Behind the Scenes at 'Showbiz Tonight': Does Lohan's punishment fit the crime?

The "Showbiz Tonight" staff was teeming with burning questions in the morning meeting today after Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to a total of 90 days in jail, but here's the big one: Does she deserve 90 days in jail for what she did?

Some are saying Lindsay was treated unfairly, but a few of us at “Showbiz Tonight” think the judge was completely fair.  As producer Sid Lipsey put it, “This wasn’t about [Lohan's] SCRAM bracelet or her substance abuse issues, this is about her blowing off classes, going off to Cannes and everything else!”

Her crying game didn’t help, either,  “Showbiz Tonight” Executive Producer David Levine pointed out, since she never took responsibility for her actions.

So what do you think: Will jail set Lindsay straight? Was she sincere in her plea to the judge? And did the punishment fit the crime? Let us know the answer to that question in the "Showbiz Tonight" poll today. And if you’re still shaking your head (like we are) over how Judge Marsha Revel flattened Lohan's case right before her very eyes, sound off over on our Facebook page.

Speaking of judges, former “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul may have some reality show competition. Abdul recently signed on to be a judge on a new dance reality show called “Got To Dance,” and now “Idol” host Ryan Seacrest has announced he’s launching a reality dance show of his own - with Lady Gaga’s choreographer. Should Paula be concerned or can they both dance their way to reality success?

A lot of jaws in the morning meeting dropped when we heard Levi Johnston is apologizing to Sarah Palin. Levi told People that he wanted to publicly apologize to Sarah for his “youthful indiscretion."

We were all slightly baffled by Levi’s words, although Producer Jenny D’Attoma thinks the apology is a sign that he and Bristol are getting back together.

That would make perfect sense since Levi said that he and Bristol are “getting past” their differences. Could reconciliation between Bristol and Levi be on the horizon now that Levi has called a truce with Sarah? We'll give you our view on "Showbiz Tonight," airing live at 5 p.m. ET and also at 11 p.m. ET/PT on HLN.

The girl is a train wreck and she sells magazines, keeps over zealous reporters employed, lawyers hopping, and fans guessing what is real and what is BS. This is Hollywood people–nothing is as it seems. She does photo shoots for tons of $, is shopping her post jail for 2M, doing Linda Lovelace in a bio pict. and will likely rebound in a few years and be a good actress again. She's young and stupid–not an inclusive thing.

Lindsay needs more than just jail time at this point...
Don't get me wrong she deserves to be punished for acting so spoiled and ignoring her previous sentences, but she needs to get clean and get back to the actress we saw in The Parent Trap and Mean Girls...
Celebrity Rehab and Sober House anybody?

I'm glad she got the time as well but as one reader said, she still won't spend much time behind bars. Maybe she needs to hookup with Britney or Paris again. Or, maybe she could go thru the McDonalds drive thru like Vanessa Hudgens and Ashley Tisdale–you'll never guess what they ordered!

She needs to get "straight"–what did she expect ??? The so called "alcohol program" she was supposed to attend seemed very bogus. This too shall pass. She has to deal with it & I hope she will get sober. Judge Revel was fair & did her job. Nopw Lindsey has to do hers-be a sober woman & be happy. She can do it.

This is LA folks. You actually get 23 minutes for each day you are sentenced to serve. So Lindsey's 90 day sentence is really about 1.4 days. Even if the judge tacks on the extra 30 days for the "FU", Lindsey can still make her spa session or D-List event.

Now if you want someone who is really going to serve some hard time, check out what your psychopath and mine, Joran van der Sloot, is up to...it might surprise you.

It's about time that this 24 year old selfish, stupid dummy received a wake-up call. She should have gotten 180 days and then forced to go through rehab for dummy's and drugs and alcohol. She really needs to grow up.

Why does everyone think her message is for the judge? She knew the judge wouldn't see it. She knew the press would. Put 2 and 2 together here, people.

Lindsey Lohan was relevant when she was 12...the entire second half of her life has been a complete waste of anyone's time who bothered paying attention to it. That said, her 90 day sentence will ultimately be about a week, tops, in LA's prison system. But she is always looking for a new girlfriend to replace Samantha, so now she has a chance.

But forget Lindsey, the news of the day is LeBron James.

LeBron James announces that he will buy the Miami Heat, endorse the New York Knicks, marry two of the LA Clippers’ Spirit Dancers in a Utah ceremony in August, become Executive Vice President of Mining and Distribution for Polyus Gold (NJ Nets’ owner Mikhail Prokhorov’s gold empire) and play basketball part-time for the Cleveland Cavaliers.
