Top 5: One less in the pack now

** SPOILER ALERT: Wednesday night’s blog will eventually reveal the contestant leaving the show. Do not visit the final entry of the blog if you do not want to know the results. **

So was the save wasted?

Matt is over and out. I'm more shocked that the show ended on time than I am that Mr. Giraud is heading home.

Were you surprised? Do you think Matt is destined for a big career? Did you really think Adam might go home?

We want to hear from you. Post your comments below or head over to iReport to submit videos of your reaction.

Adam Lambert isn't everybody's dream performer.
He's very polished but after the first 8 songs he's a little predictable. Yes he'll perform a song off the expected route but it's not often a "new" take on any song. Each song somes off in a very similar vein as his last. Put a coin in and you get the same kind of performance each time, I don't see his assault on a song as connecting with the audience or displaying actual emotion. He's Barnum.

I actually think Adam has better vocals than Elvis! Elvis didn't have the range Adam has. Adam can sing anything. Elvis, I believe, could not.

This is a very crazy Season, so say the least

I was a little disappomited to not see Adam leave i think he is over rated for sure

He would make a great broadway singer, but he's not a recording artist and people should stop acting so surprised when he makes the bottom 3, there are better singers in this competion

Keep voting America, but espically for Alison

I dont get why everyone thinks Adam is so great so I wasnt surprised that he was in the bottom 3. I was relieved with my fingers crossed praying that he would be the one to go. I would not call all his shreiking talent by any means. Idol has also been a venue to launch careers of people with something different. Adam is another David Cooke and the last time I checked Idol was not about launching the career of the next rocker. It seems to me if the show is rigged then it has been rigged from the start for Adam to win. It is pointless to waste your time voting if everyone's fate has already been decided by the producers.

For all the folks comparing Adam to Elvis – you really need to have your heads examined. Elvis had more talent in his pinky than Adam will ever have. Elvis fused R&B and gospel to help create rock-n-roll. Elvis had a career that spanned 3 decades and to this day is still referred to as "The King". Elvis influenced countless musicians from all generations. His influence is still felt today. There will never be another Elvis.

And another thing, you never saw Elvis trading spit with another guy.

Why does everyone think that AI is rigged? That is so weak. THE people are voting. ARE you voting? And the fans of the ones who have already been voted off...they are NOW voting for someone else. Hmmmm...

AND IF... you read all the comments from this blog there is a LARGE group of people who DONT like ADAM. They put him in the bottom three..and to keep drama high AI let Adam stay behind with Matt. The people voting put him in the bottom three. I can easily believe that. He IS talented but his screech is annoying. Any other comments or news about him being gay or anything else...I could care less. His talent is what I am watching for. He is multitalented and will probably make it in music, drama, and movies. I, for one, will NOT be buying his CD's tho'.

Kris is quirky but has a smooth voice and IF he is writing songs too then he is talented. Danny sounded better last night than he has for the past few weeks. I would compare him more to Eric Clapton than to Michael Bolton. I WOULD buy his CD's.

It was time for Matt to go..and IF Adam does NOT win it won't surprise me.

Once the judges are out of the picture and America takes over the decision making... it is OUR votes that cause what happens. AND you can see enough bickering and differing opinions in this blog to make it clear ANYTHING could happen. Just because YOU LOVE one person in particular to win does not make THAT the person that ALL of America will choose.

Adam was really in the bottom two because we have to consider that AI voters are NOT musicians and wouldn't know a really good singer from a so-so one. You have to be musically adept to hear that Adam hits about 98% of his notes accurately while the rest are somewhere in the 85%. In short, musicians know that Adam is way way ahead so far as singing is concerned. AI voters are guided by "other factors".

There's no comparison; Adam deserves to walk away with the title. If he doesn't, it will be a shame. I was not a fan of his at the beginning of the season, but slowly had to admit that he is the best. I was a Danny fan, but think he cannot begin to compare to Adam, even though I do like Danny a lot too. Like Randy said, this is a singing competition, and Adam is the best singer.

Come on, I haven't even been watching the show and know the save wasn't wasted, it just didn't matter much, as according to the rules the save cannot be used once they get down to the top 4. So the results would have been the same at this point anyway, and there would have been no future save option.

I felt that it was time for Matt to leave the show, and I admit, I would have been happier had Adam left. I agree he has a great voice, but his theatrics, screaming and sameness have gotten to me. I originally liked him a lot, but he has begun to sound like a broken record; nothing new. Adam is one of those performers you either are head over heels for or can't stand. I don't know whether he will win or not, but I think he needed a little humility to let him know he could get kicked off. He is a pro and that gives him an edge over the others left in the top 4.

Can't believe people are seriously caliing conspiracy theories about this. So he was in the bottom 2? Is that so shocking? He's not immortal and without flaws. Personally I think he's a one trick pony and should have gone weeks ago. I can't imagine anyone buying a record from him with each song, whether its a ballad, a rock tune, or a pop tune, having that dreaded screech in it. Unfortunately he's only got that screech in his arsenal and I was hoping america would see that sooner.

Unlike everyone else, If he was to actually win, that would cause me to stop watching and just prove that looks win out over talent in a public vote.

Love Matt. I only started watching when they hit the big stage and he had me at Human Nature. I don't recall thinking he was like Justin Timberlake. I think he has the best all around talent, even if he had a couple of shaky performances. I don't play piano, but I have great respect for anyone who can play like that... So glad the judges saved him. His last two performances sent him off on a high note.

For the person who asked where Elliott Yamin is now, he has an album out next week!

The Adam Lambert Show! This kind of talent only comes along once in awhile. Yes he may be over the top but when you've got it, flaunt it. It didn't hurt Freddy Mercury, Elton John, etc. And yes, I saw Elton in his first U.S. tour in the late 60s and nobody would believe what that now pudgy ole dude could do on stage including complete audience control, acrobatics on the piano, bringing you to your feet then sitting you down. My hats off to Adam, don't care what his lifestyle is. MY LAST COMMENT: Am I the only on who thinks Danny Gokey looks like Robert Downey Jr.? A younger version perhaps.

I just love how some people are so ready for conspiracy theories. Can't Adam's fans admit that there are actually people who don't like him, that others might like other competitors more than Adam? Reading comments on blogs, that shouldn't be surprising anymore.

Liking someone is a very personal experience/opionion. Aren't other people allowed to have other preferences? I thought this was a free country?

I myself am tired of Adam's performances. Yes, he can sing, yes, he's a great performer, but like someone said, he seems to be a one-trick-pony. I'm also tired of his schreeching. Theater stage would be his best suit. Well, he already is a pro in that area.

And I don't know how reliable the results are as a general opinion, when you can give someone 100 votes from one phone... The fanbase, who gets the most messages in within the 2-hour period decides who wins. Not who America actually considers to be the best.

