DJ AM dies at 36

Celebrity disc jockey Adam "DJ AM" Goldstein was found dead Friday in his apartment in New York, we've just confirmed.

Drug paraphernalia reportedly was found at the scene. The New York Police Department tells CNN, "There is no criminality suspected at this time."

The NYPD says the coroner will determine the cause of death.

Goldstein was a DJ to the stars, who became a celebrity himself and dated the likes of Nicole Ritchie and Mandy Moore.  He was set to star in a reality series for MTV this fall called "Gone Too Far", in which he was part of interventions staged to help young people with drug problems.

He and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker were the only survivors of a plane crash in South Carolina last year that killed four other people.

Family ties on 'Real Housewives'

Please tell me the producers forced Lisa to take NeNe with her to visit the family on the West Coast.

Otherwise I am at a loss as to why the boisterous NeNe at all needed to come along to celebrate Lisa’s grandma’s birthday. I suspect that even with grandma being in her 90s, she's still never met the likes of NeNe.

Thursday night’s episode didn’t quite suck me in, though I felt some sympathy for Lisa as she struggled with visiting her brother’s grave.

I was slightly annoyed that her family felt so driven to push her to do it when she was clearly not comfortable with the situation. The fact that her dad refused to allow her a few minutes alone at the site as per her request was just the icing on the cake.

But back to grandma. She looked fabulous for her age! If, as she asserted, Vaseline played a role in her looking so young then sign me up.

Back home in the ATL, Kim spent time with new cast member Khandi who is going to try and help Kim with her music career (good luck with that). As Kim goes on and on about how much alike the two of them are, I had a moment of deja vu.

Didn’t she say the same thing about Sheree last season? And we all know how that turned out.

Your pop culture cheat sheet

DreamWorks Studios has picked up the rights to the late Michael Crichton's final novel, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "Pirate Latitudes" will be written by David Koepp, who also scripted "Jurassic Park." It's unknown as of yet whether or not Steven Spielberg, a producer of the film, will direct.

Laura Linney

Acclaimed actress Laura Linney, at right, will star in the upcoming Showtime series, "The C Word," Variety reports. The series is a dark comedy about a woman with cancer.

ABC's much-anticipated remake of "V" has been shut down for two weeks, according to EW.com. This is not expected to affect the show's premiere date of November 3.

Last season Fox's "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" was paired with "Dollhouse." This season, "Terminator" is canceled but one of its stars, Summer Glau, is joining "Dollhouse," according to EW.com. Glau's first major role was on the short-lived cult series "Firefly," from "Dollhouse" creator Joss Whedon.

At the box office today: Rob Zombie's sequel-to-a-remake, "Halloween 2," Ang Lee's latest "Taking Woodstock," and "The Final Destination," which is actually the fourth film in this series. iReporter Kevin R. Farren has a review of the latter.

Baby on board for 'Project Runway'

A week into their new digs and “Project Runway” is starting to deliver. Despite last week’s somewhat rough landing onto Lifetime’s network, this week’s episode was a perfect fit for me.

The challenge kicked off with a then-pregnant Rebecca Romijn. I liked that they were laying down the “difficult body type” gauntlet nice and early, so we could separate the real designers from the whiners.

Even though her dress isn’t really worth a mention, Irina got hearted when she was one of the few to say that maternity wear shouldn’t be this astronomical leap from designing any other form of ready-to-wear. If you know how to cut and drape fabric, handling a pregnant belly shouldn’t be beyond your abilities.

Louise, Christopher, Althea, Qristyl (I know, I was surprised too) and Shirin – who gets props for designing not just a dress but a lined and completely wearable jacket - gamely stepped up to the plate. Logan, on the other hand, complained about how difficult this would be since he’d “never really had a lot of pregnant women in his life.” Seriously dude? Why would that matter?

And then there was Malvin with the awesome hair who will always have something to say and a different way to say it each time. Okay, I admit it, I liked him.  Even though he was an oddball, I appreciated his attempt to create an innovative, conceptual design with a story behind it – isn’t that what “Runway” is all about?

Yet I also understood the criticism that was flung his way - his “Mother Hen” idea was far from boring but it got completely lost in translation; Nina even said she was disturbed. Malvin, honey, you can create all day, but if a woman can’t wear it then what’s the point?

But when compared to the likes of Ra’Mon – who insists on recreating prom dresses from the early 21st century – Malvin was on the better track.  Mitchell also came up short and Nina let him know his “city chic” was less than so. If I would’ve had to face her “WTH” face, I think I would have just thrown in the towel then and there.

Heidi was also in rare form last night, almost making me forget that Mr. Kors was absent, when she told Mitchell, “just because we sit down here doesn’t mean we can’t see.”
