Taylor Momsen jokes about the Catholic churchIn addition to modeling for Madonna's Material Girl clothing collection, Taylor Momsen appears to also be modeling herself after Madonna, criticizing the Catholic church in a racy new interview. In a recent chat with a New Zealand radio station, the 17-year-old "Gossip Girl" star dissed Catholicism and also joked that she once had sex with a priest. "I was raised Catholic," said Momsen, according to Us Weekly. The aspiring musician, who also performs with the band the Pretty Reckless, said she wrote the song "Going Down" to address the issue of priests who prey on children. "It seemed like a very fitting song to write at the time," explained Momsen, who also dished about her love of sex toys in the interview. "It was kind of a '[expletive] you' to all the molestation going on. It was just insane." |

Reading the Bible does not guarantee me a better relationship with Jesus anymore than reading the Joy of Cooking guarantees me a better relationship with the late Julia Child.
No use trying to explain the Catholic faith to ignorant people like texas mom or any of these other religious snobs. Their misguided churches taught them to focus on how everyone else is worshiping wrong while they're doing everything right.
If these people had any class, they'd simply say they don't agree with how Catholics worship. Period. No harm in that.
Kinda hard to take thes bible thumpers seriously when they're going against their own religion by being so judgemental.
you should mind your own bussiness it was a joke dont get all butthurt L O L @ your misareble life Jeff
I have to admit,I really don't like her!
I love how N is getting his quotes from Dogma. It's a great movie, I personally love it. But I wouldn't be using it in a religious discussion. Kevin Smith himself said no one should get up in arms or cite a movie as truth that has a rubber poop monster in it.
I was raised Catholic and although I don't practice the faith the way that I was raised anymore, I don't feel the need to defend my Catholicism of lack thereof to anyone. Religion is a PERSONAL thing and the world would be a lot better off if people would worry about their own souls and their own walk with whomever they believe in than to try to point out "errors" of others in an attempt of Pride poorly disguised as "righteousness."
Get a life people. This girl is seventeen years old. She knows nothing about life. Let her spout her crazy or incisive ideas at will and take it all with a grain of salt.
chief-dumb you are not.... a complete sucker to believe in the teaching of the catholic church, yes you are..... your faith in that unholy alliance called the catholic church doesnt make it right.... your logic folows suit of those like jim jones or those of waco or heavens gate ...... based on your words, if the catholic church said to jump off a cliff or to strap on a backpack full of explosives .... you would do it....
I've had with you, whoever you are. I am no sucker to believe in what Christ himself taught. Your insults are horrible. If you don't like the RC church, fine, but please don't insult me by calling me a sucker. I believe what God taught me. You are the sad one. You can take your insults, and low blows and you can jump off a cliff! By insulting me, you insult who I am, and my God. I feel very sorry for you, even though I shouldn't. What a loser!
@N-Whatever!!!! Because you can feel the wind in your face, is that why you believe in it? Beauce you can feel it? Is everything based that way with you? How do you think the wind and the air got there? By themselves? I really feel bad for people that have no belief system. However that may be, believe and feel as you wish. I don't really care!!
Yes, I believe in the tangible.
@cheif-re NIWOTMOM ..... What I dont know? I was an RC.... i read and studied where a lot of the rituals and traditions came from.... they are pagan.... man made by those leaders of the RC..... the RC has harbored pedophiles .... there are 8000 coinvicted priests ... the Rc has paid over 3 billion in out of court settlements of abuse..... the next time you bow down and pray in your church ... perhaps to one of the mosaics of the windows to interced in your behalf.... perhaps you may want to read my name on them.... its on many.... been there, done that, and dont believe it.... fool
There is nothing pagan about the RC Church. There are traditions, which have been there for thousands of years. Believe what you may, and feel what you may feel, but PLEASE don't insult me by calling me a fool. I have not called you by any names, and it's not something that I deserve. We are different people. I don't know you, you don't know me, and there is no reason for it. And, the Methodist Church and the Mormon Church have also harbored pedophiles, but I don't see anyone mocking or criticizing them.
@N-Do you believe in air and wind? You can't see them either, but they are there. Believing in God is called faith. Something of which you obviously don't have. If there was no God, you wouldn't be here, living and breathing. That is a fact, not an opinion.