Gokey is nothing more than Taylor Hicks. I firmly believe in a short time away from the Idol stage, he will be forgotton by the masses...he is boring, weird, and admitted to copying someone's singing style and if I was Allison, I would get a restraining order with Gokey's name all over it... the still frames of Gokey handling Allison while smearing her with cake, etc. seem wrong ..isn't she underage?? Yeah, Gokey...you must pay the $6000 bill from A.I. ... dopey gokey.

Adam was robbed only because his fan base thought he was safe and were voting for 2nd place.... VOTE FOR 1ST PLACE ONLY!!

Adam should have gone home. He screams like a woman and kisses boys. How is that even close to being an American Idol. Kris should have been gone. All I hear people talk about is how the girls like how he looks. Again this is a singing competition. Kris is cookie cutter and average. have you every seen him sing an upbeat song?

Matt should have placed third place behind Danny and Allison.

I am not sure what type of agenda the judges have. But they put Adam as the bottom 2 so his voters would come out next week and support him and the show.

(Deep breath) Once more with feeling, Adam Lambert sticks out his tongue to help him reach the high notes. It is a vocal technique and very difficult to master. Love or hate him, as you so choose, most of his fans begrude you not. As for me, personally, this is thee first time I have ever bothered to watch American Idol. Matt needed to go a long time ago. He should not have been saved. Seems like a nice guy, but went off-key every time he sang. Adam was in the Top 3, not the bottom 3. The show did that for Drama. It's always been the bottom 2 when it gets down to 5 people. Not last night. They had to make it the bottom 3 so Adam would be in there and then send Kris to safety before Adam (never using the term "bottom 2" it was always "bottom 3") - all for the drama. Also the number of votes between them was never disclosed as it has been in the past when it's close.

I am not an expert on singing, but Allison sounds very off to me, my fiance says the term is 'hoarse'. She does not like that style either.

Danny improved in his stage presence.

My favourite is Adam, I find his singing very precise and controlled, has a uniqueness to his voice that the others lack and his stage presence is way ahaed of the others. The result is an excellent performance.

Regarding his pick which group he would join (Ryan's stupid stunt): I think he picked the group with Allison assuming that is the weaker one. Whichever group he joins is the one with 3 people in it so it was obvious that he is in the bottom three. I beleive he thought Allison was the weakest contestant (based on voice quality) so he picked that group.

Allison may make it to the top 2, but not with her voice or stage presence (her dress made her look fat this week, bad-bad wardrobe choice); but rather with the support of a demographic/gender group I do not want to name. I wish not to make anyone feel bad because they vote by groupthink, they have the right to do that. In fact I actually think Allison could be really great when her voice grows out of that hoarseness.

This has been a fun year for all of us. AI had become a bore since the Taylor Hicks debacle. That's when I lost interest in the show and rarely watched it afterward. This year has been different, these kids have talent.

This kid, Adam, has a voice that is clearly head and shoulders above the rest. You don't think so?..then try and mimic his signature howl yourself. I tried it in the shower and ended up coughing for 43 minutes.

It is too bad Adam didn't get sent off. I won't deny that he has talent, but he is WAY too dramatic, the look he gives when singing is borderline stalker style (and he looks like a fool), and he must find a way to SCREAM in every song with that high pitched, broadway, tongue flailing maneuver. An Allison/Danny final is ideal for idol.

Is clear Adam Lambert is the most talented contestants "American Idol" has ever had in the show's eight season run. I think many of the viewers are casting their votes based on sympathy rather than talent. Adam's vocal range and capabilities exceeds everyones expectations with every performance he brings on stage, truly spectacular. He well deserves to win this competiton for he truly is an american idol.

When you watch an episode of Idol, it's like you watch the contestants perform, then when Adam comes out, you are watching the Adam Lambert show. His is so far above the other performers, there's no comparison. He's in a league of his own. Amazingly talented. His Idol downloads are incredible, especially the one from this week – "Feeling Good". Whether he wins or not, he will be successful, and I cannot wait to buy his CD.
Allison is really good, but she sounds too much like Kelly Clarkson and Pink put together; she has no originality. Danny is pretty good, but always sounds the same to me. Kris has a nice voice, but I cannot stand to watch him – he does too many weird things with his mouth that just creeps me out. Matt was okay, but I honestly don't see how he even made it as far as he did. No surprise to me that he went this week.

Inevitably, someone has to go home until the winner is chosen. When you have five amazing talents, it is hard to choose who that person is to be. Matt is amazing, but so are the other four. I think that all five of them will have phenomenal careers. As the judges said, they wished it could be a five-way tie; however, there can only be one American Idol per se. As far as I am concerned, they have all proven to American Idols! Good luck to the next four. It will be a fight to the end. Everyone needs to be on their toes from here on out!!

He is obviouslly going to be the winner, but the producers want us to think there is a chance he could loose. Anoop should still be here. I love Matt, and I think he can have a great career if he surrounds himself with the right people. If Kara and Randy keep their word and help him out with some good songs and production, I think he could be great.

If he is one of those people who says, "I'm going to make my music MY way..." then he could end up being short-lived, sort of like Ace Young....

I, too, am sick of Adam's screaming. He's talented, but... I wouldn't buy his records. Matt.... I would buy HIS records for sure.

Anyone (especially the Adam haters) who thought that he was going home last night was delusional. It was another in a long line of AI stunts designed to manufacture "drama." There has never been a contestant on the show who insprires so much love/admiration/awe or "hate" (fear in some cases) like Adam. IMO, Adam was likely the third highest vote getter last night and with five contestants remaining, Idol could have easily gone with a bottom two as it has in other years. Instead they chose to create a "bottom three" scenario with Adam – and to top it off – tell Kris that he was safe before Adam. Watch the playback – Ryan did not say that Adam and Matt were the bottom two vote getters – only that one of them was going home.

I also don't fault Adam for choosing a group BASED on the overall judges feedback from Tuesday night. It's so silly to sit down in the middle of the floor. He's 27 years old – not 17 like Archie or one of the others.

I'm thrilled that we are one step closer to an Adam, Allision and Kris top 3. Each of them are unique talents in their own right and with rock week, I predict Adam and Allision will knock it out of the park. Kris needs to pick a great song and find amp us the "swagger" that works with his laid back singer-songwriter style. It's possible. I hope we say good-bye to Gokey.

All I want to say is that Adam Lambert is the next Evis. He is so talanted and so good looking. His smile, his beautiful teeth, the way he walks, he is just an idol already. If he does not win it will not matter. He is going to be a big star.

I am from the Sixties and Adam reminds me of Elvis Presley not only in looks, but in his outrageous, flashy performances which contrast with his (seemlingy) sweet, shy personality in person. I thought it from the beginning but have never heard anyone else make the comparison. I LOVE him (AND Elvis....) !!

