Guess we know who wears the pants in Jay-Z and Beyonce’s relationship.
Forbes Magazine released their 100 Most Powerful Celebrities list, and coming in at No. 2 is Beyonce Knowles, a good 13 spots ahead of her husband, Jay-Z. Ranked just on top of James “Avatar” Cameron, Beyonce pulled in a cool $87 million last year.
But even the woman who told men all over the world to “put a ring on it” couldn’t take the most powerful crown from media mogul Oprah Winfrey, who came in at No. 1.
Although Angelina Jolie was most powerful in 2009 (oh, how quickly they fall – Jolie is now barely in the top 20 at No. 18), Winfrey is back on top for 2010, having earned $315 million over the past year.
Joining her is Lady Gaga, who skyrocketed to No. 4, earning $62 million in the past 12 months. But this should really be no surprise since she’s everywhere, all the time (like, oh, on this blog), and one would hope she's earning a few dollars while being utterly ubiquitous.
Rounding out the top five is none other than Tiger Woods, who, when not accumulating tabloid covers, accumulates wealth to the tune of $105 million in the past year.
If you’re looking at those numbers and not quite understanding how Woods, with his substantial bank account, ended up below Beyonce with her slightly lower figure, remember that Forbes’ list isn’t all about the dollars – the rankings take into account both money and notoriety to estimate a star’s power.
Which isn't great news for 50 Cent or Will Smith, whose star power diminished within the past year, knocking them clean off Forbes' list. Those who are still hanging on include (somewhat surprisingly) Britney Spears, who came in at No. 6; U2 at No. 7; Sandra Bullock at No. 8; Johnny Depp at No. 9; and Madonna at No. 10.
