Lindsay Lohan wears profane manicure in courtIf you somehow aren’t aware of what message a middle finger is meant to convey, Lindsay Lohan will spell it out for you. Literally. Although Lohan told Judge Marsha Revel that she did respect the court during her hearing on Tuesday, celebrity blog WWTDD caught the 24-year-old actress wearing a profane manicure, with “[expletive] u” was written on top of the nail polish on her middle finger. (Although it's quite a fashion statement, we removed the offensive language in the photo above.) Perhaps she forgot that the phrase was visible – the 90-day jail sentence that was handed down yesterday clearly threw Lohan for a loop – because she didn’t seem intent on hiding it. Update 2:55 p.m. ET: The court, however, has no comment.
The reason being, said Allan Parachini, spokesman for the Los Angeles Superior Court, is because the expletive-laden manicure "doesn't warrant a reaction." Yes, Judge Revel has seen the images, but the "hearing is over" and Lohan's already been sentenced, Parachini told CNN. The photo, he added, "clearly speaks for itself." Was it a not-entirely-subtle message to the judge or just a careless beauty faux pas? We'll likely never know, but we're willing to bet that by the time she begins serving her jail sentence, Lohan will have located a bottle of nail polish remover.

No celeb should ever be driving drunk. They can afford to hire a driver. (And I'm not saying the rest of us can't afford a driver, I'm just saying that they have no excuse.) Remember that funny movie with Dudley Moore, where he fell out of the car because he was so drunk. Everyone laughed. Why? Because he wasn't driving!
It really doesn't matter who we're talking about. In this case it happens to be Ms. Lohan. She was given options and she chose the option sh wanted. The old adage, "Be careful what you wish for, it might just come true" applies here. She could have gone to the court odrdered sessions and did waht the court ordered in a conciensious manner. She didn't so maybe, her next big thrill is seeing what jail is like. I suspect any of us who pulled such a stunt would have receieved more than 90 day. Hopefully the young lady will use the time to get past the immature BS in her life and get right with herself.
Lindsay's mother is the worst type of "star mom". It's a case of the tail wagging the dog. Lindsay has been making so much money since she was young, that the mom doesn't "put on the brakes". Lindsay's mom has been living off of that money and doesn't act like a mother, just another posse suck-up, basking in the glow of the "star". So, rather than acting like a real mother, by giving good solid advice and using wise judgement, she is just another adoring groupie. No wonder these child stars often end up in such a mess.

It doesn't matter who the f/u was for regardless it was just simply rude. How many rehabs and threats does it take to sink in. Really, where were her parents all along, oh yea, thats right on their way to the bank. They should be in jail right along with her. I do feel bad for her because she didnt have proper guidance. The studios should have some kind of class to teach these kids the pitfalls of being famous and how to handle all of it.
Wow, this girl has some problems. If she would have just complied in the first place, it would be done with, and her AA meetings would ahve been her sentence. But since she defied the courts judgment, she now gets a harsher judgement, and its well deserved. She was caught, twice, drinking and driving. That's literally ONE step away from murder. 90 days is not as bad as shes all whining about, but if she wanted to stay out of jail, she needed to comply in the first place, and she blew that. I don't feel sorry for her one bit. Some people think that because they are in a movie, they are invinicible, or above the law, and the law is DO NOT DRINK AND DRIVE!

Lindsay Lohan is no different than most peers her age – let's face it – society today wants to be handled with 'kid gloves' for everything they do wrong. Nothing is ever anyone's fault anymore. The only difference with her is that she is a celebrity which means she's in the public spotlight more so than Melanie the drunk Air Force girl who gets a DUI or Chad the Frat Boy doing keg stands and then having to answer for it. As for Lindsay, I don't wish any malice towards her, but hope she learns a valuable lesson from this experience that she applies to the rest of her life.

When they say prison it is not really prison its like day camp compared to a real prison. Maybe to fix these hasbeens they should do 90 days in a real prison so they could see what life might really be like for them.

Unfortunately, given her habitual lying, I doubt the 90 days in jail, and 90 days in rehab will do anything for her. She just doesn't *get it*. She's got a weak personality, and she's a follower at heart. Ten years from now, a lot of people won't even know who she is.
Lohan's little fiasco is a reminder that being stupid comes with a cost. To be stupid, according Merriam-Webster, is to be "slow of mind," "given to unintelligent decisions or acts," or "acting in an unintelligent or careless manner." Lohan managed a Trifecta of stupidity but so does anyone who fails to think through an action or respond to the obvious. The worst decisions are the ones where you know better but proceed as if you didn't. After all, what good is a brain if you're not willing to use it?

