Jon and Kate under investigation!

Fans aren’t the only ones concerned about all of the cameras following the Gosselin children around on Jon & Kate Plus Eight.  The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry is checking to make sure that there aren't any laws being broken!  While viewers seem to think that it might be time to give the kids some privacy- especially while Jon and Kate work out their marital woes, the Department of Labor is concerned about the children's safety.

Troy Thompson, Spokesman for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry told me that after receiving a complaint an investigation has now been opened into whether any child labor laws are being broken.

In a statement to Showbiz Tonight, a TLC Spokeswoman says,

“TLC fully complies with all applicable laws and regulations.  Jon and Kate + 8 is no exception.  For an extended period of time, we have been engaged in cooperative discussions and supplied all requested information to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor.  We will continue to engage the appropriate officials and meet any standards or regulations that are applicable to TLC productions.”

We will have much more on this developing story tonight on Showbiz Tonight at 11pm Eastern and Pacific on HLN.

With all the things going on in the world is this the most news worthy thing we can talk about? its sad yes but there are far more pressing issues in the world than another famous couple spliting up.

When the got hair transplants, belly tucks and every thing for free. It was the the end for me. The only thing left is that all the children get free colledge and plastic surgery for the rest of their lives.

Kate has her faults and is getting slammed about them. But what about Jon? Aside from his cheating, doesn't anybody wonder about his work history? His work history has been really spotty. Why hasn't he gotten a job? He is immature and has never been a focused person. If he felt so stifled by the show, why didn't he go out and get a job? When they had the sextuplets, he was out of work, having been fired for lousy performance. This show saved them financially. Why criticze Kate for being so gung ho about this show? How else would they be able to support their family? Every parent wants the best for their children; providing for the future of the 8 kids is no joke. As a provider, Jon hasn't stepped up to the plate. So what if Kate enjoys making public appearances? She is doing what she can to secure her children's futures. Kate has to have balls because Jon doesn't have any.

On another note, I can't believe he is still talking about being a good Christian when he has been cheating! She is better off without him. Unfortunately, the kids will suffer from collateral damage.

Instead of focusing on Jon and Kate something needs to be done about 17 and counting. This couple continues to have children, this is not good for this woman's health to just continue to have kids like that and no one is saying anything about it.

Gee, what do folks do in PA? Wreck young families? This relentless attack needs to stop. Where is the concern for children working in sweatshops run by American industries in the present "global economy?" Where is the outrage of all those so indignant because these kids eat, sleep, play, etc. while cameras roll who are continuing to purchase products made in such horrible places around the world. No reality show can ever touch such cluelessness when it comes to choosing real issues to investigate.

They exploit their kids, their lives, their marriage. This kind of trouble is the price you pay for being a celebrity. Privacy does not exist, and problems, rumors, and tons of tears at night are the cost of all that money and attention. And personally, I don't feel sorry for the parents. Only the kids. There is no way they are going to grow up to be balanced individuals in any way. The blonde woman is too rude, strict and horrible to her husband, and the husband is too uninterested in the marriage to even care anymore. The kids suffer here. But I guess this is what America thrives on...bad news.

Has this country lost its mind? Has no one here a life to live that we all watch brain dead 'reality' shows, of which 99% are scripted anyway?

Pathetic! And the rest of the media does not question this is any way, cause, guess what, most are owned by companies producing this garbage!

I for one am ashamed of how we let the media intrude in the personal lives of Celebrities and Semi-Celebrities. I have stopped buying People, Us, and all other magazines where people's personal lives and problems are used to make a sale. Surely we should know by now that less than 50% of what they print is true. Haven't we seen the lawsuits that have been won by celebrities against the major media outlets? How would we feel if we walked out of our offices at the end of the day and had people jumping out of bushes, trash cans, all to get that end of the day exhausted picture of us that could be slashed on the cover to show how we’re letting ourselves go? Or have your children hounded by strangers with cameras? Celebrities are here for our entertainment…But it shouldn’t go further than what they portray on the big or small screen. I truly hope that Jon and Kate's have what it takes to tell the media to take a hike and save their relationship. If they do go there separate ways then shame on all of us who buy the stupid stories in the first place.

