Taylor Momsen, you give 17 year old girls a really bad name. You are not a "star", nor will you ever understand the value of an education, because you are spoiled rotten. You have an ashtray potty mouth and have no talent. You are just another washed up CHILD STAR. Can you say LINDSAY LOHAN?!? I hope your mother gave you a good smack for all these trashy comments! There is a difference between speaking your mind and being vicious! Learn the boundary, fro your own sake please!

Taylor, you have a long way to go: do not make the mistake of mixing up teenage angst (what you are feeling when you're 17) and angst. When it comes to angst, my point of reference, my standard would be GG Allin (any of you young guns ever heard of him?). While I can understand it is unbecoming of a lady of your caliber to s**t on stage and roll in your own feces while punching yourself in the face, there is always a price to pay for angst: your sanity, your life, or both. Being provocative is a by-product of that, not the other way around. It has nothing to do with being born rich or poor, white or black, or having had a tough childhood or not, it's like autism: a non-standard approach to processing your life and expressing yourself. You can become that but there is a sacrifice: try for example to spend a week in the woods with nothing else but the clothes on your back. Be scared, be hungry, be cold, stop the stimuli from other people and withdraw in your own head, look at your Shadow, your Personna and your Animus and let them rip your Self apart. Good luck, you're going to need it!

I'm not doubting her honesty, just her lack of perspective.
She is 17 years old. Most young teens are ignorant and childish. On top of that she is trying to promote this Im such a bad A$$ image that cant be bothered by things such as raising money for a good cause. People change. In ten years from now, she will hopefully have a different outlook in life. One that doesnt shout out " Im the spawn of satan!". Besides, people shouldnt look up to celebrities. Then we would be shaving our heads, carrying small dogs every where, and having dog fight nights. Young girls and boys should choose someone else to admire like teachers, parents, fire fighters, humanitarians, ect.

My niece is a spoiled brat. She is 14, does dance5 days a week, takes ap classes, and wants to be a model. She is not, however, self absorbed. Her role model... Her friends, her mom, and her grandmother. Her parents wrier divorcee by the time she was three or four. And, she is respectful. My son is nine, he is a Cub Scout, a Decided 5th Gup in Tang Soo Do, and is now joining Lego Robotics...he has his own kayak, and his own fish tank. My daughter, who is five, also has her own fish tank. She started kindergarten and now does gymnastics twice a week. This was what they wanted to do. I just makes sure they get there housework and homework done. They aren't spoiled, they have their responsibilities and they do them.

Aaah a typical teen who thinks they know everything! Love it. Its going to be even funnier when she turns out to be another washed up celebrity. So she's what 16 can't wait to see how old she looks by the time shes 21.

What exactly is wrong with what she said? I’m not familiar with her but her statement shouldn’t bother anyone. As a parent, I’m responsible for my child. If she has a role model, it should be me, or her teacher, or grandmother… not a 17 year old “entertainer”. Most of the comments here are far more disappointing than anything this girl said.
Huhum "And who are we to be telling anybody how to live their lives?" And really parents the first role model for your kids should be, hum i don't know, YOU.

So Taylor Momsen says she doesn't want to be a role model then she also says that she wants to be Kurt Cobain. I'm sure his goal was not to be a role model either but he was obviously a role model to her, whether he intended to or not. Who knows... he may have been thinking the same snarky comments about little kids like her during his final days. The point is, when you choose an occupation in the public eye (entertainer, athlete, politician, etc) you have to expect to be looked at and judged by everyone from the pre-tweener down at the mall to my grandpa. You can't just pick up your fat paycheck, say whatever you please and expect there to be no consequences. There are no free rides in life, sweetheart.
Taylor Momsen is right 🙂 It's all parents fault because all they think is about MONEY! This is why parents have gone too far and forced their children get into "role model" and "pageant" crap! Parents have no right to tell their children to what to do! Every children and teens have their own right to choose what they want to be when they grow up! DUHHHHHHHH! So, parents have FAIL!!!!!
Parents can't monitor every little thing their kids absorb from the pop-culture toilet anymore, the Internet has seen to that. So lil' Taylor will say "Hey, I smoke. No big deal. I'm not a role model." But she is a role model whether she likes it or not. 100 kids just read that and said "Cool. I'll smoke too, and I also don't have to worry about being a role model."
Poor, poor Taylor. She tries to put up a tough front, but I can guarantee underneath it all she is just as insecure as every other teen. Someone needs to intervene... she is a disaster!

What a nasty foul mouthed little girl and I do mean nasty. You need to grow up and learn to be diplomatic and speak without using curse words. Unfortunately you have a certain proportion of the public who admire you for whatever reason so try and live up to being a role model, which you apparently do not want to be, but with fame comes a certain amount of responsibllity to those young teens. And yes, I am a mother.

Well, little girl, guess what... becoming an entertainer, in whatever capacity, is going to involve being a role model, whether you like it or not. I understand she's only 17, so she doesn't really have the maturity to know how to handle it all, but she better learn fast before she alienates her present and future fan base. Wait now; who said that entertainers (or athletes or the like) should be, can be or are role models? While there are some exceptions, there is NO reason any parent should allow their child(ren) to believe entertainers, etc are role models. Role models should be people we see and know in every day life; amazing parents, children that suffer and still maintain a zest for life, selfless people who can take care of themselves and still give to others, and so on. Certainly she is saying things that are shocking, but I'm not too certain she's that far off; even if she does come off as somewhat ungrateful.
JLD – I'm with you! The people that are complaining about her being a bad "role model" are the ones that use the television as a babysitter then they wonder why their kids turn out like this one!

Get a grip people!!! If you as a parent are letting your kids have a television star or reality star as a role model, maybe THE PARENTS are the ones with the problem. These TV kids are offered money and fame as a lure and they take it. They dont take it with the "higher purpose" of trying to show other kids how they should act or behave or what standards they should set for themselves in life. I thought that was the parents job?

Wow..... I gained new respect for Taylor after reading her comments. She says exactly what is on her mind, and the minds of many others probably, and isn't afraid to say it. Very refreshing.....