This isn't a court hearing. It's a photo op.
The message sent was clear that she feels that she is above anyone else because of who she thinks she is. She has a good lawyer from what I have heard but even the best lawyer would be hard pressed to represent someone like Lindsey Lohan. Is it possible her lawyer didn't see the message on the nail? She was sitting closer than anyone. Even if the lawyer didn't see the message, I would bet that they had at least one pre-hearing meeting and there was discussion about appearance. Lindsey probably did this because in her mind she is looking for any loohole to do things her way which is also a characteristic of people with addiction issues that don't want to face the reality. If you look back at other court appearances, Lindsey showed up not wearing the most court appropriate clothing on a couple of occassions. The words used, the placement of those words, and the size of the letters seems to indicate this was a way to express disrespect to authority which is consistant with her previous actions in and out of the court room.
If the Wilkboro Baptist Church can scream profanities at fallen soldiers funerals and be protected by the "Freedom of Speech", then why can't she make this expression to a Judge? Does a Judge somehow deserve more respect than a soldier that has given his/her life for our country? My personal thought is that they are both in the wrong and should pay the price for their behaviors.
It's just like anything else. When punishment outweighs the benefits, the behavior will change. She obviously has not reached that point yet. If she can"t (or won't) change, then the punishment should get progressively worse. I know that everyone is on the counseling bandwagon, and this should be part of it. The fact still remains that this must be a conscious choice on her behalf.

I have had friends who have gotten DUIs and the sentencing Ms Lohan got was what she deserved. I know in Tennessee you have to be convicted of a DUI 2 to get 30 days in jail. Most states 1st offense is 8 hours or till you sober up what ever happens last and a 30 days of suspended or restricted license plus a probation. The DUI laws are not as strict as you all might think. Any way I hope this is what it takes for her to clean up her act. Also I hope other young adults learn from this that no matter what eventually you will have to do the time.
She was sentenced to jail because she violated her probation, pure and simple. In some States, two DUIs in a period of 3 years equals one year in jail. But not doing something as simple as attending meetings and meeting the terms of her probation just shows that she deserves whatever she gets. One thing though, she might meet her next girlfriend while in prison. Celebrities usually get away with things because of money, power, influence. Just like Hilton in Africa, oh, my girlfriend had the marijuana. I had nothing to do with that. Wonder how Lohan and Hilton would like to be locked up in an African jail and not a US jail. Hilton is a no talent rich klutz. How people can feel any empathy for Lohan or Hilton is beyond me.

Wow, not one mention of how the parents created this monster, by letting her always have her way, as long as she continued to make movies.
For those that say they know people who have had many DUI and no jail or classes, that had to have been more than 10 years ago, or you live in a place that does not take DUI serious. For those that think she got too little, she is getting 180 days total, which is 6 months locked down with just 2 days in between the two 90 day stints. I will say that I have seen people reinstated ONCE back to probation, but never this many. Most people who violate get reinstated back to probation with more time added on. I have never seen a person reinstated twice. If you violate a second time, it is generally jail, as you have shown that you are not able to complete the terms. In FL a VOP is 1129 per violation, which is 11 months 29 days. You can get this down to about 8 months with good time, which is 2/3rds of your time. She is getting what she deserves no more, no less
It's about time something gets done about celebrities running wild and actually she lucked out if you ask me because out in kansas they don't play. Even being at a party or around people on probation is an automatic PV they think that they are gods and goddesses that deserved to be worshiped and nothing should happen just like nick hogan crippled a boy and he thought 6 mo was harsh well to all of you CELEBRITIES quit your pouting & crying because you guys have it made when it comes to breaking laws because that does not happen in the real world if all we got was a slap on the wrist the jails wouldn't be full. And all I have to say is if lindsey don't have to serve the full 90 days then she needs to spend the remainder of her sentence out in rehab plus the time she was already suppose to do in rehab.
I think that we have a weak justice system for allowing this type of behavioral to continue. After missing nine apppointment, anyone else would be thrown in jail. She must be a cat.

I was watching her in court and thought it looked odd the way she kept scribbling things on paper for her attorney.. So it seems she was also scribbling obscenities to the judge..I wonder if the judge had of backed down if Little miss Lohan would have bragged about her little middle finger note?