Jon didn't want to do the show anymore. First he "got caught" out with annother woman, though what kind of moron wouldn't have seen the results of that actio. Kate then continued the show. Now there's been an "anonymous" complaint to the state. Hey Jon, if you don't want to do the show, quit! I can't imagine nobody else sees this as clearly as I do. This is a case of Jon finally getting one over on Kate!

I am reading all of these posts about "leaving these people alone". Nobody put a gun to their head to be on this show to begin with. They certainly didn't mind cashing the checks or accepting the perks. Did any of you feel sorry for Britney when the paps were chasing her around? What about Lindsay Lohan?

Jon and Kate signed up for this, and now it is their responsibility to make sure the safety of their children is being sustained. If it isn't, then they have to deal with the consequences.

I'm shocked there are few negative comments about how Jon and Kate brough all of this on themselves.

If you want Real Time magazine, do real time. Jon and Kate are having many problems in thier marriage with 8 children toboot! I cannot get more real than this in regards to marriage. Kate too much with children, hands full, with Joh still working. He needs to llisten and be involved. My point, it is reality right, and men and women not being monogomous is not different to everyday lifes of all marriage people, what makes this situation so different, to me it is a non-storu!

    Thank you!

Pull the show already... Enough with ratings and making money. These poor kids are going to suffer the rest of their lives. These shows should never be put on tv, all they do is exploit the children. It sickens me what people will do to make a buck.. Just like the other idiot now, just read that the dumb ass octomom signed to have a show too. More innocent children that are going to be exploited just so this pig can make a buck... Her kids should be taken away from her.

I have been watching the show for the past couple of years – the children appear healthy and happy to me – Jon and Kate are having their problems – this is for them to work out not the media. The relatives who were interviewed haven't been involved in the show for awhile and are probably mad they are not benefitting from the show – why is it a problem now and not when they were involved. Looks like a good decision was made to no longer have them on. I don't think they have the best interests of the children at heart.

I like most on here think that Jon & Kate should be left alone to work their problems out, just because they are on tv doesn't mean every aspect of their lives is our business, don't we all have parts of our lives that our family and friends don't need to be involved in because its private, I think same goes for anyone in the public eye. They still have a right to a certain degree of privacy. If they aren't bombarded every moment about their marital problems maybe they can work them out! I enjoy the show, and as a mother of twins who raised them alone, I know how expensive it is to raise two much less eight so they are doing what they can to raise their children and provide for them, and the children are doing things they probably wouldn't have been able to if it weren't for the show. Makes me kinda jealous, therefore it makes me think the family members that are running their mouths might be jealous and trying to get their 15 mins of fame since obviously their not getting off of Jon & Kate plus 8 anymore, they didn't seem so concerned when they were on the show.

Kate's brother and sister-in law claim the children are being exploited and don't want the camera's following them on vacations and all other special outings, well all I have to say is that when they sat for the children they were very small and didn't know better so the only one that would have complained is Maddie. She is a brat and needs to be disciplined. Also, Lisa Bloom commented that these children will only remember he cameras following them and that vacations and outing were for ratings....well, Lisa, ask someone who was brought up in a large family what their memories are. You'll find that they don't have any. These children have been priveleged and done things other children only dream of but never get to do. The Goslin children will have wonderful memories of their child hood. Leave them alone and let them do their thing.

TLC needs to send slacker jon out away from the home so the childlren will not expect him to be there and then watch him leave. Kate needs to file for divorce..give him a few bucks, and he can get his beer and his sports car and go play with the underage tricks. He hates physically caring for his children while Kate does all the work to try to have security for the children's education funds and everyday needs. Go Kate....Hang In There !! I watch every episode and will continue to watch til the end and so do all my friends and my mom as well. I hope you are there with your children forever. Thank you for your hard work to provide for those precious little ones.....These hate emails are people who are jealous of your success as a darn good mom and of course, of the success of the show as well.