Adam Lambert is incredibly talented, gifted in fact. He is a mesmerizing performer with technically expert vocals and a stage presence that can't be beat. I can only say that having experience with the music industry myself, many of the commentators who dislike Adam are completely clueless. Adam is akin to Elvis, David Bowie, Jim Morrison, Mick Jagger, many of the top performers because of his presence, his talent and allure. Wait and see. I just think AI made a huge mistake and were rude putting him in the untenable position of having to "choose sides" and by putting him in a group of "bottom three" where he clearly does not belong. It negated so many of the good vibes that Adam has given the country in its current status of economic and societal woe. He is a breath of fresh air and dynamic.

I was not surprised that Matt went home. He is the least charismatic and talented of the five who remained. That is not to say that he is not talented. It is just that this years final five are exceptional in every way. I WAS surprised that Adam was in the bottom two and I don't know that I necessarily believe he received less votes than Chris did.

All of the remaining four are truly gifted artists. Each and every one of them is worthy of winning. Each of them has had glorious moments. They are all on the edge of something very big and very life changing. At this point , though, I would think that Chris might go next.

I do see the final three being Danny, Adam and Allison. After that I think it is a toss up whether you lose Danny or Allison. I see Adam going all the way. But....however it turns out, I am not going to be disappointed.....although, if Adam is not in the final three I will be greatly disappointed.

Adam will make a wonderful theatrical performer but he is not the American Idol. I wish that he would have gone home last night so the focus would be off of him and on the rest of the talented singers. I for one am sick of hearing him scream every lyric. I don't believe that we have ever really seen Adam; we have seen characters that Adam plays each week, as any good actor would. But if I were alone with my I-Pod his voice is not the one that I want in my ears. I would listen to Kris any day, all day.

Not surprised to see Adam in the bottom two- espcially if you read all these comments. I personally think he is the most talented singer thats been on the show in the last few seasons, but he is not for the closed minded. Adam is definitely "California creative- south of Market Street" genre- but oh my gosh- what a voice. His song choice was not a song as familar as the others sang- and the last time he did that (with the sitar number) he was in trouble with votes. I hope he pulls it off with some mainstream song choices (listen to the tip from Taylor Hicks, Adam). He could win the whole show if he just belts out heart rendering ballads that show off his multi-octave range. I honestly think Allison could make it to the finals if she showed up next week as a brunette and looked like the kid in the church choir.

The following have been my final 4 since about week 10 (easy to say now). Here's my take on the next 3 weeks:

Allison needs to get rid of the braces. They are screwing up her word pronouncement. She also is a bit of a one trick pony. Every song has a hold note with rasp in it where she bends it down. Good singer but she's home next week. (prediction #4).

Adam is technically the best singer but has the most annoying of voices. Every time I watch I feel as though I am listening to some hair metal band from the 80s. Seriously do you want to hear screaming on your radio all day? (prediction #3)

Danny sounds too much like Michael Bolten. Technically a good singer, but who really wants to listen to a guy with poor taste in music sing like Michael Bolton? (prediction #2)

Kris is the one to win. He has the best sounding voice – i.e., the one I would not get tired of listening to. I am still waiting for him to sing an Enrique Iglesias song. Unlike his counterpart who does self-indulgent arrangements, Kris's arrangements are creative, pleasant, and well thought out. (prediction: winner)

The previous posts say it all. All these people who say "I spent an hour voitng for...(insert your choice here)." Idol has never been a fair competition based on talent, it's all about creating public perception and the almighty ratings. You have the same people voting over and over to get their favorite ahead. They should go to a one vote per contestant per phone line/e-mail if it were actually to be a fair compettion.

In case you were wondering, Allison is my favorite, but as long as Adam doesn't win I'll be happy. I would love to see Allison & Kris square off for the win, but in reality it will probably be Allison vs. Adam.

I would buy an album from Matt. I'm not really surprised because American Idol is not a singing competition and the real pure singer never wins. (Melinda Dolittle anyone?) I know this because I tried out last year and made it to the second round, the Producer was very clear when he said "We aren't trying to sign you to a record label we are trying to make good TV, this isn't about music."

So the good story (Danny Gokey) and the drama (Adam Lambert) will always win out because most Americans aren't singers or musicians so they vote for what they like personally and in our country we are preconditioned to drama and good stories, its why TV and Movie stars make so much money, because we pay them.

Anyway, sorry to see you go Matt but you will sell many albums, your style is one that many people like. And yes, Adam should have been in the bottom 3 because lets face it, its getting a little old. You don't have to be over the top Adam, we think you are talented anyway.
I think I might stop watching next year because I get too into it ha ha.

I feel the last 3 contestants should have been Matt, Adam, and Danny. I like Chris, however Matt is a better artist than Chris. This is why it is very important to vote. Adam is the best artist out of all of the contestants, and he has been consistently a great performer througout the entire season. I can say this because from watching the show I have learned what they mean by an artist vs. a singer. When Adam comes on stage, he manages the affects (i.e. the lighting, dramatic entrances), the arrangement (the band), and his singing is very good. His music is not my type (except when he sang Tears of a Clown by Smokey Robinson), but he definately is a professional singer. Although the other contestants are great, and I like them, but Adam os really the best artist on stage overall. Every single week Adam has been consistent, therefore Adam deserves to win and be the next Amerian Idol.

Here's how I decide who I like from show to show. First off, I record the show. During the live performance I close my eyes and listen to their voices because when it comes down to it, we will buy cds based on how they sound, not how they look or perform. Given this, every week I really enjoy Adam's voice and Allison's. Then after i cast my votes I watch Idol for the performance aspect and get to fast forward through commercials. Now you all know that when an "artist" gets into the studio all the pitchiness is corrected electronically. It's only revealed when a singer has to perform live. There are many many "artists" out there who really can't sing worth beans but they are good in the studio and are creative enough to make it.

To begin, I was not surprised that Matt went home last night. I thought the judges were wrong for saving him in the first place. He is a decent singer, but they have much better artists in this competition that might need that save in the next two weeks. As for his career, I do believe he could have a very good career if he would just let go and perform. He is too stiff and doesn't seem to have much confidence. He is not a consistent vocalist either.

As for Adam, I don't care for him either. I hoped that he would go home in all honesty. He sings great, but his whole screaming and 'emo' act drive me crazy! If he would drop that, I would LOVE him. I think that he knows, somewhat, who he is, but he is overplaying himself for the audience. He also needs to become comfortable in his own skin.

Um, Kris and Adam are the only two Idols who are actually charting when it comes to digital downloads. A glitch on iTunes revealed by accident that Adam's cover of "Mad World" was the best-selling single of 2009 (to date).
I was shocked that Adam was in the bottom 3 (or even 2). He is by far THE best signer out of the group, with Allison a close second. Kris could be one of the best artists, however, on the show. Danny is totally overrated. He's the new Taylor Hicks. No one will but his record! Being well-liked doesn't translate into sales. What would that record even sound like? Hopefully NOT like his dreadful cover of "Endless Love".

I am way over Adam's tongue! I am way over his believing that he has to screech at some point in almost every song he sings. He no doubt has talent – very much talent – but he is too "polished." I like him, but I don't worry about his future. He'll be fine and will go places, probably in a hurry thanks to his national exposure from AI.

