It doesn't matter that the actors were black or white–it matters that those remakes were just plain BAD. They would have sucked with white actors, just like the Flintstones movies. Some things should have been left alone. That Honeymooners movie with Cedric the Entertainer and Mike Woods..terrible. Using white actors would not have been any better. (Maybe worse–with black actors, the studio can claim they were going for a "modernized" version.) What is the Honeymooners without Jackie Gleason and Art Carney?
P.S. I doubt Will Smith will be playing Daniel-san. Maybe Mr. Miyagi. LOL. Most likely he will not be in the film.
Of course they will. That's pretty much all they do now, remakes. When was the last time they hhad a fresh idea? Even if it is new (rarely) it's the typical car chase, shoot e'm up, or again stereo typical
love story. You can recite both formats before you even hit the theater.
It amazes me that brilliant Indy, and foriegn films are never acknowledged. But then, how will they make "stars"
Well if this goes the way of the last few remakes of hugely popular series/movies where in the first run the main characters were white, in the remake they are black characters, they will to bomb: (*Wild Wild West) what a joke that movie was, (Flubber) I mean, I agree with equality and all that, but when you change the whole characters race just to make a point the movie(s) flop big time!
Just leave the originals alone already!!
I love Will Smith- but we d0 not need a Karate Kid remake. He could do so much better. And so could his kid.