We will be reading obituaries instead of court reports on her unless the judge stands firm and makes her do the full time and a full rehab! She is clearly living in a drug/alcohol induced reality with no regard for consequences and an ovewhelming belief tha "it can't happen to me". The judge will NOT give her anymore time for the nail! Also, she will NOT serve 90 days as she will be let out early. Do you remember the 84 minutes she served before. This will be cut to less than 1/3. And yes, she does need help! I don't think her Dad is the one to get it for her and him and her mom are both nuts!!!

Even in court, we have the right to our freedom of expression(as far as I know)... and I'm sure Lindsay meant it. I just wished young people didn't have to learn by such hard knocks to who's the "boss" the way they sometimes do. This too shall pass...

She has the nerve to stand there and tell the judge that she respects the system, that she takes all this seriously, yet she has that crap on her fingernail. She thought she was so cute and clever. Guess who got the last laugh.
She already went to rehab, and obviously she didn't take that very seriously because that is why she was back in court. She violated the terms of her sentence by consuming alcohol. I'm 100% for rehabilitation of drug addicts, but when they don't take a helping hand when it's offered, there is very little choice but to jail that person before they hurt someone else. Rock bottom is where she needs to go and I hope that is in a jail cell, but for some people that is the grave.

Way to go to get some judicial sympathy. This is like my brother-in-law the attorney telling me about DUI folks in court wearing Budweiser T-shirts....Brilliant. Then there's the people with their cars covered in "legalize it" bumper stickers, surprised they are pulled over by the cops...
Alcoholism and drug abuse are illnesses and should be trested as such. I do not know if putting her in jail is the correct medicine. The 90 days rehab sounds more like what she needs.
She was scheduled to do rehab classes and didn't show up – so JAIL is the response to her disobedience. The rehab is another good thing – but WILL anything reach this woman? I don't have any hope.
Think about the reality of this. She will check in to jail and she will be out in a couple of weeks. She'll use these couple of weeks to recharge her batteries and then be up to full speed again when she gets out. She will change her ways. Not in the way you're thinking. She will leave this trailer trash America and go party in France, Denmark and wherever else she wants because she can. She is way above all you people and always will be. She will not kill herself or anyone else. There are more people in your PTA meetings that are more likely to kill someone while drunk driving than she is. Lindsay will have people drive her around in a car you will never even see up close no less own. Lindsay Lohan is a celebrity and should be treated differently. Deal with it. Anyone complaining is just plain jealous of her. While you people are living your pathetic lives commenting on news stories about people so far above you in life, Lindsay will be on a yacht in the French Riviera sipping champagne and not even aware of your existence.

This is so very very true...
Actually she will sit in an empty cell with the walls closing in being sneered at by people who will peep at her day and night with no privacy at all (the guards even get to watch you drool as you as you sleep, and see you wipe your butt as you use the toilet). She will be in isolation; a situation that she will hate because the moron needs attention so much she would endanger three other people to chase after someone who refused to take money to associate with this twit anymore. She better get used to being unimportant because at the rate her appearance is deteriorating due to the accelerated aging from the drugs and especially the booze she is not going to have a career for much longer; she already looks older than women in my family do at age 40. Look under her make-up and see. The guards and the other prisoners certainly will be looking at her and talking about it even if they don't say it to her face.
Quite frankly, even if she leaves the country to live elsewhere she can't get away from herself.... she's her own enemy!

As a person who lost three people in my life due to separate DWI accidents, I have zero sympathy for a Hollywood Pop Tart Spoiled Brat who acts if she is above the law. Had it been Jane Doe, that person would be spending a larger sentence and appropriately so.