Kris, on the other hand, is an all-around true musician. Songwriter, musician and singer. But most people don't appreciate that. He's just a regular guy trying to get a chance in the music industry via AI. Same as Danny, just a regular guy with a great voice hoping magic happens for him as a result of his AI experience.

Alison is 17 and incredibly talented, but she's 17! She'll have her turn, no doubt! I just don't think it's time for her yet.

My take on this Idol season is that these last five Idol contestants are each great, but I still believe that Adam Lambert will be our next American Idol. My heart sank a bit when Ryan announced that Adam was in the bottom 3 – how could that have happened, I wondered? This morning I am convinced that Adam's fans didn't vote and assumed that he was going to be the next AI no matter what – well, that's why we vote so that we can keep our choice on top! Take heart, Adam...we will vote in great numbers next Tuesday and I am looking forward to the show and your choice of song for Rock and Roll week! (this should be sweet!). Congrats to Matt...he is very very good...bye for now....still rockin' with Adam....:-)

This contest has become a travestry of justice. I KNOW people who are against Adam got together and friends to try and get him off and I believe this to be so and it is wrong. We all have our right to opinions but do it with honesty not deception people. I like Matt and he is okay and I belive will get better in time and age. I truly can't BELIEVE Kris was not chosen, he is nice and a fair singer but has no gusto with his songs, very dragged out and boring and Allison is good but she also should not have been saved and Danny is okay and playing on the sexy voice Paula has put into fans heads but he also should not have been saved. Well, whatever will be will be but my decision and vote now is disappointment and disgust.

I have been reading comments and many are against Adam because of his tongue. I have never saw him use it on the show. Yes, I saw him use it on You Tube and other pictures but not on the show. I think some people are against the guy due to his previous reputation not what he has done on the show. I hear how he has previous experience so he should not even be on the show, well others have had that also like Constatine M. who was on Rent and others. Bottom line: this is the show and all should be judged for how they perform on the show. Adam is not going to win because there are to many against the guy for his personnel life but he is the best on the show. Too bad!

It was a shock to me and I am sure many others to see Adam Lambert in the bottom three.

I believe that some times when we are heading to the last finalists. we all tend to think that our "favorite" is safe, because he has always been, and cast a few votes and we all assume he will be automatically safe the next day when the results post.

Well, make sure you vote for your favorite or else, he can leave!! this goes for Adam Lambert.

I was sure that Alison was leaving or Matt. Never tought she would be safe.

I don't for a minute think that it was a fabrication by AI for Adam to be in the bottom two. People either love him or hate him so not surprising at all for him to hit the bottom. Think about it–where do you think the votes that were going to Anoop and Lil went? They certainly did not go for Adam! He is a very talented performer but this is as much a popularity contest as it is talent contest. I for one think he belongs on Broadway or somewhere that his theatrics will be more appreciated.

Of course the whole Adam in the bottom 2 thing was fixed. AI just wants to increase the hype. And really, should Adam be allowed to win? Theater and Broadway are his profession after all. How about the regular folks like Allison and Gokey. Give them a chance

I think AI – the public got it right.

While Adam is really a talanted person – not everyone likes that type of sound. Some songs are really good and some I want to turn off.

Danny has a lot of talant also and I have enjoyed all of his songs.

Kris may not be able to do the rock, punk or rap. But he is talanted

Allison is als good but again some people get tired of the whole rocker thing.

I think any of these 4 could back it to the final 2 and I think all of these will get some type on contract.

But my final 2 picks are Danny and Kris.

While some think this ifs fixed..... keep in mind that each time a contest goes home that persons votes go somewhere else and it is most likely they go to a person that sings they same way. A person that votes for Matt might not vote for Adam but might vote for Danny, Kris or Allison.

I so agree with Stephen..........the most talented does not always win, but that is okay (maybe even better) because they are not bound by the AI contract for a year. Even if Adam doesn't win, he is going to have one heck of a career..............sorry to all those 'Adam haters' out there who don't like him just because he has confidence. He has more talent in his little finger than Matt and Kris put together – but we can't forget that this is just not a talent contest obviously.

I wasn't shocked Adam was in the bottom two. Think about it, Lil and Anoop's former voters aren't going to change over to Adam fans. Also, what was up with his cockey attitude last night! Seriously, I didn't care for him before and I definetly don't like him now. Ryan pulls that pick your group stunt on someone every year, and every time the person refuses to pick. He picked who he thought were the top two because he was so sure he was safe..... What a jerk move....

I DO NOT BELIEVE that he was actually in the bottom three. I believe that Adam is the VERY BEST ARTIST within the competition...and his excellence (brilliance) showed up right away and has only grown each week.

It makes me wonder if there is manipulation for "shock value". To me, after Adam sang the first time, I felt the show had the winner.

I pray that Adam will not somehow be taken out of first place for the sake of the dynamics of the show.

This is my ratings: #1 Adam, #2 Danny, #3 Kris, #4 Alison. ADAM is heads and shoulders beyond the rest in artistry and ability in my opinion.

He's working harder than anyone to define himself as a performer and doing a great job. I love Allison. I like Adam, but that last performance when he hung out his tongue, I thought I'd puke – or he would! That was TOOOOO Mick and Tommy Lee for me. He was trying to win the 'Paula' vote on that one. You see where that got him. He needs to keep it toned down and not in your face drama to make it. GO GOKEY!!!! P. S. Somebody NEEDS to assist Miss Allison with her STAR LOOK, she needs to dress her age and not try to be somebody she's not.....it does look like somebody toned down that hair color, THANK GOD...

Allison is rock chick, and that gets boring like a one note somba. It was nice to taylor hicks perform, he is much better than those counted him out as a loser of Idol winners. FINALLY! Now that the votes are split up from ousted contestants, people are seeing and appreciating Allison's talent. This girl is one of the top singers Idol has ever come across. Simon is crazy to tear her apart every week. She will sell songs on Top 40 without a problem, she is also bilingual and will tap the hispanic market a la Jennifer Lopez. With some fashion coaching, and the maturity that comes from getting over the teen years – she will eat the stage up. She can sing ANTYHING! She has never had a bad performance – and she gets better every week.

I wish Adam would go away and return to Broadway. Theatrical "rock" is his strong point – can you imagine listening to a whole album of same-ol-same-ol screaming? That won't stay on radio very long, nor continue to sell multiple albums after the teenyboppers grow out of their crushes.

I still don't get why Allison is still in the running ..sure she has unique voice but she still lacks alot of control with it......

SIDE NOTE: Does anyone have suspicions that since Lil Rounds and Anoop were voted off that the contestants have been told who was going home. Lil Rounds didn't look surprised (neither did her family who have always been vocal) and Anoop didn't look surprised in the slightest. All the teen girls voting for him have to realize that some people do not like his screaming and tongue. Now, if they could not have him close the show EVERY week, i would be very happy. It is so unfair that others go first and Adam always goes last. Get over him. He is not a the best singer but a very good actor/entertainer for a band or Broadway.