Are you kidding me?
First of all, wind isn't something that requires faith. I don't have to have faith it exists because I can feel the wind when I step outside. I can feel a burst of wind if I open a door fast enough. And I'm pretty sure a tornado counts as visible wind.
And air is made of oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and various other elements and molecules that can be measured and viewed under a microscope.
Your reasonings are not sound.
@Chief-Don't judge what you don't know. The Catholic Church is NOT a cult. It's Christ's church! Get over it!
@N-Yes, there is a God, that's why you are breathing right now!
that's an opinion, not a fact.
re NIWOTMOM ..... What I dont know? chiewf-sad just sad how the catholic church can warp the truth and a lie and the product is a person like this.....
Uh, the Catholic church did not warp and lie. It does not lie. The only reason that Taylor got the way she did, was her own doing, not the church. If you call the church a lier, then you call God a lier, which he is not! You just have to blame someone don't you?
Please. What about the Church's silent consent to the slave trade? And its platfor of noninvolvement during the Holocaust? And don't get me started on the cover up of all those molestations.
dont equate... "that means compare " the catholic churchs morality with God.... from what you have said about your beliefs, its nothing more than a cult based on tradition and pagan rituals
Also, saying the Church lies does not mean someone called God a liar (if there even is a God). Human beings are not infallible, the Church makes mistakes and has lied several times.
@ Kevin-Even if the supporter is as dumb as a brick?
I'm sure that comment was not pointed at my direction, because dumb I am not. If you don't believe in organized religions, that's your choice. But, don't criticize and mock those of us who are. You are the one missing out, not us.
Oh and BTW-bricks are an inademant object. Therefor stupidity is impossible! But apparently you didn't know that.
dumb you are not.... a complete sucker to believe in the teaching of the catholic church, yes you are..... your faith in that unholy alliance called the catholic church doesnt make it right.... your logic folows suit of those like jim jones or those of waco or heavens gate ...... based on your words, if the catholic church said to jump off a cliff or to strap on a backpack full of explosives .... you would do it....
4jesus. I think that Catholics are misguided. They do pray to mary and saints which they don't need to. The Bible clearly states to come to the father which means that you can pray straight to him and not have to have an interceptor. I also do not believe in confession. The only one you must confess your sins to is God himself. I believe what dennisr is saying in the fact that the only way is through Jesus Christ himself and that is about the only thing I agree with from him. I believe we as christians shouldn't judge and that is not what I am doing I am stating my beliefs in the Word and God versus others.
I have attached a wedsite below for you to read. It completely contradicts what you have stated about not having to pray to Mary or the Saints. Jesus asked his mother to be our mother, to take care of us and to protect us from the evil one. He asks us to call her by saying, "Hail Mary". Of course this is a prayer that only Catholics know.
http://www.davidmacd.com/catholic/mary_do_catholics_pray_to_her.htm
@Cheif-also, if you go to the website I attached to my message to really, your questions will be answered. We have souls, and those souls are very much alive after we are dead. Probably something else you don't believe. I don't make up anything about my faith. It is something that I take very seriously. Why would I make it up? I have no reason to.
@Cheif-First of all Mary is not dead, and neither are the saints. Yes, their physicall bodies are not on this earth, but their spirits are very much alive. Is this garbage and made up? Perhaps to you it is, but not to practicing Catholics it isn't. We believe in scripture. What I meant by that comment was, that we don't spend every waking moment of our day looking up bible passages to memorize, so that we can argue and fight with what some people call "bible pushers". I am not one of those people. Believe what you wish about Mary and the saints, but you are incorrect in your assessements.
@niwotmom ... in an earlier post you said "We as Catholics do not base our faith and beliefs completely out of the bible. " and then you make up some garbage about praying to mary.... she is dead.... so are the saints.... dead ... and you say you catholics do not base you faith totally on the bible... no kidding...
May I ask what religion/faith you practice, if any? Thanks.
