Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr tie the knot

First comes a degree and then comes marriage…if you’re Orlando Bloom.

The British actor tied the knot with his fiancée, supermodel Miranda Kerr, on Wednesday night, CNN has learned.

The media has speculated this congratulatory news was on its way since at least 2008, when a report surfaced that the two were engaged, although Bloom, 33, and Kerr, 27, denied it. They shirked rumors of an engagement again when the Victoria's Secret model was spotted wearing a ring in May, and finally confirmed their engagement in late June.

Bloom, who has been dating Kerr for nearly three years, told reporters last November when queried about the pesky engagement rumors that the two were "enjoying our time together now."

Miranda Kerr is an Australian model who over the years has worked hard in the industry to make a name for herself and was choosen to become a victoria secret supermodel, she is one of there angels. She is a down to earth gorgeous aussie girl. Stop slagging her and Orlando they have dated for years and in a tough world have managed to fine each other. Congratulations guys hope you have a wonderful life together and Australia loves you both 🙂

it's all in my name...give it a rest.

stop being haters. they just got married, why can't anyone congratulate them for that? they're about to embark on a journey of marriage and bliss. leave them alone. if you have something negative to say, keep it to yourself.

and to everyone else out there, if you're that worried about what your child sees on tv and elsewhere, then shouldn't it be your job to monitor what they're exposed to?

i don't understand how most of you people on here don't know who orlando bloom and miranda kerr are. i mean seriously. where have you all been? obviously you guys haven't seen pirates of the caribbean or lord of the rings, which were pretty big blcokbusters. as for miranda kerr, i'm sure all of you have seen the victoria secrets ad.

as for the other people who have a problem with models...get a life! i mean seriously, just leave them alone. why do you care about these models? it's their lives, not ours. if you're worried about your kids seeing them, then you should put more of an effort to prevent what they see. i mean seriously. stop complaining. i

Jeeze, people...what a sad, bitter bunch you are. They are both beautiful, accomplished celebrities who have it all. And if all you can do is cut them down because of their success, that demeans YOU, not them. I wish them both all the best and though I don't have a VS body, I've always enjoyed Orlando's movies. When did the average American become so jealous and cruel?

Most people in this country don't realize he's a well trained actor who has on occasion had to actually defend his career of hugely commercial films, as if he was a sellout. So he skipped graduation because he actually got a job before finishing. Many would jump at the chance to do the same. She actually looks like kind of a sweet girl, at least in this picture. He looks like he's happy, "in a good place". I wish them well.

Hey models and actors all need some love – it is the culture of our world that makes them famous. Everyone wants to see how the famous live, love, and of course fail. (Lindsey Lohan) Normal everyday people could not nor want to live the "famous" lifestyle. I 'd like to have the money that comes with fame but would not like to have my private life put out in the public eye for everyone to judge.

I wish this couple the best, lots of love & happiness, lots of money, lots of success! All the envious nay-sayers should just look at themselves at the mirror and with their own hand "pretend" to wipe off their faces the following (1) negativity (2) envy (3) depression. Once they do that, at least 3 times a day every day for a month, they will feel a little better about themselves, their world, and will not be so bitter for some other people's happiness, they will also attract positive supportive people if they become one. It is all inside your heads people. Wise up!

Cause first of all you're on the freakin' entertainment section !!!! Second stop hating her cause she's gorgous, tall and skinny and makes tons of money. If you never heard of her its cause you live under a rock and you're probably ugly too since you never heard about fashion or VS.

Because Anna, based on the bulk of comments on CNN, most of those that reply are close minded individuals who have nothing better to do than complain without offering better ideas (that’s across the board on virtually all articles, not just this one). If these CNN readers make up an accurate cross section of Americans, it’s no wonder this country has so many problems. Your comment is spot on.

It's not a "comeback." It's actual reasoning; perhaps if you tried it you would understand. Instead of attacking others on a forum by telling them to shut up, perhaps you could get some class and learn to respond with some sense. Telling others to get a life on a forum is quite immature; I would say your defense of the comment does the same. People should stop justifying why they waste their time and just admit it already. I already have, but will you?

Geeeze people. These two didn't just run to Vegas and get hitched after only dating for a month like many do. Those marriages typically fail. They've been together for years. I hope they are happy and that their marriage lasts. You must be pretty miserable yourself if you are wishing that someone elses marriage fails.

By the way, for those that claim these two are nobodys. Hes a VERY successful actor and shes a VERY successful model. Millions of people love them both. Come out of your box.

  33. Common Sense

SUPERMODEL: (n) refers to a highly-paid fashion model who usually has a worldwide reputation and often a background in haute couture and commercial modeling.

So when you model for Victoria's Secret, walk the runway for brands such as Levi's, Rock & Republic, Baby Phat, Roberto Cavalli, Neiman Marcus, LAMB and appear in magazines such as Elle, Cosmopolitan, Glamour, Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, earning $3.5 million in 2008, you would be considered a supermodel.