That was directed at the court-she's already shown her contempt for the court process by not appearing on time, "stolen passport" issues, not going to court ordered meetings, etc. Written accounts talk about how she kept putting her hand up to her face..if you don't think the timing of that was when she was being yelled at by the judge you're crazy! I hope she's getting an ear full from her lawyer right now. I don't think she knew it would be seen, I think it was her own personal joke/protest against the process. This idiot is getting exactly what she deserves. Actually I would think the penalty would have been stiffer. I know someone that had a similar situation and the penalty was a lot worse. It's our hatred for these figures, and again their antics, that essentially bring them more and more fame and fortune. I vowed to ignore any article related to this lady from here on out. Impressions on these stories = ad revenue = more stories = her fame increasing = movie deals. If you guys are ready to stop complaining, please do the same.
OK...so she's sentenced. But look back at the big picture. If these nightclubs who cater to the "celebrity" lifestyle wouldn't have been serving her sorry self when she was a teenager, maybe she wouldn't be washed up at 24. Would someone please get her away from her parents ? I think they're adding to her problems. Mommy is constantly out and about partying with her precious baby, and Daddy's trying to suck out her soul by going public with anything and everything that he can in order to get his 15 minutes of fame. Take her parents out of the equation by slapping a restraining order on them. There should also be a permanent gag order on both parents so they can't go to the press with stuff about their daughter. That may help alleviate some of the stress I'm sure she's under, and ease the urge to keep doing stupid stuff. After that while she's in rehab, sit her down with Robert Downey Jr, so he can talk some sense into that thick skull of hers. I think he may be the one who could get through to her, because he's been there numerous times. He's one of the rare few who would be able to talk some sense into her, and be a good role model for sobriety. When she gets out, she should have like RDJ has on each set of his movies, which is a person known as a "minder". That person stays with the celebrity in between shots of the movie, and keeps them away from temptation. It worked for RDJ and look at him now. He's one of the brightest, hottest celebs in this world. He's blown past the star status he had back then and made himself an even better person. If she has the determination and drive that he does, she'll pull through this and get herself back on track.

I think she has had more chances than any druck driver deserves!!! I have lost a family member to a druck driver who had chance after chance to get help. She cried about helping children out in her personal defense before the sentancing... all the while knowing she had that crap on her finger to show she didn't give a crap about the system or anything else. DUI laws anywhere else have a mandatory 1 year sentance with no suspensions. That means 1 year, no getting out of it, and a revoked license. Yet someone who gets TWO DUIs, one while CHASING SOMEONE WITH A CAR gets 90 days in a cush, padded cell. They didn't even say the sentance was consecutive. She has 3 30 day sentances. She could do one month, get out and party, go back a year later, and so on until she is done. I am sick of my government punishing everyone else harshly and ruining peoples' lives with these same kinds of sentances, then when you are rich and famous, getting a pass because they don't want to ruin someones' career.
Re: Lindsay's demeanor. People have to try to understand that most of the reason why she is the way she is is because of the way her addiction is consuming her. She will not be right nor make proper decision making with herself or authority figures until she stays completely abstinent from all substances for a long time in order for her to see what she is doing to herself and to others. She will God willing take a look back after some significant amount of sobriety she will see in a clear mind what alcohol and drugs changed her way of looking at her life. If she stays sober she will have a safe and happier life. From someone who knows. I wish her the best. Addiction is not an easy disease to live with.,

90 days? She'll be out 27. Its just a routine anyway, it wont take her 7 or 8 days to figure it out, she'll be fine. Spoiled or not, I believe the judge acted biased. Spoiled and conceded has nothing to do with the facts or the harshness of this case. In a country of checks and balances, the only one's in play for judges, is other judges... I think the presiding judge acted like a "brat" also.
I don't think jail is for anyone. I think if they wanted to help her punishment is not the condition here. She has enough money to do whatever she wants and pleases for the rest of her life so I say a more theraputic approach on her drug/alcohol problem would be beneficial for her. The nail polish writing is a photo shop trick. She wouldn't have written that on her nails, in such a critical court case.

Also no one does their nails with glitter nail polish and then writes over that nail polish with a felt marker, I don't think that is even possible. She got the sentence for violating her conditions of probation that stemmed from two DUI's and possession of a controlled substance (cocaine). During one of the DUI offences she participted in a drunken drug fueled high speed chase with 3 people in her vehicle against their will to confont her assitant who just quit on her. (there is a case pending by the passengers of the vehicle for this instance). The girl who was being chased had her mother call 911 and all was recorded. The chase ended at the police station where LILO was arrested, booked and found in possestion of the cocaine. She denined she was the driver of the car and the coke in her pocket didn't belong to her. B.S. So, before you or anyone else get on a tirade about the cruel treatment she is receiving get your facts straight. She should have done prision time then and she needs to do the complete 90 day sentence but will probably only do 22 days. FYI.