@Really-Here is a website that I would like to share with you. You had a lot of questions above, and it would take up way too much space to answer each of them. This website will answer your questions, about Mary and the Saints and why we pray to them, as mediators for Christ. http://www.davidmacd.com/catholic/mary_do_catholics_pray_to_her.htm
I hope this helps. If you really want to know, you will go to this website.
@Really-Let me ask you this question. Who is Mary to you? Is she just the mother of Jesus and that's it? Who are the saints to you? Are they just normal people who diee, and that's it? Can you answer these questions?
@Really-May I ask what religion you practice? I would like to know, so that I can properly address your questions.
We as Catholics do not base our faith and beliefs completely out of the bible. The bible is the word of God. Non Catholic Christians rely on the bible for everything they do in their lives. Because Mary is the mother of God, he wants us to pray to her, through intercessory prayer.
The Bible says Jesus is magnified by Mary's soul. A soul is not limited by life on earth. Mary reinforces her eternal ministry by saying "all generations will call me blessed." If the Bible intended Mary's ministry to end with the birth of Jesus, or at Jesus' death, or even at Mary's death, I don't think it would use that language. Mary is the Queen of Heaven of Earth, and our heavenly mother.
As for bible verses, I never said that I was well versed in them. Actually, I'm not, but that doesn't mean anything. Anyone who studies the bible, can throw out verses here and there. But, that doesn't mean that they are fully understood by that individual. I have many friends, that are non-Catholic that can recite verses word for word, but as I said, it doesn't mean they understand what they are saying.
What is your interpretation of Matthew 6:9? Please share with me. I would also like to know your interpration of Exodus 20:4 5? I'm curious to know what you think they both mean. We do not worship Mary or the Saints. Yes we do pray to them for help, but those prayers go straight to God. Only God answers prayers, and God is the only one we worship.
Many non-Catholics rely on the bible for their everyday life. Catholics do read the bible, and study it, and the readings and gospel are read and talked about every Sunday. However, being well versed in the bible, doesn't make a Christian. Just because something isn't written in the bible, does not mean it didn't happen or isn't true.
A magnifying glass increases the object it is focused on, so being in relation to Mary's eternal soul does not draw focus away from Jesus, it does the opposite. It magnifies him. This is the Bible's word to the people of God.
It isn't about interpreting what the bible says to fit your ideas or your need. In 2 Peter 1:20, 21 it states: Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man.."
It sounds to me that you follow ideas and thoughts of man not of God because not once were you able to state a bible verse that back up what you believe in. As far as your praying to saints that is your right as a person, however the bible states in John 14:6: "Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." and then in verse 14 "You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it." Not once did he state that you had to ask Mary or any other saint. Not that he didn't respect Mary but he clearly stated in Luke 11:27, 28 what was more important. verse 27 "As Jesus was saying these things, a woman in the crowd called out, "Blessed is the mother who gave you birth and nursed you." verse 28 "He replied, "Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it." If it was so essential for her to be praised don't you think he would of done so in front of a great crowd of ppl.
As far as your comment "We as Catholics do not base our faith and beliefs completely out of the bible." Then what do you base it off of? 2 Timothy 3:16, 17 says "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
It's your choice if you choose not to follow every thing the bible states because as you said "Just because something isn't written in the bible, does not mean it didn't happen or isn't true." but the bible clearly states(and this isn't my interpretation) in Matthew 7:21-23 "Not everyone who says to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only he who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and in your name drive out demons and perform many miracles? Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!"
Any who it was nice chatting with you and please just know that just as you are free to believe that your religion is the right one many others have a right to believe otherwise and not have someone rip off their heads stating they should do their homework or don't know anything when that can go both ways. Have a great day and take care everyone.
@Niwotmom: We DO NOT and NEVER have worshiped idols OR Mary. Have you ever heard of intercessory prayer? Guess not. Jesus asks us to pray to his mother, to intercede for him.
Where exactly does it state in the bible that Jesus wanted us to pray to Mary? If your so well versed in the bible please state the book, chapter and verse where Jesus wanted us to do so. Because if you were to actually read the bible in Matthew 6:9 it states:
This, then, is how you should pray:
" 'Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name,
That model prayer Jesus left for all of us so we have an idea how we are to pray to his father. Maybe you should follow what 4jesus stated and actually read and study it that way you don't sound so ignorant in your comment. You should also read what Exodus 20:4, 5 states on what the bible considers an idol and worship.