I watch this show and will continue to watch. Jon and Kate may be having marital problems right now, but their kids have always been loved and well cared for. I think the sister-in-law is the one trying to stir up this particular issue. She wasnt doing much complaining when she was a feature of their show. It was only after it was decided that she would not be a PAID participant that she decided the kids were being exploited and took to the blogs and You Tube with her allegations. I guess they have found a way to earn some money off the Gosselin family afterall from all of the interviews they are giving now. Shame on her and Kate's brother for this ultimate in family betrayal.

If you get a paycheck then you're working. There should have been labor laws from the start. These kids must think cameras are the norm. Only they have to live in a fish bowl so stupid people have something to watch on the Telly. Only the tragedy vampires will be screaming for this show to keep going. Let's watch these kids go through a horrible time in their lives. If that isn't abuse........
Their college tuitions are paid by now. Or that was donated too. I'm glad the people involved are under investigation. It's about time. I appreciate the brother and sister in law coming forward as well. They should question every person that has ever been "employed" by that horrible woman Kate. She can't boss Jon around if he's not around anymore. Finally Jon, you grew some. I say investigate and cancel this train wreck of a "reality" show.

ok now i understand why this is a hot topic i mean this show is popular but like they have a family and if i were Kate yea probably me and my husband would have a bit of a problem with each other but then on top of it they have poperozy* hanging around their houses trying to get the lastest. Its terrible they are a struggling couple. But on todays issue they talked about how the children are acting, no i really dont think children under the ages of 7 would want to go and act in front of a camra rather then spend time with their brothers and sisters. Yea maybe they might act different if they are hurt they might want more attention but its only those little things heck i no that some kids when they want more attention that they will cry more while not even being on t.v. Yes it will have an impact on the kids and through their life time but if the show were to be canceled i dont think that they would care. They are kids...i dont think they are child actors!

Also on a different level i dont think that when Jon and Kate signed up for this show that they would think that there would be so many veiwers or that it would be so popular to have this kind of effect it has on then and their children. You might be thinking a adult is writting this but i am after all only 2 years old. This is what i think . If i were on a t.v show no i would not act in front of the camra i would be naturally me. why would i be different? Does anyone think the same thing?

Why is everybody so concern NOW ! I have been watching Jon and Kate for awhile now and never have I heard anything about anyone being "CONCERNED" about the children before problems arose between Jon and Kate. The media is only looking at selling a story. None of them CARE about this family really. IT IS ALL ABOUT RATINGS !!
And the brother and sister-in-law has never complained before, they have been on the show too. Maybe their problem is wantingto be on the show more (for the pay). How they can turn on their own family is beyond me. They should be standing by them and help work out their problems.

The show is good, the family entertaining. All families have problems, its just that most don't appear on TV. Leave them alone. Raising a family in the way our society has comes to expect is really expensive, even for an average family with 1 or 2 kids. Imaging having 8. That's a lot of food, clothing, toys, books, vehicles, college tuition. Not to mention music lessons, swim lessons, boy scouts, whatever you do costs money. Imagine having 6 kids start at the same time? How do you make enough money. You need a bigger house because you just have more people. They need to make a living, this is the way their chose to make or supplement their incomes, and a lot of that has to do with that life is expensive.
Leave them to work out their problems. They have issues most people can't even being to imagine. Nobody follows the average person around the grocery store or stalks their house. Did they invite the fame? Maybe, they saw an opportunity to make their lives better and took it. Most people would. Did they invite the intense scrutiny into their lives – never! Leave them alone. They all seem like really nice people. They are real, and so are the 8 lovely kids, and they deserve a chance to have their lives back, be it in front of the cameras or their private lives. Their children are loved and well cared for and it really shows.

About time. The State of Pennsylvania should have been involved with child labor laws from the beginning of this show as well as the other states where filming involves minor children in their homes.
Families with this many children have been raising them for years without subjecting them to the world media.
If they are going to have them on television, have their financial interests, schooling, and emotional well being looked after by someone other than the parents.

To be fair Noreen most of the children who are apart of reality shows their parents are the focus, and their camera time is limited. Jon & Kate however feature their children as the reason for the show, so I do understand the concern. I use to watch the show, but I always thought it was strange that you hardly saw any family ( not even a phone call) besides her brother and sister in law, and then they disappeared. As a matter of fact everyone close disappeared, I think they need a reality check. The show has hit a pinnacle, and the kids need a break to just be kids, we can check them out when they are in the 5th grade or high school.

