Britney Spears leaves fans disgruntled

Britney, Britney, wherefore art thou Britney?

The pop star tweeted clues to fans about where they might find a pair of front row tickets to her Thursday show in Los Angeles.  The scavenger hunt ultimately led about 200 die-hard followers to her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.  It wasn't very stealth because the area was fenced off, and surrounded by security guards and police officers.  At about 6 pm, a car pulled up, and Brit Brit slid out.  She handed the contest winner his tickets, posed for a couple of photos and smacked her gum once or twice - then she ducked back into the car and disappeared.  No wave to the crowd.  Not even a "Hi, y'all, thanks for coming."  The whole act took about 30 seconds.

Many of the fans who gathered couldn't see what was going on (including our camera) because the view was obstructed by the crowd, as well as a clown with a giant rainbow afro. A blonde woman broke down into tears.  A mother of two teenage daughters cursed the singer, saying she'd taken them out of school for this.  A girl complained loudly to someone on the other end of a cell phone, saying "Dude, she was gone in five seconds!  One-one thousand, two-one thousand, three-one thousand, four-one thousand, five-one thousand.  Come on Britney, you can do better than that!"

Well, they're not the only ones disappointed by Britney's disappearing act.  Jordin Sparks - who's been opening for the former Mouseketeer since August and shares the same record label - hasn't even met her yet.  Jordin says she's met Britney's parents, and hopes to meet their daughter by the end of the tour.  She'd better hurry.  Their North American "Circus" tour wraps this weekend.

I agree with McEvil One. If education is no longer a priority in this country to many parents then is it no wonder that so many kids can't count back change?
I am an old prude who thinks Brittany has talent, but is a fool for covering it up with her what she wears. Or should I say what she does NOT wear. She sells herself short and is partly to blame for the recent baby boom for teens. I had a hard time, but when my 24 year old daughter was in school she did NOT get to purchase provocative clothes and she is only one of the few girls who got pregnant AFTER marriage.
As I said, I am a prude. I stand for imagination, modesty and decency and will not buy music from a artist who thinks so little of herself that she feels she must sell sex or no one will buy her music. Sad.

To the mother who took her children out of school you should be arrested. Education is more important than a concert. Mom you need to enroll in parenting classes. Sending the wrong message...

i agree w/ that chick complaining on the cell phone. not even a hey, how are you all? thanks for coming? nothing? what a ingrate.just probably filling some sort of contracted -duty.

i saw via showbiz tonite she is fixing to release a box set of greatest hits/ celebrate 10 years of hit music? thanks...but no thanks. ill avoid that like the plague. put a "s" in front of hit music and that will be more fitting, really
she is not getting one red cent from me...id rather spend my $ supporting a real artist, or at least one w/ manners, who doesnt take their fans for granted.

kris said it best, w/ all this lame brit brit stuff out there, makes me appreciate true talent, like MJ more and more.

kris summed it up pretty good too, w/ "Her performance at the 2007 VMAS was atrocious and no dedicated, real musician would have done that"
she fluffed off her attempt at a comeback back then and yet is deserving of yet another chance? ( circus???)

ines @ you, They lack humility and good manners, how I miss Mr. Michael Jackson!!!=amen!!! michael had problems too, but he gave to NUMEROUS causes, and had manners/polite, unlike some gum smacking slut flashing her nether regions...

It was very stealth because the area was not fenced off, and surrounded by security guards and police officers till someone won the contest and found the clown walking down the walk of fame. If CNN did some research and found out how the contest worked they would have know this. I question CNN as a news source when they report news in such a bias way.

Leave Britney alone...! Seriously. Stop buying tickets to her concerts, stop buying her CDs, stopy buying her perfume and her fashions and whatever other products she's hawking this week. Don't _go_ on wild goose chases that serve to do little more than inflate her already exaggerated sense of fan adulation. Either she'll realize that she didn't get to where she is for being an irreplacable part of the culture and start treating her fans with a little more respect or she'll finally flame out and vanish for good. Either would be fine by me.

Wow! People make such a big deal out of nothing.... It was a contest people, it wasn't her doing a meet and greet. The only person that she needed to pay any attention to was the contestant winner! Seriously.... You hear good and bad stories about celbs all over but just like us they are entitled to a bad day every once and while. Yes, the fans are what gave her the money in the first place but you don't know, I'm sure it was pretty hectic where the winner was choosen, and in hectic situations you don't have time to stop and say hi to everyone.