I would have to agree with those that have stated that this year's AI contestants are definitely leaps and bounds above the last few years' finalists. People....please keep in mind that because this is an open vote (vote as many times as you'd like) this is not a contest that is totally based on talent, but popularity which means that the best vocalist will not always win.

Anyone that has followed the music industry and AI, over the years, will be happy to inform you that it is not always based on who is the most talented vocally. There are very few recording artists now that have longevitity because of the way the industry is structured towards youth. They can take a hot new artists, make big bucks, then discard them for a new younger version and pay the new artist less money....more profits for the record companies. That is why so many of them sound exactly the same.

Adam is a star already and I dont know that IDOL title can help him very much....he's already gotten what he needed: the exposure to America. He doesnt need anything more than that to fill concert venues. HE IS A STAR.

I think Alison needs the boost more than anyone and I think it will be well placed if she earns the title AMERICAN IDOL.

This isn't a big surprise. I love Adam but I predicted he would be in the bottom two last night...and why? Because every single year Idol has to have what we call the "water cooler" show. They either vote off or put the obvious front runner into the bottom two position to get people talking and drum up more attention. This happens EVERY season and every year it reaffirms that I feel the show is fixed. They wanted the drama of Adam in the bottom two but they're not stupid enough to shoot themselves in the foot and send him home as he is the reason to watch the show this season. You watch...next week he'll be in the top 3 and safe. Wake up people. If you've watched Idol every season you know this show is going to happen around the #4 to #6 spots. This isn't a surprise if you've paid attention. Adam hasn't even seen the bottom three of any week yet, he's the top seller on ITunes and on this blog he gets three times the number of comments than any other contestant. Bottom two? Yeah right. Sadly predictable.

Love or hate Adam, he adds unprecedented flavor and excitement to the show. He has the most talent of any Idol contestant EVER and to those who spew all that hatred – you obviously don't have the capacity to be objective. No one minds you voting for your favorite or posting your support for them but posting nasty comments about other contenstants only shows your lack of character. If you don't have anything nice to say, don't say anything at all – your grandma should have tought you that!!!

Adam does not impress me. He's not bad, I'm not saying that. But I don't care for him. I don't like his screeching falsetto. I think he's en entertainer and belongs back on Broadway, not the mainstream music scene. I wouldn't buy his CD.

I think that Danny is boring and though he has good vocals, I find nothing exciting about him. I'd rather watch water boil.

I think Allison has great vocals but I don't like her lack of diction. When I can't understand the words to a song (which unfortunately is fairly common place in today's pop music) it irks me.

I think Kris (spell it right people) has really come a long way and has improved a ton. I think he has a great voice and I would buy a CD of his.

I was very sad to see Matt go. He was a great musician and vocalist. Unfortunately too many of you people saw him as a JT wannabe instead of appreciating what he can actually do. He does look a bit like JT especially with his hat. But it's sad that you people have automatically discredited him just b/c you think he looks like someone else.

Matt was my choice to win but since he's gone, I think it should be Kris or Allison who wins. Although... if Adam wins, he'll never make it as the AI contract will restrict what he can do and then maybe we won't hear from him again... ok maybe he can win...

Matt going was no surprise – he was already voted off once, the "save" was wasted on Matt, which is unfortunate especially if Allison is voted off next week. The final 2 should come down to Gokey and Allison. Adam is freakish and has a screaming, whiny voice, a lawnmower is more pleasing to listen to at this point. He'll make the top 3 but I don't think he belongs in the top 2. It all boils down to who would be the most successful singer on the stage and in selling albums. Allison, in my opinion, has the best chance at a successful music career, any of the contestants would fade rather quickly even if they won. Gokey is a talented singer but very forgettable (not unique). Then again, several American Idol winners have had short-lived or non-existent music careers. Allison is barely 17 but carries herself and performs on stage as if she's been singing for 20 years. Her voice is extremely well-trained and she has nearly perfect pitch. The dark, raspy, but powerful tone of her voice would make her wildly successful in the rock or pop music genre.

I am totally for Danny or Alison winning. Either of them would be great.... Just not Adam... He will be famous without Idol! Kris for sure needs to go next week for sure. Adam Lambert in the bottom three? Whaat??? I am an American Idol voter and so far have only voted for Kris Allen because I think he should be number two. Adam Lambert is the definite winner this year and he is so incredibly, insanely talented and consistently mind blowing that I haven't voted for him, assuming he is getting the majority of the votes. Not anymore. VOTE America!! Adam Lambert apparently needs our votes. You need patience and persistence to get through on the phone lines, but can you imagine how you'd feel if Adam does not win?? OMG! That is just wrong. There. I feel better now.

Adam is the most interesting to watch in performance, and may even have the best vocal control and technical ability, but I wouldn't want to listen to his album. His voice is like nails on a chalkboard. Think "Celine Dion" with black nail polish. It's like being the most exciting and talented bagpipe player in the world.

I liked Matt, but I like Allison and Kris better. I am looking for a Kris and Allison one and two in either order. Adam is talented, but I just don't like that kind of music, I can't sing along with him, if you get my drift. If he wins thats okay with me. I have no idea what people hear in Danny. I was very disappointed to see him in the top two. Allison was stunned to be in the top two and I was terrified for Kris. I was sold on Kris when he sang "Falling Slowly". I loved that song. I am hoping to see Danny go next week. I think Danny is a Taylor Hicks singer. To tell you the truth, I am sick to death of the judges pimping this year and that is going to make me vote for Allison and Kris for 2 hrs straight.

I wasn't surprised that Matt was sent home...he made the error of allowing his anexity to get the best of him....but truthfully, after listening to his club vd's I'd say he has a pretty good promising future in music...he just has to remember to sing from his soul and not worry about what is before his eyes. Also, he did a much better job with his song last night...
Adam is destined for Broadway not the airways....he has talent...and drama to go with it....I would pay to see him on Broadway.. (gosh, he just would make a great Judas (in song and acting)...
I wonder is Danny is going to be the finalist....it seems to be leaning that way. Allison has the gift of age and lots of time to mature to the role...she is not Miley..she is more versitle...I think she'll be around for some time.

It had to be either Matt or Allison, and I am still surprised that she is in. She shows no confidence, is terrified and can't be honest or sincere in any of her responses. As for Ryan Seacrest, he needs to find another job as he is annoying and you can tell he does not like Adam. Danny & Allison safe? Kris & Adam in the bottom 3? Those 4 knew Matt was going home with 1/2 of America & all the judges. AI in AI fashion had to shake up an otherwise predictable show with inane drama. It would have been more believable to have Matt, Danny & Allison in the bottom 3 & sending either Allison or Danny back to safety.

