Fox exec: No new 'Idol' judges announcement yet

Fans of “American Idol” are going to have to wait a little bit longer for an official announcement of the new judges.

"No one has signed a deal yet on either side of the camera for this year that wasn't there last year,” said Peter Rice, chairman of entertainment for Fox Networks Group at the Television Critics Association Press Tour.

Speculation has run rampant since judge Ellen DeGeneres announced last week that she would be following fellow judge Simon Cowell’s lead in leaving the show. Following that announcement have been reports that judge Kara DioGuardi is also out and Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler are in as replacements.

Rice told attendees of a TCA panel that "Much that has been written is accurate. Some has been wildly inaccurate."

He confirmed that Fox officials met with DeGeneres weeks ago and learned that she would not be continuing with the show, but he declined to discuss DioGuardi’s future.

And as for reports about Lopez and Tyler, Rice remained mum.

"I truly wish we could walk out the panel of judges for next year,” he said. “I'm really sorry that's not going to happen. If we had signed deals that would have happened."

J LO would be perfect for IDOL, she has STAGE experience herself, she is a singer, dancer, actress and brilliant businesswoman with a terrific personality. Lopez is in tune with TODAY'S music, Simon Cowell never had a clue when it came to Top 40 music.
Justin Timberlake and Sean Combs would also be great for IDOL!

I categoricaly deny that my dog Lassie has been asked to be a judge. She is too busy protecting small children from abondoned mine shafts.

I really like the idea of Jennifer Lopez judging. She seems like she'd be brutally honest but in a way that wouldn't just destroy someone. I do NOT like the idea of Steven Tyler judging. That just seems like a total mismatch for the show. I really wish they could get Harry Connick Jr. to judge full time. I think he'd be amazing.
