Picture this: Taylor Lautner as Wolverine?“Twilight” heartthrob Taylor Lautner makes a fine wolf, but could he play a Wolverine? The upcoming “X-Men: First Class” chronicles the teen years of many of the Marvel Comics team’s most popular heroes, and while Hugh Jackman believes 18-year-old Lautner could be a good choice to portray a younger version of his razor-sharp character, he does have some concerns. “My only question is, can he grow mutton chops?” 41-year-old Jackman joked to E! Online about the smooth-skinned actor, who has not been cast in the movie. But perhaps recalling the "Twilight" franchise's box office records led to Jackman reconsidering his position. “Actually, I think people would probably prefer him as a hairless Wolverine than a rather hairy-chested version,” the Aussie actor said. “Certainly about a billion young girls would!” |

I'm so confused, so wolverine will be in x-men first class? all i want is for there to be wolverine action. if it was hugh jackman that would be even better.
Kid can't play me. He can't even grow facial hair. Logan has spoken. Conversation over.
NO. WAY. The day "Taylor" becomes Wolverine is the day that X-"MEN" becomes a daytime soap opera. Stop the malarkey.
liam hemsworth should be wolverine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and props to whoever would rather see hugh jackman in this role again
please, just because he's the flavor of the month, all of a sudden he'd be a good choice? give me a break. he's not even a good actor.
let them do it as a Disney 2 hour in between Hanna and some other teenie-bob waste of air wave. Just goes to show sheer lack of creativity.
He's not gay? Oh. I totally thought he was. I mean, I just assumed. Wait...seriously? He's not out? Damn.
UH NO!!!!!
Wolvie is over 100 years old. It couldn't be done as a modern piece. It would have to be done a few years after he and Victor left home. If they're talking about inserting Wolvie in First Class....It won't work unless Hugh Jackman does it because he would still look the same then. Remember Wolverine X: Men Origins is 15 years before the XMEN, XMEN2 and X3 movies.
Just a clarification or two... the Civil War was 1860-1865, so presumably Wolverine was born in the first half of the 1800's (I guess how early depending on exactly how slowly he ages), not the 2nd half, if he was an adult in the Civil War. And Taylor is relatively hairless because he's Native American, not only because he's young....and his eyes reflect his heritage, not Down's Syndrome.
And while I agree he's hot, having just seen Eclipse, I also agree it would make absolutely no sense to have him play a teen Wolverine, unless the movie were set before everyone else was born. Surely even a movie company isn't that dumb....?
absolutely not. Wolverine cannot be played by a kid with down syndrome.
When is a news article not a news article? When it's this kind of garbage. Seriously. This is beyond lame.
Oh No. If they cast Lautner in the movie, it'll be one of the only times I don't go see a comic book/superhero related movie.
They should get someone who actually has talent for any of the positions. Don't cast him just because he'll make you loads of movies. He'll just ruin the quality of the character.
Wolverine was never part of the first class of x men in the comics, therefore he should not be in the movie. They would kill the movie, franchise and fan base if they do something like that
The only thing that would qualify as a worse idea would be if someone decided to cast Paris Hilton as Storm.
What, are they insane? First of all the whole sustained adulthood from the previous Origins movie. Adult since the civil war, hello!
But more so, Lautner looks nothing like Jackson except the dark hair. The complexion is all wrong. Furthermore, he looks too much like a pretty boy. And who thinks he looks hot anyway?! Lautner looks like he's 12.
Taylor and Ryan Shekler are the hotttest guys in Hollywood. woohoo.
Rrrrrrrrgh wolf wolf.
Wait... what.... Wolverine was not in First class was he??? That is cyclopes, beast, iceman, angel, and jean gray...wolverine did not come til later
He is so good to look at.. any more pictures????
Re: Picture this: Taylor Lautner as Wolverine?
Picture this Hollywood: Empty seats.
STICK WITH JACKMAN!!!!
He could play Havok, Cyclop's brother, but doesn't look enough like Hugh Jackman to pull off playing a fully grown wolverine who wasn't even part of the X-Men's first class anyway. Of course Angel was part of the first class and he's introduced in the later movies as a youth, so timeline is already skewed
Worst idea EVER
Hes so hot, and surprisingly not a bad actor i think he would be great for this movie. Especially if he takes his shirt off at least twice:) ahaha im kidding but no seriously hes hot lol.But he doesnt realy look like Hugh Jackman.I hope if he does play his younger version he doesnt mess up the movie.Ive loved x-men since i was little and it would suck if the movies started getting bad:(
Well, you're certainly nothing like Myy Mom. She doesn't fantasize over a barely out of childhood punk with zero acting talent and squeal like a 13 yr old girl over every little story online about him. Then again, maybe you and the other Twit-Moms posting on this story are just sad about your lose of youth and look at your daughter's with envy? Just saying.
