What President Obama has on his iPod

Judging from the mix of musical talents that tend to drop by the White House - such as Paul McCartney, Stevie Wonder and the Jonas Brothers, all of whom were in attendance for "In Performance at the White House" Wednesday night - it's not a surprise that President Obama's iPod is fairly eclectic.

While he doesn't have an iPhone yet, he does have "a great iPod," he assured the hosts of "The View."

"You name a song, I've got it," the President said. "I’ve got Jay Z on there. I’ve got Frank Sinatra on there. I’ve got Maria Callas on there..."

But somehow, there's one ridiculously popular teen singer Obama has left off his playlist: "I do not have Justin Bieber," he admitted.

I'm tired of Obama doing all these shows and going on vacations. Yes, he may not be going on outings as much as Bush, but Bush was not faced with a collapsing economy and this high of a rate of unemployment. And when a crisis did happen (9/11), Bush was there as quick as he possibly could. When the Gulf Coast oil spill happened, Obama took a while to get down there. Bush was the one who implemented the removal of soldiers from Iraq, Obama has just overseen the operation. And while people may be saying our economy is getting better, my parents lose half their salaries to taxes to pay for the poor and free health care for people who think they can just squeak by on the wings of hard working Americans. Just my input, hope you all have a nice day.

  4. Huh??

Ok, that's great that he has an iPod, but on May 9, 2010 at his Hampton University commencement speech he said:

"With iPods and iPads and Xboxes and PlayStations, - none of which I know how to work - information becomes a distraction, a diversion, a form of entertainment, rather than a tool of empowerment, rather than the means of emancipation," Obama said.

This guy is a first-class LIAR. If he has to lie about iPods, you can only imagine what else he's lying about...

He is not a liar. You cannot speak to what the new communications age and equipment has brought to each individual who uses the various devices. That is not yours to define and belongs to each individual. Try opening your closed minded ideas and see the new age,

      "Yes," replied the President.
      "Beyond the Realms of Death."
      "I...I don't have that one..."
      "Out!" the host hollered.
"Wait!" begged the President, "I just haven't ripped that to iTunes yet! It is from the 1989 British Steel album!"
      "Wrong date! Wrong album! Out!"
The President sobbed and was escorted from the stage.

I Believe that everyone, including the President needs some time off to relax and collect busy thoughts. A fun tv show is ok because if the President's target audience is housewives, where else is he going to find them? If his target audience were going to be the sporty, golf loving community.....I think he would have shown up at some golf tournament. However, I also agree that there is a time and place for everything. I feel that timing is what Obama got wrong here. There are much more important places that he should be right now. Perhaps on the front lines in Iraq/Afghanistan or on a beach cleaning oil. If you look at real lives, especially our military's, you would notice that Obama has done so much damage to our country since he took office. He just looks good and plays well when he is on camera. New laws are where the proof in the pudding lie.

It doesn't matter who is in office, the Bush types or the Obama types.....Americans will never be happy with anyone in office. That's one of our (America's) biggest problems......we are all self serving.

Women would but away such small ideas. You never hear a man commenting on another mans crotch, stomach, or any other physical parts. I dont understand why people always are complaining about how the "big bad capitalists" are evil because they make money. Get a life people, go to college, get a well paying job. This is a capitalist country where life is what you make of it. Stop looking for help from the government financially. You will find that the people who work for America's large corporations, and make a lot of money, are there because they are intelligent and good at what they do. I dont agree with reform because I see first hand the laziness of my generation, and giving us handouts is only going to make it worse. "Free money"- is useless, we need to teach young American's to work for everything they have. I'm 20 just in case you wanted to know, and I'm pursuing my college education-specifically going into the oil/natural gas exploration field.
Just remember people dont need Free Money, they need to learn to earn it themselves.

It is not about making money. It is about the lies, fraud, misusing of funds, and nearly collapsing the moneyary system of the USA and the world all for GREED. Those people whose retirements funds were invested through various organizations no longer have retirement. So in their retirement now, though they worked and put back is no longer there because of voracious greed. Because of that , these citzens will now have to be supported by so call free money. The big guys got away with the money they worked their entire lives to have. Not one has been charged and brought to trial or had to return the money. So perhaps your ideology does not take into account that these big rich capitalistic dogs complain about taxes and "free money people" of while they live their lives luxuriously, have placed millions of hard working Americans on some type of welfare; which was not of the hard working people's own making. I am sure they appreciate you and your agreeing buddy's heart warming thoughts in support of the greedy.