I was at this event. Lets get the facts right
-First off there were many more then 200 fans there
-how cool was it that Britney had this contest for her fans and stopped by to bring the tickets to them in person

No matter if you like her or not this was a great event for her and the fans. She gave away 2 FREE tickets and told her fans how much she loves them by having this fun innovative guessing game through clues on twitter.

Denise Quan needs to stop hating on Britney and get a life of her own.
And you people need to stop hating on people and get a life too!

It seems the bigger you get the more you think anything and everything you do is acceptable. Too bad that's the mentality of so many like Britany. The day may come when her star will fall and then will she know how to act like all the rest of us do? I don't think so.

For those of you who TRULY believe that Ms. Spears is a "has been" is showing your ignorance of how things work in this country. Let me name a few points to ponder: one S.C. State Governor, one S.C. state representative, one rap artist, one Hollywood starlet(your choice), one late night TV host (your choice), one daytime talk show host, one TV cooking show host, one national news anchor, one local new anchor, and Britney. Y'all seem like an aberration with your mean-spirited selves. This is still America, where even you can still have someone love you when you're not being perfect. Why is it that we like to build people up – just to tear them down. It's like "I dare you to do well." Just get off our backs, will you?

Scary how people like here even became popular and made so much money. She is such a bad influence on girls, and she can't even sing. She is not classy at all more like trashy. And as for the mom who took her girls out of school, this just goes to show how kids are so spoiled now a days, and how spoiled we are in AMERICA. Shouldn't we be concentrating on more important things, like people that have aids, or no food to eat??? There are a lot more important things we should be reading about...I could care less about her, I just wanted to get a laugh. And I love Jordin Sparks I saw her in concert she is amazing. Now she has got talent and is classy. And Brittany hasn't even had the decensy to meet her, I guess all that fame that she doesn't even deserve has made her a snob. She should just focus on those two poor boys of hers.

As for those of you bashing Britteny, look to her parents,
She was doing music videos that look like something from a strip club when she was 16. What parent would even think of allowing that. As the father of 2 girls now in college I can understand letting a child have freedom to explore themselves without overdue censorship. My angels didnt always dress the way I would have liked them to or do what I wanted them to. However, there is no way at 16 I would have allowed thenm to do anything close to what Britteny, or for that matter her sister was doing. I actually feel sorry for Britteny, her parents taught her to worship the almighty dollar. but as the old sog goes "One day your looks will be gone", then what will she do...

She only showed up to give away fromt row tickets because no one is buying them. They've had to rearrange the stage to make the venues look smaller. Everything she does is designed to whip her fans into a frenzy because other wise she does not sell. That's 100 children who may be so upset that their cheapo parents might go ahead and by the last minute tickets.

roberto, you make a interesting point...one others hadnt thought of-
(Perhaps the mom who brought her kids is wiser than we thought; by seeing what a fraudulent b—- Britney is firsthand, those kids might see the world and our obsession with fame and fortune for what it is. If so, that would be worth a day of school…) i dont agree taking your kids out of school to meet any celeb is just cause, but this experience had taught them how self absorbed and shallow brit is... looking good in a bikini seems to be more priority for her than her fans, who incidently support her in good times bad times and supported her shopping sprees and her mooching entourage...or even her kids.
jordin has at least real talent and doesnt need to bump and grind like a slut to get recognizition...

Everyone knows she can't sing and I wonder if she's been pulling a Milli Vanilli on us all along. Record companies don't look for real talent anymore, it's all about image and that's sad.

Britney Spears has lasted alot longer than I thought, and this amazes me. She brings nothing to the table that we haven't seen before. She lip syncs everything since she can't sing, has no songwriting talent, whatsoever, and should be considered a big has-been. Her performance at the 2007 VMAS was atrocious and no dedicated, real musician would have done that.

"Artists" like Britney make me miss Michael Jackson even more. I am glad I got to grow up to his music and not Britney or Beyonce. Time for today's teenagers to experience and appreciate some real talent-Britney is not it and needs to just go away.

I am not a Britney fan at all and I opened the article just to see what she did. In this case come on, what more do you want from her?

It sounds like this was just a contest to give away some tickets, nothing more. She did not have to show up to actually give the winner the tickets, some minion could have done that. If there was actually just some guy standing there with the tickets to give to the winner then there probably wouldn't even be an article about it. I hate to say it but Britney did ok, its everyone else that is complaining are the idiots in this case, talk about self entitlement.

