Behind the Scenes on 'Showbiz Tonight': The C. Brown debateNo one had a "case of the Mondays" at the "Showbiz Tonight" morning meeting today because EVERYONE was taking sides on Chris Brown’s performance and breakdown at the BET Awards. Brown, as you remember, attacked Rihanna last February before the Grammy Awards. He hasn’t really attended or performed at an awards show since, but last night’s tribute to Michael Jackson has everyone talking and taking sides today. The "Showbiz" team was solidly split this morning, with some saying Brown was genuine while others believe it was a publicity stunt. What do you think? Leave us a message on our the "Showbiz Tonight" Facebook wall today and you could see your comments on the show - the debate is going to be as hot as today’s high temperature in New York City!
We're also delving into Mel Gibson’s breakup. In a year he’s gone from divorcing his wife of nearly three decades to having a girlfriend and getting her pregnant, and now they are reportedly locked in a nasty battle. It all had us asking this morning – couldn’t ya see this coming? But there is one person who might have a bad case of the Mondays, and that's Tom Cruise. To find out why, tune in to "Showbiz Tonight" live at 5pm today. And remember, we’re still TV’s most provocative entertainment news show seven days a week at 11pm ET/PT! |

I think that Chris was sincere with his tears...always difficult to watch someone in pain especially a man. The song he was performing "Man in the mirror", I believe, spoke to him and made him (if not already) look at himself and question his own actions. I am not playing Devil's advocate but if Rihanna can forgive him then what is wrong with the rest of the world? Like MJ used to say..."It's all about love...L O V E"
I will reserve my opinion of Chris Brown's character and simply critique the performance. I give is 7.5/10. Anyone who's seen Michael knows that he was a perfectionist. The dance moves were sloppy in places. 1.5 turns instead of a full 2, low kicks, no tip toe stand, leaning moonwalk, lip syncing from beginning to end. I think that maybe wade robson or justin timberlake could've done this better or any background dancer from the "This is It" tour considering that Chris Brown did not actually sing at all! There were parts however that left me in awe. He is a great performer and did a decent job. The best?... no! The best we can expect from BET...probably! #thatisall
IDIOT HE IS NOT MICHAEL–WHAT DO YOU EXPECT HIM TO HAVE MICHAELS MOVES DOWN TO A SCIENCE? NOBODY ELSE COULDVE DONE MJ ANY JUSTICE BUT CB–NOBODY–SO YOU CAN SIDDOWN WITH THE REST OF THE DELUSIOINAL IDIOTS ON THIS POST....JESUS-WHAT KIND OF PARENTS DO YOU GUYS HAVE –CUZ OBVIOUSLY THEY'VE RAISED U TO BE IDIOTS..

Who cares? BTW when will we get CET (Chinese Entertainment Television) or IET or MET or WET? This discrimination needs to stop...
Really, you couldn't come up with a better one than that.
I thought his performance was amazing!! I broke down myself seeing it. I think that was real emotion.
Chris did a wonderful job, his performance made me appreciate Michael Jackson even more as the Ultimate entertainer! I think Chris cried because he felt the Lyrics of the song "Man in the Mirror" this young man made a terrible mistake, he has been forgiven but not forgotten! I hope Chris can just be left alone so that he can continue to give good music and entertainment!

I can't believe this is even up for debate. We are not here to be a man's judge and jury. I have no idea what is going on in the mind and heart of Chris Brown and neither does anyone else. People do wrong all the time and want forgiveness, but now he doesn't deserve it? That is stupid. Quit judging that man and worry about your own self.
IM CURIOUS TO KNOW HOW THIS JOURNALIST FEELS ABOUT DAVID HASLEHOFF, CHARLIE SHEEN, MEL GIBSON, SEAN PENN AND THE LIKE (ALL OF WHOM ARE WOMAN BEATERS) BUT WERE ABLE TO CONTINUE ON WITH THEIR CAREERS WITHOUT INTERFERENCE AND WAS GIVEN A PASS BY THE MEDIA. WHERE WAS THE OUTRAGE AND DISGUST WHEN THESE GUYS WERE DOING IT????!!!!! STOP BEING A HYPOCRITE!!!!CHRIS BROWN'S PERFORMANCE WAS PHENOMENAL AND EVERYTHING HE DID CAME STRAIGHT FROM THE HEART. I'M STILL WAITING FOR SEAN PENN AND THE GUYS MENTIONED ABOVE TO APOLOGIZE TO THEIR FANS!! *CRICKETS*
here is the Chris Brown BET break down analyzed with video

He know you dislike so get him room tried somethings good. One things I say on this he did'nt shame BET AWARD it the GRAMMY they may not wont him even..
just take a look at what he was doing...he's doing an AWSOME tribute to his #1 idol i mean when i heard the music to man in the mirror i had to pause. between the words of the song and what hes been through AND the fact that he just rocked the tribute. what human wouldnt be overwelmed with emotion? he lost me as a fan at first but i had to realize that he is a great artist and dancer and its not up to us to judge him who are we for that?
Please. He did a good job. but everyone is saying his tribute was the best. NOT TRUE.

I didn't get any goosebumps.
R u kidding me??? This is a straight publicity stunt. Chris Brown is just mad because he can't sell any albums and people were tired of him. Anyone doing a tribute to Michael Jackson is sure to be praised because of MJ's legacy. But Chris Brown is wack!. He will always be known for being abusive, not for his performance last night. It was a PR stunt to get people back on his side. Don't be surprised if a new album is set to drop soon!
He has asked forgiven, he should be forgiven. I know u haven;t never done wrong.
Man gets up on stage and crys after performimg a meaningful song that his idol wrote and you want to question his sincerity? Your just as idiotic as some of these delusional stans....GTFOH!!!! SHUT THE HELL UP!!!
An abuser will do anything to convince you they've changed.
@ N, I bet you not saying that when it comes to Mel Gibson and everyone else that were in this situation. Shut the hell up!!!
Shut the phuk up - @N-go worship the Devil since you have no forgivness in your heart..Idiot
Love him, he put on a great show. News people need to let it go. Get a life. Let him get his life back. Lets talk about the old men who don't know how to treat a lady! His name is Chris not Christ.
stephen hill, founder of the bet awards, said in an interview that chris brown really broke down and those tears werent staged as he was stilol crying backstage..why would some1 fake that, he was in the middle of performing a song ya know?
and we are praising his performance becuase mj is dead (we all miss him) and like my mom said last night, "chris brown is the closest thing alive we have to mike."
crying in desperation to get his career back? I think anybody would really truely cry for that.