That doesn't make any sense. Wolverine was a teenager in the 1850s. He was never really a student at Xavier's school.
Maybe he will play Thunderbird? And whoever suggested Daken, that would be another possible role for Lautner if they want to find a way to put him in this movie. If they make him Wolverine that will not only destroy the established history from the other movies, but it will also put all of the comic fans off this movie in a big way.
if hugh jackman says he thinks taylor is a good choice then, i'm going to agree with him. i love jackman as wolverine, he did a great job in X-men. he would have a good idea about who would have what it takes to play young wolverine.
NO!
Ugh, i think he might do a good job, his acting has gotten better with in the twilight movies.. I think he will do a good job! go team Jacob!
Good, God. I am so hoping you are a 13yr old girl who stumbled on this thread because you Google Lautner every 4-6 hrs. If you are older than 13....grow up and cut down on the creepy-cat-lady behavior.
Wolverine was a friggin adult during the Civil War, according to the movie. Let us pray that this technicality keeps this no-talent washboard ab-having (and frankly freakish looking facial features – are you guys kidding me? – he looks like a special-needs student) one-hit wonder from this movie.
Please God No.
I scared my 3 year old yelling "NO!" so loudly. Seriously. Wolverine is supposed to be a big hairy guy! Find someone who can act, although following Hugh Jackman's performances should be intimidating to any young actor.
How about they cast someone who can actually act...
WHY DO ACTORS (males) wear the dumbest looking clothes? Like Taylor's suit.
there is nothing wrong with his suit. you just have a different taste in clothing. . . besides take a look at all the horrilbe clothing the female actors are wearing now. thats way worse than his suit.
Disney strikes again!
This is getting absolutely ridiculous...
NO NO NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wolverine has been an ADULT since at least 1850....If they are going to have ANY continuity at all, get Jackman to do it. NO TEENAGE WEREWOLVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
wolverine was born in the late 1800s. which makes the premise for this movie crap. who wants to see a plantation owners son running around.
Wait. X-Men first class is a story about how Professor X and Magneto become enemies. maybe 20 years prior to the original. My question is didn't X-Men origins-Wolverine imply that wolverine is well over 100 years old? thats he's had the same body (Hugh Jackman) for decades? So shouldn't Wolverine since its 20 years in the past be played by Hugh Jackman? Continuity people! Thats all I ask for
thank you.. having wolverine as a teen make no sense.. THIS IS ONE MOVIE I WILL NOT PAY EVEN PAY FREE SEE..
If they try to do a movie with Wolverine as a teenager who will they get to play Abraham Lincoln? I'm sorry but Wolverine shouldn't be in X-men: First Class. Cyclops, Marvel Girl, Beast, Iceman and Angel are the only characters that should be. Any other attempt to buff up the cast will only hurt the movie. And Taylor? Really? LOL that would be hilarious if they weren't serious. Add Taylor to the cast and the franchise will lose a die hard X-men fan. Me Make it right or don't make it at all.
Lautner would make a horrible Wolverine in every way shape and form. Having any "young wolverine" would be horrible for the film.
he would be a dead ringer for a music-bio-pic about george michael...not that it would be a wise career move...but he looks like him already
I think he could pass as Matt Damon's little brother in a Bourne movie and show his martial arts skills.
What's so hot about taylor? I don't understand
he's growin up nicely....thats a shame
unless it's "Brokeback Mutant", elsewise I don't see the point of this A&F guy in the movie, won't see it in the theater, perhaps will watch it on dvd if there's nothing else around.
Yeah while they are at it cast....Megan Fox....Robert Pattinson...the Kardashians....Lindsey Lohan....and Kristen Stewart.....basically make it twilight 5 with some other people who cannot for some reason not be talked about and have zero talent.
I agree with Charlotte, Taykor is perfection and way too good for crappy X Men movies which are a disaster at the box office.
You are joking? I can´t tell but if not then...loooool. How is almost 400 mil. dollars worldwide a disaster?