For the mother that took her kids out of school and complained about this, well bad parents tend to complain a lot.

I'm really surprised that the people who came out were complaining about a contest that didn't need to happen, and that they didn't need to participate in. At least they had a chance at some free tickets. At least Britney showed up. She didn't have to. Someone else could have handed the guy his tickets and that's it. It's incredible what people will complain about. If we all got handed bars of solid gold, someone would have to start up about how theirs wasn't shiny enough.

However, it just goes to show you and prove once again that people always go out of their way to complain about free stuff one way or another – No good deed goes unpunished. Wherefore art thou? Ugh. It drives me nuts when people misuse this line from Romeo and Juliet. Juliet is not wondering where Romeo is, she is wondering why he is named Romeo Montague. As a Capulet, an affair with a Montague is forbidden. Hence the whole "star-cross'd lovers" thing. So, unless the idea here is to curse the name Spears, and that entire clan's penchant for giving others short shrift, this allusion makes no sense.

I don't know you and will most likely never attend one of your concerts, but having 8 grandchildren with the oldest being 14, I thought I would write and ask you to please "wake up and smell the roses" regarding some of your behavior when it comes to your loyal fans. You have so much in your life to be grateful for .... You are beautiful.. talented ... healthy... and you receive love from your wonderful family. I lost my mother to cancer three years ago and my dear sister alittle over a year ago. I also have a sister that is struggling with some major health concerns. What I am trying to say without overdoing the "Life is short" statement..... is... Please be grateful for what you have and have alittle more respect for the fans that have helped to make you the star that you are! I wish you the best in the future and know that someday... the headlines will read the...... Britney Spears has made a REAL comeback..... You will finally become the real STAR that you were destined to be. Sincerely,

Well, it seems we all have issue with what others are doing. That is why we end up disapointed all the time. I have too much to deal with personnally, then to expect something from anyone else, especially a recovering, celebrity addict, who was treated like crap by Timberlake and Federline. I guess the little girls at least see a lesson in all her erratic behavior – DON'T TRUST A SELFISH GUY, NO MATTER HOW CHARMING AND FUN HE MAY APPEAR. ALL HE REALLY WANTS IS SEX AND SELF GRATIFICATION FOR HIMSELF. All the little girls out there need to understand that they are better off looking for a solid, honest and genuinly charming guy (which is hard to find), then going with the shloop in front of you because he is sexy and can dance. WISE UP, OR GET USED. But I wish Brittney all the best. She will find her way if she is honest with herself and surrounds herself with selfless people. After all, she was a strong sensation and like Christina Agulara sings , "You are beatiful, and every single way". Brittney is very cute, and now maybe she is ready to get real!

"A mother of two teenage daughters cursed the singer, saying she’d taken them out of school for this." Really? I don't see where the singer did anything wrong, but this mother surely did. First for taking her kids out of school for a concert ticket contest, then buy cursing the singer for not rewarding her bad parenting. Forget what kind of role model this singer is for a moment to consider the role model this mother is to her own children.

Um, "wherefore" means "why" or "for what purpose," not "where."

When Juliet asked "Wherefore are thou Romeo?" she was expressing her anguish at having him belong to her family's rival clan. If he had had a different name, their love may have been much easier.

So when you begin the post with "wherefore art thou Britney," you're asking a much more existential question than I think you're intending to ask.

Fer chrissake's, it was ONE pair of tickets. That's ONE- count 'em- winner and 199 losers. What did they expect, she was going to hand free tix for everybody? Get over it. Girl can't sing anyway, why do you think they put that ugly electronic buzz over her voice?

OK, so 1 time she moves a lil 2 fast – during the whole 2nd trek of THIS whole tour she's givin front row tickets away by playing this "if u seek britney" game – cute & fun... she doesn't even have 2 do this w/her fanbase & the way the tour has been selling out shows. It's like that saying "if u R 2 nice / say yes to do something & the next time u simply just can't it's like u never did anything nice / said yes @ all" – this story is just stupid

Any mother to take their kids out of school to see her is as dumb as Britney. There ae more important issues to cry over then this event. I think they all need an education including the star!

They were lucky to see britney. She has been doing this contest for many shows and she never show up, only in NY and LA. That was at 6:30 and she had a concert at 8:00. I really don´t know any artist that give free tickets for every concert and go to give them to the winners in person.
She really care about her fans. st..pid article

"A mother of two teenage daughters cursed the singer, saying she’d taken them out of school for this."

