Chris Brown praised for behavior on probationSo far so good for singer Chris Brown’s probation. CNN affiliate KABC reports that Brown received the thumbs up in Los Angeles on Thursday from Judge Patricia M. Schnegg during his fourth progress hearing. The singer was sentenced to five years probation and ordered to perform 180 days of community service and attend domestic violence counseling after pleading guilty to assaulting then-girlfriend singer Rihanna. “You’re doing very well on probation,” the judge told Brown. “You’re doing a great job.” Brown attended the hearing with his lawyer, Mark Geragos, but did not speak.

I agree he should have a second chance but knowin ppl, its hard to want to after what he did to Rihana. Its always hard to forgive.

I am in no way condoning chris' actions on that night, however rihanna is no angel....she was asked if she provoked him, and her response was "EVEN IF I DID DOES THAT MAKE IT OK?" which to me is an admission of guilt. There was no other signs from mutual friends or otherwise that indicates that he was continuously abusive towards her....and its wrong for anybody to judge him based on ONE incident...ONLY GOD can judge anybody, she used this situation to throw him under the bus for her own professional gain and still failed in record sales...if he was so much of a monster im sure GOD would not have worked in his professional favor over hers...he's apart of a number ONE movie, and so is his record despite what the media did to prevent his sales, overall good STILL prevails...and yes i agree with the judge for giving credit where credit is due, and for Chris not abusing his celebrity status to get out of his legal responbilities such as Lindsay L, Paris H, etc...so the rest of you all sit n back judging CHRIS BROWN with your comments it didnt stop what GOD had for him then and it wont stop him now!!
It's only a matter of time before we see that temper again...

I know what he did wasn't right but I still believe there is more to the story than what we know. I believe she is capable of a lot more drama than we believe. I believe she hit that man and set him off. That doesn't make what he did right, but if you can't take the heat, keep your hands to yourself. But, he needs to be forgiven and we need to move on.

ENOUGH with the Chris Brown bashing. The boy made a very BIG mistake in judgement out of anger. He was YOUNG and IMMATURE. BOTH Rihana and Chris were in an UNHEALTHY relationship and both of them had serious issues stemming from being YOUNG, IMMATURE, RECKLESS and FAMOUS!!
It does NOT make Chris a BAD guy FOREVER. AND he should NOT be punished forever if he is TRULY making every attempt to correct his mistake. NO ONE in this blog is without his/her own faults and shortcomings, we ALL make mistakes.
Putting your hands on a woman/man is NEVER acceptable. Chris is NOT the first young man who has acted out of line and Rihana is also to BLAME for being in a relationship that is NOT healthy or GOOD for her!! A LOT of young girls today ALLOW this type of behavior from their boyfriends based on their lack of self-worth and self-esteem. I KNOW, I'm a doctor and I see it ALL the time and I hear ALL the stories from these young ladies and young men. Majority of the young ladies I see continue to make EXCUSES for the men who are using them as a punching bag over and over!! They BLAME themselves for the abuse or try to justify the abuse. In some cases, it's the young LADIES who "eggs on" the arguments out of jealousy and vindictiveness. YES, there are some girls/women who are just plain VINDICTIVE. Majority of you don't SEE both sides of the equation. The guy is often times the VICTIM!!! But we don't hear about those cases because it doesn't fit the profile society has set.
NO YOUNG lady or woman should make excuses or ALLOW any man/or young man to hit on them. End of Story. By allowing it to happen you give the abuser total POWER and CONTROL!!
If Chris Brown is making EVERY attempt to rectify his mistake, then I commend him for doing so. Its NOT the mistake that matters, it's the fact that he's LEARNED by his mistake and is doing everything legally possible to him to insure it doesn't happen again. LEARNING from our mistakes is just as important as the mistake itself. I would RATHER he learned by his mistake NOW than when he gets OLDER.

Good job there! He didn't do anything to rectify his mistake until he was FORCED to, and even then it took forever for him to apologize. He doesn't care, he cares about his career. The only thing he learned is how to better hide who he is.
Wow, these comments really amaze me. People are so judgemental!! We all have done something at one time or another that we are ashamed of. I find it strange that we as humans can't forgive but God forgives us!!

"You're doing a great job!" That must mean those of us who never even contemplate moronic, abusive behavior are downright saintly. Give me a freaking break. Stop pandering to these media clowns. Really.
Talk about apples and oranges......The true test of whether Mr. Brown has learned anything from his mistakes are whether he becomes violent in the future with a woman with whom he has a romantic relationship. Most abusive men repeat their behavior with a new victim and resort to more deviate behavior (such as preventing their victim from seeking help) in order to avoid legal problems. Abusive men seem to be in the same category as men who molest children. The only cure is to completely avoid past and future victims. If Mr. Brown cares about women, he will choose to live a celibate life. However, most abusive men are insufferable wimps when it comes to any sort of self denial and instead find relationships where they can remain abusive. Such men choose to engage in extreme rationalization to avoid taking responsibility for their behavior and making the necessary changes to grow up and care properly for others.
Praised for doing what the rest of us do everyday, behaving like normal human beings. Publicist = money well spent I guess.

I've done work at a women's shelter, still volunteer occasionally....I realize it's a double standard, but a man hitting a women, is unforgivable. What she hit you? That's not an excuse man. I've gotten hit by a women before, what I didn't do was give her a beatdown after...I just left the room, geez.