I think they sent the right one home. He's good but not #1 good. As time goes on, it's becoming more and more evident that Adam has had training above and beyond mere innate talent, perhaps an unfair advantage to the others. His movements and stage presence are TOO choreographed to be considered virginal. His effeminate vibes are getting stronger too, which by the votes is becoming a turn-off to the crowd. Appearing TOO self-assured has made him come off looking somewhat arrogant; those voted off get a somber look and obligatory half-hearted hug, how humble is that? However, what his voice can do with classic tunes is awesome and a force to be reckoned with! (exception being "Ring of Fire"- apologies to the late Johnny Cash!!!!)Danny has appeal but needs to be careful he doesn't come across in a Taylor Hickish sort of way. I think he is the "purest" talent of the remaining contestants. Allison has an incredible voice for her age and a great career ahead of her, but like Adam, I question if this is truly "raw" talent. Compare all of these singers to the Scottish Susan Boyle who is the epitomy of "raw talent!" At this point, too close to call a winner! The top ten this year have blown all previous contestants out of the water and all have very promising careers ahead of them!

I too think Adam's bottom two placement was a Fox stunt. For the past couple of weeks lots of people have been speculating that the producers are pushing for an Adam win, and I'm thinking this was a setup to try to defy those suggestions. I honestly don't think Adam would be there by sheer lack of votes. And if I'm wrong, then let's ramp up the voting next week, shall we? Do you people honestly want to see Kris or Danny win this thing? (snore...)

Either way, I think it might have been a good thing to see Adam feeling a little vulnerable this week. The last thing I'd want is for him to think he's got this wrapped up. NO one should ever think that. Leaving him feeling a bit stunned and at risk this week will only make for a better performance next week. (Even though I thought he was incredible this week!)

Seriously, he is so in love with himself & he's such a one trick pony.... whether it's an uptempo tune or ballad, just throw a little shreik in there & you got the morons screaming. Everyone did a good job Tuesday night, so it could have been anyone in the bottom 2.... Lambert fans need to give it a rest & stop being so cocky. There have been many great singers on IDOL – Kelly, Tamyra, Clay, Ruben, Jennifer, LaToya, Carrie, Bo, Elliot, etc..... he's hardly the best, just one of many. Besides, he's had 17 years of PROFESSIONAL musical theatre experience on all these kids. If he's not one of the best, he should be ashamed. He always was a ringer & don't worry, he'll win because the producers want him to in order to prove their not homophobic, as they've often been accused. Lambert will have a career on Broadway, whatever.

So many "Adam" haters here! While Adam may not have a look that I like or maybe not make a CD that I would typically listen too, he certainly has the best voice (and control) of any American Idol to date. He always thanks the people he worked with that week. Seems like a really nice guy and gentle soul. I'm hoping the last two standing will be Adam and Allison. And if Adam does go home, I wish him the luck of Chris Daughtry (as that was truely a shame when he left and Taylor Hicks ultimately won). At this point in the game, until a winner is declared, good talent will go home each week. Matt was by FAR the best talent on this show. He has amazing versatility as an artist which will allow him to make an entertaining album. If you watched any clips of the contestants interacting, he was always at the piano singing with everyone around him...making people laugh. He has a great personality and is very marketable. He will be the next Daughtry. If America allows Adam Lambert to win, I will stop watching this show. His music and interpretations, although strange, are very similar week after week with every song ending in that painful shriek of a scream that is SO not worthy of an Idol title. I am a little disappointed that the judges have not picked up on how redundant his performances are.... Matt will be the one to watch in the future.

No I don't , the producers wanted to throw us off. and make it not look so obvious. They didn't want it to b like last season, didn't David Cook win by 12 million votes, think about it .

Idol was just trying to save face for the iTunes blunder. There is no way that the person who sold 3 times as many songs to tons of screaming fan girls was in the bottom two.

The judges ADORE Adam, if for two seconds they thought he was going home, they would have appeared mildly worried, at least. Instead they were giggling and joking, being silly like always.

When they were teasing each other saying Randy and Kara were right, it was very OBVIOUSLY about Matt. I am 100% sure they knew Matt was going home. It was obvious by their comments, gestures, lack of interest in Adam's presence. No mention of number of votes, nothing.

    Dramatic effect? Yes.

Not surprised by last night at all. Adam is Broadway – he isn't a record seller. It has been interesting to see the ones who have won American Idol and have sold records – compared to the ones who have turned into hot air. i think that America is thinking before they are voting from this point forward. i think they want an American Idol who will represent for a long haul – not for the moment sensation. Adam can sing – but he is so over the map – what genre would he sing?

Danny? He is solid. He is consistent and showing what kind of record he could cut – and it would sell.

i still can't believe Taylor won that year. i hated his style/voice then and last night he really got on my nerves.

Here's the reason Adam was in the bottom 2 – his fans are as cocky and full of themselves as he is. They never dreamed their "idol" would ever be in the bottom 3 and neither did he. They didn't think they had to vote because it was predestined that Adam would win.

Well, guess what? You and Adam are not as great as you think you are and America brought you both down a notch tonight. Loved every minute of "as the worm squirms".

Adam is horrible. He belongs on broadway not on AI. His voice is great but what kind of kid of record would he sell? Queen? Show tunes? I would never buy an album from him. Matt, Kris, Allison yes I would and will if they are so lucky to pursue careers as artists.

I have to agree, after Daughtry, nothing would surprise me on AI. I'm not an Adam fan so I wouldn't have been crushed to see him go home, but it also wouldn't have surprised me.

One thing you have to consider, AI doesn't really care if it loses a few viewers. I quit watching when Daughtry got sent home and guess what? The show went on! And it will continue to go on for at least a few more seasons. So, just because your favorite leaves, and you quit watching the show, the show won't go anywhere.

This has been the best top 5 that I can remember (and I'm a huge Carrie Underwood and Chris Daughtry fan). I think they would all do well. Even if my favorite this year gets eliminated, I'll still watch because there is a lot of talent on here. Since the remaining contestants are so great it will still be a fun show. And Kris, he's got mad talent! Think Disco week....

My theory is that Adam is in a league all his own. But , I don't think he is going to pick up the votes of the idols voted off. I believe their votes will go to more "mainstream" idols. Matt's votes will go to either Kris or Danny, where Adam's votes will remain contstant. The other's will pick votes up. I don't think adam is the shoe in everyone thinks he is.

He is already in theater and now I find out that he is friends with Audrina from "The Hills". Come one people he is destined for a career. Why not help the real people who need to get their foot in the door. Every week I dread hearing his screaching voice, girly moves and stupid hair-dos. If they think he is that good then they should just go ahead and sign him and let the others have their time in the spot light!

While they sang their hearts out, they actually won over some of Adam's voters, and fair is fair. It's hard for them to compete against the eccentrics...and look it Taylor Hick's win. Showmanship can win crowds, but is it for the best in the end?
Danny rocked it, I see him with a brilliant career in the Worship industry if he channels his strengths there, Allison is beyond her years and regardless of the outcome will be successful from this as long as she has good influences in her life over these next few years, Kris is adorable and sexy and proved his worth on Tuesday night, and Adam is brilliant, but I'd never by an album from him, I'd rather go watch him on Broadway or a movie.

i think Kris Allen then Danny Gook should be next to leave. Kris kind of reminds me of David Castro but with more talent. Danny is a Talyor hiccks with out all the grey hair.

