'Indiana Jones 5' in the works?Empire magazine and Ain’t It Cool News are reporting that a fifth Indiana Jones film is in the works - at least according to producer Frank Marshall. Shia LaBeouf, who played the motorcycle-riding Mutt Williams in last year’s “Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull,” hinted to the BBC that a new film was being planned, and producer Marshall confirmed it with some key reservations. "It's really about the script," Marshall told Empire. "Once we see that, we'll see. We're not going to wait another 20 years. We'd all love to make another one. I'm anxious to hear the idea!" Of course, the script was the holdup for “Crystal Skull.” Director Steven Spielberg, producer George Lucas and star Harrison Ford all had to agree on the idea and the script, and apparently several ideas were floated over the years - and several A-list screenwriters tapped - before David Koepp’s screenplay (based on Jeff Nathanson's and Lucas’ story) got the go-ahead. Depending on your point of view, it was either a thrill to see a new Indy or, to borrow a phrase made popular in the aftermath of the film, it “nuked the fridge.” Spielberg, Lucas and Ford are all on board for the new Indiana Jones, according to Marshall … assuming they get a good idea. What would you like to see Indiana Jones do in the new film? Or would you rather stick with memories of “Raiders of the Lost Ark”? - Todd Leopold, CNN.com Entertainment Producer |

We all know there were problems with IJ4. But what is it specifically you folks don't like about Shia? He's not a bad actor, per se, but what if Lucasfilm had picked an actor who looked more like Ford? (I saw the latest Star Trek film and had no problem accepting Chris Pine as a young Captain Kirk.) Or what if Jones had fathered a second son? A new series could "The Jones' Boys in . . .(whatever)"
Completely agree with most everyone here...Id love to see another movie but NOT if its going to be full of crappy CGI and horrible story lines. I mean, aliens? Speilberg needs to slap lucas in the face everytime he suggests something sci-fi related for the new film. If it was up to him, Indy would be revealed to be an alien in the fifth one. Come on guys. And you can also go on and lose marion...she was rather annoying.
George Lucas should be ordered to stay away from his own creations - the guy used to turn things into gold, and now he's turning everything into crap. Think the original Star Wars and 'Raiders,' and now think of the three Star Wars prequels that destroyed the franchise, and this last Indy movie which sold out to the CGI silliness and the 'alien' plotline which destroyed what made the 1st three movies fun to watch. Awful.
Lucas, go away and retire somewhere.
Oh dear god no... please no... I havn't found the parts of my brain that melted as a result of the last movie!
I can't believe how bad the last movie was... I saw Raiders of the Lost Ark more than 20 times and I'm still not tired of that movie but the last one sucked big.
Good actors like Harrisson Ford and Cate Blanchett should not be in movies this bad (I mean, really bad movie... storyline horrible, acting even worst!)... I didn't care much for Shia LaBeouf or the portrail of his character... annoying most of the time!
If they can somehow keep Lucas' grubby little paws out of the CG Dept. and not turn the whole thing into one of his silly cartoons, it might be OK. Ford still has the chops for the character and, with a good script, they could pull it off.
It's time to let go.
Harrison Ford is my favorite actor of all time. I have mostly all of his movies. BUT please leave Indiana Jones alone. The movies are still great. Don't make them over into continuing story lines that don't go anywhere. Leave my Indy alone!
I have to add to my last entry.
There is another issue with them creating a new film.
In the very recent past there have been two competing films, one of them I mentioned with Brenden Fraiser and the Mummy Series.
Angelina Jolie's Lara Croft for Tomb Raider has been another issue.
The point is this. The new Indy film is going to have to compete with those, films.
I do agree with folks saying that Shia needs to remain in his Transformers Chracter as he brought too much of that to the Indy film.
However, if they can find a role for Megan Fox in the new Indy film, that might be a worthwhile look.
I really implore ILM and Lucasfilm to stick to the tradition of their Raiders of the Lost Ark. Its important! They created a character that was built on that role.
I have a few ideas and would be glad to talk to Lucasfilm, about them. but I think the Legend of Atlantis would be a definate story for them to look into.
There are a few other stories that might make an interesting plot, but 100% agreed, leave the whole Ailen thing to J.J. Abrams and Rick Berman.
Finally, if you guys are thinking about another Star Wars themed film, they really need to step away from the last batch of eye-sores they had.
What ever they choose to do, just make it better than the last flick!
Bring back the Nazis!
I am a now-adult who spent my teen years loving the Indiana Jones movies, but let me tell you, this last one just about killed me. Much like the last three Star Wars movies, you can only take so much CGI to replace something like a good story. I heard Lucas was jonesing for an alien spectacle, but, boy, can he not see what kind of dreck that story produced? Please, George, if you feel the need to ride this ride one more time, let someone else write the darn thing!
I think they should phase Harrison Ford out and put Shia as basically a new Indy. A whole new set of adventures with him and have Indy be a secondary charachter.
the last one was such a let down, i would like to see at least one more so i can get that bad impression out of my head. aliens? are you kidding me? i can't help but think that was the doing of lucas. aliens?????????
I think South Park already did a better followup to Crystal Skull than Spielberg and Lucas can "do".
As much as the last one was disappointing, I love to see Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones. It makes me feel llike a kid again. They are just good fun! That said, I would love more and more, but maybe this time give the story ideas to someone besides Lucas. Seriously, Lucas is out of touch.
Let's face it, anything Lucas has touched in the last 10 years has been a failure. The Star Wars prequel trilogy is a perfect example and "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" shows that even Spielberg and Ford can't save a franchise.
Hopefully there won't be a 5th movie. I have wonderful memories of the original trilogy ("Raiders" in particular). Please don't ruin them by having an Indy: The Next Generation, particularly with LaBeouf, who is uninspiring in pretty much every role he plays.
How about Indiana Jones and the End of the Rainbow? He goes looking for a pot of gold and leprechans but only ends up finding that Herve Villechaize is still alive and has used all the gold for hookers and cocaine. Loosely based upon the greed-dominated later careers of the filmakers.
Ok, so whatever you think of Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull, the truth is, we wanted Indy back, and got a half good, ultimantly flawed verson. I think we all need to write George and Spielburg and demand a re-make of the last 20-30 minutes! Seriously, lets do this!
For the first time in movie history. Lets demand a remake.
If they can't do that, the next movie needs to be alot more real, and use 35 millimeter FILM, not digital, to make it. Bring back Sallah, but have us get to know him better.... Lets continue the story, give it new twist, and not worry too fast about handing over the torch.
I'd also like to see more of Marshal College. Maybe you could have him and Marion have a semi real adult fight, over somthing. That would add some reality. Maybe she thinks Indy (now older) is cheating on her with a young student, who actually likes Shia.... Maybe she likes Harrison, but he's innocent, and has to try and get her back... Hell, I don't know. THeres ideas for two old farts to do.
