Will Forte leaves 'Saturday Night Live'The time has come to say farewell to Will Forte, “Saturday Night Live” fans – the actor has announced that he won't be returning to NBC’s late-night sketch comedy show as it enters its 36th season this fall. “After eight great seasons, Will has made the decision to move on from SNL to pursue new opportunities,” Forte’s rep said. “He is eternally grateful to Lorne and all of the incredible people he worked with over the years.” Forte came into the "SNL" fold in 2002, creating a variety of memorable characters, not in the least MacGruber, whose story was turned into a feature film and released in May. NBC hasn’t issued an official statement, and the NYTimes reports that the network has declined to comment on any potential newbies coming on, as deals are expected to close after Labor Day. "SNL's" new season kicks off September 25 at 11:30 p.m. |

Modern closets can be built into the walls of the house during construction so that they take up no apparent space in the bedroom, or they can be a large, free-standing piece of furniture designed for clothing storage, in which case they are often called a wardrobe or armoire. Closets are often built under stairs, thereby using awkward space that would otherwise go unused.;
All the best to you

What the hell is up with all of the SNL hatred?
Like, seriously. SNL is hilarious, and if those of you who hate it would get your heads out of your asses for two minutes, to watch the show nowadays, you'd realize that it's the best! Up yours, haters.
will miss him
Free Online movies
I miss Joe Piscopo.
Sorry to hear that Will is leaving...but I have the perfect replacement! http://stickyegg.com
It's funny how people say SNL hasn't been funny in a decade, but a decade ago people said the same thing and the decade before that. I think people grow attached to a certain cast, and any new cast never lives up to that previous standard. I grew up as a kid watching Chris Farley, Adam Sandler, David Spade, Dana Carvey, Kevin Nealon.........and this bunch of rejects since, with the exception of Will Ferrell, have never lived up. To me, anyways.
SNL has been a real drag for 10+ years. Now, if the show had writers like Mike, who proposed:
"the funniest thing to happen to that show would be to bring a large wood chipper on stage and throw the "comedians" in one at a time and use the spout to paint pictures on the wall behind them as they are ground up" Now THAT I would tune in to see!
One idea – Perhaps if they dug up Chris Farley and danced his corpse around like a puppet while David Spade sang a dirge? Hey, Farley's still more talented now than the current actors/comedians.
SNL hasnt been funny in 10 years in fact I send most the time I m watching that show Irritated. the funniest thing to happen to that show would be to bring a large wood chipper on stage and throw the "comedians" in one at a time and use the spout to paint pictures on the wall behind them as they are ground up. nows that some humor!!
Now if only Keanen Thompson would leave. I've never laughed once at him. I DVR SNL and fast forward through anything he does, especially that lame "What Up Wit' Dat" guy.
Jimmy Fallon was not funny. nothing good on there since Will Ferrel plus there has never been a funny woman on the show except for that Chris Kattan lady. she was kind of funny
Is Will Forte gay??? seeing a lot of man love for the dude....
Too hot for the hot tub!!
Wow, he will go down as one of the greats like Jim Belushi, Dan Ackroyd, Eddie Murphy, ....
NOT!
What's wrong with SNL? This: One of the original writers for SNL said in an interview that they used to write material just to be funny and then the cast would perform it. Then things changed with the cult of personality. The writers starting writing for the cast members' performances, not just to be funny. The cast members aren't funny because parts are written for their personalities and they don't have to really perform or improvise. The original cast members were great improvisational comics.
You guys do realize that this is a normal contract procedure for an SNL cast member. Depending on the level of contract, typically after 8 seasons that cast member does a movie and then leaves and still has a commitment to doing 2 more movies that Lorne Michaels is involved with. Some people succeed and most don't, either way some SNL contracts include a 3 movie deal. Ever notice all the really bad movies with SNL cast members?
And let's not be jerks, we all know SNL is still on and it's the best it has been since the 90's. Not saying it's better...just saying it has its moments.

SNL made Forte not the other way around. His making a huge mistake. Like many before him that failed and very few that made it
I love him and will miss him. Lived for the MacGruber bits - the show with Richard Dean Anderson was hilarious. Also loved his other characters– the idiot ESPN type anchor - anytime he got on a lounge-type stage to sing some stupid song with Kristin Wiig, - also hilarious. Did not see the movie b/c I couldn't imagine sustaining MacGruber for 90 minutes. I hope whatever he does, he's successful;. A very talented guy.
Well, no doubt he's on to bigger and better things...since SNL hasn't been genuinely funny in decades it seems. Still, MacGruber is one of the funniest bits to ever grace the show...
