Lady Gaga tops MTV VMA nominationsWell this is a shocker: The same woman whose music videos have been parodied all the way over in Afghanistan - and who is known for publicly describing her fear of getting her creativity stolen through her vagina - is the same woman who has 13 MTV Video Music Award nominations. Lady Gaga, who gave a bloody performance at the awards show last September, is up for a variety of Moonman awards, including “Best Pop Video,” “Best Female Video” and “Best Dance Video,” all for “Bad Romance.” This also means that Gaga has set two new records: The 24-year-old star is now the first female artist to have two videos nominated in the “Video of the Year” category – both “Bad Romance” and “Telephone,” featuring Beyonce, made the cut – and she has the most nominations ever in a VMA show.
But aside from MTV going Gaga, up-and-comers like Ke$ha and B.o.B. also received numerous nominations. Ke$ha is vying for the “Best New Artist," “Best Female Video” and “Best Pop Video” awards for “Tik Tok.” B.o.B., who partnered with Paramore’s Hayley Williams on “Airplanes,” is up for Moonmen in the "Best Collaboration," “Best Male Video,” “Best Hip Hop Video,” and “Video of the Year” categories for the "Airplanes" video. His collaboration with Bruno Mars on “Nothing on You” earned him a nod in the “Best Pop Video” category as well. Eminem, chart-topper that he is, is the most-nominated male artist at this year's VMA's with a total of eight, including "Best Male Video" and "Video of the Year" nods for "Not Afraid." Joining Eminem, B.o.B. and Lady Gaga in the “Video of the Year” category is indie group Florence + The Machine for their video “Dog Days are Over” and 30 Seconds to Mars for “Kings and Queens." Recently wed Alicia Keys is scheduled to perform at the awards show, along with Jay-Z, Pink, 30 Seconds to Mars, Katy Perry and Usher. The 2010 VMA’s kicks off in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12 at 9 p.m.

The wait was extended by at least 20 minutes cuz they were searching for a missing child who was separated from her mom but was fortunately found. Adam's never been accused of being a diva except by a few people who like to think he is!!!! Are you sure your friend was really there?????
I have to say that I love Gaga but I love Adam even more & I think they totally ignored him...c'mon, even tho Adam likes Ke$ha, that girl can't sing a note live. But, I suppose some day he'll get recognized but then, again, a lot of talented singers have never won awards.
Actually Adam is anything but a diva, anyone that has ever worked with him or interviewed him agrees that he is very kind and friendly and just a nice guy. There has never been a negative comment. It was unfortunate that people have had to wait in the heat, it has been a real hot summer. Imagine doing what he does out in the heat and he still rocks it. Going to three concerts one in Atlanta and two in Florida and can't wait. He is amazing and was robbed on the VMA's
I like Adam, but really he has not paid his dues yet..and I am afraid he is getting a bit full of himself. My friend went to his concert in Vegas last week, he was about an hour late to get on stage whilst all the fans stood roasting in the hot Vegas summer sun. When he did finally come on he had the nerve to complain about the heat! He was in an air conditioned room while everyone else was actually enduring the heat outside waiting for him to stop the diva act and perform.
Was your friend complaining? I mean I went to his show in Charlotte, NC and it was about the same amount of time between sets. His fans aren't really complaining. I have read some of the comments being made by his fans attending the Vegas show and I didn't see any complaints only how good the show was.Because as soon as he sets foot on stage the crowd goes crazy. You simply forget all the waiting you did. I waited outside starting at 1:30 just to get a good spot. People waiting were having a good time, singing his music, etc to pass the time.
Adam has been in the entertainment industry longer than just his time on Idol, he has paid his dues to get where he is.
I have tickets to both of his shows in Atlanta and I can't wait.
Adam WAS snubbed! What a shame! Talent is talent and no one should be snubbed like this! I don't understand it! Adam's concerts are selling out, his music is selling. He's a awesome performer! Too bad!!!!!!!!!!!

These are supposed to be the Video Music Awards and should have something to do with music video performance not just talent. GaGa is amazing, I have her CD's and would love to see her in concert. I have seen Ke$ha twice in concert and like them both. But as far as Music Video's go Adam Lambert has consistantly been in the top 10 on VHI Top 20 Countdown more than any of the others, and thus should have been recognized.
Adam's video's have also been # 1 this year, more than ANYONE else on VH1 which is an MTV station. That should meam something to how they figure top video's.

