Betty White in 'Breaking Dawn'?It isn’t just Facebook fans demanding a fix of Betty White. “Twilight” hunks Robert Pattinson and Kellan Lutz both want to see the 88-year-old living legend in their next movie - and they have the perfect role for her to sink her teeth into! “She can be the baby,” Pattinson, 24, told E! news, referring to Renesmee Cullen, the daughter who will be born to Edward and Bella in “Breaking Dawn.” Fellow bloodsucker Lutz, 25, completely agrees with his “Eclipse” co-star’s casting choice, adding, "I love Betty. I would love for them to do what they did in ‘Benjamin Button’ with her and she can be Renesmee. I would change some scenes up so we could have Jacob and Emmet going for her. I want to work with her. That would be so much fun." For her part, the author of the book series, Stephenie Meyer, says that even if the Golden Girl doesn’t play Renesmee, she deserves to spend her twilight years in “Breaking Dawn.” “Wouldn't it be amazing if she was like just sitting there with a big group of the Volturi?” Meyer, 36, told E!. “That would be amazing." |

Okay, first off i'd like to say that all of you who are arguing over this are just making a fool out of yourselves. Seriously if you don't like the movies or books why do you care? I'm sure most if not all are adults, let's try growing up please?. Who cares if the movies aren't that great, they bring entertainment to people. I think the books have even motivated young teens to read. I am only 16 and I started reading the first book of the saga about 4 years ago before the other books were even written. Clearly Pattinson and Lutz were kidding. Betty is a comical actress, and the Twilight saga dramatic films. So I think all you "adults" that are making such a big deal out of this need to really chill out, and act your age...not shoe size. What would people really think of you if they knew how immature you're acting?

I'm a woman, and frankly I think women have a twisted sense of romance these days...I mean, the whole thing is just crazy and manages to get disturbing with Jacob the werewolf who was in love with Bella, now falling in love (and imprinting?) with Bella and Edwards hybrid vampire daughter? Really? Imprinting just sounds perverse. And this is only weird to me? It's a Jerry Springer show! Hey..maybe he should make a cameo too?

ABC: are you trying to say that teen girls do not have the best taste? I would say that popularity has more to do with what is "cute" than it does any other conditions. If you changed the cast to people that are not generally considered attractive Twilight would be a flop. I would bet my big toe on that.

Stephanie Meyer is sitting there loving every time one of the Twilight haters gets on any sight and talks bad about the series....You may "hate" it, but why are you spending even a fraction of your time getting on here and posting about it? You are giving the series that much more momentum...Anything that is great will always have people that hate it, if everyone loved something it would get stale too quickly....Personnally, I hadn't seen or read any of the Twilight series until about 3 weeks ago, saw Twilight and enjoyed it so I ordered New Moom and it wasn't the best movie ever but if kept me interested enought.......And I'm 27 and a guy!! And I am engaged to a woman (whudda thunk?)

Love the good old USA. Love Harry Potter. Introduced to the series by college kids. Love Twilight. Introduced to the series by high school and college kids. I am technically classified as an "old f**t". But both films give me pleasure. Not just from the films but for experience in sharing them with others in the audience who enjoy them also. Good, shared entertainment. That is what this is all about. Not everyone has to like them. But don't be disparaging to those who do. As for Betty White, it is a joke. But wouldn't it be a hoot if she was with the Volturi. Bye now

As for the movies, all the media attention has been about the cast, and two in particular. It's never really been about the films themselves. When you step away from all the cast hoopla, the films are okay...not completely horrible, but not great either. All the attention on the cast members is what turned me off of Twilight. It all seems like a PR stunt on Summit's part and I find the way they play to the Twi-Hards fantasies really disgusting. It's like Summit has no faith in the films at all and are putting all of their PR eggs in one Robsten basket.
I guess we'll see after 2012 if the Twilight series actually has any staying power as classic or cult films. I doubt it, though.
I think it's funny how people bash Twilight, but the numbers speak for themselves. I honestly don't know how many books were in the Harry Potter series. I have 3 kids all 12 and under. Not one of them has shown any interest in Harry Potter after the first movie. All 3 of them (2 of the boys) are begging me to take them to Eclipse (as they have with Twilight and New Moon) interesting hah?
Did you know, (comparitively speaking) that Eclipse sold TWICE as many copies in it's first run than Prisoner of Azkaban? Eclipse sold over a million while PoA sold only 500,000. Doesn't make me love the Twilight series anymore just because of the numbers. It's not a bandwagon thing people. It's obviously good writing. You can't compare plots, characters and scenes because, if you think about it, they're both ridiculous and fiction. So what it really boils down to, is a fight between fans over which story/series is better. Sorry HP fans...but in numbers? Twilight wins.

