Rosie O'Donnell gets OWN showThe hosts of "The View" may want to watch their backs. Former co-host Rosie O'Donnell is returning to the daytime talk-show arena with a gig from the Queen of all Media, Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey and O'Donnell announced yesterday that the 48-year-old comedian will host a fun, uplifting one-hour daily talk show for OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network beginning in 2011. "Rosie is an undeniable talent who has captivated TV audiences for nearly 20 years," said Winfrey, 56, who will step away from "The Oprah Winfrey Show" after 25 seasons in September 2011. "She's a true original, who brings her authentic voice, dynamic energy and pure passion to everything she does."
"It's an honor and a privilege to work with Oprah Winfrey on her network," added O'Donnell, who nabbed six Daytime Emmys for her 1996-2002 stint as host of "The Rosie O'Donnell Show." "I'm excited to be back on daytime television." Interestingly, O'Donnell may have been hinting at her new job when she criticized President Obama last month for visiting her former workplace, "The View." "I have mixed feelings about that," O'Donnell, moderator for "The View" from 2006-2007, said on her Sirius XM radio show. "I don't really think sitting presidents should go do fluffy daytime TV shows. Maybe an hour on Oprah or something."

Yeah, Oprah is probably going to regret this one. Rosie's funny...and I think she probably has some good points sometimes. But, she really is a liability. I lost a lot of respect for her when she went off on Tom Selleck on her show back in the day because he owns guns. I don't own a gun, and I don't advocate owning guns. But, a lot of nice people do. She really tore into him. I guess the worst part is that she totally set him up. It was really low brow.
Just because she says it like it is, she's unworthy of a show, c'mon y'all religious nuts!!! This is the XXI Century.

I think both Oprah & Rosie have run their course. Most tv isn't entertaining anymore.......reality tv, interview shows.Same old, same old. I think it's time to take a break & go for a walk instead.
Rosie sacrificed her career to speak the truth about gay issues when she publicly "came out" years ago. She lost her show and since then, society has progressed in regards to gay issues. Now she has her show back. Yes she's opinionated, yes she's blunt and can be rude. But the bottom line in she's funny as hell. Also, I don't always agree with her, but I admire how she will not back down to an aggressive male. The fact that she is hated by so many men is really very amusing and telling. She is more bold and brassy perhaps because she is gay, but even though, her opinions are still rebuffed by many; especially men. Now you can imagine what it is like for single educated straight moms like me. If Rosie's opinions and struggles can be heard and accepted, perhaps there is a chance for any issues and concerns that a mouse like me and my child with special needs will be heard.

Oprah, above all, is a smart business woman. Rosie's show was at the top of the ratings while it was on...and remember Rosie chose to go out on top. She won the Emmy EVERY year she was on. When she went on The View, ratings increased 27% from Meredith Viera's stint on the show. So people...uhm, hello? Get a grip and stop trash talking. Additionally, I had the pleasure of meeting her at a charity art auction in Boca Raton and she was so genuinely sweet, nice and funny. Don't hate or judge unless you've actually met the woman. My favorite talk show is Ellen. I watch her because she's a true entertainer. Now I'm going to add Rosie to that list. I think that was a smart move on Oprah's part. She's a businesswoman first and foremost and knows what will draw viewers in so I think it was a wise move to pick Rosie. No matter what people think of her or Oprah, Rosie has a huge following and Oprah needs programming in order for her network to succeed. Congrats to both women and I hope the show will do well...

I used to love watching Rosie's daytime show. Regardless of her personal lifestyle choices, her show was always very family friendly and entertaining. Now I listen to her radio show every morning on Sirius, and I love it too. I never got a chance to watch The View when she was on there, but from what I've heard, it was a pretty hostile environment by all 4 or 5 women that was never completely hidden from the camera's eye. Hard to single Rosie out for that one.
The ugly comments by many on this forum are just disgusting. It's really easy to hide behind an anonymous posting, isn't it? Exercise your choice and turn off the TV or radio and don't watch Rosie (or Oprah) if you don't want to. It's that easy. Being polite and courteous to others while expressing an opinion seems to be lost to many of you these days.