Seriously as a man and a comic book fan that would be the dumbest possible thing since X-MEN Origins: Wolverine....Lautner really doesn't have the look and especially after being the Twilight poster girl for so long the franchise will just lose credibility and become a girl thing. Furthermore Marvel can't afford to make another sucky xmen movie.
As many have pointed out, Wolverine should not be in "First Class" as he was an adult by that time. Maybe he'll still teach "art".
Lautner would be a poor choice in any event.
Taylor Lautner is 100% delicious. There's nothing more to say.
Doesn't matter. They screwed the pooch on this one a long time ago with the ages of Charles and Magnus looking like they are only about 10 years older than the "students." Lautner would just the cherry on this smack-in-the-face from Marvel. Another good reason why I don't support their X-Men/Wolverine-gasm in all of their comics.
From a real Wolverine fan....If they do this they will loose their base....and you know what happens when you loose your base. Seriously.
Lose...not loose......geezus..... The dog is loose. Don't lose your keys. How hard is that????
I could see him as Daken but not as Wolverine. Taylor Lautner is too girly.
It wouldn't make any sense to have wolverine a part of this new movie. Wolverine's first encouter with any of the x-men was the wolverine movie, then later with x-men one. Unless they are rebooting the franchise again.
Except Wolverine doesn't age so you could just use Hugh Jackman. This article is almost as retarded as the fact that i'm responding to it
I feel your pain dude....
Taylor Lautner – stealing the hearts of teenage girls and desperate housewives across the globe... Whoopee.
TAYLOR CANT ACT-HES TERRIBLE-JUST A NICE BODY
AFTER TWILIGHT, TEH CAREER IS OVER-SORRY GIRLS!
In my opinion Taylor Lautner is a good actor. Im not sure about him playing Wolverine, but he does have the whole package. After the Twilight Saga: He will go far.
Taylor needs to ouit being an actor. He is terrible.
This makes absolutely no sense, since Wolverine is around 200 years older than the rest of the X-men and was not a teenager when they were.
Marvel studios doesn't care that this would make absolutely no sense with what is known of the Wolverine character. They only care that they could get teenage girls into the theatres.
Marvel Studios doesn't produce the X-Men/Wolverine films, Twentieth Century Fox does. Marvel licensed the X-Men rights to them before they even created Marvel Studios. Please do your homework before commenting.
Or, they could cast someone that actually looks the part... seriously, why do we have to shove the fad actor of the day into everything?
awesome
Wolverine was born in the 1800s (his healing factor makes him age slower), and is the full grown man Jackman played by the time Xavier founds his academy. So this is retarded.
I would like to see Hugh Jackman in a remake of the Beastmaster which starred Marc Singer. Now Mr. Singer is still a hottie and in shape...But I feel Jackman would do it justice.
How could it work? Wolverine ages at an extremely slow rate and already has been shown as an adult during the Civil War. It would make no sense to have a young Wolverine in X-Men:First Class
I was gonna write this, but you beat me to it...don't know why more people (Including Hollywood) have thought about it..... I have a feeling they're going to screw the fans again for the sake of catering to teenage girls.
Thanks. I was thinking the same thing. Jackman should still be Wolverine if meeting this generation of the team. What next, a young Bruce Wayne story with Justin Bieber as young Ra's Al Ghul. Too much grabbing to the Disney Channel consumer.
I was never thrilled with Jackman as Wolverine. He did a fine job as an actor, but he did not match Wolverine n the height department. The original Wolverine was very short often referred to as the "diminutive Canadian" or just "the runt". Taylor Lautner would make a good choice for a young Nightcrawler but working that character back into the story would be tough.
Maybe he can play the Hulk.....
He's hot:) and he'd be a decent wolverine, he could pull that off
No....no he wouldn't...have you seen his acting? I mean Hugh Jackman is an ACTOR...Laughtner is like SharkBoy......and i also would probably guess you've never read a comic.
Funny, I always figured he'd make a better Jean Grey.
ooo... hugh jackman... what a hottie
All I have to say about Taylor Lautner is.... UMMMMMM YUM YUM.
People...if you read the article, IT WAS JUST AN IDEA!!!!!!
Nothing has been signed...nothing has been finalized. For all of those that are die-hard Wolverine fans...CALM DOWN!!!!
Regardless of what ANYONE thinks, they will choose who they think will play the role the best. Hugh has the role locked to him for basically eternity...whi they choose for someone younger is still up in the air. Whomever it may be may mnot be YOUR choice, but we don;t really matter at this point in the game...
