The final three on 'SYTYCD'

In between the segments about National Dance Day, "Step Up 3-D" and Gatorade (and no all-star encore routine – sadness), we actually had four tremendous solos from our remaining competitors on Thursday night's "So You Think You Can Dance" results show.

Each of them danced for their lives, even though the votes had already been cast. I actually preferred all of these routines to the group number by Dee Caspary, which came across as a bit of a jumbled mess.

I breathed a huge sigh of relief, as did judge Adam Shankman, when Cat Deeley announced that Lauren would be in the finale. All of the judges broke out into applause at this news, and it's hardly a secret which dancer they're pulling for to win it all.

I also found it intriguing that Nigel Lythgoe mentioned that the dancer with the most votes kept changing from week to week. Maybe Kent - who has never been in the bottom three - is not as inevitable after all? (Kudos to Cat, however, for pointing out that his place in the final three was hardly a jaw-dropper.)

Between AdeChike and Robert, it was anyone's guess which one would make it to the finale. Both have escaped the bottom three a few times, as of late. The judges clearly felt that AdeChike was not making enough progress to get there, and it turned out that the audience agreed. I'll always remember his hip-hop routine with Comfort, and that should play very well on the tour (assuming Courtney steps in for Comfort).

So, it's down to Kent, Lauren and Robert. Who do you think should be America's favorite dancer? Do you think the voters made the right choice this week? Share your thoughts on video, or in the comments below.

I hope the winner will be Lauren. She was incredible from the audition & never a disappointment throughout. Best of luck to her.

I like Kent & Robert, Kent has that OHIO thang going for him and Robert has that Hollywood thang going for him, I wish them both luck- but I'll be voting for Robert!....even though LAUREN will win.

I agree with Jan. We are voting for the FAVORITE, not the BEST. That's why I think Kent will win, but Lauren is more mature and a better dancer. None will have any problem making a living as dancers because they are incredibly talented. I'm sorry Alex got hurt, otherwise, he would be the overall winner (for me) I hope he comes back next season.

I just read an article stating some bloggers believe Mia Michaels is a racist. Firstly, I'd like to say "racist" should be considered the “R word" in that nobody needs to lable people with this term. It can be extremely damaging an assertion and should absolutely not be just thrown around by ignorant people who have no idea whether or not someone actually is a racist. Doing so "bomb-throwing" and should not be tolerated. Mia Michaels could be out of a job as judge just because some idiots have (mis) colored the public's percerption of her. That's as bad as the racism of which she is accused.

I think Mia judged fairly; Adechike is a good dancer. He's not a fine dancer or a great dancer. He's a technician, in my opinion, and somewhat robotic. He doesn't seem to flow, doesn't seem to get "dance", although he does get movement. And that’s the difference. Dance isn't only a series of well-executed movements (although that is a component)'s movements flowing into each other in an organic way. There should be involvement of the heart and the soul married to good or, ideally, flawless technique. Adechike doesn't get that and maybe he never will. And it doesn't make Mia "racist" for pointing that out.

Grow up, Americans....and stop labeling people racist just because you don't like or agree with the opinions or beliefs of others.

You have got to be kidding me. Adechike was clearly not the best dancer in the group by far. He was maybe top 7 or 8. Every week he wasn't in the bottom 3 was unreal. Mia is annoying as heck and she was nasty in her criticism of Adechike, but she wasn't wrong in it either. Oh and by the way, of the past 6 seasons, half of the winners have been black. It's not about race, is about talent and personality.

How long have you been watching this show. Last seasons winner was an brilliant young BLACK man. A couple of seasons before that was a black woman.

This is how the finale will terminate: The Winner of SYTYCD is KENT BOYD....First runner-up is LAUREN FRODERMAN....Second Runner-up is ROBERT ROLDAN........They should give Lauren some $$$ for being AMERICA'S FAVORITE FEMALE DANCER.....They did this when Joshua Allen won the $250,000 grand prize....They gave Katee $50,000.00 .......

I've been a Kent fan since the beginning, but have been very impressed by Robert in the recent weeks. His strong, masculine style on dances that call for it has been amazing. Kent does not have that.

I wish the judges would not state so openly thier picks for the finals and the final winner, as that influences voters.

Isn't that what judges are for? However, I like to think that people are more intelligent that to be totally swayed by what the judges have to say. I agree with all the comments about the judges but as it's Nigel's "party," he calls the shots. It is what it is.

I would agree with questioning the quality of the judges. This season's format did improve by pairing contestants with experienced dancers. However, the judges often seemed biased and even petty. I can't forget the comment by judge Mia regarding how she so missed Alex when the audience disagreed with her harsh critique of Adechike. Great choreographer, but lacks the vocabulary and ability to constructively critique the dancers broadly. Often she falls back on descriptive words not giving any additional insight from a "dance" perspective.

We are forgetting that the 3 best dancers, Alex, Billy, and Ashley, aren't even in the finale. The "top 3" are good, but they are not the BEST. Good luck to all of them, but the top 3 should have been Alex, Billy, and Ashley, based on their dancing alone.

The show is not America's BEST's America's FAVORITE dancer. As in previous years the winner will be the one who has captured the hearts of America [Benji, Russell, Joshua, etc.].

They are all great but Kent is my favorite for his enthusiasm and joy when he dances. And I think he has matured a lot since the start of the show. He is just 18, after all – I don't want to see him acting sophisticated. Or whatever you mean by 'mature'. To go on this show and test yourself in front of millions is all the proof of maturity I need.

Go Robert!!!! He's the best looking one.
Seriously, I respect all three because they are such talented dancers. However, I'm just not that big on Lauren. I think Robert is the most versatile of these dancers.

With Alex injured, these are the right top that Robert! All excellent dancers with great charm. Kent should head straight for Broadway as soon as he can:)

I agree on top 3. I would not be disappointed if Kent one...I love his personality and his dancing...but I am voting for Lauren. She, too, has a great personality and fab dancing...and it's a girl's turn to win, all things being equal, which they are.

I think this is the right group, too. I think Kent will win because of the teeny bopper vote but I would rather see Robert win because I think he is a more mature dancer and has really improved each week. Both Kent and Lauren have an advantage over Robert because they were featured each week during the audition process whereas Robert was not talked about until they selected the final 11. Viewers already were familiar with Kent & Lauren and liked them both, so they get more votes. But Robert has won me over with his dancing each week and I wish he would win.

Its hard to choose between Kent and Lauren, but since one has to be the winner I would say it should be Kent. He has probably had the most "stand out" or "memorable" performances this year.

Lauren should win, but Kent will win. Although they are about the same age, Lauren is leaps and bounds ahead of Kent in maturity. I think that is why she should win – as they are both very good dancers technically and have improved every week, and both have charming personalities, her maturity level is surpassing Kent's at the moment and that tips the scales in her favor for me. That will also make her very successful in the immediate future and much more of an all around marketable dancer. With a little bit more time to mature, Kent will be a force to be reckoned with. I have no doubt we'll be seeing him bringing down the house on Broadway one day and I would love to be there when he does!! As I am from Ohio, I do have a very soft spot for the Wapakoneta boy, and won't be too upset if he pulls this off. But at my house, Lauren's number will be the one we'll be dialing.

Kent is an incredible dancer and has hands down the most charm and personality of any dancer that has ever been on the show. His win will be well deserved. Bless him.

This was the right group. They have danced the best and have also improved. I loved watching AdeChike but he did not seem to make the improvements asked of him by the panel. I am sure he will not have any problem finding work within dance 🙂 It is going to be a great finale.