She looks like the 'Corpse Bride', don'tcha think?
If she isn't already, she will be a drug abuser in 2 years. You heard it here.
I saw her at Warped tour a few weeks ago, didnt realize who she was until at the end of the set she said "Im Taylor" then it clicked. I just wanna say, she has no stage presence, completly boring and generic music, with hired musicians as band members, also i saw the movie "The runaways" based on Joan Jett's first band, and she is a complete rip off of the main character "Cherie" watch the movie and you will see for yourself, i could just see her now going "Wow how cool, im gonna go and dress like that, and be a rock star" So lame!!!!
To Niwotmom : thank you–peace & blessings.
This is obviously the words of a confused person.
twnewsn.yolasite.com-
Who are you calling confused?
@Texasmom-As for the bible being read word for word. That is incorrect. I challenge you to speak to a priest in a Catholic church and present him with this question, "should the bible be read word for word"? You will be surprised as to his response. The bible was never intended to be read word for word. There are different versions of the bible as well. You read the King James Version. If you read a book to a child word for word, you have to translate it's meaning, because they don't understand everything that is being read to them. The bible is the same way. It needs to be translated to be understood correctly. I'm not talking about translation to fit our needs, I'm talking about understanding what the context is saying.
Second, the verse from John’s Gospel tells us only that the Bible was composed so we can be helped to believe Jesus is the Messiah. It does not say the Bible is all we need for salvation, much less that the Bible is all we need for theology; nor does it say the Bible is even necessary to believe in Christ. After all, the earliest Christians had no New Testament to which they could appeal; they learned from oral, rather than written, instruction. Until relatively recent times, the Bible was inaccessible to most people, either because they could not read or because the printing press had not been invented. All these people learned from oral instruction, passed down, generation to generation, by the Church.
sw-I guess I was drawn to it by the "jokes about the Catholic church" headline, being an alter boy in my youth.
In my opinion any faith that is worth beleiving does not need to be defended.
It does need to be defended when people lie and mock it. If your child is wronged about something he/she didn't do, do you just let it go, or do you defend him/her? The Catholic church is the same way. Yes, it does need to be defended against those who don't understand it. Being an alter boy in your youth, this is something that you shouldn't be questioing in the first place.
texas mom
to Niwotmom- I think that you have alot of balled up emotion just waiting to get out and Mary was there as a mother of Jesus and nothing else. She was the Virgin God chose. As for reading the bible we are supposed to take it word for word it is the sword and the light we are supposed to use and follow in our daily walk with the Lord. I have never seen it stated in a King James Bible anywhere about praying to Mary. Maybe when the Catholic church added it to theres it said that. The point is it doesn't matter what you believe and long as you have a personal relationship with Jesus and you have asked him to come into your heart. That is all that matters. Following it and living a sinless life is taken into fact as well. For those that don't believe in him JAKE that is your opinion and when you sit before him in judgement you will be weeping for him to let you into heaven and if you don't know him he will not know you. Isn't it better to believe and be wrong then not to believe and be wrong? There are going to be people who come against any religion and every religion thinks they are right. I just hope that we are all choosing the right one in the end. I am a Christian and am proud to call Jesus my savior and God my Lord.