The biigest problem with OWEbama is the selling the Country out for votes, that is actually a pretty big problem. I know that is a bit complicated but try people try, your future depnds on it as much as ours.

President Obama (you spelled his name incorrectly), isnot selling votes. That right belongs to the conservatives on the Supreme Court. Corporations, American or foreign, citizens American or foreign, now have the right to influence America's citizens elections with an unlimited amount of capital. Will the money deals be made for all no matter the race of the individual running for office. How do you say-– GOOD BYE DEMOCRACY!--HELLO GREEDY

Wow you have used this forum to push your political arguments. And 6 years from now if Obama is still blaming Bush, can we maybe say that Obama caused some of the problems? We are 13 trillion in debt people! You think he is intelligent? No, he is just glued to opinion polls so he can tell all of you robots what you want to hear. You all are pawns! Being a pop star and having charisma does not make you a good president, and his policies are destroying this country. You can say all you want about the capitalism, but under capitalism more people have come out of poverty than any other economic system on the planet...why do you think China adopted it? So get a clue people!

I don't see why everyone is so supportive of Obama. Yes, he is our president. Yes, he is 'trying' to fix problems.
The reason a lot of people voted for him though is because he is black; half black mind you. I know many people who said they were voting for him because they didn't want an "old white guy" as president. Has americans dooped so low to basically return to racism?
Mr. Obama is our president now, and I'm sure he's trying. Just as every president before him. Though, like many people, I feel that him going on an overdone, or any, talk-show is poor time management and a bad way to appeal to those informed Americans who actually care and read into politics. He is wasting his time talking about his iPod when he should be working on reforms that will actually help.
For anyone ranking on Bush. If you all hated him so much, why was he re-elected? Don't complain when you helped cause the "problem". He tried as a president just as Obama is trying now. Not everyone can make great choices.
As an American it is your duty to be informed and it is your responsibility to voice your opinion to our government. Many of you are lacking in this feild and shouldn't be allowed to complain until you try to fix what you despise in our government.
Stop putting Obama on a medistle and stop pushing Bush into the ground. I may be swayed by the fact I am currently a military child, maybe not, but there is absolutely no reason to be supportive of Obama until he actually does something, instead of his pep-talks and false promises.

How ignorant can people get expecting the president to make things happen over night or less than a year when this country has been ran in the ground for the last 10 yrs or so because of people running this country to benefit themselves and their weathy friends that looks down on the working class I don't have a problem with weathy or rich people as long as they are not cheating, taking, stealing and running games with the American people and brainwashing, or putting fear in people like the Republican Party has been doing as long as I can remember. I don't understand how people can say the things about Obama when they don't have the facts and try and turn it around to be incorrect information that's called hating or just that ignorant trying not to give him any credit I guess the poor working class people that loves to hate doesn't relize that those rich politicians are not thinking about them either I hope people get out there and Vote in these little elections like they did to Vote for the President and Vote those under-cover Klans out This country do not need those kind of people running this country anymore ! trying keep people from comming together to make this a better country or continue to destroy it. Nothing Obama has promised in terms of the wars or unemployment have come true. The whole issue with immigration is a mess! The record breaking deficit with minimal return at best is a joke. I didnt expect Obama to fix everything in 2 years but we are many many years from any kind of rebound. Also the economic problems stemmed from the Democratic run congress the last 2 years of Bush's presidency. Not saying ending these two wars wouldnt hurt but if you end the wars all the soldiers are going to come home and not have a job waiting for them when they get here. We are in a whole lot of trouble and I dont see a real leader among any party. nobody wants to represent all of America. They only want to represent those who will help them get elected which will keep the country divided for way too long.

Maybe he better stop pandering to the ipod and start protecting his own citizens instead of illegals....the View is all Democrat, except for Elizabeth, who is excellent at holding her own against the other hags. What difference does it make about saved jobs instead of new jobs. President Obama said those people jobs saved care. That never occurred to her. Also, those people will not have to further increase unemployment. Commen sense Elizabeth. And you went to college Elizabeth? Perhaps if she were not trying to "get" the President, she could have asked a more pertinent question.

