Did Paige Miles get a raw deal?

It's safe to say that former "American Idol" contestant Paige Miles had a tough run on the reality competition.  The judges said that the 24-year-old had a strong lift-off early in the season, but pretty much crash-landed Tuesday night during a much-panned performance of Phil Collins' "Against All Odds."

Randy: "That was honestly terrible."
Ellen: "I'm going to hand the music critique off to Kara and Simon."
Kara: "Somewhere along the line I think you stopped competing."
Simon: "I think you're going to be in serious, serious trouble tonight, sweetheart."

After Ryan Seacrest told Miles she was done, Cowell told her no matter how she did in her goodbye performance, the judges would not use the once-per-season save on her and didn't want to give her any "false hope."

She really was "against all odds."

"Even if they already had in their head that they weren't going to save me, still, just the opportunity would have been nice instead of just kind of slamming the door in my face," said Miles, the day after her "Idol" quest came to an abrupt halt.

The Florida native had no illusions about her performance.  She knows it was bad... but believes her lingering laryngitis had an impact.

"You know, trying to map out the rest of the competition and trying to have something left, I tried to take slower songs, which really aren't my strong suit," Miles said.  "It hurt me."

Do you think the judges were little rough on Miles by deciding beforehand that she had no chance of being saved?  Or should they have taken her farewell performance into consideration?

Paige seems like a nice young lady, but her singing is what go her booted off. It wasn't just last week's performance, but it was all the prior ones after Hollywood week that did her in. It was not her first time in the bottom two. She had a soulful voice, but didn't sing any soul songs at all. Then again, singers like Fantasia were more versatile. Paige just never blossomed. However, they should have let her sing one last time before booting her, like they did with other contestants. I hope Tim Urban gets the boot next.

paige's last few performances unfortunately have been going down hill. which is sad because she auditioned very well. the judges should have allowed her the ability to sing to save herself but i dont think that even if she she had sang as well as she did in her farewell song they would have saved her. they seem to keep that save for closer to the end when someone really talented needs a second shot.
there is always next season and now that she has exposure perhaps that will help her launch a singing career. i wish her only the best.
Now..... lets get tim urban the heck out of there, shall we?

Finally Paige is gone! Too bad they couldn't have done a 2 for one or 3 for one! I wish the judges would call Lilly back!

Yes, Paige did not do well in her last performance. BUT Marvin Gaye is turning over in his grave, due to Andrews performance.

All the others that were sick were WAY better than Paige on her best day! She has been terrible the past three weeks and if the judges felt she was even remotely worth saving I'm sure they would have not said what they did. Why put her through any more pressure/agony?

I'm sure some record company exec is still interested to give her another chance with all this publicity.

This is the first season I have really watched the show... but what i do know is that the people do the voting.. the judges just give their opinon. and you have to know that everyone loves to disagree with them when they say bad things and love to agree with them when they say good things. When a really talented performer is voted off it is because the people didn't vote for them. You can not assume that if they perform well that everyone will vote for them and vote for other favorites. Lets remember than most of the contestents have never performed infront of a large audience or in front of cameras how intimidating and frightening, even a great singer may sound pitchy or off key until they get use to the idea of performing a audience of millions. So the contest in my opinon is who will regain their composure the quickest and will be able to command the stage... These kids deserve credit just sticking it out and making a go of it. so many of us are to affraid to even try. We will send home some good ones lets just hope they relize their potential and keep trying. Good luck to you all!!

Paige was terrible this week, and those are the breaks. But they should've sent Tim Urban home too. Why is he still in the competition? I know he was a replacement, but why did he even have that status after Hollywood week? And now he gets to go on tour? Terrible. Cute to look at but not at all a pop star. He's the Sanjaya of this season. Overall, seeing that all the "best season ever" hype is a bunch of hooey - producers knew from the start there are only a couple diamonds in this mound of coal. I am summarily underwhelmed.

Well other contestants have been sick Crystal, and one of the guys. They did better than Paige, she was just terrible....she can make excuses until the cows come home and bad signing is bad signing. I don't think getting her voice back would have kept her around any longer. There are just more talented people than her, but she may have stayed longer or at least been in the top ten ahead of Big Mike, Tim Urban and the guy who looks like Danny Gokie they all need to go. Paige was better at least better than all three of them.