And thats the other thing! They're not that old! Harrison looks GREAT for his age, and has got more adventures in him. Get creative. Hell, I can totally see him looking up old friend Ernest Hemingway in Cuba in the early 60's... I don't know.... Maybe show him writing a letter, or thinking... I'd just like to see the more academic Harrison, and the tidy yet acelectic feeling of the college more, if it could be woven into the story. These are just ideas. The main thing is, believe in what you do, and don't make it HACK.

“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” deserves a sequel.
And If it doesn’t I know I deserve. And so do all fans.
Okay, you guys have great critiques and suggestions. I have an Indiana Jones script written that I believe would make 85% (or more)of you happy. The problem is I need is some way to get it into the powers that be. Doors opening directly to Ford, Lucas, and Spielberg have gatekeepers. Anybody know another way in? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

We got the point that the character is a serial character based in the 30's era but when he has aged and therefore is put in the 50's era all of a sudden it doesn't mean the tone has to be 50's sci-fi. The essence of Indy is that he is a 30's era serial adventure archeologist character who deals with supernatural artifacts of this world. Things like spirits in the ark of the covenant and the ritualistic scarifices of cults in India worshipping glowing rocks of this world and the holy grail and the supernatural powers that go with it. Just because he is older now which places the time period in the 50's does not atuomatically mean you change the essence of the character to be a 50's sci-fi x files agent. He is a 30's era serial archeologist adventure character and always will be. You could have easily kept that essence and had the crystal skulls be something supernatural of this world and not have to involve aliens in anyway whatsoever. They become something supernatural of another realm from nowhere on this planet. There was no reason to make it be 50's era sci-fi. It just sucked plain and simple and it was because they set him in a 50's sci-fi theme. When every Indy film has never had a 50's sci-fi theme. To make an analogy it would be like taking the The good Godfather Movies and setting the characters in present day so Don Corlione would be the head of a crypts or bloods type gang. It is totally cool to do that because it is set in late nineties early tens gangster rap film genre, so it is totally cool, you guys just don't get it. That was sarcam, it would suck it would not work or be good just like Indy 4 so don't do an Indy 5.
Maybe a story about Marian being kidnapped . I could see Mr.Ford and Shia going after those who've taken her. I would like to see the new family unit being there for each other-that would be believable.
Yes, I agree with a ton of people on the no aliens part. I think all of my friends and myself wanted to gag repeatedly while watching the fourth one.
Number 4 was free on an international flight to Thailand last summer. FREE...and I couldn't stomach it after the first 20 minutes and had to turn it off.
No.more.please.
The 5th Indiana Jones movie must be about the journey to find Atlantis and pilfer its ruins before the unexpected volcanic, tidal wave-filled climax!
Please, NO MORE!!! If the Jumangi-esque flying monkeys & flesh-eatting ants & horrible story line weren't bad enough, how 'bout the absolutely pathetic & horrible "Russian" accent & attempts to speak Russian of the Indy's nemesis in this one? I mean, really, with the $$$ they spent on this movie, couldn't they have gotten her a language coach? The days when you could fake lines in another language are long over. A prequel might be cool though, with Ford doing small bits has potential though.
Dump Shia, dump George Lucas and his crazy alien stories, and keep Karen Allen.
Indy finds out he has a daughter. She gets in touch with Indy and has a letter from her mother explaining why she never told. She needs his help she has information on finding Noah's Ark. Indy asks his son and Marcus's nephew for help.
In the ark is God's instructions to Noah on how to build the ark, maintain the ark, and how to survive the journey for him his family and all the animals. Very vaulable information to our fellow man.
Indy's daughter finds romance with Marcus's nephew who is a lot like her Dad was in his younger years. Their Romance is also a lot like the romances her Dad has experienced.
So it looks like the daughter is more of taking up Dad's place then his son.
As a huge fan of the Trilogy, the last one was devastatingly disappointing, it takes twenty years to churn out crap??? Legislation should be put forward to halt Lucas from continuing to screw up the movies we all love!
I grew up around swarming ants ~ having watched that in real life I thought it was well done in #4. That said, what I did not care for is no one got dirty. When you're running around in the tropics you're going to sweat . If it's dusty it'll stick to your sweat and you'll get grimy. If you're wearing clothes, your clothes are going to become sweaty and dirty and they're going to rip due to the strain and tension of all the action. The person doing all this is going to appear dishevelled, sweaty, dirty – NONE OF THEM GOT DIRTY in #4! They looked like they were on the set of Regarding Henry instead of Indiana Jones. If they do another movie all I ask is let'em get dirty. Please?!
Scratch Shai Legoof and then Steven, George and Harrison should sit down and re-watch the first 3 and compare them to the 4th, honestly I didn't understand what they thought was so great about the story for the 4th.
I guess I'm in the minority that loved the movie, by then again Harrison Ford is my hero. I love anything that man does, and I especially love the Indiana Jones movies. Indiana Jones makes me faint.
I think, if they do decide to produce another Indiana Jones movie, that they should focus on some more historical treasure sans aliens.
I agree with most of the posters. The Crystal Skull sucked big time. The story was lame and it didn't have that sense of fun that the other films had. I think I only half smiled once the whole movie.
We love the Indy movies at our house. And "Mike" how does it not match? Isn't the whole idea of Indy the excitement of his wild and paranormal experiences as he hunts the world for lost artifacts? Didn't a thuggie pull out a guy's heart in Temple with his hand and as it was still beating the guys chest closed up? And the weirdo king/kid had eyes that lit up with some sort of magic....how is that so different from aliens inspiring ancient peoples????
Last movie was awful! If you have a good story like the first and third films, then move forward. If not shut the book on this character and develope a new one. Last movie was just sooo painful and sad.
PLEASE, do not let Lucas help write the story! Aliens? mercy. He almost single-handledly destroyed Star Wars with his 'epic' [The Phantom Menace and ] with the most important character, Darth Vader! Darth Vader is a momma's boy! Let's just live with how great 1 and 3 were and leave it at that!!! No more Indy!
It's strange because most of the people I know loved the 4th Indiana Jones movie. I liked the Aliens storyline. I never thought Harrison Ford acted old. And I thought the "nuke the fridge" moment was equally as fun and impossible as using a raft as a parachute in the 2nd film. But I guess, according to these reactions, the general public hated it. Oh well, I would love to see a 5th Indiana Jones film, especially if they design it to be the last of the series with a great send off to the character. Maybe a "full-circle" storyline with the Ark.
A 5th movie may not be a bad idea considering all the even numbered movies SUCKED & the odd numbered movies were awesome. Also, a little less Shia would be nice. I don't get what people like about him. He's not that great of an actor, he plays the same character every time. Besides, Harrison Ford, Sean Connery.....Shia LaBeouf. Not sure about that.