The Office was adapted for American audiences by executive producer Greg Daniels, a veteran writer for Saturday Night Live....possibly a reason Forte will be cast as "Michael's" replacement on the Office???
Here's a rumor....Forte to take over for Steve Carrell on the Office.
The office will so suffer in ratings with Forte at the helm, He is no Michael Scott.
I'm sorry, maybe it's my age (40) but SNL is long past it's prime. The skits haven't been funny in since the days of Akroyd, Beleushi, Chase and Murray. In fact, they're downright lazy, most of the time trying to make us laugh at the intentionally mundane, pointless and mostly stupid bits. I can't stand to sit through half an hour of this show let alone one hour. When will it be cancelled????
Funniest character was Hamilton, the middle aged, white racist with the straight blond bobcut and the deep, breathy voice. You kind of have to watch it a couple of times to really get it. But it was genius.
I liked McGruber, and the Falconer, but too many others made me tune out, like the song duo that would show up during the News. The audience would laugh, but I didn't get the humor.
I haven't seen a full episode of SNL in years, so this was the first time I've heard about this guy.
It's a stupid career move, but then I never really liked him very much so I won't miss him.
oh Wil Forte? i was worried that someone FUNNY might be leaving the show. wait a minute. what am i saying? NO ONE on that show has been funny or comical for YEARS.
Will is one of the few reasons to watch the show anymore. Should have kept MacGrubera skit though. That movie was awful. Good luck to you Will
this guy lasted 8 seasons!!! no wonder the ratings r down. like the guy who did Donkey Boy...he'll be asking u if u want fries w/ ur order. though he is a cutie.
SNL hasnt been funny since the 90s, and it's always sad to see someone destroy their mediocre career by leaving. This guy will never be heard of again.
Too bad, he would've been great in the upcoming skit-the stabbing of a muslim cabbie.
The reoccurring problem with SNL is Lorne Michaels. He cannibalizes his "good" casts to make horrible movies. Look on wikipedia SNL movies have steadily lost money incrementally. Will Forte is just the latest to leave with delusions of becoming a big movie star.
I'm glad he's leaving. He sucked on the show. Let's hope Lorne will replace him with some one who is not only funny but can do comedy.
I like all the brainless 'Snl isn't funny any more- i quit watching ten years ago' comments. If you quit watching ten years ago, how the hell do you know if it's funny or not now?
SNL–So Not Laughing
Who?
I quit watching SNL several years ago. For those who think that SNL is still funny, it's probably because you don't have anything to compare the show to. I quit watching about 10 years ago. I got tired of watching skits without any punch lines. I, too, got tired of all the whiney characters. I wish NBC would take the show off when some of us can still remember what a great show it once was. However, I doubt if the network would relinquish the time slot.
Why are so many people posting how lousy SNL is / has become?
OK already, SNL will never live up to its early year cast / casts, but come-on SNL has its ups and downs, and not EVERY single skit will be hilarious. Of course, Weekend Update is always great !
Jeezh people, SNL is on, and will remain on because it is funny, has a good musical performance every-now-and-then, and NBC doesn't have anything better to replace it.... Oh, there I go, I also fell for critizing the show 🙁
The sketch he did with Payton Manning, as the high school basketball coach, was brilliant.
Now if the rest of the cast would leave, it might once again be funny. : (
Fortin' with will.
this guy's a turd sandwich, glad to see him go and hopefully make room for some real talent
That McGruber bit was annoying as hell
Freakin' sucks that he's leaving, he's one of my favorites. I wish him the best in his career.
They all leave after around 7 years..
That character and film is LAME!
Who?
Saturday Night Live is still on???? It became unfunny a long time ago.
SO GLAD! good riddance!
I've really liked Will Forte and will miss him on SNL. He's not afraid to look silly, and he really seems to enjoy what he's doing. I too have liked him as the goofy, clueless sportscaster, and MacGruber is high on my list. One of my favorite bits though was Will as the dancing, "lets get motivated" basketball coach with Peyton Manning.
Bummer- I'll miss him, but I would have picked Wiig to bolt before Forte... Thorry...
Don't they just film 4 episodes of SNL per season and then repeat? Hmmmm.
Good luck to him. He's great in Tim and Eric's Awesome Show too.
Who's Will Forte???
Aren't you the closet organizer guy?
Thank God!...no more MacGruber !!!!!!!!! Hoorayyyyy!!!!
SNL has its moments...as did Forte's characters. I'D love to see them not obviously reading from cue cards. Learn your lines! Never saw Gilda Radner do that...
