Brad Pitt joins 'World War Z'Let the zombie takeover continue. The adaptation of Max Brooks' "World War Z," a novel recounting a zombie apocalypse from the first-hand accounts of those who survived it, is moving forward, now with Brad Pitt officially attached to the vehicle, MTV reports. Pitt’s Plan B production company wrestled the rights to the project away from Leonardo DiCaprio’s Appian Way back in 2007, and while it was rumored that Pitt would play the lead, Brooks didn’t hear of Pitt's attachment until this year's preview night at Comic-Con. “Quantum of Solace” director Marc Forster is still supposed to direct, and a revision of the script has been penned by "Lions for Lambs" writer/producer Matthew Michael Carnahan. The movie is aiming for a summer 2012 release. |

Why did Obama have a date with Brad Pitt the day before they release employment data?
If you have the worst unemployment rate data in 25 years coming out, you'd think he could hold off the Bromace with Brad Pitt.

If they stick with the zombie apocalypse theme of the book–the idea that zombies would be a world wide catastrophe not unlike meteors, plague, tsunami's etc–the movie will be great. If they revert to the small band of survivors stuck in some place. . . I'll be really disappointed : (
Playing a zombie pretty much sums up Brad's acting style.
Nice!
for once he does not have to pretend
Fantastic book, my all time favourite. I just hope the movie does it justice!
The book is amazing...hope the movie is half as good. Would have preferred to see Leo in this role, given a choice, but Brad should do fine.
I can see it now...Left for dead the movie....
Brad Pitt- Nick
Leonardo Decaprio- Ellis
(guy who played as Uncle Phil in the Fresh Prince) – Coach
(guy who was in Save the last dance) – Louis
(Actress who played in the Newest remake of Alien vs Predator) – Rochelle
(guy who played Blades mentor in the trilogy) – Bill
billy bob thorton- Francis
Matt Morgan – The Tank
Angelina Jolie- the Witch
(the guy who smokes ALOT in xfiles) – The smoker
Chris evans- the hunter
berne troyer- the jockey
jack black – the boomer
Mary kate or Ashley Olson – the spitter
Vin Disel – The Charger
Bada bing bada boom. There ya go....The joke cast for Left 4 dead the Movie........... HA!!!! Hope it made some gamers like me laugh.
For me, some of the interviews were just boring... the continuity was not there for me, but to each our own.
So am I the only one that thinks avaitor sunglasses look absurd on anyone not actually a professional pilot? (actually, they look pretty damn silly on pilots too!)
To me, the 3 best Zombie Stories are Romero's Dawn of the Dead, Brook's World War Z, and Robert Kirkmans The Walking Dead comic, which is probably the best one (and is going to be a TV series on AMC in October). I liked Day by Day Armegeddon, but I don't think it was the same quality as WWZ. Not sure who the "leading character" Pitt would play is, as WWZ really didn't have a lead. Maybe Tom Werango (SP?), as he talks to the interviewer 2 or 3 times. Can't wait to see the Battle of Yonkers on film!
I'm going to bet the movie will have nearly nothing to do with the book except for character names and Zombies.
they wont film it as seperate stories. it'll be Pitt killing zombies. so it wont be any different than other movies.
I hope it isn't one of those movies where the zombies can run fast. That just isn't right. Zombies are supposed to lumber around slowly.
I've had the book since it came out and I still haven't read it. I just don't read books. Don't have the time to sit there.
Maybe you'd have more time to read if you didn't waste your time posting pointless comments that nobody cares about on celebrity blogs.
Day by Day Armageddon – J.L. Bourne
Makes World War Z look like the crap!
Day by Day Armageddon = Junk. Don't waste your money. World War Z is lightyears better than that high school English project.
Brad Pitt's playing a Republican?!
