Top 2: Kris Allen brings some 'Sunshine'

I want one of those coupons Kris' mom redeems to get him to sing for her!

Kris Allen

Kris is on the piano singing "Ain't No Sunshine," and once again I am grateful the show now allows contestants to play instruments. I feel like I am watching a great concert.

His wife is in the audience looking so pretty and proud, and she should be.

He sounds great. Simon should be applauded for being honest that he initially wasn't sure America had made the right choice in putting him in the finals and taking that back.

Simon even awards the first round to Kris. Do you agree?

Top 2: Adam Lambert takes it back

Adam's dad says he didn't sleep through the night as a baby and he screamed a lot.

Adam Lambert

He chooses  "Mad World" as his favorite performance, and we have a do-over. I am a little afraid of that Matrix trench coat he is wearing, but it works with the guy-liner and the fog.

I liked the performance, though it didn't move me as much this time around. Probably because I've watched the original so much.

Way to suck up to Paula by telling her she looks beautiful tonight, Adam. Of course the judges have to break off into an argument as to whether he was more "Phantom of the Opera" or "Twilight" with the look.

Top 2: I just live for Seacrest's intros

The "guy next door versus the guy-liner?"

So clever Ryan.

Kris looks like a munchkin next to Adam, but since Kris won the coin toss, he chooses to go second.

Very smart.

All of the judges look so nice tonight. Very relaxed.

Kris and Adam will sing three songs: their favorite performance from the season, a song show creator Simon Fuller chooses and the winner's single co-written by Kara.

I pray she is a better song writer than she has been a judge.

I second Ryan's emotion to set your recorders tomorrow for the show to go long. Remember last year when some folks saw and heard "And the American Idol is David" then the DVRs cut out? Tragic!!

Top 2: It's on!

Two men. One title. Who will be the next "American Idol?"

I love that the show started with a flashback. Adam and Kris both look so cheesy and cute in their first audition.

With about a million votes separating them last week, I anticipate that the race may be tighter than earlier suspected.

Let's go!

Brooke Shields calls reporter's actions "reprehensible and disgusting"

Brooke Shields is threatening legal action against a reporter who checked her mother, who suffers from dementia, out of an assisted living facility in New Jersey.

Shields claims a tabloid reporter checked her mother, Teri, out of the facility under false pretenses to get a story.

The National Enquirer claims that the freelance reporter has known Teri for ten years, and they are friends.

We spoke with the Old Tappan Police Department, and they told me that while the investigation is ongoing, they are leaning towards not charging the reporter with a crime.
