Lauryn Hill returns to the chartsIt’s been a minute (to say the least), but Lauryn Hill has found her way back to the charts. According to Billboard, Hill has made her first debut as a lead artist on the charts in more than a decade. The recently-leaked single "Repercussions" debuted on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart at No. 94. It was 1999 when Hill last appeared on the charts with "Turn Your Lights Down Low," featuring Bob Marley. That song peaked at No. 49. “Repercussions” and Hill’s upcoming scheduled appearances on the Rock the Bells tour have stirred speculation that she’s embarked on a comeback.

Lauryn Hill is amazing and her music inspires. I don't care about what she have might have said, either way her music is still amazing and way better than this Pretty Boy Swag mess and the bedrocking and Gucci this prada that. Nobody has anything on Ms. Hill, and im glad shes coming back!...I remember being a youngbull and boppin around to this and 10 years still being able to really listen and learn from it ! i am only 16 years old and my music standards are avoid that of which Gucci Mane can provide.
Lauryn is a talented, intelligent, gifted artist who is mentally ill. She needs prayers not criticism.
If you listen to her music she is not prejudiced she just sings about the facts of history. She is a firm beliver of being yourself and not altering hair, eyecolor and other things to adher to what western society makes you belive is the right way to look.
Damn just look at all the criticism for something Lauren supposedly said. Where the hell were all these good self-righteous white folk when Dr Laura used the "N" word repeatedly? I tell people are such hypocrites.

I love lauren hill's music. She is a very talented artists who is greatly missed. I don't for a second believe any racist aligations against her. only fools jump to conclusions without knowing the facts. I can't wait to here new music from her.
PS....the comments about her eyebrows are unnecessary, they can easily be neatened. I'm also sure the people making comments have flaws of their own.

I don't know about her being a racist. I saw her on PBS a few years ago doing a concert with Jon Tesh and he's about as white as you get.

everyone writes for an intended demographic, because matters of the heart are naturally more understood by some than others. the miseducation of lauryn hill hit so close to home for me because I've shared many of the same life experiences....and i also appreciate great music....and i'm WHITE.
comments pertaining to race are always taken out of context because that's how the media can stir up drama, its a sensitive subject. additionally, many rappers write about "gettin shot in the hood", and their " baby mama on crack", etc...though they can't personally relate, many young white boys still dig it....jammin with the windows down thru midwestern suburbia on their way to abercrombie & fitch....the beauty of music is that while intended for one particular relation, it transcends barriers of most kinds, including race, and can be enjoyed by any who listen with an open ear.

It's amazing that saying your music is for your people is racist...clue me in? Do you really believe country and western singers are writing music for blacks or hispanics? We all have a choice...buy the music or not! But racism is a little strong of word for publicly stating that you write music that is inspired by your people, speaks to your people and is predominately purchased by your people. If she tried to write music for a genre of people she can't associate with, her music wouldn't speak for who she is and she'd be another hapless artist trying to impress the masses...kinda like Lady Gaga...trying to be too much for too many people...
Easily the most talented artist of her generation in any genre of music. I remember MTV responding to the racist lie. Someone on the Howard Stern show said she said she didn't want whites to buy her music and everyone picked up that pathetic lie.
MTV even released a transcript of the interview to prove it was a lie but people believe what they want to believe even if its' not true.... by the way her manager was white at this time this rumor was started... people are so gullable. At least her fans knew it wasn't true.
You can't remember where she said it because she didn't say that! In fact, she was horrified that such a comment had even been attributed to her and she spoke out during a radio interview to say that she NEVER said that! Look it up!

Wow. I remember her clearly saying that her music is for her people and she did not intend for her music for white people. I do not remember he saying the starving statement. But she was very clear that her music was for her Black people. I am not sure if it was VH1 or MTV or BET. It was so long ago. It was a long time ago and the fact that that interview is gone into oblivion throws me off, but it was years ago. Maybe it just got pushed under the rug or something . It's not like they had You Tube back then or anything.
She did say that she makes music geared towards black people. Specifically black women. Because she's a black woman, she makes music that she knows can relate to people like her. She also said that even though her music is created for black people doesn't mean its racist in any way, and she doesn't care if white people by her music.
Now take the situation and apply to a different product. Let's say I make shampoo for black men (because I'm a black man) and put that on the label. Does that mean I don't what whites to buy my shampoo? No, it just means we have different hair types so the shampoo would be more beneficial to a black man.
Likewise for her music, black people will go through a more similar life struggle than will a white person.
What ever don't listen to her music then who cares! people if you don't!

Please do us all a favor provide the dates of the alleged occurrences or interviews in which these statements were made so that we are able to for ourselves be able to go back and review these interviews. Otherwise crawl back under your rock if you have taken the position already to not be a fan of Miss. Hill or buy her music then why post anything? Say or think what you like about her as a person, but nobody can deny the fact that she is very talented. In a music industry nowadays where practically every single female artist is doing the EXACT same thing, dressing up as if the craft's store blew up on them and putting "controversy" and style over music with substance, it is nice to see a woman who sings from the heart whose lyrics have so much meaning without trying so hard. We need more artists like this. More female artists SHOULD be like this, just let the music speak instead of the in your face antics.