Shame about Mark Forster being the director, he ruined Quantum with his shaky camera, nausea inducing close up fights and crap editing. Half the movie was incoherent and jumbled. In my opinion this guy is the worst director in Hollywood. They could do better with just about anyone. Hopefully they smarten up before shooting begins.
Take that back, you don't want M. Night anywhere near this.
I've read this book so many times, the hard cover is falling apart! Hopefully, Brad Pitt's team will produce a great film.
Same. Mine copy has been involuntarily split into two sections from the sea and the pool, and i'm missing one of the pages from the castle account!
Actually, Brad has become pretty much a zombie lately and has let his looks go in the same direction, so it is perfect casting. I see him as a rotting piece of flesh anyway. Sorry Pitt fans!
you talking about the same guy as the one in the picture right there? hope you realize that picture is from like 2 days ago
That hair dye job looks about two days fresh, too! Nice, Brad!
i thought the book was good... at first. it's most certainly different, but it kinda drug on. it's kinda like.. china fought the zombies this way, australia this way, canada did this.. but i do think in movie form it won't be as likely to lose interest so quickly. i just wonder... there is no lead role.. unless he is the interviewer.. which would defeat the purpose of having a good actor like brad pitt.
Actually, not that great of a book. Boring. The movie Zombieland was much better than World War Z.
Aww, it is so cute when the trolls come out to play!
Great book, lends itself to short features like Creepshow tied together by the reports and interviews. Another great translation to film would be Day by Day Armageddon by JL Bourne. Let the end of the world begin and the dead rise!!
The only book I ever read more than once (3 times, actually). Its a amazing look at what would happen to humanity after a devasting threat to its existence, be it zombies or really anything else. I'm afraid that the movie won't be able to do it justice, so I hope and pray!
Agreed – my favourite book of all time. Brooks makes it seem like such a real prospect!
Brad looks like quite the Hollywood icon here. What kind of aviators are those? Does anybody know?
Who knows what kind of Aviators those are, but check out his hair. Excellent dye job, Brad. With that solid gray beard he grows, you know his head hair matches. I wonder what all these middle-aged stars (technically, over 40) would look like if they didn't dye their hair... more like the rest of us mere mortals?
Great book, really looking forward to the movie. With Pitt attached, as well as being part of his company, that should get plenty of financial backing to really make the set pieces from the book happen.
the book is pretty good, so im looking forward to the movie,
Zombie movies scare the living crap out of me.
They scare the crap out of me too, but I'll check this out. Always wanted to see Brad in a zombie flick. Zombie movies give me bad dreams, but I still keep watching them. Oh well !
....Zombie movies/books have never much varied from the same OLD theme...except for The Zhombie Connection book series. Totally different take with immortals, multiple selves in multiple time lines and planets. Very different-not the stupid gore/slash crap. A third book I hear is in the writing stage-with all three being considered for film. I can't wait!. After checking out the web site, http://www.zhombie.com, I can see somebody is thinking way ahead!! koooooool
Unbelievable to read this see Zhombie Connection mentioned. A friend of mine let me borrow her's last night and I could barely put it down to go to bed......what a cool story and not the standard "they are coming to eat us" nonsense. For sure will make an incredible movie....can't wait either. My friend just bought the 2nd book online from the website today. I'm ordering my copy right now...hope they still have some in stock! As for Brad....not sure he'd make a good Soul Jumper.
HEY... N/T/4evr & Duch...the first book is called, 'The Zhombie Conspiracy' ...the second book is 'The Zhombie Connection' What..are you now zhombies and have lost your memory of the past.....??? ha-ha FYI... I've read them both...OH YEAH this is B I G T I M E different! and I liked it!! Also on the website for Zhombie Conspiracy, there is a picture of somebody called 'Soul Jumper' I have no clue who that actually is but O M G!!! He really LOOKS like HE could make zhombies all day long!!
Wow-can not wait to see this!
Here's my vote for Brad's sidekick for World War Z:http://www.imdb.com/name/nm3378270/
-amazing actor