That sounds exactly like I would have pictured the typical Spears fans to be (uneducated, unruly and unmarried). You just can't get a better stereotype than that.

It's unfortunate that Brittney forgets about those who pay her bills - her fans. She has had a lot to deal with in the past couple of years, but what success she currently has is because of the fans that have stuck by her. She needs to realize that.

Who cares? I can't believe a mother took her two daughters OUT OF SCHOOL to do this. I love Britney (I'm a southern girl) even if she does lip-synch in all her peformances (she still puts on a good show), but what did these folks expect–to hang out with her over coffee for a few hours? At least she showed up, gave the tickets, and held up to her end of the deal.

I think we should support Brit the girl has been thru enough back biting. Her lazy ex is bleeding her dry because his to lazy to get a real job. I don't agree with what she has done in the past but at least she's trying to straighten up. I feel sorry for her, she's young and made bad choices and us the people will hate her for making them. That makes me sad that we can't look past her mistakes. Like any of us is soooo perfect.

Britney is an artist/entertainer. I saw her show and thought it was fabulous. It was known prior to the show that she would not be singing. She did sing two songs and did a fabulous job. I think expectations are so high for performers, she is expected to dance her butt off and have enough wind do belt out all of those songs? She is supposed to stop her life and stay home with her boys and not work while they are growing up? There are very few parents that stop their lives completely to stay at home, and if they do that is great. Not everyone is cut out to be a stay at home parent. Some parents feel it is necessary to have a life outside of their home life. I think Britney is doing great and I hope she keeps up the good work. As far as distancing her openers: have you seen what people have done to her in the past when she has let them in her life? Let her try to get through the tour and keep the real friends she already has.

I really wish people would stop giving this girl attention. She has absolutely no talent at all. REAL music fans don't listen to this garbage anyway. It's all fluff and crap her music. Her image is just based on nonsense magazine covers. How this girl even made a dime on singing is beyond me. She sounds like a goat when she sings. I doubt any real music producer, label head would pay her any mind. Please, America wake up and stop bying the junk she puts out, with a little luck she will go away and never come back.

same thing happened in New York. She came by the M&Ms store where there were hundreds of people waiting for her appearance. She came on a double decker bus, got out, posed for a picture and left. No one knew what was going on we couldn't see anything. I didn't know it was going to be such a let down... I wouldn't have spent half my day walking around NY for tickets taht were given to some lucky people who were at the right place at the right time.

Why won't people learn that once she snagged her audience back after her meltdown, that it is back to being, "Can't be bothered Britney". I, for one, do not believe she ever came back to sanity.
As for taking the kids out of school for it, not too smart either. Makes me wonder who is control of that family.
Britney will have to go a loooooong way up the entertainment ladder to make up for the disappointment she has meted out in the last few years. Maybe she needs to stop trying to be a "star" and concentrate on being a good mother........priorities Britney..........

She is fading. I hear her last circus concert was nothing but lip syncing and bumping and grinding. You can find that at your local strip joint, but much cheaper. If the power goes out then there is no show because she can't sing without all the stuff that makes her sound somewhat talented. She is not all that.

why does this not suprise me? ive always heard shes fluffed off her fans,in the past. but not even meeting jordin sparks, who opens for her?????that is just wrong, sounds like someone is getting too big for her britches.i dont blame the mom cursing, b/c she took her kids out of school to meet their idol, who apparently didnt feel her fans, who put her bread and butter on the table and feed/support her AND her kids are worthy of her time...never been a britney fan, and not about to start now, esp hearing this. yeah shes made progress in her life, mainly b/c her father had to step in. minute his conservativeship is over, im willing to bet shes gonna go buck wild again..shes cried( infamously, prego w/ matt lauer if i remember right) in that one interview she wants to be left alone=but yet she has a comeback attempt( hello vma 2007?) and fluffed that off, and then goes right back into the limelight..guess she needs more $$ to blow thru again. and that is why i am sick of her and wish she would just go away, live her life away from the spotlight, and be a mother to those kids..not prance around lip synching half naked..( and her sons sometimes watch her shows?!?! if thats true im cringing..) i will say i dont wish her bad things( like relapse, yes if she is bipolar, that is serious, legit medical issues to consider=but doesnt get her off the hook w/ her behavior.esp slighting her fans..
