The 19-year-old mother played herself on last night’s episode of “Secret Life of the American Teenager.” Palin and the show’s main character, Amy, find themselves at a band camp for teen moms. "I am a fan of the show," Palin told ET. "I think it is realistic to show the consequences of teen pregnancy and to show it not only affects Amy, but her friends and her family." What a shame to read some of the vile and ludicrous statements from supposedly "ADULTS" attacking a child. Just because her mothers views do not match yours, or maybe they do, do any of you know her views? She is one of several thousand young girls who made a mistake, took responsabilty for it, and is trying to make a living for herself. As a Democrat myself, I have found that these personal attacks have got to stop. Fight the issues not someones child!
While I disagree with Sarah Palin's policies, I think that picking on her daughter, who made a mistake and was likely pressured to keep her child, is morally unjust. to use her as a way to hurt her mother is maniacal and cruel, especially since her mother won't see this, but chances are Bristol will. And Blah Blah, there ARE smart republicans, i know some. Most of the older generation of my family on my father's side, and formerly my uncle, are republicans, and they are perfectly smart. Just because the republicans who get attention are extremist and most likely crazy, you shouldn't pick on everyone else in the party.

The reason I find Bristol to be...unpalatable, for lack of a better word, is the fact that she can get pregnant and everyone is willing to bend over and kiss her behind, but if it were another young lady, she would be viewed with distaste and would suffer from a lot of finger wagging. It's a symbol of strength and bravery for Bristol, but shame and bad parenting for others?
I am amazed that she didn't QUIT half-way through the day of taping....

One thing I can agree with is that she's pretty enough. The woman who played Erica on All My Children never learned to act but she was the show. Hell, I use to watch just to see what the character would do next. To speak of being a mother, she's making money that will provide the necessities in life for her child.

In my opinion, my daughter could "act" much better than Bristol, but will never have the chance to try, not in this lifetime. Bristol got the part only because of whose daughter she is, nothing else, not because of any acting talent. I feel Palin and Bristol are chasing the media now, ever since Palin ran for Vice Pres. I didn't watch the show, and probably won't, but for those who did, was the line about Yo-Yo Ma delivered as a joke? As in, I play the French horn and I'm as good as he is (he plays cello)? If so, did it seem like she got the joke? Otherwise it doesn't make any sense.

I am not a Sarah Palin fan, but I don't think Bristol deserves all this bashing. She is not the first teen to get pregnant, and she will certainly not be the last. Bristol Palin made a mistake, unfortunately society seems to forget that the majority of us and even our children have done the same thing, just did not get caught and did not announce it to the world. I am a conservative CHRISTIAN republican and proud of it. But also understanding of our mistakes and the consquences of those mistakes. I do not agree with her mother as to putting her family up in front of the American people to keep her name out there. There are some things that are not anyone's business and this is one of them.

If they just get pregnant and famous at the same time, they can get ten to twenty thousand a pop for preaching abstinence to right wing whack jobs, and they'll get a paid gig on television. I hope Bristol succeeds in producing thousands of new unwed teenage mothers seeking fame and fortune.

Geez, people. Give the poor girl a break. She didn't ask for her mom to be a political nightmare. Her family may have money, but are clearly lacking in true family values. Perhaps I'm old-fashioned, but when I think of family values, I think of a close-knit family that confides in and takes care of one another and that means being there. I don't think of abortion rights, gay marriage, or any of the politically-charged issues the republicans have contorted into their definition of family values.
It was extremely unfortunate that she became pregnant, but it's also telling that she and her mom don't have an extremely close relationship as she brought her boyfriend and friend with her to tell her parents she was pregnant to begin with. She should be able to ride on the tails of her mom's fame (note I did not say success) and do a television show, talk show, motivational speech now-and-then to make money so she can support herself and her child. Life handed her a lemon of a mom, she made a bad choice or two as a teenager, and now she's trying to do what she thinks is right for herself and her child. Most people put in the same situation would do the same.
I can't stand Sarah Palin; she opposes everything I stand for as an educated woman and socially-minded liberal. I do, however, feel sorry for her children and grandchild and hope that things turn out well for them.
Indeed, I remember even in the beginning interviews she gave she pretty much said that abstinence didn't work and realistically people should teach protection. Which totally gave me respect for her. Unfortunately, she later did a 180 and when on an abstinence campaign, probably under pressure from her mom... but that's all I could personally fault her for, since like most we know next to nothing about her personal views, opinions, and outlooks.

Sorry, but I was left totally unimpressed. I couldn't help but think ANY girl off the street could have been just as plain as she was. For all the hype of her appearance on the show I thought it might be decent... I was wrong.
Must have caught the show-biz bug from her mom..... one of the great stand-up comedians of our time.
She won for "worst acting" on last night's episode, according to my husband and me...that's a pretty tough win, too, seeing how bad everyone else in that show acts!
Agreed. I know they give 'razzies' for worst acting in movies..is there an equivalent for worst acting by an ensemble on TV?

Anger?....why is there so much anger? What is happening in this country? Maybe the reason our country is failing is because of us...not politicians...not actor/actresses...but us. When no one takes accoutablity for what they do or say...we will fail. We overspent....and looked the other way. Shouldn't she be at home taking care of her kid instead of seeking out the limelight? At least Jamie Lynn Spears pretty much disappeared from public view after having a baby at 16, presumably so she could do what was best for her kid, not just what was best for her. I just don't think a teenage mom is the best advocate for abstinence... "do as I say, not as I do" has never worked before, why would it all of the sudden work now?