First of all, I want to apologize for my attack on you. I didn't mean to come down so hard on you. Second of all, no I don't have a lot of balled up emotion as you put it. I know my faith, my Catholic Faith. You are not a Catholic. Mary is the Mother of God. But she is much more than just the mother of God. Your statement of "Mary was there as the Mother of Jesus, and nothing else" couldn't be further from the truth. Non-Catholic Christians are known for not praying to Mary. That's what you are taught. I have a friend who was Methodist and became a Catholic and before then, never prayed to Mary. Catholics honor and venerate Mary, because she was so deserving of this, because she said Yes to God. Mary is critical in our faith, and her son has asked us to pray to her to intercede for us. If she hadn't said Yes to God, do you think that you would be on this earth today? No, you wouldn't. Just because something isn't written in the bible, doesn't mean it didn't happen. That's one of the biggest misconceptions with protestants. "It's not in the bible, so it didn't happen". It doesn't work that way. Have you ever heard of the prayer, "Hail Mary"? If not, look it up on the internet. Mary is a very important person, not just the mother of Jesus and nothing else. I have a personal relationship with God, and it sounds like you do to. That's wonderful. As far as it not mattering what you believe, I disagree with you on that point. We as Catholics were given our foundation by Christ himself, and we believe him to be the Way, the Truth and the Life. We are all sinners because we are human beings. We are not perfection. We are asked to try lead a sinless life, but because we are human, that is impossible. That is why we as Catholics have the sacrament of penance, or confession. This is a sacrament that God himself gave us to confess our sins to him. This is not something that the protestant churches have. As for Jake, he is where he is, and it is not our place to judge him. Jesus knows and loves Jake, and accepts him where he is in his life. He created him, and he knows him inside and out. I don't, nor do you know, who will make it to heaven. I'm glad that you are a Christian. I would encourage you to do some research on Mary. You will be pleasantly surprised at what you find out about her. She's much more of an important than you think. God Bless!
sad just sad how the catholic church can warp the truth and a lie and the product is a person like this.....
what are all you religious types doing on this article anyways?
shouldn't you be reading the bible or something?
@SW-We are here defending our faith. Why are you here?
I guess I was drawn to it by the "jokes about the Catholic church" headline, being an alter boy in my youth.
In my opinion any faith that is worth beleiving does not need to be defended.
To niwotmom : I KNOW EUCHARIST IS WHAT MASS IS ALL ABOUT !! JESUS DID NOT PASS AROUND A PLATE FOR $$$$,HE DID NOT TELL THE APOSTLES TO SIT,STAND,KNEEL,SIT,STAND KNEEL ETC.–ALL RITUALS &PLENTY MORE. I HAVE FAITH, I TRY TO PRACTICE MY FAITH AS BEST AS I CAN. STOP JUDGING

My apologies to you. My intention was never to judge you. I was upset at something someone else had written and didn't mean to take that out on you. đŸ™‚ Also, there is no need to yell at me with all caps! I understand your frustration and again my apologies.
What's the difference between Taylor Momsen and the Panama Canal?
One's a busy ditch!

@Texasmom- what version of the bible or website are you getting all your terribly misinformed information from about catholicism? and what do you care about other peoples religions in the first place? as long as you have a personal relationship with God that you are happy with that is all that matters. Quit trying to bible thump (with inaccurate information) and chill out some.
Now to quote a movie that gets too much crap considering its thoughtful dialogue and points (just happens to come in the form of a comedy with "bad" language):
"Its not what you believe , its just that you have faith."
Jake-There is no right or wrong way to have a personal relationship with one's own imaginary friend.
Do you have an imaginary friend? Wow! I don't!
Just a genlte reminder to my Catholic buddies here. We do not have "services", we have the Mass. đŸ™‚
Taylor is a disgusting person, and a mockery to the faith!
felt i didn't need to read the article b/c all i could think was, "SHE is a model? i thought models were supposed to be pretty....."
Either that photo was taken after she came out of the bathroom from doing coke or it's the walk of shame to end all of them. Yuck.
dennisr-Thank you for that response to 4Jesus! I'm glad that I'm not the only one standing up and defending our faith!
texas mom-Sounds like someone got there panties in a twist and I have a right to what I want to say as well as you or anyone else and I will say them. Thanks for the post though I really appreciate it. May GOD be the judge of everyone not man.
Yes, you do have a right to express your thoughts. However, when you express blatant lies about what you know in regards to the Catholic Church, then yes, we are going to get our pantys in a knot. You don't know what your talking about.
@BillC-Well said!
texas mom-I agree with you 4jesus. I think that Catholics are misguided. They do pray to mary and saints which they don't need to. Catholics are not misguided. We follow what Jesus gave us. If that's misguided, then I guess your saying that Jesus didn't know what he was doing. Jesus himself asked us to pray to his mother, to intercede for him. Jesus said to do this, and now your saying we don't have too? Yes the bible states, that noone comes to the father except through Jesus. That's where intercessory prayer comes into play. The problem with reading the bible word for word, is that you miss the translation there. The bible was never intended to be read word for word, If we don't need to have intercessory prayer, then I guess Mary was here for nothing right? We Cathoilcs were given reconciliation by God. The priest is there to sit in for God. We are not confessing our sins to the priest! Whatever your beliefs may be about the Catholic church, they are very misguided.