How wonderful it must be to judge Chris Brown or anyone as if we are innocent of our own sins... He who is with out sin, cast the first stone.... He had no business putting his hands on Rhianna, and nothing will change that fact. But I also know there are two sides to every story and some times more depending on who you talk to. Again domestic violence is wrong, and he shouldn't have done it. We all do things we are ashamed of, we all do things that are wrong. Because most of us are not famous, are sins are not shouted from the roof tops. Today, a woman was beaten by a man, and who knows how many times this horrible act has happened to this female... and we many never hear about the countless number of women who suffer this fate everyday. It's not right, something needs to be done but what? It sucks really... He made a choice and a huge, horrible mistake, it can't fix this, but he can get help and move forward, and hopefully never do this again. who knows, he might, but I pray he doesn't...
That's the big problem - he WASN'T sorry. For months after the attack, he portrayed HIMSELF as the victim. He moaned and wailed and cried about how HIS image had been tarnished by this incident, meanwhile he never once said that he was sorry. THAT is why does not deserve a second chance.

Everyone deserves to be forgiven. How else can we expect to be forgiven. It's just very difficult to get the images of Rhianna's swollen, bruised and battered face from our minds. How could a woman in her right mind ever trust him knowing that could happen to her. I have a feeling that wasn't the first time an incident like that happened between Chris and Rhianna and it's probably not the last time he will react like that. I've known many woman who've been abused and the men in their life rarely ever change. I'm glad Rhianna had the courage to get out.

If you bothered to read any of the reports, "Ri Ri" saw a text come through his phone from an ex-girlfriend of his. One can only guess, but the content of the text upset her and she questioned him about it. He got very upset (note that she didn't instigate this, but was calling him out), and started punching her in the face. This is not an appropriate reaction. I'm not sure how you are under the impression she "provoked" him by inquiring about his possible infidelity, but who am I to judge. Whoopee! Chris Brown is praised for acting like an human being (and not hitting _too_ hard). Why isn't it enough for people to just want to behave themselves because it's the civilized thing to do. Chris Brown is a grown man who SHOULD behave himself. Eh, perhaps I am being too harsh. I am very, very liberal-minded but I think that, sometimes, we try to make people feel all warm and fuzzy when what they are doing is just acting like they are supposed to act.
Let's see how Chris Brown has been behaving 10 years from now – after he has been off of probabtion for several years. If he has not hit anyone else, then, perhaps I will have some praise for him. For now, though... eh.
Wow getting praise for not getting in trouble, what a looser but I can’t fault the judge for doing this, I do the same when I talk to my 4 yr old about being responsible for their actions. Trouble is, Mr. Brown is considered an adult by is age (not by his actions) and would have a cry to the media about his rights is he wasn't constantly being praised in front of the cameras. BTW I don’t care who he hit, I just find it disgusting that we find it necessary to praise adults for doing the right thing or taking responsibility for their actions

I just saw the movie today, Takers, that Chris Brown played a role in. I LOVED it! I thought he looked hella fine and he did such good acting in the moving. Especially his running scene! Must see movie. Props to him for getting his life back on track and doing what he does best, entertaining us!

First, why click the link if you think Chris Brown is such a punk or a thug?! As long as SOMEONE is reading the articles, the media will continue to write them. Second, NO ONE, but Rihanna and Chris, knows what happened that night. What we do know is he hit her, more than once. He's "paying for it" through 5 years probation and will probably pay through his career for longer than that. Maybe that's not way that people THINK he should but that's what the courts decided. It has nothing to do with him being a celebrity, or being black, or being rich as to why he got away with it. any times someone – male or female – accused of abuse "get away" with it when they don't have a record, and show remorse in the courtroom and have the potential for rehabilitation. He SHOULD be praised for staying out of trouble. Think of how many people on probation – especially celebrities – DON'T change their ways! Give him Kudos and let him move on.

A) We saw the pictures man! This wasn't just a punch, this was a BEATING. There were no pics of what Sheen did.
B) CB got HORRIBLE advice on how to handle things after his arrest. You don't go to Miami the next weekend and party it up and get PHOTOGRAPHED smiling and laughing on Jet Ski's! You don't set up interviews to talk about what happened and then say it's private and you don't want to talk about it. You certainly don't go back into the studio and release an album and then start whining that you are being hated on! If he had a good manager they would have handled it better.

That weekend in Miami you are talking about B-dog was spent with Rihanna. Rihanna hit Crhis and ended up getting the worst end of the deal because Chris is stronger. We didn't see pics of Chris either. Their relationship was like Em's new video. A woman shouldn't hit a man, and a man shouldn't hit a woman. If you hit someone, expect to get hit back. No one is allowed to put their hands on anyone in that manner. There are many victims of domestic abuse and if you call a woman's shelter you can get many stories of real abuse. Chris and Rihanna were two idiots fighting and this was no domestic abuse. Rihanna is not the face of domestic abuse and if the press and police didn't get involved she would still be with Chris. Sorry, but I have no sympathy for women who get off hitting their men and forcing them to hit back so they can release their own anger (in what people now call toxic relationship). My sympthathy is for the woman who gets slapped around by their men and they can't even fight back. Not to condone what Sheen did, but CS only threatened his wife (I can't believe I just said "only"). Brown beat the living cr@p of of Rihanna AND he tried to make excuses for himself for months afterwards. Charlie, at the very least, said he was sorry and tried to get help. Brown considered himself the victim and still does to this day.