My idea would be to make a prequel. Tell the Jones fans the story of how he became Indiana Jones and maybe have a few adventures that he was involved in as a teenager or even younger. I do like Harrison Ford and maybe he could play bit parts in the 5th
Indy4 was great. a fun movie I could take my kids too that made me feel like I did when i watched Raiders back in the day. people seem to forget that a movie can be fun & enjoyable without having to have a scipt that please everyone. I think it's great that they stuck to the kind of stories that made the first 3 great. Indy is still 'the man.'
Make another one to make up for the last. As long as Goerge Lucas is excluded, who apparently lost his movie making tallent in the late 1980s after completing Last Crusade, a good product may result. His horrific creative efforts with Star Wars and Indy 4 should have resulted in being banned from any Indiana Jones effort. It is a bit worrying that Indy 4 was the script for which everybody waited 20 years
Lord I hope this isn't true. Or, if it is true, I hope that Spielberg goes at it alone so Indiana CGI doesn't ruin this one too.
I have just three words for you....fridge and nuclear blast.
Nuff said.
The 4th one was brilliant. First and foremost it acknowleged the times it was set which is a communist cold war where the pop culture phenomenon was flying saucers and the next great technology was the nuclear bomb. Would anyone truly swallow Nazis as the villains in 1957? Ford and the script aged the character very well and Karen Allen never overplayed Indy/Marion relationship. The red ants were a fantastic surprise in the vain of "Doom's" bugs, "Raiders" snakes, and "Crusade's" rats. No one seems to realize that. Indiana Jones is all about journeying through a spoof of history. It was the second best film of the 4 movies, behind "Raiders."
Go for it. Would love to see another Indy film. Atlantis sounded good!
If you have to make a 5th one, go back to what worked before. The 1st and 3rd were by far the best and both were involving biblical / WWII / Nazi conflicting ideologies. If you can't find another story of "biblical" proportions...read it again, or abandon ship!
Reduce each chase scene by at least 1/3; Make it tougher to figure out the puzzles and add some back story! Seriously, it's spelled p-l-o-t! If a book were written about the movie and no car chases were included it would have been about a paragraph.
"Indy goes to South America with the son he never knew and immediately figures out a 5000 year old puzzle. The end." Ok, one sentence.
If they can do better than that, have at it!
I have an idea: Let them do again the 4th.
A 5th movie would be great! What about finding Noah's Arc. Now that would be interesting.
One of the posters had it right when they wrote that Harrison Ford didn't look like he was having fun in the movie and that he was doing us a favor. The magic wasn't there in the 4th one – and you have to blame Lucas, Speilberg, as well as Ford. They had to agree on the script after all.
But, I would welcome a 5th installment. I bet they want to make one better movie. Lose LaBoufont and the CGI and it'll be infinitely better.
I am for it, I thought the last one got a little weird at the end...Atlantis would not be a bad place to start
I think Spielberg, Lucas, and Ford need to do a couple of things before even entertaining the idea of another film: A better plot (no aliens), give us a historical icon or epic place (Atlantis), listen to your fans (cut down the use of CGI and give us real special effects (rolling bolders, sliced bridges, motorcycle chases), and put the effort into the story. Everyone involved should consider the fifth movie to be a thank you to the fans, and chances are if there is even a remote chance that something in the script could even be considered cheezy, cut it – a prime example of this being Mutt swinging from a vine, an alien spaceship leaving Earth. The fridge scene was fine – it was an example of Indy's good luck over the years.
Having grown up idiolizing Indy only to be so let down by the 4th film, I will say that if they make a 5th one of course I'll go. So will millions upon millions of other people.
Lucas screwed up Episode I of Star Wars and then got back in the groove with the second and third one, maybe it will be the same with Indy.
KEEP SHIA LaBEOF out of the movie and it will be great!!!!!
Movie makers never know when to stop or when they've crossed the line. They make way too many sequels of movies that were not designed to flow that way. Or, they produce remakes of classics, then they wonder why everyone old enough to actually remember the original boycotts the remake. Take a hint. "Halloween" should never have been remade. I shudder to think what they're going to do to "Footloose". What's next – "The Rocky Horror Picture Show"?
Doesn't anyone in Hollywood have an original thought anymore?
Bring back the grit and grime of the old ones. The fourth one was way too "neat and clean". The beauty of the old movies was that Indy got beaten and bruised and was a character that people could connect with.
The fourth movie I felt had the Indiana Jones feel until the end with the aliens that was just ridiculous and out of context of the first three. I would have liked to see the bibliocal theme come back those were the best when they followdd that story line. I don't know about a fifth one, I feel like Harrison Ford has passed his prime for this type of movie, although I was very impressed with how in shape he was on the fourth one. I do know that I do not want to see Shia LeBeouf take the lead role though it would not be the same.
I'd love to but if there would be : esoteric stuff (so many subjects), no communists and please, for God ' sake, no aliens and things like that (it must be "serious", a Indiana Jones' touch, u know ?). Im sure Spielberg and Co know the 4th was not really accepted and if they do a 5th, that should be like the 1st or the 3rd.
Perhaps Indiana Jones and a Night Without Depends?
It's time to stop and try to put Indy 4 out of our heads. As a lifelong Indy fan, the 4th film just about did me in on a franchise I've loved since I was 11 years old, sitting with a best friend dreaming of entertainment review.
We reviewed the 4th episode (along with the others) and eek – sheer "horror" compared to the classics of the first three.

The last one was horrible except for Harrison Ford who did a great job. But it was like watching Indiana Jones in a movie that he should not have ever been wasted in. Swinging with monkeys in a tree...aliens. Also remove Shia please we know why he is in there and just let the franchise be remembered with Harrison Ford.
George Lucas needs to be removed from all action films. Anything the guy touches becomes CGI-laden and borderline slapstick; both unnecessary and unfunny. C'mon...swinging from vines? Swasbuckling? Animated snakes, groundhogs, monkeys, AND bugs?? It was mindless time-filler for a movie that had very little going for it to begin with.
As for the 'climactic' end scene (insert *spoiler* warning here), did it even make sense?? It seemed counter-productive to the entire plot of alien visitor as archaeologists seeing as how it lead to death and destruction. Not to mention the paradox that existed; How could the skull have been taken in the first place if, when returned, it caused the ship return to when/where it came from.
I'm told that there were amazing storyline possibilities that were already out there thanks to well thought out, developed, and critically acclaimed videogame franchises, so why not borrow from the video-gamers and apply those successful storylines to the much larger movie-goer audience??
That's right. Hollywood lacks commonsense. How else does so much garbage get green-lit?! The irony is that Hollywood has no problem recycling crappy storylines and piling on dreadful sequels but when you get a gem like the original Indy trilogy, they're left scratching their heads as to how to F* it up.