It's probably the most blatant contempt of court offense I've ever seen. They've been saying she'll do less than a month due to jail over crowding. She'll be lucky right now if all she does is the 90 days. Odds are the judge will double her sentence. She wasn't sentenced to jail because the device went off. In fact, the judge wouldn't even let that evidence come in. She was sentenced for failing to attend weekly alcohol classes that were mandatory part of her probation...meaning technically, she should have gone to jail before when she pled guilty to committing the crimes, but the judge decided instead she could do alcohol classes. Then she just kept skipping the classes. She was very clearly told in open court that if she did not comply with the terms of probation, her probation could be revoked and she would have to do the time. She broke the law multiple times. She was given multiple chances to do her very lenient punishment. And until she was threatened just a few weeks ago with jail, she thumbed her nose at the court and decided not to comply. She deserves this and it may just save her life, and the lives of others whom she might hurt in her next DUI crash.
She didn't get sentenced for the alert. In fact, the judge upheld an agreement made with the attorneys to NOT allow the device's alert to be considered. The monitoring device was a term of her bond but not considered in whether or not she'd do time in jail. Her sentencing was determined due to her repeated non-compliance with the alcohol education courses that she was required to attend as part of her probation. (She reportedly missed nine.)
I believe the bracelet is designed to monitor the perspiration and the alcohol that burns off through the skin, and this was addressed by the judge. Also the presence of alcohol in the air does not measure the alcohol in the room, and it would have to be to a combustible level in there if it was to pick up trace readings from the room at the ankle level. This also was made clear that a spill on the bracelet would trigger a different alarm, so (admit it or not) she toasted a friend at the awards dinner ... no big deal...UNLESS you were ordered by a judge that you will lose your freedom if you take a drink while on this probation...TIME TO PAY THE PIPER! Contempt of Court and probation violations are within the Judge's authority, and for once, it was not starstruck and blinded by celebrity. At 24 years old, she has had all the coddling she is gonna get! Now she will get a new wardrobe to accentuate her bracelet bling... prison jumpsuit orange – hope it don't clash with those nails!

As I watched the video of the court scene, lots of comments and questions came to mind, and was surprised the judge didn't say very much. Why couldn't she have stated, at the very least, that she didn't believe half the stuff LL used for excuses as to why she skipped her appointments? Also, you think her lawyer would have told her to clean herself up (appearance) before appearing before a judge. That God-awful hair (ever heard of Root Touch-up?) and those hideous nails. This is all sad. I have a brother who has 6 or more driving under the influence and he has served very little time. To work the system, he uses other people names and put those new ticket in there name. He was eventualy caught, and seved again little time.

Addiction is not an excuse. Addiction CAUSES people to self-destruct, losing their morals and self-control along the way. It warps their sense of reality and leads them to not think (or care) about consequences. People with addictions MAKE excuses but addiction in itself is not an excuse. She deserves what she got. Jail time as a consequence for violating probation and rehab for her problem.

She needs to be put in jail with the rest of the trash, but instead she's going to find herself in a cushy solitary cell with all the amenities of a hotel. She's not going to be mixed in with the criminal population, even though she deserves to be there like the rest of them. If I, or anyone else, played games with the court like this, we would be thrown in prison without a third, fourth, or fifth chance.

Let me spell out for you why we are judging her:
DRUNK DRIVING
No one should get a free ride for that. Ever. I have seen someone killed right in front of me, hit by a drunk driver. This isn't about partying, this is about her inability to use any level of good judgement. As a celebrity, she sets an example for her fans, and by failing to go to her counseling sessions, she was setting an example of "I'm famous, so I can get away with this".
If her own father can be happy about the outcome in court yesterday, so can we.

The Judge sentenced her to 90 days in jail. Prior to that, the judge ordered a no-alcohol bracelet to be worn. She's hardly getting slaps on the wrist.

What a sad girl, apparently she'll do anything for shock value, her and her lesbian girlfriend, cocaine, drunk driving, showing her panties to the photogs, lying about why she wasn't able to go to the aa meetings, not doing community service and continuing to mock the courts. She honestly needs to be monitored much closer and maybe it won't take her crashing into and killing an innocent person while drunk or high until she gets put behind bars until she realizes that you really don't need to be out of it to enjoy your life. Well – I believe celebrities should be held to the same standards as the rest of us – but not to higher standards. I know of folks who have driven and been arrested several times for DUI with no jail time, and no dui schools required. I feel most people just want celebrities to be held to a higher standard becasue of th emoney they make.

Lindsey Lohan was relevant when she was 12...the entire second half of her life has been a complete waste of anyone's time who bothered paying attention to it. That said, her 90 day sentence will ultimately be about a week, tops, in LA's prison system. But she is always looking for a new girlfriend to replace Samantha, so now she has a chance.
