Generosity of a stranger

Michelle Mann and Basra Arte

Michelle Mann and Basra Arte, both 18, flew in from Vancouver, Canada, to honor Michael Jackson, their pop icon. They were outside the Staples Center this morning, brimming with excitement and celebrating the generosity of a complete stranger.

"It's overwhelming," Mann said. "We can't believe that we're here."

The two had appeared on Canadian television and said they planned to fly to Los Angeles for the memorial service - even though they had no tickets. Six hours before their flight, 15-year-old Karlo Karanan, who'd seen them on TV, tracked them down and gave them his.

"I'm looking forward to being in the presence of other fans," Arte said. "The energy is going to be amazing."

Michael may you rest in peace. When I heard that MJ passed away it really hurt my heart. I grew up listening to the Jackson Five and Michael, he seem like a family member. Every song he made was a hit and he will be missed. I love you MJ and may you rest in peace.

May he rest in peace. This is really not news. With more important things happening around the world why was I subjected to this coverage every time I turned on the TV? The media, just like his father is trying to profit from his death. Unfortunately we are adding fuel. Sad that our core values have dipped tremendously.

I'm only 52 years young and I was raised listening to the joy that came from Michael's heart and voice. He was a gift to us all! Even though I couldn't go to his memorial, I'm playing his music all day in my cube. He will never be forgotten because his music lives on and I promise to play his music for my grandchildren because there will never be another Michael. Michael, thank you for the joy and thank you for caring about the children of the world.

My heart at times hurts from the immense sadness that overwhelmed me beginning 6/25. I didn't want to believe Michael was gone; I hoped he would survive. I have always thought of Michael as the little brother I never had. His is a career I followed from his first moment on the public stage. I always loved him.

We are all experiencing a tragedy that should never have happened. As much as I am -and have been constantly hurting – my heart is heavy for the family who have to intimately live with this loss.

Michael Jackson has always been a part of my life. When I was 9 years old I had the opportunity to see a young Michael and his brothers perform live, and just like all the other young girls in the audience I thought Michael was going to marry me! Well, I didn't get the opportunity to marry Michael Jackson but my husband is a true Michael Jackson fan and we met in Korea and he would play songs from Michael Jackson's invincible album and he would sing and dance in front of me and when that happened, I fell in love!!! Everytime I hear Break of Dawn, Heaven can wait, and Butterflies I fall in love all over again with my Big Daddy and so, I want to Thank Michael Jackson for making my dreams come true because although I didn't get to marry him, he had a big hand in the man that I did marry so I feel like Michael married me as well!!!!

May God continue to Bless your family and especially your children, and know that the world is a lot darker because it has truly lost the brightest light that shown on it when you left. I love you Michael and Rest in Peace, cause you have truly given us your all.

    Love,
    Tawanda "Tee" Simpson

I grew up listening to all the Jackson family music and I still can not believe that Michael Jackson is gone. It is my prayer that Michael is in heaven as a little boy having the childhood that he sacraficed so that he could entertain the world. My prayers are with his family and all of those who truly loved him.

Thank you CNN for provifing the best coverage.