If the parents are having marital problems, stop all the tabloid publicity and let them work it out. I hope and pray they do work it out and stay together as a family, however, they both love the children. Where was the Pennslyvania dept of labour when all was going well in the family? Her brother and his wife, well they are at odds with the family at this point, so keep the comments to themselves. Is Kate bossy, yes, is Jon immature, yes, one of the twins is terribly whiney, I think we are looking like a realy family.

Sounds like someone wants to rain on the parade. Maybe the in-laws are unhappy and this is payback. Jon and Kate seem to be doing very well with their children. The program does allow the parents to help the kids experience more and enjoy a wider range of life. The governmant does not need to step in and help with something that is working just fine...and has been for a long time.

I agree that the claims are ridiculous. Reality television "gives the viewers what they want". Just because these people have slipped out of line in what we expect to be their agenda, doesn't mean we now have the right to berate, chastize, even destroy them! The television viewing public needs to decide what exactly it is they want from "reality television"; ie., real life is as messy as it is beautiful. Then, do some math, people!
#1= you have a marred couple, with all of the normal stress involved in keeping a marriage healthy and balanced.
+ #2= You have an interracial couple, which, despite our advances in acceptance in our society, we still have a long way to go,
+ # 3= They have EIGHT CHILDREN!!!! For the love of God, EIGHT CHILDREN!!!
+ #4= They are both still quite young-isn't the husband only 31?! I'm sorry, but these days, men are hardly fit to marry before the age of 35. We can all argue about the biological/historical propensity to marry as young as 12-16, but that doesn't fly these days. Blame whatever/whomever you want regarding this evolutionary response...
+#5= With their lives recorded whenever convenient, there are bound to be some incovenient moments.
= SO MUCH on the plate of these individuals. Do you watch the show to learn? To judge? To empathize?! I mean, could you EVEN IMAGINE what it would be like, to put yourself and your family out there for what seemed an innocent form of voyeurism on the part of family-focused television viewers, but That same audience has reared it's ugly head as a hurtful, hateful, selfish, petty viewing vampire of an audience? Will anything short of watching this family eat each other alive appease you jerks?
If you are simply tired of them, change the channel. Let their show die the old-fashioned way; you are no longer interested.
Could you imagine your OWN FAMILY revealing secrets and speculations as fact just to make a buck? No wonder they have had their own reality series, and are falling apart before our very eyes. They have crazy cruel families.
"Because sometimes the only way you can feel good about yourself is by making someone else look bad. And I'm tired of making other people feel good about themselves." –Homer Simpson

Why don't they go after the family with the reality show on TLC that have 18 kids? They made their kids build their house. Like Gloria Alred filed some thing to see to it that "Octomom's" kids each have a fund set up for their futures from any monies she acquires from a reality show.

Have the Gosselin's done that? I don't know that the kids are "working" per say, BUT they certainly should have thier college paid for, AND a lot more.

For the record, I cannot stand Kate. I have watched J&K+8 since the beginninng. Not because I'm a fan, per say, but I am now disabled and watch a lot of TV, much to my dismay. She is the nastiest woman and MEAN MEAN MEAN to her husband.

I hear she's "written" a cook book. HER???? Give me a break! And parenting skills..... NOT! I don't wish 8 kids (6 all the same age) on anyone.... what a nightmareish Godsend, but having founded and run a housing program for homeless 18-21 yr single moms, I can tell you with experience Kate is FAR FROM a great mom.

NOW we find out she was gone to 50 appearances last year, when the heck is she home anyway. Why isn't she taking one or two of the kids with her on these excursions. Probably because she IS screwing around with the bodyguard.

There are other realty shows on TLC that have little children on them. ex; 17 and counting. I think just because Jon and Kate are having marital problems (as the media says) they will work thru them. The children have to be used of the cameras. They were all little when this series started. I think it is a good family show to watch with your children or grandchildren. I do not think that Kate's brother & sister-in-law should be voicing their opinion. These children are Jon and Kate's. I do not think the brother is in their home all the time to see what actually does go on. Maybe a little jealousy on the brother's part.
