived in the first place. Is it normal for a parent to give up twins for adoption?

    Good for them!

On another note, I don't think it's possible for them to look more adorable together. They look so happy!

A political angle- Since April with the oil spill, I sensed that the

contamination was symbolic of the corrosion and poisoning of America's

optimism. I bring it up because I see this connected to the 2010

election with the fear and anger in voter's wallets. People are

turning their backs on who they believed in two years ago. Gut

I was raised by a lesbian mother and her partner and you know what? I had a wonderful and loving upbringing. My father was a drug addict and an abuser. I suppose my mother should have stayed with him, then my life would have been moral and "right". Get a clue bigots. Love comes in all forms and if you think you are somehow better than those of LGBT community because you're straight, you're flat out wrong. You should stop worrying about others are living their lives and worry about the hatred brewing in your heart. That's a blackness only you can remove. I feel sorry for you and pray you can come to love your neighbor as God has asked of you.
Congratulations to the new Dads and to the two very lucky and very wanted little boys who have a new and wonderful life to look to now.

I don't care what any of you haters say, I'm so happy for them! They've wanted children for a long time, and I know those babies will be fiercely loved. It doesn't matter if a child has two dads or just one, as long as he or she is raised in a loving family, who cares?

And PS, my dad's gay, and I think he's the best dad in the world! 🙂

Well it's so sad that people think being gay is ok, it's not cause it states that plainly in the BIBLE. Bringing up children in this confussed world is hard enough but when you have gay's trying to make something normal that's not just does not mix at all. I'm sorry I know there are a lot of gay's in this world but that does not mean it's morally right and God DOES NOT APPROVE no matter what you all say....plain and very simple it's just wrong

I'd rather see a child/children welcomed by a loving gay couple than a psycho straight couple. Witness what happened with that poor little kid in North Carolina, most likely done away with by her stepmom, who met her dad over the internet. These children were wanted, and will be well taken care of.

I don't see how any kid can grow up and be normal if they have only 2 daddys or 2 mommys let me guess you will expect them to be gay too. It doesn't matter what mindset some of you have about some straight people it doesn't mean that we all beat our kids or let preist do things to them. You all need to get a clue!!

Congrats!!!!! I'm an MSW with 23 years in the field and I wish some of my clients had had two stable individuals in their lives. For myself, I was a child raised by a single mom, I wish I would have had a dad that was as loving and committed to parenting as these two appear to be. If we professionals just look at what is best for these two infants than why should anyone care what gender they are? My best to this family.

    • WOW

Well Bes, you said it right there: You wish your father was around, not some other woman. In order for a child to develop normally you need a mother AND a father. This is why children of single-parent households do have difficulty. You cannot have a mother and a chicken. A father and a postage stamp. Three mothers and a goat. It just does NOT WORK. Studies prove this as well if you care to even research it but I am sure you are too stubborn to accept facts.

Strong names coming from two limp-wrist parents. Yeah, they will turn out normal.

I can't wait for 15 years from now when all of these kids born of gay parents are doing drugs and drinking because their parents were too selfish to teach them morals and what a NATURAL relationship is like.

Congrats to the fathers. And please moonshine, are you serious. Like straight parents are teaching morals. Most of us are being raised by straight parents and we have 50% divorce, many addictions, illigitimate children left and right. Nurturing loving environments can happen with all types of parents.

I am sure they will be fine parents , but when NPH asks that the press respect his privacy, than continues to "tweet" about the kids, his request becomes silly. If he wants privacy for his children, than keep all of it "private' You can't pick and choose with the press....they won't abide by that

EW, thanks for making the social debate so wonderfully clear. "Morals," as you exemplify them, are expressed through judgmentalism, intolerance, rudeness, and hostility; those you deem "immoral," such as Neil Patrick Harris and his partner, are "immoral" because of their love, their partnership, their loyalty and their emphasis on family. (Pssst.. hint: you've got it backwards.)
