Penelope Cruz 'elated' by Oscar nomination
Penelope Cruz's role in "Nine" has been good to her this awards season. The actress was nominated for a Golden Globe and a SAG award for her portrayal of Guido's mistress, Carla, and she's also snagged an Oscar nod as well for best supporting actress. "I am completely surprised and elated," Cruz said of the nomination.
"Rob Marshall is not only a genius but an absolute joy to work with," she added. "I woke up every morning excited to collaborate with this amazingly talented group of actors. Filming this movie was such a special experience and to be nominated for this role makes me so happy." Cruz is up against "Up in the Air" stars Vera Farmiga and Anna Kendrick, Maggie Gyllenhaal for her role in "Crazy Heart" as well as Mo'Nique, who has taken the best supporting actress honor at both the Globes and the SAG awards for her role in "Precious." |
