'Glee's' thirst for doing good

It wasn’t hunger but rather thirst that turned young Hollywood out Tuesday night in Santa Monica, California.

Hosted by “90210” star AnnaLynne McCord, the Inaugural Thirst Project Gala, held at the beachside hotel Casa del Mar, recognized those who are shining a light on the world’s clean water crisis, including actor & singer Drake Bell. He was honored with the Pioneering Spirit Award for raising the profile of the group and directly contributing to providing clean water for five communities.

The Thirst Project was founded by Seth Maxwell, now the President and CEO of the non-profit. His enthusiasm and youth are engaging and inspirational. He looks like a boy, talks like a preacher and stirs those around him to care about one of the most fundamental needs on the planet: clean water.

Lourdes: like mother, like blogger

OMG! Madonna's daughter Lourdes Leon has a "totally cool" blog!

Writing under her nickname, Lola, the 13-year-old shares her music, fashion and even color faves on the site for Material Girl, the clothing collection she is launching with her mom and Macy's on August 3.

"I'm just going to use this blog entry to tell y'all a little bit about myself," she writes in a Valley Girl tone, adding that the '80s - the decade that made 51-year-old Madonna a star - "is a huge obsession of mine, which is totally amazingly awesome because Material Girl, HELLO! It's like '80s themed, which pretty much rocks, so yeah."

Besides loving '80s-style shorts and vintage stores in the Whitechapel section of London, Madge's daughter reveals that she is mad about the band My Chemical Romance and that "I'll be 14 in October, so I can't wait for that because I am FINALLY allowed to dye my hair THANK YOU MOTHER!!"

Prince to give away music in Europe

While some artists are worried about low album sales, Prince has elected to give his upcoming record "20Ten" away virtually for free – at least, for those who live in the U.K., Belgium and Germany.

The artist – who was given BET’s Lifetime Achievement Award Sunday – will distribute more than 2.5 million copies of "20Ten" with issues of the British paper the Daily Mail as well as the Scottish publication the Daily Record on July 10.

According to Billboard, Prince did the same thing three years ago with his “Planet Earth” release, offering a free CD along with a copy of the Daily Mail. This upset U.K. retailers, who felt they’d supported the legendary musician throughout the decades, the music site points out, and the album still isn’t available for purchase in British stores or online music retailers.

Prince has also agreed to release the disc on July 22 with copies of the August issue of Rolling Stone magazine in Germany as well as with the Belgian paper Het Nieuwblad on July 10.

'Eclipse' makes $30 million in 3 hours

Not only did "Eclipse" have the largest domestic release ever when it opened in 4,408 theaters on June 30, but it's also banked more than $30 million at the box office between midnight and 3 a.m. alone. (Oh and by the way, if this movie somehow hasn't made it to a theater near you, 29 additional theaters will play the movie come Friday, according to EW.)

This makes "Eclipse" the new midnight opening record holder, knocking the film's predecessor, "New Moon," out of the top spot. The second installment in the series earned $26.3 million at midnight showings when it opened in November, 2009.

As Gossip Cop points out, "New Moon" went on to earn $72.7 million on its opening day, so we can only guess what the first day totals for "Eclipse" are going to look like.

Twihards, be honest - are some of you seeing this movie two or three times on the first day?

'Toy Story' and 'The Wire' mash-up a hit

Who knew toys could be so hardcore?

A mash-up of the critically acclaimed HBO drama “The Wire” and scenes from “Toy Story" and "Toy Story 2" has been generating almost as much buzz as the newly released “Toy Story 3.”

McNulty and some of the gang’s voices out of the mouths of animated toys is pretty funny, though we warn you, the language is for mature audiences only.

So why are we writing about this in a family-friendly blog? Got to, this America man.

Barbara Eden pens memoir

She bared her belly on “I Dream of Jeannie” and now 75-year-old Barbara Eden is baring her soul in a new memoir.

Crown publishing announced on Tuesday that the blonde TV icon will conjure up “Jeannie Out of the Bottle,” a 2011 tell-all in which she’ll share her on- and off-screen encounters with legends past and present, including Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Lucille Ball, Paul Newman, and Clint Eastwood.

Fans of the ‘60s series “I Dream of Jeannie” will also get their wish as the star - born Barbara Jean Morehead - will dish about her experience portraying a 2,000-year-old genie who shacks up with a Florida astronaut, played by Larry Hagman.

“Like Jeannie, I've been bottled up long enough - it's time for me to pop the cork and talk about the amazing people I've been fortunate enough to meet along the way, and the highs and lows of my everyday living," Eden said in a statement.