Cripes, he wasn't wasting his time. He WAS at work. "The View" regardless of what you think of the show, has an audience and he is talking about his policies on a public TV Show to that audience. Maybe you think that audience should be marginalized because it isn't CNN. However, he is getting the word out about his policies, or at least one of the ways is to get hte word out to go where the people you want to reach are, so getting out the word is a legitmate Presidential Function, and while maybe it isn't the most pressing thing on his agenda, he can be reached anywhere he is in the world including the toliet, if he is immediately needed. Isn't technology grand?! He didn't wreck our economy, 8 years of George Bush and cronies did it and now we are the zoo-keepers who have to clean up after the herd of elephants. Frankly, the Republicans left a large stinkin load, and continue to dump on the middle class of this country to protect the rich and powerful, and they only way they do it is when stupid people think the Republicnas care about them.

As people who do not see/know everything, we can only assume through what we see/know on the outside. Seeing him on the View apparently gives people enough fuel to say that Obama is wasting his time. Of course, he's doing stuff behind the scenes that no one really notices. All of this is debatable.

All I can say is if you disagree with him – get out and cast your vote. I personally think that he is the worst thing that could have happened to this country – but as all of the other posts so artfully point out – there are many people who dont agree with me. I just think you won't feel so cozy next year when you have to pay out your hard earned money in increased taxes to pay for benefits and programs most of you won't ever receive. I don't mind paying my fair share – but I don't think my government should continually reset the bar as to what they believe their right to my earnings.

That said – it would appear that there are many of you who would happily work for free and give your money back to Mr Obama so he can redistribute it out to everyone else on your behalf. IPod – who cares what he listens to... he isn't my role model, he isnt my friend and he isn't my muse...

With all due respect to the rest of you out there – you have no idea whats going down if you think what is happening is okay...best of luck

Our previous President George W. Bush has spent more time on Vacation than any other president in History. It is a fact, look it up. So before you go trashing President Obama for making an appearance on a TV Show know your facts first. No President is perfect, we all know that. What we should all be doing is trying to come together to work on solutions to fix this countries problems instead of blaming President Obama for everything! He has inherited the some of the worst issues in our countries history & I am amazed that people really think that he has failed as a President since the turn-a-round was not instant. Our country was ran into the ground for 8years prior to President Obama taking office...have we forgotten this. Give the man a chance to do his job and instead of being part of the problem....trying being part of the solution for a change!!!

Finally...if you're too stupid to know these things, your opinion doesn't really matter.

He's intelligent and is making a genuine effort to run the country with the help he's been stuck with, and this is an example of him connecting with people. Hey, i live in DC and have lived in the area since Bush 1, Clinton, Bush II, and now Obama...President Obama is not doing anything other presidents have not done..We're not turning into a socialist country, there are no secret muslims running the country, corporate america has not relocated offshore to the Bahamas, lesbians and gays are not dancing in the streets with no clothes, the top leadership of the military has not resigned in protest...In fact quite the opposite: the president has shown he's a moderate, but a democrat. We continue to spend large amounts of money on two wars, and defense..corporate america is building up large cash reserves..I happen to believe America spoke clearly in 2008 when we threw out the corporate, oil barons, and deregulators of the Bush administration. America voted for change: Health Care, a new energy policy, and financial reform...you will get your chance to run the country back into the ground in 2012, but you don't have any legitimate candidates or a vision of moving forward, do you?

Our past president spent more time on vacation than any other president in history, started a war where there was a need for one, didn't deal with wall street, banking industry, health care, immigration etc. So for the past 8 years we had president that didn't deal with issues, at least this is trying to clean up Bush's mess. Whether we like the current president or not we or at least I have to give him credit for at least trying to do the right, make him more accessible to the public view, let people know what's going on and he's not sitting behind the wall of the white house, crawford, TX and kennbunkport, ME.

All you Bush/Republican/anti-Obamaians, it seemed to be okay with you that Bush took a vacation for two weeks out of every month, but Obama can't make a single appearance on a talk show that a lot of our fellow Americans watch, whether good or bad, half way into his second year. Well, to all you Obama lovers we will see how many "normal" people agree with you in November when the dumbocrats hopefully lose. You can complain about Bush and his golfing but Obama has been golfing more in the short time as president than Bush did in 8 years! Talk about hypocrites! Why is is always ok when the dems break the law and back room deals are cut but if the republicans did that, it would be hell to pay. And yes, Obama is RUINING our great country.

@John, you pretend that you are the one who isn't duped by a political party; but what's funny is that you are just being duped by Republicans; yet you have convinced yourself that you are the free thinking one.

I don't know, I think Barack and Justin would make a cute couple. I mean, intellectually, they're at the same level and they probably spend an equal amount of time worrying over the country's economic problems.