I LOVED the Twilight series... when it was called Buffy the Vampire Slayer and ran for seven years with the far superior writing of Joss Whedon.

Betty White would be a horrible idea, not really seeing how it was a joke, but sure defend away. And as for guys not liking it, I can't speak for the rest but for me the strong dislike I have isn't about the plot, actors, or reading level, but exclusively the character of Bella. Any man would justifiably run in the other direction if encountering a girl with Bella's personality
After the whole 'SNL' thing, I really hope directors and producers want Betty White for roles because of her talent and legendary status, and not for the novelty of her.

I love to see comments about Twilight from men. I have seen countless comments on so many boards about how stupid Twilight is, how these are just fictional characters, etc (mostly from men). Well, men, if you don't like your girlfriends, wives, etc. being fans of the books, take a step back adn see what she sees. Both main heroes in these books love the heroine fiercely. Maybe your woman is lookng for someone to love her like that. Instead of hating fictional characters, maybe you should take a cue from them......

Just cast a regular baby, no need do CGI where you don't need CGI. The best place was the scene where Bella is looking in the mirror and sees her future elderly self. I forget which book that was in but that is the only place in the entire series where Betty White would have worked.

Could they have started the article with "Spoiler Alert!" I didn't read the books and had no idea about this baby that is in Breaking Dawn. Completely spoiled it for me! Darn you Mark Marino!!!
I could easily see Betty White making a cameo appearance in a comical sense. She could fit well with making an off-the-cuff comment related to the outside impressions of the Twilight series. Imagine her character (a vampire) attending the wedding. In the reception line, she could lean over to Bella and say, "Honey, your dress doesn't SPARKLE enough. You'd better do something about that."
Betty White could play Carmen, I think that would be something it gives her a bit of a tiny role in the movie.....I have loved so many movies over the years from the Halloween Series to the Friday the 13th Series Nightmare on Elm Street Series and Star Wars and Harry Potter....These Twilight movies and books are amazing they are not just for the young but also the young at heart.....Eclipse was my favourite out of all the books though....
Ok, this Betty White "love" fad has gone to far. Wow its so trendy to like Betty White, I think I'll jump on the hype train. White was good on The Golden Girls but lets stop pretending that she is any more than a recent internet fad today. I like the lady but it seems like everyone and their mom is following the trend of liking her because they are told to. She is a legend but she is being used as some sort of joke fad and it really annoys me because it seems more like people think its funny to like her rather than actually liking her.

Benjamin Button was born old and got younger, Renesmee was born a normal baby, she looked like a normal baby, but she grew up quickly until she reached a certain age. Are these guys kidding? I hope they don't...most of these actors have a certain flair and Betty White would bring a sort of comical air, and she's really well known, it doesn't fit.

Poeple are so quick to judge and to condemn the twilight series for being silly and ridiculous. Those same people would have a fit if you were to talk bad about harry potter or star wars. There is a reason there are many different genres of literature, people have different tastes. If its not your cup of tea, fine, read something else. There's no need for all the criticism.
I agree. Different strokes for different folks. That is what makes this country so great, and free. I've liked Star Wars, Harry Potter, Twilight, etc. It's just entertainment. All these angry posters should take their hostility and direct it to good use, like the oil spill, war, economy, etc.

They were obviously joking about Betty White being Renesme, but I think they might have been half serious about having her in the movie somewhere. This is the worst idea ever! Renesme is nothing like Benjamin Button. She ages rapidly, not in reverse! And in the book she is no more than 5, not 85. I love Betty White and the Twilight books which is why I would hate to see them both cheapened by random cameos.

I read the first book out of curiosity and thought the plot, writing, and dialogue were atrocious. I have not seen any of the movies and don't see the point. Betty White is a living legend, and this series is beneath her. However, she has a right to make money, so if the price is right . . . . So what's the deal? These two vampires have a baby that is an old lady? Actually, don't tell me. I don't care.

As an author myself, if the criteria for good writing is set at a lower bar for tween, teens and young adult females, then what are we saying about the literary exposure for this group of readers? The problem with today's publishing world and the cinematic industry for that matter is that profits and saleability trump creativity and artistic quality ... and we all lose.

I cant picture the idea of betty white as renesseme but i do see her as a wife in the volturi. I would absolutly love to see a little baby that looks like robert pattison and how Taylor would play a love scene with her.
