Whitney Houston cancels Paris performance

Parisians hoping to see Whitney Houston perform live in the City of Lights will have to take a rain check – Houston has canceled the show under the advisement of her physician, CNN has learned.

“Whitney is suffering from an upper respiratory infection and after a consultation with her doctors has been advised to postpone her performance,” Houston’s representative said in a statement.

“Whitney was excited to open her European tour in Paris and deeply regrets having been forced to postpone the show,” her rep added.

The show will continue on to Manchester, England, for an April 8 performance, but those hoping to catch Houston in Paris should hold on to their tickets – a new date will be announced shortly, the statement said.

Whitney Houston has the best voice I have ever heard in my lifetime and I am now a senior. If she is having problems at this time in her life with her voice, then she should step down and give back to society perhaps in a charitable way with her time and effort. To have had her talent is such a tremendous gift that humility and appreciation are 2 qualities that she should be focusing on instead of canceling performances and explaining why she had to. People who choose to criticize and bash her should be ashamed of themselves. Who are you to pass judgment ... unless you want to be harshly judged as well. I believe that thought comes directly from the Bible. Her voice will live on forever as the best of the best.

She's a piece of garbage. She can't sing, her concerts are outrageously expensive and she thinks her fans are crap. Throat infection? LOL Believe that one suckers. She's singing like Minnie Pearl on acid. She can try to lip-sync.

You guys are such stupid quacks. An upper respiratory infection is no more than the medical way of saying she has the common cold. Go read a book and stop waiting on this lady to fall.

Superstars on tour normally cancel dates on their tours when ticket sales are not selling well. Micheal did it, Janet did it last year, Prince and Modonna did it as well. Big deal.

Paris was known to be fond of Jerry Lewis and Jerry Lewis takes care of kids with Muscular Dystrophy. So if it a cut of the profits went to the MDA , then I am sure things would be better with most folks. You could have Jerry Lewis promoting Whitney Houston.

"Basic Communication" , take a look at your own grammar and sentence syntax. Examine the last sentence you wrote and find your own mistakes. Seriously, does it really matter if people are perfectly adhering to grammar and spelling in posting these comments? I doubt very seriously anyone would go to hell if they didn't capitalize the word 'god' in a sentence. Whitney was talented and contributed a lot to the music industry, had a downfall and personal problems, so who are you or anyone to judge her life. I have a lot of respect for people who get up when the 'chips are down'. Yay, Whitney!

If you have nothing good to say then don't say anything at all! Whitney is a great singer and an inspiration. people need to learn to forget the past and recognise the here and now, she's trying to turn her life around and it's negative comments that help to push her back into that ugly state. i'm 17 and i love her music, even the old ones. the Caribbean loves you Whitney, wish you'd have a major concert in one of the islands soon. i know she will continue to press on despite her many obstacles, including negativism. THERE'S BEEN HATERS SINCE THIS WORLD BEEN GOING ROUND but guess what? she has nothing but love for ya'll

I adored Witney. She was beautiful, had the best voice, was successful and all went down in the rain and under the bridge. I hope she recovers from her addictions and any other malady she may have. Even if she doesn't sign anymore, she will always be the one who sang the National Anthem better than anyone at that memorable super bowl. I will always wish her the best. People who are critical of her, are not far off, even if they are cynical. It's just human nature.

I am glad that we live in a world were every one is perfect and no one ever makes mistakes. It so easy to judge others. How about looking at yourself every once in awhile. We all have made mistakes and hope that our loved ones will forgive us. Stop being so critical of others and look her as you would hope some one to look at you.

The best thing about life is that positive is always possble. The worst thing about it is if feel that you need someone else to help you make that change and need approval of others. When you are in the spotlight and people that are still living in darkness of "I wish had thier fame". It is difficult for them to see anything but your pass. We should pray for her or take a look at person in mirror.

No surprise to me. I know she's been trying to stage a comeback, but she's been gone too long, and ruined her voice through years of drug addiction. Of course, Oprah interviewed HER, too, and put her back on a pedistal. Nevermind she did drugs while raising her young daughter. I guess she's now a saint thanks to Oprah...

It doesn't surprise me one bit that Whitney is having to cancel or postpone performances. I saw her when she performed on Oprah a while back and she just doesn't sound the same. Her voice is gone. I don't mean to talk about Whitney, but I know for a fact that she will never be able to perform any classic Whitney songs. I'm talking about "I Will Always Love You" and stuff like that. Her voice is not what it used to be.

I believe that Whitney is trying very hard to make a decent comeback for her fans and herself. She keeps God first and believe in future possibilities for her career. By the way, how do we know for sure that she is still smoking now. She may very well have stopped since that time of the released statement, but if not just give her time. Health problems for her is probably because of the drugs from in the past, but she has improved so much since 2007. May God bless you Ms. Whitney and the ones that are "true" fans will never speak or wish you harm.

I hope she is going to be okay. She has one of the most beautiful voices that I have ever heard. She did "Hold Me" with Freddy Pendergrass when she was only 19. That song still brings me to tears. My fear is that sometimes you can't go back. Is her voice still as strong as it was? I hope so for her.

New date has been announced. June 1st, 2010. Sucks for those who bought tickets. You can get a refund and then repurchase seats at the new date which may be the same or worse seats then before depending on demand. However, you can't get the SAME seats guaranteed. So if you like your current seats you maybe out of luck for June 1st. Better yet, just buy any cheap seat left on day of concert to ensure there is no cancellation. Ahh, now there's a thought!!

Why is everyone whose supporting Whitney a religious nut? Is it that hard to separate the music from the person and look at it from the outside artistic route, than bring a "god" into the picture? I got by track records; yeah she's a good singer who has a problem with drugs. And that drug problem perpetuates upon itself. That's it. No god no magic. I'm not saying she is using, I am just saying if she was it wouldn't be that big of a surprise, and I'm almost positive if you were to believe in a higher being, he shouldn't be near as petty enough to care about Houston's career.... then again he might.

The only thing I have to say "We fall down and we get up". Donnie M said it best. Whitney, said it even when she was going thru she kept God in heart. The bible says "They that wait on the Lord shall renew their strength". It's time people to stop judging her, because if we sweep around our own front door, you'll find some dust still there. We all make and have made mistakes. If it there wasn't mistakes, there wouldn't be forgiveness. Therefore, there will be no need for GOD. Just as Whitney tries to stay clean and keep her life on tract, the best thing you can do is PRAY for her. People stop rejoicing in people downfall and let's continue to lift each other up. May God bless you Whintey and your family. There is only one Whitney. Always have been and always will. Love you.

It takes a lot of courage, will power and God given guts to make the attempt to recapture what was once the old you.The old you is now a new and improve with the help of family, friends, and those who will support you. Don't hate on Whitney, she can have a respiratory problem after smoking for a long time the lungs take a beating. Be Real at Least with your ownself. Leave her alone, if God gave her another chance, then what you have to say means a hill of nothings. Grow up, people can and still do change in this life. It happens every day when you are willing and positive to make a change in your life. No I am not some reformed addict, just annoyed with people's stupity and ignorance. Life is Real not a Joke, some win some lose. She have proven to be the winner to make a comeback.