Lucas, Spielberg, and Ford should be ashamed of themselves after that last one (based upon a pet project/concept of Lucas's for years). These creative types have shown themsleves to be as self-indulgent and money hungry as any subprime peddler (be they the loans or the securities). It's like a toxic relationship: they exploit our desire to relive some of the better moments of the past films by bringing out more episodes, but the magic is gone. I'm certain that Dr. Jones' University Dean would have talked him into retirement by now...maybe George and Steve should take a cue and put Indy out to pasture? Quick, before he breaks his hip or chokes himself with his whip!
I think it would be a good idea for Indiana to go back in time and take a part of passed film's and combined them together give people something to think about and find very interesting the excitment has alway's been so overwhelming in the Indiana film's maybe meet the people who he has tried to save there treasures and Honour just a thought whatever comes up l think it will be just has good has the passed film's that have been made and not everybody has had enough of Indy at least there is a good and different story line every time can't wait for the new one.
Cookla.
If they remember that the story and the characters are what makes the film memorable, not the special effects. Now days it seems that too many filmmakers think glitzy special effects make up for a weak story line.
What made the first three Indy films the iconic delight they were was the relationship between the characters and the distinct line between good and evil.
Do that again and a 5th film will be welcome.
How about Indiana Jones gets Social Securtiy and retires. I love the movies but please end them, take them out back like Old Yeller.
Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull was such a colossal failure it wasn’t even funny. Two hours of my life I can NEVER get back!
For the love of all that is holy, please do NOT produce another film of this sub-high school quality again!
I agree with Nick from Iowa... the 4th film was set in a completely different era then the first 3 movies and it reflected that... and I think you are all holding onto some fantasy of how 'realistic' the first three movies were... Hello at the end of Raiders the bad guys had their faces melt off cuz someone opened up a box! Temple of Doom had a mad man that could rip your heart from your chest and you'd still be alive and could watch it beat. And then in Holy Grail there was a Knight sitting in a cave from the First Crusade!! Come now... where's the stretch when it comes to Aliens??? Ya I'll concur that there was too many CGI effects, but that comes with the time people... you're living in the digital age!! Get use to it... who knows maybe the 5th movie will be in 3D!!!
NOOOO! "Crystal Skull" was such an appalling turd. Please don't do it again. Among my camp and perhaps others, 'nuke the fridge' has become a term for messing something up royally.
please. don't.
I'm same age as Harrison Ford and thought he represented our generation really well through the first Indiana Jones movies.
Well except for Temple of Gloom? With the mega-wealth Spielberg and Lucas have you'd think they could just 'buy' a great script and 'buy' other people to tell them if it would be a great movie.
But above all let them realize it's time to pass the mantel on or spin-off the concept before they're right here again thinking about,
"Raiders of the Lost AARP IJ-VI".
But make it a graceful, honorable exit and let the originals be fondly rememberd vs. a punch-line i.e. "Nuke the Frig" please!
I'd love to see another Indy film.
Anyone that trashed the 4th film has a very warped sense of nostalgia – the previous 3 were all cheesy, hokey and full of hocus-pocus and top notch special effects for their day.
A 900 year old knight, a magical healing cup, ghosts coming out of an ancient golden box and pulling out a mans heart while he lives and watches are all okay, but aliens aren't?
C'mon – you are taking this franchise way to seriously.
If you want a far out storyline, how about time travel. An older Indiana Jones meets a very impressionable young Lara Croft.Yes you would have to change the game mythos a little bit, but seeing as how Paramount has the rights to both movies, maybe Indy can leap frog a couple times in history to met a young Lara then again to modern times and help Lara save the world. As for all those who are bad mouthing number 4, I am old enough to remeber the same type of response to "Temple of Doom" when it was released and now it's hailed as a Indy "classic". Get over it!
I'd like to see a fifth one, if only to verify my theory that only odd numbered Indy movies are any good.
They thought the crystal skull was a good idea, I'm skeptical as to what they're next idea is.
Harrison and Indy yes. The kid who played his son, NO!!!!
For all those who don't like the 4th Indy and are criticizing a 5th – if you don't like them, DON'T WATCH THEM!! Leave the rest of us room in the theater to enjoy the fun!! I'd love to see a 5th installment – as long as Harrison continues the role, which I know he will!
stick with the "Super natural", not science-fiction. That is why the first and third were great, #2 ok, and #4 terrible. I have heard no-one that liked the story line.
Have Indy go in search of the Fountain of Youth. In the end, he finds it and is immediately transformed back to the Indy of RotLA. Then Lucas can satisfy his CGI fetish by plugging stock footage from the first three into all new Indy movies (a la John Wayne in the beer commercial). This solves all issues. Harrison Ford never ages, the original clever dialogue is used over and over with simply updated supporting characters (swap Nazi's for Vietnamese/Russians/Iraqis) and the franchise can continue well past Ford's death. There! All problems solved...
Oh god... the whole Shia swinging with the monkeys thing has been burnt into my eyes since I saw Crystal Garbage in the theater. Someone needs to assassinate Lucas before he causes any further damage.
I think another movie would be great if they could keep Shia LaBeouf out of the story. These adventures could stand very easily on their own without bringing in the new "It" Hollywood young thing into it. Can't they use REAL actors instead of movie stars?
Anyway, I agree with many others, finding Atlantis would be a great storyline.
I must be the only one who thought that 4 was fantastic. Maybe because I watch the ufo hunters on the history channel. GO LUKAS GO SPIELBERG, Will happily watch 5 at the show and hopefully 6. Hope that Ford makes cameos.
I'd watch a fifth film, but I hope desperately that they don't make a mess of it like they did the fourth. Computer SFX has a place, but excessive motion, blurriness, and not giving the viewer enough visual stability to focus on in sequence after sequence made Indy 4 a terrible visual experience.
The last one was not great, at least in terms of the main story focus. (Although, why are aliens any more wacky than the idea of a deity smiting Nazis, keeping a knight alive for 800 years, or healing a mortally wounded guy with a drink of water?) And Cate Blanchett - usually an excellent actress - couldn't do a Russian accent to save her life.
Having said that, I did enjoy that sense of catching up with old friends. It was great to see Marion again. And Shia LaBoeuf, for all my initial reservations, did a good job.
Harrison Ford's definitely showing his age... maybe they need to do a reboot of this franchise as well, with a younger actor.
Baker makes a very great point! Harrison Ford, in a world where CGI and Movie Magic do not exist, would NOT be flung out of a nuclear explosion in a fridge or car hopping on the edge of a cliff. I almost hate to say it but he needs to become a Robert Langdon. Someone who is so incredibly knowledgeable about things that he can solve many mysteries without force but through intillect.
Second, please for the love of God, no Aliens. That was so god awful that I was actually angry at the end of the movie (even though I knew that's what it was going to be long before the end of the flick).