I love these people that criticize what they don't really understand. Unless you've studied the Catholic religion in depth, don't attempt to analyze it.
I heard one guy on a commuter train, (non-Catholic) Evangelical, of course, trying to convince some young lady that "The Catholic Church BESTOWS GRACE on individuals depending on their position in the Church." How do you like that one?????? I could actually feel myself rising out of the seat. Fortunately, the young lady was smarter than that and didn't buy what he was selling.
Maybe she should've made her song "Going Down" about what she did to the casting director to get her 15 minutes of fame.
I support anyone that comments on the ridiculousness and hypocrisy of organized religion.
There is nothing ridiculous or hypocratic about it. If that's the way you feel, that's fine. You have your opinion. But most of us don't agree with that.
Even if the supporter is as dumb as a brick?
As for this poor screwed up girl. I feel for her and I feel that she needs to have some type of direction in her life. As a mother of a daughter I do not appreciate the things that are being put in front of them in todays society.
Now that, I agree with
Teenagers shouldn't be allowed to talk.
Totally agree.
I had to comment on this one. I got a good laugh from it. I have three teenagers, and there are those days!
Who is this girl and why should we care? She looks like she's on something.
Couldn't say it better myself. Honestly, I think is just another hopeless fame driven soul doing a cheap publicity stunt. As for her own personal views, I can't say they're wrong
To 4jesus: I am catholic and we do not worship idols or Mary. We venerate Mary the mother of God. To venerate means to honor which she so much deserves. Mary said yes to God's will which allowed the WORD to become flesh. We as catholic's worship only God!!! And as for reading the bible we are all encouraged to read the bible every day. Please do not judge, the only way to God is believing in his only son Jesus Christ.
Agreed! Nicely put!
Amen!!!!! Very well put.
4jesus - thank you for that gentle reminder to read the Holy Bible. I am RC & get caught up in the rituals of the church sevices & sometimes forget what it is really all about. As far as this young woman commenting about molestations - molesters come in all professions –there are some rotten apples as far as preists are concerned & there are some honest oneswho live their faith. Taylor is a lost little soul but she has the right to her opinion.

What do you mean you "get up in the rituals of the mass"? Your Catholic. The mass is the same today as it was when Jesus held the first mass at the Last Supper. The Eucharist is what the mass is about, and the word of God. Not just the bible.

the mass isnt the same it has changed since the first time we have added prayers and we have added other things over the years and its not JUST abpout the eucharist its about the whole mass if you just show up at the end and get the body and blood of christ thats not right you need to be there for the whole thing its about beingthere and showing your faith to God and Jesus
The real problem with the Catholic Church is they worship idols, such as Mary. Secondly, they do not encourage their members to read the Word of God, The Bible. How can one have a personal relationship with Jesus if one does not truly know who Jesus is? It is so very important for a Christian to read The Bible for themself. It is crucial.
I agree with you 4jesus.
The canon of the bible was set by the Catholic church. Do you trust their authority or not?
Catholic fixation on the pope is no weirder than protestant fixation on that book.
Lucky for us Catholics, Texas Mom isn't running the Vatican. Keep your thoughts in Texas. We don't tell you how to worship.
Not read the Bible?? Every Catholic service includes the exact same readings that any other Church has – FROM THE BIBLE! and the Homily is about the readings that came FROM THE BIBLE! Hmmmmm. Don't say things if you don't know the facts.
Sounds like someone got there panties in a twist and I have a right to what I want to say as well as you or anyone else and I will say them. Thanks for the post though I really appreciate it. May GOD be the judge of everyone not man.
