Jaden Smith raps like his dad WillYoung Jaden Smith appears to have not only gotten the acting gene from his famous parents, but also the musical one. The son of superstars Will Smith and Jada Pinkett not only stars in the new “Karate Kid” remake, but he also jumps on one of the songs from the soundtrack. Smith busts a rhyme on the single “Never Say Never,” as a guest artist on the tune sung by teen sensation Justin Bieber. Smith appears in the music video, dancing a long side Bieber in the studio and spitting lyrics like “He’s older than me/and stronger than me/ And his arms a little bit longer than me/but he ain’t on a JB song with me.” His father is a Grammy Award winning rap artist and his mother has fronted the rock band Wicked Wisdom.

All the haters out there, wow! This kid is 11 years old trying to make it in showbiz. Obviously there is talent there. Why give this guy a hard time. Sure he has famous parents in which together would have produced child with Talent. While you guys are blaming his success on the money and fame of his parents, you forget that WIll Smith has an older son Trey. Who has decided not to go in the business. He attends college and not at all in the spot light, as he could be too. So give Jaden his props and lets see what he does with it. Instead of talking this kid down lets support him.
He looks cute in the movie and is probably doing a good job. But why call it the "Karate Kid'. In the preview they keep on saying kung fu this, kung fu that...he's doing kung fu not karate....so call it the "Kung Fu Kid".

And if Jaden got ther part because of his dad, I have just one question....WHO CARES??? If all those people who are bashing them were in the same situation and had the chance to help their kids do the sane? You would do it in a heartbeat. If you mean he is a terrible rapper because he doesn't curse in his songs and doesn't rap about cars, money, girls, drugs, and the like, then perhaps your definition is correct. He rapped about relevant things (in some of his songs at least), and maybe he didn't do as good as the artists before him (the others were a LOT better and more relevant to issues of the time), but he's a lot better than rappers these days. I truly hope you don't consider anyone from "Young Money" to be good, because that would lead me to question your taste in music. I don't care much for his music these days, but if I had to pick between artists his name would pop up somewhere.

I agree with you Christina. Of course the original Karate Kid was a great movie but before you folks knock poor Jaden,
see the movie first. He may have put his own spin on it. Its natural that he would pick up some interest in movies from his parents and someday, he could be famous on his own. But for now, let's see what the kid can do.

Whats wrong with a child wanting to be successful in life. You should only hope that your own kids will strive for more than what you accomplished in life.
Not to knock you on your comment, Christina, but Jaden pretty much had the inside track, seeing how his father is a very successful actor already established in Hollywood. Though many young people like Jaden find their opportunities through a stroke of luck, good connections, or hard work, you can't deny that Jaden probably wouldn't be as successful at his age if it wasn't for his dad. I'm also not trying to knock his natural abilities, either, but that's just a thought of mine.

I just don't think this movie is the right vehicle for his talent....remakes are rarely if ever better than the original....Jaden needs to break new ground not follow in someone else's footsteps....he had the talent for it.....

I remember when I used to say, Wil Smith cannot act. He has gotten better, but way better than Ice-T will ever be although I love some of Ice-T's songs. Watch what happens to this kid when he cant be bigger than the Fresh Prince. I loved that they used a real martial artist as his teacher. nobody realized that. Mr. Miogi was great but that was like making a movie about bruce lee and using that guy from True Blood to play him. Or, portraying an American Hero who was the 1st to respond to the 911 terror in his Marine Uniform, who saved many lives, making a movie about him. One thing though, the real Marine was Black Man and they used a White man to play him in the movies. Man Gene Hackman would have been great portraying malcom x. or we should have Denzel portray Former President Bush. he could play a great idiot.

I agree completely that the original karate kid did not need to be remade. It was a classic and had a lesson well above what the new one is teaching. When it is a classic leave it alone. Just as our parents say "If it's not broken, don't fix it"
Daniel Larusso was a wimp in the original karate kid, he didn't know how to throw a punch in part 3 his girlfriend left him for a football player, enough said!! haha, It was good put needs someone that can hold his own, i hope Jaden is that person and the script is better than the first one.