Third, I like the idea of the son and he can become the rough-houser while Indy kind of leads him in the right direction. I mean Indy can get involved in a fight or two but, seriously though....
Finally, it all hinges on a great plot that pits whomever the hero will be against a tangibly villian that actually stands for something. The Nazis were the ideal enemy not only for their autrocities but their pursuit of accult items. There needs to be an enemy with the same zeal. The Russian angle was just not that believeable.
Anyway....
Actually, the original script for the Crystal Skull that Frank Darabont wrote was really good. I encourage anyone to read it if they can get their hands on it. It's roughly the same plot but with one key exception: George Lucas didn't get his grubby hands on the dialogue and change some key elements for the worse. In fact, Spielberg and Ford both wanted to make THAT script. (The crystal skulls were human crystal skulls and it wasn't blatantly obvious until the very end regarding the alien element. Also, Marion was married to what turned out to be the villain in the plot, which created some good conflict regarding Indy's feelings). It was much more a traditional Indy script. I think they should work with him again if they do another.
Indy, I love you, but honey, four was enough!
They need to recast the part of Indy Jones, like they do with the James Bond movies.
Harrison Ford in anything at any time!!! The man even makes wearing an earring sexy!!
Come on people! It's entertainment! I think they should make as many as they want to make. Nick in Iowa had it right. The ones looking for something meaningful in these films just don't get it. They are supposed to be reminiscent of the the serials fo the 30's and 40's. There are still a lot of good stories to be told as the hero gets older.
It's time for the Prequel. It seemed like it was all but done and then River Phoenix died.
No aliens, please! That is what made the Crystal Skull bite. The Indy films all had a great supernatural faith component that worked well. Why did they change the recipe??
Indy 4 wasn't that bad. Watch is again in Blue Ray DVD and you'll see. There are some cheesy scenes and Lucus is to blame for that. The swinging on vines was too over the top. The alien thing took it in a different direction for the better. Every adventure doesn't have to end up in the desert for it to be good. Indy 4 shook off the dust and Indy 5 will be awesome. Bring it on.
Crystal Skull was a bitter disappointment. The 'ants' the aliens, the nuke fridge. Stupid, and an insult to the previous trilogy.
I'll watch 5 i'm sure, but not with much hope that it will repeat the success of the 1st three.
The bad guy's face melting in the first movie was all I needed. 100% satisfaction. Come on, people, everything else is just a footnote.
Go back and make a prequel to the first movie... Lucas is pretty good at that. Just dont repeat the whole crystal skull... ug.
I wonder how horrible this movie will be compared to that bomb they dropped in the 4th movie. The 3rd one was just as bad. Hopefully they can try this time to make something thrilling and entertaining, say like the original.
The fourth one was bad, but I can't help but watch a fifth one. Most people can't help but watch the sequel, even if they believe it will be bad. Everyone still wants to know what sort of situation Indie will find himself in this time. These films are becoming guilty pleasures instead of actual good films.
I didn't hate the last one, but certainly would never watch it again. I think that the American audience has changed over the last 20 years and they gave Cystal Skull too hard of a time. The corny factor was certainly present in the other versions. If any of those first 3 versions where released today, you be saying how stupid the "1500 year-old man" was, or how unrealistic the idea of "closing your eyes to stop the effects of the lost ark" was. The 70's and 80's were a different time for films, where a guy could dodge 100 bullets and his 6 shooter never ran out of ammo. Maybe they should just do a full reboot of the franchise with Zac Efron in the lead role where he could show the nazis the power of dance...joking of course.
Must we see another Shia movie! Again the Triumvirate will lower they're standards and viewer expectations.
HE NO NUTS, HE CRAZY! Sure why not? Just because you didn't like the 4th doesn't mean you can no longer love the first 3.
They need to do a 5th film as repentance for the filth they released last time. If the don't get it right this time they need to be drawn and quartered in real Indiana Jones style.
Less digital, more analog.
Less slick, more grit.
Less goofy, more brainy.
Less 'homage' and more story. (we get it, Lucas – you went to film school, but stop trying to show that you passed the 'history' course)
Less 'set', more 'on location'.
1 and 3 worked because people could relate to the biblical history involved.
Shia's character doesn't have the scholastic chops to solve a two-piece puzzle; it'll take YEARS to get him up to speed to keep up with Indy. (I mean, what's Mutt going to say all the time? 'What's THIS mean?')
"Crystal Skull" was tragic on so many levels, but Frank Darabont's early draft of the script was terrific. He nailed it. That script almost helps wash away the appalling disappointment that was "Crystal Skull." But even if Lucas & Spielberg were wise enough to hand Darabont the reins on a sequel, it would be difficult to accept Shia LeBouf...even hurts to contemplate it...I feel he has been force-fed to the public as a movie star.
I'm amazed how many people here are saying that since 4 was bad, 5 wouldn't be any better. They need to go back and review Star Trek V and VI. Part of the motivation for making Star Trek VI was because Star Trek V was so abysmal and they didn't want that to be the final voyage for the original cast. It was absolutely the right decision, and Star Trek VI is one of the best movies in the series.
Having said that, can we keep Lucas away from the Indy 5 script?
They've run out of truly bad guys, and they've also run out of magical biblical objects that Indy has to grab in order to keep them from falling into the bad guys' hands.
Indiana Jones 4 and 5 are also the reason there should never be a Star Wars 7, 8, and 9: we want our old friends back the same as they were before, but we also want them to have new adventures every bit as credible as the old ones and still wind up with a happy ending. Life doesn't operate this way, and believable movies don't either. Just leave well enough alone.
The trens would dictate that every other Jones film is great. So the next onw would fall in line with Ark and Crusade. They should stick with the religous storylines more then the Sci-Fi (Skulls and I forgot the name of the second, it was so bad).
The aliens were OK in the 4th. In the 5th they should discover clues that lead to one of the polar caps, where there is huge buried treasure of supreme importance. Then they can realize the Earth has a large hollow portion to its center, from which the Aurora Borealis emerges. It can be like Journey to the Center of the Earth, but with Indiana Jones instead. He's an archeologist, so why not put him the deepest. This would also compliment the hollow heads that come up with these far-fetched, revenue generating scripts.
Crystal Skull was ok and was obviously setting things up storywise for Indy to retire and his son to take over. As to the aliens, the movie was in the 50's and that is when aliens and scifi began creeping into things so that was fine.
For a 5th movie, Indy should be researching Atlantis and disappear similar to how his dad was captured in Last Crusade, leaving his son to find him and help solve the mystery.
They can and should do another movie...but really stick with what makes Indy so popular...action and wise cracks – that's it – NO ALIENS please!!!!
I think they should go to Shangri-la and then Indy can retire there – where he will live forever and then his 'son' could take over...just a thought.
