Family, friends attend Casey Johnson funeral

Johnson & Johnson heiress Casey Johnson was laid to rest Tuesday in a private funeral in New Jersey.

The service was attended by close friends and family, including New York Jets owner Robert “Woody” Johnson, Casey’s mother Sale and her sisters Jaime and Daisy.

Johnson, 30, was found dead in Los Angeles on January 4. Her family arranged for her body to be flown back to the east coast for a private funeral.

She struggled with diabetes her entire life, but a cause of death has still not been determined.

"Casey struggled throughout her life fighting this disease, and she would want to see all of us continue that fight on her behalf," said family spokesman Jesse Derris. Donations can be made to the Casey Johnson Memorial at the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Johnson had recently been romantically linked to reality television star Tila Tequila, who claimed that the two women were engaged. Tequila was not in attendance at the funeral service.

What really puzzles me, is this poor girl died and so did Britanny Murphey, both in their 30s and BOOM, both are laid to rest, how do 30 year olds, who have money, both just die? it doesn't make sense to me and now it scares me to turn 22 and have no money. Something is seriously wrong with this picture.

Teeluh can B in H if you know what I mean. Who cares about this story anyway, you've all got people in your town dying everyday, people who probably contributed much more to the world than either of these gals ever will. Shame on cnn for thinking this is news worthy; yes it's hard always being right, suckas.

I think that I would not be at the funeral either after the situation with the clothes and the dog went down. What the heck, why is she a bad person when they BOTH said they were engaged not just Tila. You dont know their home life just the edited crap the people want you to know. Just feel sorry that someone passed away and quit trying to think she is any worst that each of us.

i don't know anything about tila or casey besides what i've read, and i try not to judge. i can see on the out side that casey was a sunshine to the whole world, especially her friends and family . i know nothing about tila,i don't want to,she could have and probley was a gold digger, casey had too much too fast in her young life, maybe a little slower and she might not have burnt out so fast.parents need to set limits,it's not the money that killed her,she just needed some guidence on how to spend and how not to spend it . she will never know what life really had to offer her as a real person.not a person who could buy anything and anyone she wanted .thats not life. being loved is life.

I have been type 1 for 21 years myself, diagnosed at 9 years old, and it is very trying. However, I doubt very much that this sudden death was linked to her diabetes as the illness generally starts breaking you down years before you lose your life to complications. I just hope that the focus on her type 1 diabetes does not revert us all to the "Steel Magnolias" view of diabetics. We are healthy, normal people as long as we take care of ourselves!!!

It's sad that Casey's parents did not raise her with an awareness of how to live her life, regardless of how much money she had. Children of the affluent and not so affluent should learn the value of hard work and responsibility. It was materialism and celebrity that killed her, not a disease she was born with.

I find it so sad that Tila was the one to post her passing, that was not her place at all. Casey was and still is beautiful, and her passing is very sad, for any family. I am certain that Sale & Casey's father tried to help her, but given the situation it was difficult. I don't doubt that she was loved by her family, and her very adorable little girl. May Casey's spirit remain alive in her daughter and family, but there are certain things that every family can not overcome, money or not. As for Tila, drop off the face of this earth quickly, you are garbage, and you always will be, no matter what your relationship was with Casey you handled it like she was trash, posting the strange items that you did, didn't show love, it showed THAT YOU MATTERED MORE THAN HER TO YOU. You are nothing more than a piece of used toilet paper, good riddens, flush, flush!

I cannot believe that CJ was allowed to adopt a child. What agency gave her a positive home study? Now a child is living with her grandmother when that child could have been placed in a safe, sane and drug free two-parent family. Hopefully she won't end up being a decadent train wreck like CJ.

Tila is a media slut – but should have been granted to attend the funeral to mourn her loss of a friend (doesnt matter how they were friends but the girls did share moments together). Sorry for the adopted child that was more like an accessory. Dont know if i feel sorry for Casey as she was a person that lived in "indulgence" and "high maintenance".

Cause of death unknown? Really?? Yeah, right. With that much money we all know what the cause of death was.....drugs. Although sad for someone to die at 30, it was to no fault but her own. Just goes to show that money doesn't solve some problems.

Dreadful... Casey chose to have Tila in her life, it is disrespectful to ignore the fact that Tila was very close to Casey... Casey was obviously a gentle soul who just wanted to be loved. The tough love that the family did by not paying her utility and maintenance bills simply made the matter worse. God Bless Casey and may she finally find peace with the angels.

A rich drug addict was laid to rest. What's the big deal? Not like she used her last name to help fight juvenile diabetes or anything else for that matter. She's known for being a strung out drug addict who dated a nasty reality star gold digger. It's sad she died alone but so do others who can't afford health insurance and are struggling with poverty due to this horrible economy.

So excuse me if I have little sympathy for a spoiled rich kid who threw caution to the wind and lived a selfish drug induced existence.

What saddens me more that Casey's passing is the child left behind. It's one thing to be on your own and treat your body with disrespect; it's another to choose to become a parent and still continue that disrespect. While Casey's child does have a family who will love her, that child is again without a mom because of reckless and irresponsible behavior.

I'm so sorry for that child.

With respect to Tila...thank God she was prevented from attending. It would have become a media circus rather than the private event it was. Another one who has no respect.

the tragedy lies in her daughter that she left behind. since the grandparents have had her for some time (and she's only two) maybe the mother figure isn't w/ casey, but w/ grandmom. hopefully, she'll be surrounded by nurturing, loving family members.

Thank god that money grubbing train wreck of a person, Tila T, was not invited to the services. Are you people kidding me that she should have been there? How many others is it so obvious to that this chick is gonna eventually try to scam Johnson & Johnson the way she tried to get money and fame from Shawn Merriman from the Chargers. I guarantee that some day soon, you will see some kind of lawsuit from T.T. claiming she has some sort of right to Casey's money. DO NOT be fooled by this pathetic excuse for a woman!!!

On one hand it is difficult to feel sorry for someone who has been indulged to excess all their life, albeit a rather short life.

On the other hand, I feel sorry for the child Casey was at one time, the child who was indulged and not raised any better than to go on and over-indulge herself in harmful ways. Sadly, she goes to an untimely death...that too is what money can buy.
