Roman Polanski 'happy to be free'Days after he was released from house arrest, filmmaker Roman Polanski made his first public appearance at Saturday's Montreux jazz festival in Switzerland. The 76-year-old, who was set free July 12, showed up to support his wife, French actress and singer Emmanuelle Seigner, who performed at the Lake Geneva event. Last September, the "Rosemary's Baby" director was arrested in Zurich on the basis of a U.S. extradition request stemming from a 32-year-old sex charge. In 1978, Polanski fled America after pleading guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl in Los Angeles. He was freed last Monday after Swiss authorities declared that the U.S. had failed to provide records of a January hearing that would have shown Polanski had already served his sentence. "I'm not sure what I will do hereafter," Polanski told Swiss station TSR on Saturday. "For the moment I'm happy to be free."

Tiny exits BET's 'Tiny & Toya'There will be a slight change when the hit BET show “Tiny & Toya” returns next season – namely, no more Tiny. The later half of the duo, Antonia "Toya" Carter, has confirmed in recent interviews that the show as it was will not be returning. The series followed the lives of Carter, ex-wife of superstar rapper Lil’ Wayne, and Tameka "Tiny" Cottle, the fiancée of rapper T.I. Instead, Carter said she'll be featured in a spin-off titled "Toya's Family Affair," which will focus on her life, her daughter with Lil' Wayne and her relationships, though Cottle will make guest appearances.

Trouble's brewing on 'True Blood'Editor’s Note: This post contains spoilers for the Sunday, July 18, episode of HBO’s “True Blood.” Love was in the air and trouble was on the horizon on “True Blood” last night, leaving us with plenty to discuss. We started off with Tara bound to a chair in Russell’s dining room with Russell’s fastidious consort Talbot complaining about how she doesn’t match the décor. (As if she didn't already have enough to worry about.) Poor Tara! Things really aren’t going too well for her, are they? I feel like “Poor Tara” is going to be my mantra this season; I might even get a tattoo. There was a glimmer of hope when Bill, Lorena and Russell returned from their bloody night out, but despite Tara’s pleas, Bill refused to help her.

Everyone's still talking about 'Inception'Moviegoers have clearly been starved for thought-provoking cinema: The opening-weekend chatter for “Inception” has been nonstop as amateur critics and film fans analyze Christopher Nolan’s work to the “nth” degree. The movie, starring Leonardo DiCaprio as a thief who extracts ideas from dreams and is challenged to implant thoughts rather than take them, is still sitting high in Twitter’s trending topics as viewers rave about it being one of the best they’ve seen in quite a while.

VH1's 'Celebrity Rehab' includes Jeremy London, Rachel UchitelOutrageous original supermodel Janice Dickinson, alleged Tiger Woods mistress Rachel Uchitel and troubled "Party of Five" actor Jeremy London are among the new slew of stars hoping to get clean on VH1's "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew." Now in its fourth season, the show - which airs later this year - follows famous faces as they are guided through a 21-day detox program with the help of addiction specialist Dr. Drew Pinsky. London, 37, has been very vocal about his battle with substance abuse, and made headlines last month when he claimed he had been kidnapped and forced to take drugs. Dickinson, 55, will reportedly address her problems with alcohol, while the nature of party promoter/nightclub hostess Uchitel's addiction was not known at press time.

Paris Hilton: I wasn't arrested for potParis Hilton likely wondered what everyone else was smoking after reports surfaced Saturday that she was detained on the French island of Corsica after authorities found pot in her purse. According to the Corse-Matin newspaper, the heiress was making her way to Sardinia, Italy, but was stopped at Figari airport shortly after arriving. Hilton, 29, was released without charge. Later that day, she tweeted, "Just to put an end to these rumors. The stories saying I have been arrested are completely false! I am having the best vacation of my life! What an amazing summer! I feel so blessed and grateful for everything. I Love Life!! 🙂 Now let's move on and everyone focus and enjoy their own summer time!" |