If they do make Indy V, I'll wait until it comes out on DVD.
I want a return to the Raiders formula. Every movie in the series gets a little campier, to the point where 4 was simply embarrasing. The Ark melts your face off. That's out there. Add the asian child side-kick, a mine–car chase, pulling hearts out of people chests, it little more out there. Add his dad, a Templar night, and the Holy Grail's healing powers, even more out there. Nuked fridges, doing balancing acts on the tank sized weed-whackers, and aliens. What's next? Ties balloons to his house and flies back to the cave from the opening sequence in Raiders. Ford and Speilberg (who get crazy too) need to keep this movie a little more grounded in reality. I say his task is to return items that he has taken over the years, to remove a curse on his son.
The story had a lot of potential, Harrison Ford was actually believable, and the alien thing was no different than the mystical religious topics of the first three. I could even get past the nuked fridge. The deal breaker was the Mutt character, he was just a (edited for cnn) jerk, and someon should have told Lucas that he is not a jedi. Seriously, swinging through the trees with monkeys and a swordfight on top of two moving vehicles?
Nobody loved Indiana Jones more than me. The "Skull" destroyed Indy completely for me. Forgetaboutit......
Indy 5 would be fine if it is a good story, but I prefer Star Wars 7-8-9. I cannot say George 'owes' us that, but we fans made him the King he is today and it would just be right to put his energy into those films and make them great. There is so much he could show us, teach us, and entertain us. They could be and should be the best of the lot.
I agree to no more sequels. However,in the new film age of prequels it might be nice to fill in the blanks where the "Young Indiana Jones" TV show left off and "Raiders of the Lost Ark" picked up. I also prefer Sean Patrick Flannery to Shia LaBeouf.
Crystal Skull was horrible... Harrison Ford is way too old. Let Shia take it from here & get a good script/story WITHOUT the aliens
Lucas needs to stay as far away from the screenwriters as possible.
He's proven time and again that a) his story ideas can be downright goofy, and b) he has no concept of what good dialogue is supposed to sound like.
Bring back Larry Kasdan!
How about Indiana Jones and the Cave of bin Laden? Let Dr. Jones get him. Seriously, leave it alone. The fourth movie wounded Indy and a fifth might just kill him.
When I was watching "Crystal Skull," I felt like the Nazi at the end of "Raiders of the Lost Ark"–my head started melting. I should have closed my eyes and not looked at it. So, I'm sure if they made a horrible 5th movie, all of the Indy fans would feel like they were in "The Temple of Doom," because Lucas would rip out all of our hearts and wallets, then hold them up for the studios to see. For someone who always wanted to operate independent of Hollywood, Lucas is acting like a slimy studio exec. He doesn't care about moviemaking anymore, and he's very willing to throw his loyal fan base under the bus just to make money.
I'd like to see Indiana clash again with either religious myths or Nazi fascism. Those were the two things he fought hard to uncover and defeat. Keep Indiana the way he was this time, please!
Look, it's Indy. Make them!
Nick in Iowa said: "People whining about how bad the fourth film was simply do not get that, just as the first three were homages to ’30s era adventures (the time period in which they were all set), the fourth was an homage to ’50s era sci-fi (the period in which it was set). Yes, it had cheesy moments — as did the first three. That’s the point."
Nick, this was not the problem with Indy 4. The basic plotline was cheesy, but that's okay; the first one had Indy fighting Nazis for the Ark of the Covenant – it can't get any cheesier than that. The problem was that Indy 4 was just badly done. The plot was okay, but the script was terrible, the dialogue was terrible, the stunts were contrived, the acting was wretched (it takes *work* to get acting that bad out of talented actors,) and Shia LaBoof was massively oversold as Indy's successor. A good Indy movie could have been made from this basic plot, this just wasn't it.
Turn the whole thing over to JJ Abrams. recast it with young actors. He can create a whole new alternate Indy universe.
Use real locations, Remove Lucas from the mix, get a great script this time. Something Biblical, Noah's Ark maybe? and you are off to a decent start.
they have to mak a new film just to redeam themselves of teh last. Include Ford, but get a REAL story and lay off teh fricking computer crap
Indiana Jones 4 was pathetic and a Indy 5 would be even worse. Too much CGI and a crappy story destroyed the previous three movies.
From all the other comments, it seems like a perfect time for the franchise to redeem itself. However, everything must be right on or you might as well call it "Police Academy'.
As much as I like Harrison Ford he does not need to be Indy anymore. They can either intrduce a new Indy and make it like it's just continuing, (like James Bond), or keep Harrison as the patriarch who passes down the legacy to his son who does not have to be Shia Lebouf.
How boring was Star Trek getting? I think most will agree the new movie kicked it up two notches.
Lucas is CGI crazy, he can't make a decent film anymore since the technology has completely clouded his rather simplistic visions that he has to make up for by OVER-using CGI. Serioulsy, how amazing is he? Not that much cause if he were there'd be a STRING of DIFFERENT films the guy has made, all he's done is flog the same old same old over and over again, simply adding more BS eye candy, he's not about story, he's about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Please put this series to rest...INDY 4 was NOT a good movie and Harrison Ford is just that much older now. Leave the happy memories of the first 3 movies alive before you go and make another horrid movie like INDY 4. and no we DON't want shia labeouf to take the leading role in any of the Indy Movies....EVER!!!!
I preferred 'The Last Crusade' as the final film but if they are going to make another film, please do not have Shia Lebouf in it. He is not a good actor at all!!!
Whether the movies "nuked the fridge" or "jumped the shark," they began phoning it in long ago. Let me keep my memories of Raiders, please.
The Crystal Skull story was based on legends, just like the other three movies. This story was just as conceivable as any of the others. Maybe if some of you people started reading about other cultures you wouldn't think that a Christian based myth is the only way to take an Indy movie. If Indy were to search for Noah's ark, that would be the lamest thing ever! Are you guys even serious? Get off of your butt and actually read a book.
Unless they can hurry it up and get Sean Connery this time, don't bother. Just imagine, 3 generations of "The Jones Boys" on the same screen!
Renee Zellweger plays Harrison Ford's long-estranged daughter in "Indiana and Bridget Jones: The Curse of the Dysfunctional Family"
Less Shia. Please make it less about Shia.
Find Atlantis... that would be an interesting story!
I agree with folks advocating for a "Fate of Atlantis" film. That story was awesome. Crystal Skull didn't do it for me at all. The last 1/2 hour was rubbish, and the whole thing just seemed rushed. Also, Harrison Ford has always been a favorite actor of mine, but he seems
to have lost some of the easy charm that's always been a huge part of the character. I know he has a reputation for being extremely cranky off the screen, but it carried through in his performance–it felt like he was doing us all a favor, and it shouldn't feel that way for such an iconic character.