Wow lots of interesting comments tonight.....I agree FOX is staging Adam at points in the show to "keep us watching" . I would have quit watching cause I can't stand Taylor Hicks.....he's just as bad as he ever was. HOWEVER all of us AI fans have got to vote for our favorites and hit that redial button for all two hours! Please don't forget what happened to Chris Daughtry. The fans of every person who gets voted off will vote for someone else and they might vote against the person who is percieved to be the favorite or in the lead! Thus putting Adam in the bottom tonight.

I am really looking forward to next week as I love rock and roll and this will be the perfect showcase for Adam and Allison.

Adam is a professional and is a polite and respectful contestant and I disagree with comments about him being conceited or arrogant. He dose not come across that way. He listens to the judges with out arguing with them, he thanks them for there comments, he is supportive of his competition. I think he is a class act. Regardless of how this all turns out he WILL be a success and I will buy his CD when it comes out. We all know that you don't have to WIN AI to have an amazing career. If you got it, you got it and AI just give you a chance to show it off.

I just want FOX to let us vote at the end of the season for which Judge we want to get rid of and go back to 3. Listening to all 4 of them is why they keep running over on time. Paula bless her little confused heart is bad enough to listen too but throwing Kara in the mix makes it worse. I want Kara outta here and not back next season!!!!

by doing what they did tonight, the show didn't only create suspense and drama for tonight's results show, which they needed (because come on, results show are usually really boring with often mediocre performances from idol alums and current 'artists'). but with this whole shake up, which i still think is staged, the producers have injected suspense to the entire rest of the season, and it makes perfect sense. since so many people are saying this season is getting boring, because adam is so clearly a frontrunner that the competition element of the show has died, this creates the effect of 'oh wait, maybe he isn't the frontrunner we thought he was!'

this is just AI trying to say to the american public that the competition is not dead yet, that there is still excitement and (self-created, i maintain) buzz in the competitive element of the show. can they be more transparent?????

Ok. There never ever should have been a "save". Matt should have been gone when the viewers voted him off. He was/is mediocre at best with just an ok voice....and the hat bit was getting reeeally old. Anoop should have been on that stage last night. He was robbed by the stupid "save". What a waste. Anoop had superior vocals but the judges had their own favorites and gave Anoop nothing but undeserved, harsh criticism week after week. I'm guessing his preppy style and intelligent image had a lot to do with it...and was not one that Idol platform was in to. So in hindsight....the save was a total waste. Also....interesting was how "the arrogant Cowal" tried to make nice tonight. Give me a break. I think there are thousands of angry voting fans who have voiced opinions because they were miffed at the save and hence the way the final 5 were selected. That's why he was acting cordial this evening. Additionally....that "save" feature essentially disregarded the voters' decision as to who should get sent home...Matt in this case...instead turning the result into a judges decision rather than that of the voters. Why should we even bother to vote?

As far as Adam being in the bottom 2...it is likely the result of Anoop's fan votes going to Kris....and Lil's fans voting for Allison....the only other girl. There had to be enough votes there to turn the tables on Adam. And Danny has his own fan base....and has been running second to Adam all along. He is a good singer...but his performances are pretty average....and quite predictable. He's OK... but the judges think he's overly great and continue to praise every one of his performances.

Also....at this stage of the game ...I think that all of Adam's drama and theatrics are wearing thin on the viewing audience no matter what the judges say from here on in. So... we voting viewers are at the point in time of really trying to figure out if he is an Elvis wannabe....a screaming stage act who really should be in a rock musical....or just a flamboyant performer who is closing in on the ripe age of 30. Here is a seasoned performer who has tried and failed on numerous occasions to get a recording contract. I think tonight was the first time that a real sense of fear could be seen on the face of Adam.....the usually confident "I'm gonna take this thing home" kinda of attitude. Let's see what he has for us next week.

Lastly......the past idol Taylor Hicks... is sooo ordinary and the song was terrible and nothing I would ever want to hear again. And...Jamie Foxx should just stick to acting because his ear stinging performance was absolutely awful tonight. Don't think he gave the final 5 anything great in the way of advice either. What does a rapper with electronic vocals have to do with American Idol's image anyway! Geez!

If Danny was safe, then the producers have already crowned him the winner and we shouldn't bother voting!!

Although I LOVE Adam (and Matt, sorry to see you go!), I think they will both be better off professionally without the AI title, because at this point it's really a joke, isn't it??

Danny, safe?? REALLY?? Yes, that's a joke!

Why are people comparing Matt and Kris. O please! Kris is a consistently good singer, haters should back off! He has more fans...period!

The save wasn't a waste, Matt deserved to stay, the only contestant worth saving at the time of their eviction. Besides, he had to outlast Lil and Anoop. But he was the weakest of the 5, matt fans, deal with dat.

    Kris all the way!

    Adam is still Number One!

His being in the bottom three tonight was due either to Allison's fans going crazy or his own fans becoming complacent.

Either way, fellow Adam fans, let's blow up our phones voting for Adam until he assumes his rightful position at the top of the heap!

    Adam, we love you!

Tragic. Round 1 to the teeny boppers and talentless hacks out there. Matt was easily the most talented MUSICIAN on the show. He's got both talent and soul. I will definitely buy a Matt G. record. And before all you hacks start the JT comparisons, go listen to Robin Thicke. If there is a comparison to be made, it lies there. I do believe, however, that Matt is a unique talent; different from Robin Thicke. Robin Thicke paved the way for white R&B/soul crooners, and I hope that Matt walks down that path.

Seriously? Danny in the top 2? You did watch Taylor Hicks perform and fell asleep the same way I did, right? Danny is a show choir singer whose album would rival that of Clay Aiken and Taylor Hicks, i.e., it will both monumentally suck and flop.

Well, I am done watching Idol for the year. I leave the voting and viewership to the rest of you tone deaf teeny boppers.

One last thing, did you see the look in the guy who played Ray Charles (it's late and I can't remember his name right now) face? At the end of the segment when he stood next to him on the piano, the last shot was one of fear. He realized he had to perform on stage, advertising his new movie and album, and be compared to this bigger than life phenom called Adam.
The songs Adam picks, his arrangements, writing skills, everything all adds up to an album that would be truly amazing. Many of the others would give you a commercial piece, but Adam, I am sure it would be a shocker. The kind you play again, and again, and again, just like I do when I rewind and repeatedly hear his performances with my Windows Media Center Edition recording.

My favorite contestant is Adam, but don't think he should become the next American Idol - depending on what type of artist he wants to be. The AI is more mainstream, commercial - if he wants the title, he knows how to play to win. The masses of fans love him as a clean-cut, handsome man with a huge vocal range and deep emotional reach. The eye-lined, nail-polished, OTT, cabaret-style of singing and occaisional screeching that he loves is not as widely embraced. He's not the typical AI and the title could either limit what he can do or cause him to suffer alot of backlash if he doesn't conform to the title's expectations.