I guess everyone has a past but I don't think we give awards based on past an artist's past. I would like to believe that we give awards based on talent. When we look at Lady Gaga's talent she has great talent and her music is awsome, thats what I believe.

The Black Eyed Peas were snubbed AGAIN from the VMAs, just like last year. How did complete CRAP like "Ke$ha" get nominated and the Peas, who had the biggest year in music, got nothing? It is just ridiculous....

It's become quite obvious that some of the people posting here, know absolutely NOTHING about this talented young lady. To the oblivious like Mark McKee: she can't really do anything musically? Excuse me? She writes her own AND other artists music, comes up with her own ideas for videos, is a fantastic pianist and is amazing to see live. When you go to her concerts; there is no auto-tune, no lip-syncing, her voice is powerful and the dancing is perfect to match. You really haven't listened to her music, really haven't watched her videos, really haven't been to her concerts and seen her perform live, really don't know anything about her....and you probably really don't care because you don't really like her...but then why are you here? Maybe before spouting your mouth off like you really know someone or something, you should get your facts straight first.
P.S – Lol, also for people who are still actually believing this, she confirmed it a long time ago....she's NOT gay or a tranny! So get over it and get over yourselves already, thanks!

@Kathy thanks! I will be attending her concerts soon and pretty excited about it. I am majoring in music and exposed to all types and genres of music. This chick is the next big thing. Madonna and MJ of course are pretty amazing but we have to let go of the past and look towards the future and be progressive as a society. Of course, we shall always remember the greats though.

I can't stand her music (it's just shallow dance music) and her self-important ego (it just comes off as pretentious and phony), but the woman does have talent and puts her all into every performance and music video. I still think she has a long way to go before she can actually be taken seriously as an artist with depth and substance, she's obviously no run off the mill pop star. I just hope eventually she will get over herself and actually have the music to back up her whole "eccentric" gimmick, otherwise, for now she deserves the awards she's getting when it comes to her music videos, her actual music, not so much, she's entirely overrated at the moment in regards to that.
Here's what's really sad: When you look at all of the nominees in most of the major categories not involving Rock, none of the nominees even play instruments during their live shows. (Yes, I know "Lady" Gaga performed with Elton John behind a piano, but most of her shows she just sings – no instrument.)
Sad, the state of music. Since the 80's hairbands there really hasn't been a standout musician who REALLY knows his instrument backwards and forwards, can tune it himself/herself and play solos. Sad.

I remember a time back in the 80's and first part of the 90's when MTV was hip and anti establishment. Now they are sell outs, declining credibility, and have dropped to mind numbing levels of pure stupidity each day with moronic Reality TV while still claiming to be "Music Television". The only reason they even nominated that no talented "thing" was ploy to claim to have some kind of relevance remaining in the declining music industry. Why can't MTV and the irrelevant VMA's just die now?

I dunno, regardless of how you feel about her or her music, she does make awesome videos and puts a lot of effort into them. They're by far the best videos amongst mainstream music, which is all that's going to be considered, that I've seen since My Chemical Romance.
Yeah, personally I'm just not a fan of her music and I'm especially not a fan of her self-centered self-indulgent ego, but she's definitely talented and she seems to put a whole lot of effort into both her music videos and her live performances. I give her credit when credit is due.

Vickie, dear, these are not the grammy awards, these are the video awards. The awards are for the videos, not the songs. How good a video is doesn't go hand in hand with the song. I have seen great songs have terrible videos, and have seen bad songs have amazing videos.

Honestly, I love all 3 of his videos, FYE, WWFM and IIHY. So I would have been happy with a nom for any of these.

Sorry JCG, but you don't know what you're talking about. I just came from Gaga's Kansas City concert a few hours ago, and she was a PHENOMENAL live performer! She sang and danced and played the piano all LIVE, no auto-tune, no lip-synching...the dance numbers were great, and the ballads divine. She deserves all the accolades coming her way, and her work on behalf of LGBT teens is so wonderful. She's got my vote for queen, and I'm no teenage know-nothing. I'm almost fifty and I've seen a lot of musical acts come and go...this lady is a real musician and performer...she's here to stay!!