Didn't the South Park team make it abundantly clear that Indiana Jones was "tragically violated" in the 4th movie? I'm still in therapy over that.
I want see a Harrison Ford drama where he's a college professor or police chief coming to grips with impending retirement rather than Indy again. He's proven he can actually ACT, and I'm tired of re-watching Witness, Mosquito Coast and Regarding Henry over and over.
Have Mr. Ford email me – I have some great suggestions!
While all Indy stories are inherently cheesy, the biggest issue I had with 4 is that they decided to mimic the "everything looks like it's filmed on a set" quality of films from the 50s and 60s. What it ended up looking like was just about every independent movie filmed on digital nowadays.
Get back to the "on location" work that made the first three so visually stunning, and keep ILM (whose work is fantastic when required) out of the picture as much as possible!
At the rate they're going and continuing on with a normal timeline, wouldn't the next one be "Indiana Jones and the Damn Kids on My Lawn"?
They've done:
Ancient Hebrew
Ancient Christian
Ancient Hindu
Ancient Native American
I'd like to see something from Chinese pre-history, and yes, it is time for Ford to retire and LeBeuf to take the lead.
They should bring back Short Round and Willie. I loved Temple of Doom and now my kids do too!
There was absolutely nothing good about the last movie. The special effects were terrible, cinima photography horrible. Felt like I was watching a made for TV movie. The acting, lines and character development was awful. With that said, the first 3 movies were great. I think that the characters can still act, but they need a much better plot, screenwriter, etc. I'd love to see Abrams get ahold of this series. Lucas hasn't done anything good since the Last Crusade. There are tons of undiscovered places that would be a good storyline. Atlantis of course, Jesus tomb, Alexanders tomb and or library, templar tresures, missing pyramids, etc.
Please no swinging through the jungle with monkeys or supersonic spped eating mutant ants or hocky dialogue that is based on conjuring nostalgic thoughts of past films!
I treat Crystal Skull the same way I treat the midi-chlorian explanation in Star Wars. I pretend it doesn't exist and no one would be that stupid to ruin a great franchise.
Let's pass the torch and start a new franchise. Indy out in a dramatic death and Mutt picks up the hat with a fancy name. The last flick and temple of doom missed a connection. The fantasy tied with reality/legend/history/religion made 1 and 3 interesting. A la..."The Da Vinci Code" book (movie was brutal). Need to bring it back home and make people think. Evolution vs religion/missing link? Noah's Arch? King David? Budda?
first get rid of Shia LaBeouf,
I was thought that Crystal Skull was a nice bookend to the series, and even saw Jones' snatching his hat from Jones Jr. as a "not passing the torch" moment. While a good script might be possible, who would the baddies be? Nazis are always safe but the storyline is in the 50's now, and "The Russians" or ethnic cultists probably won't play well nowadays in our PC world.
However, there are still plenty of arrogant idiots who would meddle with forces beyond their comprehension. I could see corporate raiders from the Military Industrial Complex (see Eisenhower's parting address) arrogantly pillaging Atlantean technology, or Nazi fugitives and the Spear of Destiny, greedy financial players playing with other people's money (oh, been done).
However, any future film would probably include Karen Allen and Shia LaBeouf. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it turns an "Indiana Jones" movie into a "Jones Family Adventure" which they've already done twice (and quite decently imo). But hey, Johnny Quest was family adventure. Throw in Secret Saturdays for my kid (okay, and me...). Family adventure might not be a bad thing (and heaven forfend if it is only PG).
While it might not be "Raiders", an Indy 5 doesn't have to suck.
I don't think there should have been any other movies except the Raiders of the Lost Ark. Every Indiana Jones movie since has been riddled with comedy relief and cheeseball storylines. Lucas and Spielburg have more than enough money to last 20 lifetimes, so why the need for another stupid movie? I think both directors have gone completely downhill, and rely on special effects and CGI to cover very poor storytelling and plotlines (ie: the Star Wars prequels; War of the Worlds). Just give it up already.
The Crystal Skull bit hard. Get back to the original formula that made the first 3 films successful; a good plot, lots of action, witty humor and a young sexy female co-star. All those elements were missing from the Crystal Skull.
I wouldn't mind another one, but Harrison Ford needs to hang it up, and Shia LaBeouf was awful!
1. Don't use the people who wrote Crystal Skull, which was horrid.
2. Stop pretending Harrison Ford is still in his 40s. Avoid the action/adventures scenes and create a story where Indy solves an historical mystery without kicking ass.
I would rather they do the 7th, 8th, and 9th movies in the Star Wars series than destroy Indy any more. Many people already have lost alot of love for the Star Wars franchise, but another 3 movies would give them a chance to make it back up. Indy needs to be laid to rest, so we can all remember what is good and right with that series.
How long has it been since Lucas produced a Good Movie? If Speilberg was smart, he'd stay away from this fading star.
This will sound like a joke, but they should consider Indy going to find the fountain of youth. It could make for a good mystery and address the fact that indy is aging beyond the point of being able to go on more adventures. If more are made, Shia should star and have Indy as a tag along the way that Connery was in the 3rd film. Phase him out and keep him in the franchise at the same time.
Get rid of the CGI. The CGI groundhogs made me vomit in my mouth a little and the aliens...it nuked the fridge and jumped the shark at the same time.
OK, as long as Harrison Ford doesn't take his shirt off. Actually, forgetaboutit – they have already jumped the shark with that last debacle.
Had to turn off the DVD in the middle of the last one. It was so bad, it made the Scooby Doo cartoon look like War and Peace.
I loved all of the Indiana Jones movies and I love Harrison Ford, but I think the last one left it open for his "son" Shia to take over as the new Indy! He's young, funny, great sense of humor and has the daredevil gene...Ford can make guest appearances as his mentor...we have to move over for the younger generation and this young man is great! They could be called "Indiana Jones Jr"....keep making them!!
Base the story on some middle east terrorist's finding and stealing the lost ark and Indy having to get it back. Please for the love of god no stupid side kicks!
Get J.J. Abrams involved along with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci writing the story. Then and ONLY then will another Indy movie have a hope in hell of being any good. Get back to a gritty story where Indy actually shoots someone. I don't like violence in movies but when Raiders came out no one scoffed at how many people got shot. Please don't Disney-fy the next movie and please, please don't let Lucas get involved in the script.
They -should- have done a movie version of the Fate of Atlantis game, but too late now.
No, no,no,no,no,no,no,no......nope,not at all, don't even think about it, stop righ tthere....go no further.
I said no. NO! NO! NO!!!
That's it Mr. Lucas, go to your room mister, your grounded
They shouldn't have even made a fourth movie, yet alone talk of a fifth movie. The third one ended with everyone riding off into the sunset. It should have stayed that way, but 'Crystal Skulls' ruined all that. It's just all about the money now and a bunch of Baby Boomer generation filmmakers not knowing when to quit and enough is enough.