Orlando Bloom's last ten years in the film industry: Three Lord of the Rings films, Black Hawk Down, Three Pirates of the Caribbean films, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Elizabethtown giving him ten solid-to-blockbuster films in ten years.

So, now that you have been educated, try using some knowledge, even if it is few and far between.

Are you kidding me? Never heard of her? She's one of THE most known Victoria's Secret Models. Look at their catalogs, ads, anything of theirs and you'll quickly see her. And you don't KNOW her, so how can you say she's superficial or materialistic. Just because someone is a model doesn't make them that way. Don't judge a book by it's cover people, it just makes you look judgemental, jealous and petty. Congratulations to them and I wish them the best.

It seems that the people who make the worse comments are always lacking in self cofidence and esteem so they lash out at people who have atleast done something with their lives. Because the new Mrs. Bloom is a beautiful model doesn't automatically make her a witch or make her unable to have a conversation. People have a way of perceving things in a way that is totally opposite of how it actually is. In regards to Mr. Bloom's honoray degree it is not an insult to people who earned their degree. The majority of the time it is voting on by a student council who they want to select to speak and receive a degree at the ceremony. Plus you don't know if it was awarded to him because of his movie work or charitable works. I wish them well in what ever they do and I hope they have a very happy life together.

Or at least one with a career that won't fall apart after she's 35? I admire Matt Damon for marrying a nobody, a bartender from Miami. Now that's something I can get behind. Yes she may not be a doctor but at least that leaves hope for us regular girls lol. Seriously I am so sick and tired of male celebrities only dating fellow actresses and models. It's like a super clique with no hope for regular outsiders to infiltrate, with a few rare exceptions like Matt Damon.

I don't think it is fair to call people ignorant because they may not know who one or both of these people are. Maybe they don't read celebrity style news. Orlando Bloom is a little more hard to believe people don't know, due to some of the movie roles he's been in. But still, it's kind of harsh on your part to call people ignorant. Maybe they don't like to read news as most of it is nothing but bad news for the most part.

We can assume she has no great qualification but why does she need any degree/education when she can can just strip, put a bra and earn millions of easy money. Of course she will claim this is really a lot of hard work, I have to get up at 10am, put make up and strip and then they make me wait for hours and then finally then I have to pout my lips, expand my chest and take a few pictures. After all this hard work I have to now relax and have a blast at nightclub. By the way Orlando, enjoy it while it lasts. Hope u have prenup, its too late anyway.

Yes, because there is so LITTLE space on the web, heaven forbid we waste any precious few kilobytes with "news" like this! I mean really...compared to 99% of the things on the web, you think THIS is wasting space?

Orlando Bloom is very well known, at least in the US. It is surprising that so many people don't recognize him. The Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and various other films like Elizabethtown, Troy, Black Hawk Down, etc...

As for the model, as a group Victorias Secret models are world-famous with their annual fashion show on network TV and in ads everywhere. To say I can remember her over any other, maybe not, but she is famous for her job.

As for the stereotyping – people assume because of these individuals jobs that they are worthless as human beings otherwise, why? As another poster mentioned, Orlando Bloom could well deserve the degree he was awarded. As to the model, do you think Victoria's Secret advertises to men and only places women in these clothes as eye-candy? No, there is a legitimate business to women that the ads are based around, and many women actually prefer VS clothing for comfort and longevity as it is a high-end brand - as unrelated as this may seem, it's like saying Apple only makes products for people to go "ooo, he's carrying an Apple laptop" or something – what others think may be a bonus, but it isn't why people buy these products.

I'm not surprised that a lot of people DON'T know him! He's not a household name like say Tom Cruise, Bruce Willis, Tom Hanks, etc. If he was the main star in a film he would not draw large crowds. People went to see the Caribbean Pirate films for Johnny Depp not Orlando Bloom. In Black Hawk Down it's a culmination of Josh Hartnett, Eric Bana, Tom Sizemore, and Ewan McGregor. The movie Elizabethtown flopped at the box office. It didn't make big money. Lord of the Ring films was also a culmination of stars, Elijah Wood, Cate Blanchett, and Sean Astin. Orlando Bloom is NOT a household name.

Super Model.....a term born from ego, nothing more, nothing less. Nice try with the "Common Sense" definition though. Its from ego....because there's other models of course...then someone came along and after they made more money than other models said oh no you need more attention you aren't just a one of those "poor struggling models" you are a "Super Model!".......what other profession does this? When lawyers start out they don't all make the big bucks, when they gain experience and open their own law firm making millions do they go "I'm a super lawyer now!".....Doctors...doctors don't make massive salaries fresh from getting their degree....(depends what speciality you are) ....as they progress in their career , you know SAVING LIVES, do they go "I'm a SUPER doctor now!"....um..no....face it we are hard pressed to find a more egotistical "career path" as a model....sorry SUPER model *rolls eyes*

The term "super model" came about approximately in the 80's when you were either a print model (magazines) OR a runway model. Being in both just never happened. One year, clothing manufactures starting using the print models on the runway to make their advertisements come to life. That's where "Super Model" came from..not that they're super in any other way...but that they were both in print and on the runway. Now you know!
