Behind the Scenes on 'Showbiz Tonight': The blunder down under

We debated for more than an hour in our morning meeting today over what would be the most provocative stories to talk about on “Showbiz Tonight."

Senior Writer Rob Melstein and I thought that Britney Spears’ big return on “Glee” was the hottest story of the day, but Executive Producer David Levine said you can’t ignore the heat around Sarah Palin on “Dancing With the Stars."

Bristol did just survive another night on “Dancing,” so Dave argued that you have to wonder if Sarah Palin’s presence in the ballroom helped Bristol avoid elimination. And what about “boo-gate?” Was Sarah Palin actually booed on the show? The truth is out!

But, as Rob and I argued, you also can’t ignore the fact that Britney is back big time. As Rob put it, “Britney is queen” of the comebacks right now, especially if you compare her to former party girl cohorts, Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton.

While Britney just showcased her greatest hits on a huge hit show, Lindsay’s pre-rehab moments were just caught on camera. Lindsay was photographed casually reading a book called “The Power of Rest,” and most of the staff agreed that the photo looks a little on the posed side. We’ll definitely show you the photo today. Meanwhile, Paris Hilton was just banned from Japan after she was charged with cocaine possession! We're wondering if Lindsay and Paris could learn a thing or two from Britney’s big comeback.

Have you seen the outrageous oops on “Australia’s Next Top Model” when the host announced the wrong winner? It’s being called “the blunder down under" and this blunder is catching fire today! Was it all just a big publicity stunt? We'll cover that and more live at 5 p.m. ET today on HLN.

And remember, we're still TV's most provocative entertainment news show seven days a week at 11 p.m. ET/PT!

Watch Showbiz Tonight Weekdays Exclusively at 11PM ET on HLN.

The hostess may have made a mistake but if you look on the faces of the models, they knew she did as soon as she said it. That leads me to think they knew who the winner was before the show is aired!

The host of Australia's Next Top Model Sarah Murdoch is the daughter in law of owner of Fox News Rupert Murdoch.