All this hype about Bowersox winning? I agree that she has a good voice and will probably make the top two, but she seems so one dimensional to me. And Siobhan, please stop screaming your songs at the end. We know you want to show your range, but the screaming ruins the entire performance for me. It's so annoying. Paige, sorry, but it was time for you to go. The Phil Collins song was, well......dreadful. I don't really see potential in any of them at this point. Boring season........

Paige was not capable of competing for weeks prior to finally making the atrocious decision to pick a song that she likely had not even heard of, let alone understand the meaning it is supposed to convey.

Crystal needs to just be Crystal, regardless of what the judges tell her, and she will have a longer career than vitually any Idol who has come before her. She is that good because she HAS to be. Her livelihood is at stake for herself and her family, and she shows that in every single performance.

Casey will last as long as he puts the guitar down and slowly SLOWLY backs away from it. Otherwise, he won't make the finale over the screeching Siobahn and whatever witchcraft she is using to mesmerize everyone.

Paige , in my opinion , should have been the first idol voted off. I was totally dismayed each week when she made it through. Alex Lambert should still be in this competition. I have a feeling that he will make it in the music business without the help of Idol. And if I am wrong about Paige...she will make it on her own as well.

This american Idol is not the same as before with the exception of 3 good singers the rest should not be there. The judges let go of the good ones and for whatever reason kept the wrong ones. Again from the remaining 10 only 3 are good the rest got to go. I don't know what these judges are thinking. All along they have let go of good singers. Regarding Paige she is a good singer and they were very hard on her.
They should of let her finish her song and then let her know that they were not going to use their save on her.

Every contestant except Crystal Bowersox is pretty bad this season. I really don't get the judges overlooking Siobhan Magnus' pitchy and off key renditions during the song but somehow think that the screaming at the end makes it all worthwhile!! Don't get it all! May be they should have a separate competition called American Screaming Idol!

Laryngitis does not make one tone deaf. She was flat on almost every note. And she got increasingly worse each week. It hurt to hear her!!

Right or wrong, she had zero chance of winning. She really CAN sing quite well, but picked horrific songs. I also think her much needed makeover came too late.

I didn't like that Simon told her there was no chance for the save. I don't like the save anyway...but if they are going to have it then they need to let it be open for all. At least they should pretend it's open for all. Her last three weeks have been bad & she wasn't one of my favorites but I the last night didn't seem fair to me.

I definitely agree that Paige should have been given the opportunity to sing. You could see by the judges reaction that they were wondering if they made a mistake by not saving her. Although she had a few bad weeks, she still has a great voice that should have been allowed to sing for the save.

I think Simon had an epiphany before this season started and decided to make it his last. How perceptive. The contestants this season are weak at best...Paula's leaving has changed the dynamics of the judges and the last 2 who will be standing are very predictable. The top 10 had better enjoy their summer, as I don't think we'll see any stars emerging from this group....other than possibly Bowersox or James.

Paige deserved to go as she was one of the weakest contestants consistently.

She should have been given the opportunity to sing, even if the answer still would have been no. Lacey Brown was given that opportunity last week. I would love to know what the judges were thinking when she was finishing her goodbye song! That was the Paige I will really miss seeing on American Idol. She definitely brought something unique to the group.

What was ridiculous was that Paige actually rocked the house in her farewell performance. You could see the judges throwing their hands up like, "Where did this come from?!" That performance alone would have revived her chances of winning and it would have made for great television if the judges said, "wait, stop, we were wrong. We unanimously vote yes to keep her." With this show being all about ratings, you would assume a producer would have thought about that.

It was time for Paige to leave. Although she had the potential, Paige never really brought it. Her performaces went from mediocre to bad. Paige shouldn't feel bad, because there ten other competitors that should also be eliminated.

Miles totally screwed the pooch, so to speak. She definitely deserved her situation after such a terrible performance. As a fellow singer, I know what similar situations can be like, and I sympathize with Miles.

The judges comments aside, Paige had a horrible performance. You can factor in the laryngitis or her period or the song but the past three weeks performances have been way off and you can't keep people around that aren't on top of their game. There's always next year. This is a non-issue and the only reason it's being brought up because as a whole this season is terrible. There are so many things wrong with American Idol that it's hard to find anything good. Bowersox and James will more than likely be the two remaining finalist and it's just a waiting game until that point

Currently there's only ten minutes of the show worth viewing: a one minute slice of each performance – two minutes if it's worth watching. Everything else is like the ingredients of a McDonald's Big Mac – FILLER! I've got better things to do that listen to Ryan Creepest and boring commentary by the judges. This season is a dud.