They read from cue cards because the lines are changed right up until show time.
Why is this news? Who cares? Will he go on to make over-budgeted, bad comedy movies filled with bathroom humor now, like most of his SNL predecessors?
Obviously you care or you wouldn't have made a comment you moron.
SaturdayNightLive is not as funny as when I was younger but who cares, right? Good luck Will and I hope they can replace your talents because replacing has not been easy in the past I can see. I do dig weekend update though! ATL in da house!!! Keep rockin SNL
The blood of the son will wash the sins of the father for ever and a day.... So, Will forte is a fudge packer, right?
The Falconer and Mcgruber were great! When's the rest of this cast hanging it up?
If it weren't for Andy Sandberg that show would be flatlined.
Wrong. First it's Andy Samberg, seond, Bill Hader is pretty funny and talented. His James Carville bit on weekend update kills!
He sucked. Only liked him ad the idiot sports commentator
Earth you're a wonderful wonderful planet!
I wish there was some way to send SNL new ideas for shows. Their writing has really gone down over the years.
I'd like to see something really out there instead of the same old stuff.
How about:
"POWER TOOLS AND ALCOHOL"
What could go wrong with mixing the latest power tool demonstrations and drunks. I mean a nail gun and Bourbon is a heck of a mixed drink!
I will miss him as the other half of Jon Bovi!
my favorite character by Will Forte was Donald The Falconer ... makes me smile just to think about it 🙂
I have laughed my a@# off every saturday for years. Snl is alive and well. Some bomb but the many great ones I watch over again on dvr cause they are hilarious! Thnks for the laughs Will!!!
Tim Calhoun. My favorite SNL character of all time.
Hey Will say Hi to oblivion! He will be forgotten pretty fast in SNL's long history.
What surprises me is the insistence of "this person is funny, this person isn't." How funny something is varies from person to person. I didn't really care for Forte's brand of humor, nor SNL's in general recently, but obviously other people do. Agree to disagree already!
Will Forte had an incredible career established well before SNL. He wrote for both Third Rock and That 70s Show. Great move, Forte. You have been an excellent performer on SNL and I love how you really push the envelope on stuff you try! I look forward to your future acting gigs and am also really excited that you will now have a little time freed up for some more major writing projects. you are so talented in both acting and writing. Good move and congrats!
Two words: Tim Calhoun.
That was the first bit I saw him in, and it was so dang funny I thought he was going to totally turn SNL around. I was wrong. But I'm always keeping an eye out for whatever he's working on.
SNL is really boring now! Will Forte is better off trying to act in small roles as he usually does. Watch SLAMMIN SALMON! He is in it in a very small role but that movie is hilarious!
Love that movie!
He obviously figured out he wasn't getting much sketch time anymore.
Aw, this sucks! Loved him on SNL!...and yes, Jim, I agree...he is quite easy on the eyes!
SNL sucks. Used to be better. I know, that's what everybody says and everybody has their favorite eras (mine is the early and late 90's. The middle 90's sucked as well). Don't care. It's really, really bad. I don't hate Forte though. Probably more an issue of writing than anything.
The show doesn't suck you just got old. The show has become even more relevant than it ever has.
My first thought is whether Lorne Michaels forced him out like he did with Chris Parnell. And to the person who referred to Forte as "Chris Kattan 2.0", you're an idiot. Kattan sucked and his "Mango" character was about the singular worst character in the history of SNL. Forte was actually pretty funny and his sports announcer and Macgruber characters were hilarious.\.
MANGO WAS SO FUNNY!!! AWESOME!!!
Some of you people are retards. "Wait...wait...wait. SNL is still on?" That's hilarious! I've NEVER heard that joke before. Maybe you ought to ask for an SNL writer's gig.
Bottom line, Forte was funny. Not all of his stuff worked, but MacGruber was a solid skit especially when Betty White dropped in as his mother. The trick-or-treating pedophile was pretty good. I liked his bouts of one-up manship when he was a Salvation Army worker & Justin Timberlake visited and they'd fight over the corner. His "Greg Stink" (the goofball sportscaster) was hilarious.
For those of us who watch, we could do worse than Will Forte.
Thanks, I will. When I do start writing for them then perhaps SNL will become relevant again, probably not though. It's a dinosaur and needs to become extinct. As for you, please leave your parents house, lose some of that belly fat, put down the bucket o' ice cream that you fill your mouth with while you watch SNL and find some frieinds. There are plenty of better things to do on Saturday nights.
