Susan Boyle cancels 'DWTS' performance

Susan Boyle must be singing the blues now that she's been forced to cancel a second major U.S. television appearance.

The 49-year-old "Britain's Got Talent" sensation was set to debut a new song from her upcoming second album on tonight's episode of "Dancing With the Stars," but had to bow out due to illness.

"Her doctor advised her not to sing due to a severe throat infection," her rep told People of Boyle, who fell ill while traveling from her native Scotland to Los Angeles. "Susan is very upset at letting her fans down. Their continued support means so much to her."

Boyle also had to back out of her spot on "America's Got Talent" at the last minute in September after she was unable to secure the rights to perform Lou Reed's song, "Perfect Day."

    Susan Boyle's initial appearance on the talent show fired public imagination when her modest stage introduction and thick speaking accent left audience, viewers and judges alike unprepared for the power and expression of her mezzo-soprano voice. Before she had finished the song's opening phrase a standing ovation for Boyle had erupted.`