@4jesus-The real problem with the Catholic Church is they worship idols, such as Mary. Secondly, they do not encourage their members to read the Word of God, The Bible. Excuse me, but I don't know where you got your information on the Catholic Church, but you are WRONG!!! I happen to be Catholic. We DO NOT and NEVER have worshiped idols OR Mary. Have you ever heard of intercessory prayer? Guess not. Jesus asks us to pray to his mother, to intercede for him. And for not encouraging our members to read the word of God. Another lie The Word of God is read every Sunday. We have the true prescense of Jesus in the Catholic Church. How dare you lie and say other wise about it. God is the center of our lives. Reading the bible is not a mecessity to being a Christian. I don't read my bible, does that make me a bad person?
uh huh. Because you know how to have a personal relationship with God? That's the key word- personal. There is no right way or wrong way, some enjoy reading the Bible, some would rather think about it, while others still prefer sitting in a Church. Having a relationship with Mary or any other saint is just that- having a relationship with them. Not using them instead of God or Jesus. I'm tired of people assuming things they know nothing about. Stop being so ignorant. And as many people have said- really, what Bible are you reading? Seeing as how there are over a thousand different translations to it and that people have changed the context of many passages to fit their own "beliefs", it kind of makes it hard to see where you're coming from, depending on which version you have. And to all you people who say "this is what God wants!" really? You have a direct communication with God and know exactly what he wants? Yeah, I didn't think so.
There is no right or wrong way to have a personal relationship with one's own imaginary friend.
First . . . Mary is not an idol. She is Christ's mother. We don't worship her. We ask for her intercession on our behalf.
The Bible was written years ago, using parables and translated numerous times, thus it is open to verious interpretations. There are also many versions of the Bible. Thus, Catholics do not rely on the Bible for all their information.
um we dont worship mary Jesus told us to love her and pray to her bedause thats his mother. and we do read the bible every time we go to church and we say prayers to saints and mary because they can help us we things are hard that why they are the paitron saint of somthing you dont know much about the catholic faith so dont judge it
Tell me, what does the word worship mean to you?
Alright do you even know ONE thing about the Catholic Church?!?!?! We don't "WORSHIP" Mary, we pray to her so that she can ask Jesus to forgive those who sin and to spiritually help us, same with the saints. Every day we read the bible and pray, the Catholic bible was the first Christian Bible in the world. The only difference between the Catholic bible and the Protestant bible is that the Protestant bible changed what the interpretation of the bible is, and you guys changed the meanings so you could live life more loosely and not the way God intended you guys to.
Dont be saying things about others if you dont know the facts
here we go again...another protestant who does not know squat about the catholic faith making comments about how we worship,clueless.....by the way, i'll bet a million dollars you don't follow the bible to the letter either,if you did, you would be a jew.
I was raised Catholic-I was read the bible by my mother and continued to read it myself. Went to school-read the bible. I don't dish other religions unless I've tried them.
Uh, you do realize your Jesus is also worshiped like an idol? And if I'm right, the ten commandments states you won't worship anyone but G-d. This is where I prefer Judaism and Islam. We've got prophets, but that is the farthest we will go. It's all adoni.
Must be a slow celebrity news day.....
I can't believe its taylor she kind of weaked me when i read this
I only liked her in Ron Howard's Grinch movie. She used to be cute.
Duh uh..she's super like her character Jenny in Gossip Girl, trying hard and a wannabe...can't stand her!
Ah, to be 16 and, like, super rebellious.
Let's all blame her mom for this one. She's the one who sold Taylor's soul to the devil.
Obviously she has no class whatsoever and is a complete poser as well! What a Stupid A-s Bimbo for making comments like that! Based on the persona she presents to the public, there is no doubt that she will be in rehab/therapy in due time!!!
Wow, somebody is trying to hard. if your not happy with something, someone, belief, idea, etc there's a way that you can express it without being disrespectful.
Teee, that's odd. I met her at the Kansas City Warped and she was really sweet. Her and the band all signed my CD and they were all really relaxed and jokey. I was really surprised that she was so chilled out.
Who is this screwball, bigot, knuckle head, dummy, poor excuse for a woman. Is it a womann or a freak?
Met her a couple weeks ago on the Vans Warped Tour. Perfectly polite but had this extremely snooty air about her that just reeked of "I'm too good for this". Girl's trying too hard.
trying too hard?!
trying to hard?!
