TBS: Give this man an Emmy!

In a recent ad campaign, Conan O’Brien’s new employer, TBS, is lobbying for O’Brien’s “Tonight Show” run to be considered for an Emmy. The awards ceremony, of course, will air on O'Brien's old stomping grounds, NBC.

To show their support, TBS has released two different ads. In one of them, TBS encourages Emmy voters to “Give this man one more thing to tweet about,” since O’Brien tweets regularly about anything and everything, including his freckles and the squirrel who lives in his backyard.

In another, the network commends O’Brien for “outstanding achievement in the use of SPF150.” Both are signed, “From your friends at TBS.” ("Very funny," TBS. Way to live up to a tagline.)

O'Brien has signed a contract to start his new program on the network in November. TBS, like CNN, is a unit of Time Warner.

To those commenting about Conans ratings. Come on. I loved Conan and watched when I could but SOME of us have a lot of drinking and partying to do between 9PM and 3AM ok? If his ratings were so bad how did he land a TV show on TBS? Riddle me that haters....

to all you Conan Supporters, you can blame Jay, NBC or whoever, the true of his talent and ability to draw viewers will be how good the ratings will be on his new show.

Conan didn't get a fair shake at NBC. His show then is much funnier than the Tonight Show now. And Conan is not sniveling. He just told it like it was.

The guy's a loser. Why does he deserve an Emmy?? He was lousy on Late, Late (lost out to Craig), and Dave cleaned his clock!! He's lucky he got all that money – and another gig. Too bad he pushed Lopez out of his spot!

Oh, for sure give him an emmy! I've been thinking for months that his boo-hooing, whining and sniveling for so long was even oscar worthy!

This comment is for OHIORON. Go back to your Buckeye Tree old man! Take GWB with you.
Conan's ratings may have been down but so where Leno's when started.
BTW – The whole economic crisis is GWB's fault because he, like you, is a MORON!

  7. Politics

Whenever there are stories about this issue, the comments inevitably become political. It's a study in divided America. Republicans tend to get uncomfortable and even angry when they don't "get" something. It's as if Harvard-grad Conan represents the "intellectual elite" that my parents are always complaining about. Leno is like Two and a Half Men or one of those other lame, wildly successful shows...bland, uninteresting, and dumb enough so Joe and Jane Six Pack don't have to think about anything.

Conan does not deserve an Emmy. He does not deserve his own show. He's quite boring to anyone with an IQ over 90.

I just saw his live show two days ago and it was the most I've ever laughed.
While watching Conan, I've laughed out loud. While watching Leno... well, he's never been funny enough to make me even giggle.

It's just a question of your humor. My 50+ parents love Leno. Their children, with sarcastic, awesome humor love Conan. It's really just a generation gap. Leno's monologue is simply: setup, punchline, and repeat. It gets old, like most of his favorite viewers.

    Rush Limbo –
Please enlighten us with your off shore drilling expertise by explaining exactly what else the rig could use besides the Blow out Preventor in order to keep this from happening. In addition how Bush had anything to do with a blow out preventor failing thousands of feet underwater a months after leaving office.

Let's see... hmm.... ooh yeah, that's right, the emergency shut off valves that are in place in european oil rigs. They cut off oil flow at three major points, two in the pipe line under the sea bed before the oil can gush out and one between the bed and the rig. That would have definately prevented the BP disaster and that was what the government would have mandated american oil companies to put into place, but GWB VETOED it b/c he and "Mr. Halliburton" Cheney were backed by the oil companies. They are a bunch of crooks. True Politicians!

I am extremely happy that Conan has found a new home at a network that wants him and is willing to promote him big time. With this campaign, TBS is showing that they are ready to take on the big boys of broadcast television, that their talent can match up to that of CBS, ABC, FOX and especially pathetic NBC. As for Conan's talent, well, I saw both Radio City shows and I cannot remember when I have enjoyed a performance more. It was wonderful. I loved it. Haters gotta hate, I suppose, but I believe this man is a comedic genius, as well as a nice guy who did not deserve the treatment he received by NBC. I will be watching his new show on TBS in November, and I will never, not ever, watch "The Tonight Show" again.

I agree, & I enjoy his type of comedy. He's unusual & doesn't hesitate to make fun of himself where as Leno seems annoyed if any laughs are at his expense. I just saw Conan at Mohegan Sun & it was a great show!! After the encore, he walked through the crowd shaking hands & even came up the steps to the lower tier above the floor seats to make contact. I stopped watching the Tonight Show after Conan's farewell & am looking forward to his new gig on TBS.

You must be a very shallow person. To judge some one on their appearance is pretty pathetic.
BTW when is your show on and on what network?

Guys, don't get mad at him for your lack of humor. He was hilarious on Late Night and he brought that to The Tonight Show. It was Jay Leno's fault ratings were so bad, because the other late night shows followed his. Plus, I was fortunate to see Conan doing his stand-up routine over a month ago and he was hilarious. I'll take Coco over a Leno, Letterman, Fallon, Fergueson or even Carson any time.

Conan's ratings were actually up among highly sought-after young demographics. I guess NBC would rather make their money selling viagra and hover-rounds to grandpa before he nods off. TBS is simply promoting their new show. If you don't like Conan, simply change the channel to Leno, or turn off the TV and play another round of Bingo.

Tony, a talk show host is a host to his guests and he talks about what his guests are doing. Conan is all about Conan! Just take a step back and watch Conan. He doesn't give a damn about the guests. He is working on his next laugh. That is why his ratings sucked on the Tonight Show.

OhioRon, Leno's comedy is much more selfish. Conan can be funny with other people, but Leno does old school stand up and can't seem to interact with others in a comedic way.

ChrisDG74, Just admit it..Conan is not funny! Quit blaming someone else for his bad ratings. You are probably one of those people that is still blaming GWB for the oil spill. Why can't people just accept the blame and go on.

People are blaming Bush, and rightfully so, for the BP oil spill because when he had the chance to have a bill passed to mandate that all oil companies put in place safetys that would have prevented the Gulf oil crisis from even happening, he chose to VETO the bill. So you can blame any other person, Democrat or Republican alike, but at the end of the day it was GWB and BP's faults.

Rush, Let's just pull an Obama and push the blame on everyone else. No use taking responsibility for anything. I am sure we can blame Calvin Coolidge for part of our economic troubles. You libs are classic. Kind of like when you were 3 years old. I didn't do it, Johnny did it! He broke it. blah blah blah

Actually, Conan isn't still blaming people. TBS made the decision to do these ads...just promo for his new show. No one is forcing you to watch. AND, he can blame other people for his ratings. The poor ratings for Leno's 10 o'clock show and subsequent poor ratings for the 11 o'clock local affiliates' news logistically lead to poor ratings for The Tonight Show. The numbers don't lie.

This guys Mom never taught him now to lose graciously. He couldn't keep a number 1 rated show number 1 – and so it's everybody elses fault. Suck it up big boy – you lost the tonight show – nobody took it away from you!!!

It disgusts me how NBC was able to screw so many things up and then blame Conan for it. He did nothing wrong. He's ready to move on, but I will never be.
BTW, anyone who thinks it's Conan's fault: I can't argue with you, because an argument is an intellectual process, while contradiction is just the automatic gainsaying of anything the other person says.

His rating were poor due to Jay Leno's even poorer ratings at 10pm, which also killed the ratings for all of NBC's affiliates' 11pm newscasts.
