Dick Wolf hasn't given up hope on 'Law & Order'

NBC may be done with “Law & Order,” but that doesn’t mean Dick Wolf is.

After NBC’s upfront presentations Monday, the show’s producer said that he’s seeking out “other offers” for his 20-year-old series, according to The New York Times. There may be a chance that Wolf will take his weekly series to TNT, much like what the producers of “Southland” did when that show was canned by NBC, according to Deadline.com.

But it seems that Wolf – who, the NYT notes, wanted to see his show outlast “Gunsmoke” as the longest-running prime time drama – wants to exhaust all his options before turning to plan B: a two-hour TV movie that would wrap the series.

“The patient is not dead,” Wolf said Monday. “It is in a medically induced coma, and we are hoping for a cure.”

Dear Dick Wolf, my entire FAMILY is rooting for you.....NBC what is the matter wwwwwaaaaahhhhh....first you dump Jay Leno/Conan O'Brien. The other shows cannot compare to our BELOVED "LAW AND ORDER". NBC you need gumption...but that's OK because wherever LAW AND ORDER goes we will follow. I sincerely hope that you consider. I've noticed the other shows and they do not hold a candle to OUR "LAW AND ORDER...but I wish you well NBC....really I do.

Come on NBC, this is the best written show on TV. Somebody please slap some sense into those who made that decision.

NBC Sucks, pay Conan O'Brien 45$M to go away, the same amount that it takes to make 24 Law &Orders..a show that sells all over the world its so popular. Zucker et al should are bad executives. Dick Wolf should be able to make deal. You cant keep making 300,000$ profit an episode Dick if you REALLY wanna save the show.

I am so upset over the cancellation of L&O. It has been my favorite show since it began. I hope that Dick Wolf can bring it to another network. NBC totally screwed up, moving the show around and taking it off it's 10PM time slot so they could put Jay Leno on instead....well that was a total failure. Half the time I could not find L&O because they kept moving it. C'mon Dick, you have lots of fans behind you. Shop it around! Thanks!

NBC is dead wrong about this, and I've been a devoted fan for many years."Law & Order" is a wonderful show that cannot die...it's just too good. I hope another network picks it up soon.

How could such a thing happen to LAW & ORDER. The stories that are told are pertinent to today's culture. The acting is superb and the scripts are well-written and the dialogue is crisp and exciting.

NBC needs to get their act together, first the Jay Leno fiasco now this, what are they thinking? It's the only show, except for SVU, that I watch on NBC..

Please renew the series, either on NBC or TNT, at the very least a 2 hr movie!

Anthony Anderson gives the show flavor...and Briscoe and Green was great combo also..The african American actors get no credit.. The only show I watch on nbc..because nbc is to white for me..no lead black actors no black viewers..

My favorite shows on TNT include: The Closer, Leverage, Saving Grace, HawthoRNe, and Southland. Along with TNT reruns.
It makes sense to bring TNT over from NBC to join the TNT lineup.
The only other non-TNT drama I watch on network television are The Good Wife and Law & Order – SVU. Eventually, those programs will show up on TNT in years to come when they go into reruns.
Hey, TNT Knows Drama. It is as simple as that!

Have watched Law & Order for a long time. I continue to watch nightly reruns on TNT.
Would love to see the show go to TNT for new episodes for next season.
TNT knows drama and is there any better drama than stories ripped from the pages of today’s headlines?

HAHA the NBC on crack comment was awesome! Seems like they must be. I wonder what new reality hell they will replace L&O with? I agree with most of Lisa's post, however CSI is on CBS not NBC. So I guess that means L&O is the only decent show? Or did you mean decent in general not just decent on NBC? Anyway, hopefully TNT gets L&O and hopefully they revamp the detectives while they are at it. I love Jeremy Sisto, but Anthony Anderson has never worked for me, and the two never really gelled. He actually kind of turned me off from the show and I would often only watch the last half hour.

NBC is making the wrong decision. They should have gotten rid of Leno a long time ago. Now the only two shows worth a damn are Law & Order and CSI.

I guess NBC just wants to drive all of its viewers away. So very disappointing because the L&O cast they have now is awesome.

TNT should pick it up and run with it. The major networks don't seem to know what to do with prime time dramas anymore, specially NBC.

If, if they decide to cancel the show – at least give it a good send off...TNT or USA should pick it up. My only complaint is the 2 lead detectives – they just don't seem to 'gel' the way others have – Briscoe & Curtis; Briscoe & Logan.....still a great show

I was so devastated when it was announced that L&O has been cancelled. This is the best news yet! I've been an avid watcher since it started. I cannot imagine going through one day without it. The only thing more perfect is if S. Apatha Merkerson comes back for another season...(fingers crossed)

The "record" is meaningless. What would seriously stink is if they killed L & O. It is one of the few procedurals that is not obsessed with the soap opera lives of the characters. I will never forget when Serena got fired. BEST EXIT EVER!!! Plus, unless "Lou" is gonna die in the season finale, I want to know how her fight against the cancer is going and if she marries her beau. I have spent the better part of 20 years with her and I care about her story arc.

I hope he finds another network. It would be sad if they end before they can break Gunsmoke's record.

How can they get rid of L&O, It is such a fantastic show. I have been watching it for about 12 years now, I am the mother of 2 small children and this show is the one thing that I really look forward to every week. Even when it is a repeat I am not dissapointed. I just cannot imagine not seeing Jack McCoy and Crew on Monday nights. What's next SVU then I will really lose it!!!!