@Babyjane well when you're a Mom of 4 kiddos, no there iaren't much better things to do on a Sat night. ( unless we get a sitter) the show is relevant to me, and lots of other people. It in no way is a dinosaur, Sure it's been on a long time, but apparently people still find it funny. So, unless I have lined up a sitter, SNL it is .......
Greg Stink! Need I say more!
Good for him..SNL sucks not anything like the original cast nor the cast that followed. The end is near.
I know it is kind of the old standard to rip on new SNL and talk about the good ol days. Problem is – the good old days are painfully unfunny. I do not care how funny Belushi, Radner or Chase once may have been....those old SNL episodes are painfully unfunny to watch if you are under 50 years old.
It's only a matter of time before the really funny ones leave. If Bill Hader and Kristin Wigg,Sandberg decide to leave anytime soon it'll really go downhill. Loved Forte...One funny dude.
Seriously? Bill Hader is funny on a lucky day, but Kristen Wiig plays the same character. All. The. Time.
Y'know how this happened, of course...MacGruber tanked at the box office and Lorne Michaels had him summarily executed for failing to refresh the SNL Character Franchise Machine.
I love his sad, pathetic characters on the Tim and Eric show.
That sucks! it's my fav show and every time i really like someone, they leave. bring will ferrell back then!
You will be missed. Good luck with everything. Love the MacGruber scetch! Lol
We will miss you
Wait...Wait...Wait...SNL is still on????
Tune in sometime, you might be surprised at how funny it is.
Yea, its still on. Funny as hell, too. But your probably watchin' Hee Haw reruns.
How do you not know SNL is still on?!?! Didn't you hear about the Betty White SNL?
Gilly...? Gilly...?
Gilly sucked.
Gilly was his best skit and he wasn't even the main person...who cares if this guy goes? I didn't even know his name until now.
LOL, I can hear him saying that!
Too bad...he was really funny
I thought his impression of Dolllie Parton was always funny.
I absolutely love all of Forte's characters!!!! He will definitely be missed! SNL is the greatest 😀
Good riddance. Hopefully SNL will be funnier without Forte than it has been while he's been making his far too frequent contributions.
You're an ass.
I will miss his Stefon character!
Are you talking about the club boy who wears the graphic art designed long sleeved t-shirt who appears on weekend update and only talks about activities that are not family friendly? That character is played by Bill Hader.
bill hader is stefon
Hader is amazing! The biggest talent on that show. Lorne is lucky it wasn't him leaving. (although Forte will be missed)
chris kattan 2.0
That's actually Jimmy Fallon.
No, Jimmy Fallon still exists......Chris Kattan doesn't
I always thought he was hot....so I will miss that, too!
His clueless sports announcer at various women's "sporting" events never failed to make me laugh. Best of luck to you!
it was only while watching Will play Greg Stink, the colour commentator that I noticed how good Jason Sudoku or whatever his last name is, is. I love those ESPN sports segments and I did like Will Forte...hope he didn't leave thinking he will have a movie career..McGruber is a one trick pony
Completely agree about the sports announcer. Great character.
MacGruber is the most annoying character in recent memory. Forte's other characters will be missed. Good luck
Yes, db, yes. My husband and I groan every time the McGruber skit music starts. The other characters, though, were always enjoyable and sometimes brilliant.
your are absolutely right, macgruber is a kinda funny 30 second skit, but a horribly annoying and unfunny movie. I
I agree that most were just annoying but the one with Charles Barkley was hiliarious
I love him as George. W.
I'll give you a big W. Right up your WMD
what are all of you talking about? SNL hasnt been funny in almost a decade! the last time they had someone that was actually funny was will ferrell. Jimmy Fallon, not sure they can get more annoying. he must have eaten paint chips. will forte's character whiney and annoying.
So many of these SNL stars and TV stars say they are leaving their TV shows to pursue bigger opportunities and then they are never really heard from again. I think they have delusions of grandeur myself. They may be amusing in 5 minute TV skits but, from what I've seen, they seldom can carry more than that.
no one in a decade, how bout tina fey, amy poehler. and jimmy and will have only been off for 5 years
He was great as W and MacGruber, but that was about it on SNL. I think he has a lot of talent, and I hope he makes some movies. Unlike some other SNL alumni (e.g., Piscopo, Short, Fallon, Sandler) I think Forte could be a great actor in the right role(s).
I'm still surprised at how GOOD Will Ferrell is as an actor and how BAD Eddie Murphy is on the big screen. I liked Eddie Murphy on SNL and hated Ferrell. And, who would have thought that Robert Downey Jr. would have made such a kick-ss Iron Man?