Wow, I actually thought the 4th wasn't that bad. It was very entertaining and silly, just like the first three. I guess the story wasn't quite as good, but overall I think people are just much more critical of movies than they were 25 years ago. I understand if people think it wasn't as good as the first three, but to call it absolutely terrible is ridiculous. I'd like to see Indy go at it one more time, why would you not?
The 4th movie was SO disappointing ... I just don't have confidence that Lucas and Spielberg can come up with anything worth watching. I mean, good grief ... more money than God, plus Harrison Ford ... and they STILL screwed it completely up! What a mess.
To quote Kyle Brozlofski, "they raped him! We all stood by and they raped him, I can't live with myself, we HAVE to do something"
how was 4 any different than the previous 3. ghosts coming out of the ark? ripping out a man's heart? a 500 year old knight? there's always a certain amount of sci fi in the Jones movies. people who criticize 4 need to grow up and get over themselves.
I love Indy but the last film completely nuked the fridged! I'd love to see another one just so the franchise doesn't end on a bad note.
Indiana Jones and the Nursing Home of Doom
Of course it would be awesome to see the character again. People against it, or who think 4 was not like the first 3 need to understand what the purpose of the character was, and what he was supposed to mean. The first 3 took place in the 40s which was a time when young boys dreamed of adventure and war. By the 50s space had taken over as the fantasy of interest, as well as science fiction. The character, designed to be of the kind found in serials of old, would have adapted to meet the changing interests of the times. I would only fear a Jones set in the 60s, perhaps wearing tie dye and using LSD. Now THAT would suck!
while multiple sequils are never as good as the original, Crystal Skull was alot better then most of the other so called adventure movies put out today. I say go for it, maybe everything will fall into place and they'll hit another home run and shut all of the nay-sayers up!!!
The last Indian Jones movie was horrible. The first three were great. I think it's time to hang the whip up. Lucas is known for just making movies for money. The last three star war movies were horrible. I mean, he even went as far to make a cartoon movie for star wars. $$$$$$$ is all they care about. Spielberg and Lucas need to come up with a new idea. They are displaying themselves as moneymakers, not great film makers.
Ugh!!!!NOOOOOO....Indy 4 stunk to high heaven. Bad story- horrible CG and wooden feeling characters. Not in the least bit like the fisrt three FUN movies. Plus, Ford is too old for the part. It needs a reboot if they are to continue.
4th one was the worst! i slept thru the movie... How about finding "Noah's ark" storyline in the 5th???
As long as Shia Labeouf isn't in it... I would risk seeing it.
If there is a good script- why not!! I grew up loving the series, and now so do my kids. Long live Indiana Jones!!!
Heck yes! There's never too many Indy movies!
i hope not. the last one was soooo bad, and in my eyes, really tarnished the whole franchise(something that actually meant quite a lot to me). please allow us who love indiana jones to continue to do so without looking at the character and franchise as a joke(ala rocky).
People whining about how bad the fourth film was simply do not get that, just as the first three were homages to '30s era adventures (the time period in which they were all set), the fourth was an homage to '50s era sci-fi (the period in which it was set). Yes, it had cheesy moments - as did the first three. That's the point.
let em make another movie none of you have to watch it yah the last one wasnt as great as the others but the next one might be.
I'd like to see them reconsider working with writer Frank Darabont. I find it hard to believe that the "Crystal Skull" script was better than what he turned in.
I thought the last one set a bad tone from the beginning with the groundhogs.
If they do a 5th, I hope they'll take a more serious tone. Indy himself can be funny, but the circumstances should ring truer.
I love the idea. I thought the "come back" it was done very well considering Ford is in his 60's. Great story.
I think if the story line is "Biblically" driven like "Raiders" or "Last Crusade", it will be awesome.
I haven't seen Crystal Skull yet but haven't heard the greatest comments about it. I'd love to see another Indy movie, as long as it has the same quality as the original ones. Loved those!!!!
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Prunes
I loved Harrison Ford in the previous Indiana Jones movies but, he needs to hang up his whip. The story line in the 4th installment was weak and his age really showed. Maybe in the 5th installment he can hand the mantle/whip and hat over to Shia LaBeouf even though the late River Phoenix would have been excellent as a replacement for Harrison Ford. Let Harrison Ford play the father figure to Shia LaBeouf in upcoming installments. I thought the 3rd installment with Sean Connery was great.
I'd happily see another, but please, no more alien related plot lines.
GO INDY!!! And FAMILY!! How about "The Lost Dutchman Mine" or The Fountain of Youth with some Spanish gold"!!!!!! Or back to the beginning, how about all the "Treasure" Hitler stole in WWII?
While I like Harrison Ford, and loved most of the Indy films.... that last one was an obvious stretch..... and I'm afraid a 5th one will just be making a movie to make a movie...
Leave well enough alone.... Don't do what the Star Trek Franchise did
I'd like to see a return to genuine, realistic special effects, and not another load of the CGI dung that Lucas likes to churn out in his old age.
Please, no more. THe last one was sooooo bad. I just couldn't stand it.
I was underwhelmed by the last movie. It didn't possess the same kind of mystery and wonder that the earlier ones did.
I'd like to see Indy ride off into the sunset during the opening credits, followed by two hours of Lucas and Spielberg being horsewhipped for making such a lousy waste of celluloid as Crystal Skull.
as long as it's not another "crystal skull", it's a good idea. but, and i'm sorry for those (notice i didnt say 'to') who liked it, but it was rediculous. it could have been good. was a decent story but the movie overall... sucked. It was worse than IJ: ToD... no wonder sean connery said no to it. awful...
Give it up guys the last one was awful
I thought the fourth, most recent movie was very dissappointing, leaving me with little faith that a fifth one will be any better. At this point, I'd rather they didn't.
This is a joke....right? The only good thing that could possibly come out of a new Indiana Jones movie would be the South Park episode that spoofs it.
God no!!! For the love of all that is righteous and good! Lucas and Speilberg made Indy 4 into a giant cheesy roasted turkey. Whereas the previous films were far fetched nonsense at least the stunts looked real and not some obviously CGI enhanced fakeness. Nuked the fridge indeed.
I'd rather be reserved with the memory of "Raiders of the Lost Ark" if the movie is going to be as bad and as the last one. Seriously Spielberg, Lucas what where you thinking?
Harrison Ford is about 100 years old. How about Indianna Jones and the Temple of Geriatrics.
I realize that Lucas Arts mints there own money at this point, but honestly I hope they don't make another movie if it's as trashy as Indy 4 was.
If they can get a story that is epic and actually worthwhile and engaging, it will be a fun movie. If they create another cg graphic orgy overtop of a lame storyline it will be another dissapointment.
It felt like they were competing with the Mummy franchise rather than making an Indy movie. Indy > Mummy