But it doesn't matter whether Adam wins or not. He's the most electrifying, most talented, versatile and talked about contestant on the show. He's already a STAR, he's already made his mark, and everyone is waiting with bated breath at what he'll do next. Record deals, movie contracts, nothing is beyond his reach.

Despite Danny's vocal perfection (and I loved his performance most everyone's last night), I don't think he would make a good AI either. He doesn't have the star quality, the good looks, the charisma to carry it off.

Allison or Kris could be great AIs. They have the appealing looks and talent that can be packaged well.

I'm crushed that Matt went home. He has such and great voice and spot-on rhythm. Why do people vote for Chris and Danny over Matt? I really don't get it. Those two are good, but don't hold a candle to Matt. It's a shame.

One more thing. Matt is who I picked to get eliminated toninght. It is not because he is less than a great guy with a wonderful dream. It was due to technicals. The guy sings a little off pitch sometimes, and he seems to be wrestling with the notes. Not really comfortable with them, and concentrating on his phrasing.
For those who don't like Adam, I find that a hard pill to swallow. The guy has worked for 5 years, dedicating his life to one goal, and that is to make it as a singer. All of that practice has really paid off.
Look at the competition with your heart, moreso than your ears, even though the two go hand in hand. To be honest with you, the emotional scale was Adam number one this week, and second place goes to Allison. I really felt it with her. She was amazing, a woman far beyond her years; impressive. Kris topped out the night he played piano, the arrangement was great, and he performed it beautifully. At least he learned to keep his tongue in his mouth. Danny was one of my favorites early on, but he is performing lukewarm. He is doing everything right, but not spectacular.
I recorded Adams performances, and when you hear them back to back, it makes you realize that he ought to create an album with each of the songs he did on Idol and to the fuller long version. I would buy that album, and I am a guy. Adam has it all, he appeals to all ages, and Paula and Ms Diguardi, it is all they can do to contain themselves. Last night they were throwing cold water on them just to wake them up. I did also feel like Adam was doing too much of the screaming instead of rock solid full notes, but I think the singing coaches have tempered that just enough to make it the high point of the song, without appearing like a screamer. He has it all, range, full voice in the low tones, middle tones, and yes falsetto and bone chilling screams. He's got what it takes to become another Elvis Presley or the Beatles. Compare the emotional experience when he is on the stage to that of the guest performers, including last years winners, and professionals with top, top selling albums. He blows them all away. This guy is a phenomenon I tell you.

In one way I can understand it, every week Adam blows the competition away, not that Danny, and Kris don't have stellar moments, but with the usual Adam taking the number one spot, it is starting to get boring. So what better way to spice it up then to get Adam in the bottom. The outrage from the viewers is bound to get everyone talking, and the viewers tuning in all the more. For those who don't like Adam. As a singer and entertainer, I believe Adam is overall number one and Danny a close second. You can argue it out over the remaining two who obviously have careers in this business. Allison, though extremely talented, still need to grow naturally before her true potential shows through. Ain't bad though for a 16 year old. She's actually better than a few "Idols" of the past. This is the best final five I've seen on Idol. Not surprised Adam and Matt were in the bottom two. Love Matt's vocals and style but he was struggling with the pitch last night. and is a tad inconsistent. Nothing that a little work with a vocal coach won't fix in short order. Adam is just starting to sound too much the same from week-to-week. He's unbelievably talented but I think he belongs on a Broadway stage, not on a world music tour. I'd like to see all of these kids have break-out careers and Adam is definitely the most versatile with regard to singing, movement, acting and stage presence. Send him to Broadway and send one of these other talented kids on the music tour of his or her life!

In Season 5, after Chris D. was knocked off, I read a very interesting article about a possible reason for Chris leaving. The writer said that when earlier singers left, their fans probably did not start voting for Chris because they probably didn't care for his rock music. They went to others, like Elliott and Taylor and maybe even Katherine McPhee. If you think about it - would a Kellie Picker or Bucky Covington fan vote for Chris Daughtry. Probably not. So if you add that to Daughtry fans just being complacent, you can see why Chris left when he did. This may have been what happened to Adam. You either love him or hate him. I don't think he is picking up more voters as others are voted off.

Thank God! Matt should've never been saved in the first place and quite frankly I'm not at all surprised Adam was in the bottom 3. Adam sounds exactly the same on every single song he sings, his self indulgent antics make me like him even less. I hope he goes home though I'm sure he'll do very well on next weeks rock and roll He's got the screaming down.... I predict he'll sing a KISS song! Go Kris we're rootin for a Real Musician to Win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Adam Lambert is by far the best contestant. He is in a league of his own. Matt was the one who deserved getting the axe. It should come down to Danny Gokey and Adam Lambert in the finals. Allison Iraheta if she tones it down a bit and doesn't sing like a roadhouse rocker next week could come in third. Kris Allen has a chance for third or forth.

It is crazy to think that Adam was really in the bottom 2. Fox plays us every year. If Adam were to leave the ratinga would drop!! He is the only reason to watch, he is the complete package. Kris is dull and boring, Danny is too inconsistent, Allison is sweet and if she wins it would be cool but the real idol is ADAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wondered if there was some manipulation going on with the bottom two. But – I have to say, when the show was over last night, I started calling my votes for Adam. And – to my surprise – I got through on both of his numbers probably about 20-25 times – with only one are 2 busy signals. That scared the be-jesus out of me.

I can't help bug wonder if Adam's fans got complacent and figured they didn't need to make much effort to vote because he's been consistently in the top group.

I was shocked that Adam was in the bottom 3. I have a feeling a lot of people are assuming that he will always be safe, and they aren't voting for him. I'm still rooting for Allison; while Adam is a more exciting singer, can you imagine Allison in a couple of years with more experience and more musical tutoring? She is truly gifted. Some of you people are funny. It explains why top 40 music is so lame. I keep reading that Kris hasn't any talent, not original... blah blah.
The average person seems completely unable to assess musical talent. Which is why the Britney Spears of the world are successful.

Kris Allen is the only singer/songwriter/musician on the show.

He has a ton more musical talent than the rest, and by that I mean well rounded. the others are all very good, but he has the edge.

You will find other singers and musicians agree with me.

Wow – some harsh words posted here about contestants. Yes, it was an AI orchestrated drama putting Adam and Matt as the two guys on the line. Everyone knew it.
However, I still can't help but think that the format of the show (even though labeled a 'singing' competition) is a 'performance' competition. Unless some things change drastically, of course Adam will win – he's the best 'performer.' That in no way makes him a great singer or the remaining top 4 contestants poor singers. It is what it is. I do have to say most all seem like truly nice guys (and gal).

I know all remaining 4 will go on to do great things in music. (And you don't have to be able to sing absolutely every musical genre and receive AI blessings to do that!)

Adam and Allison- are to me the 2 finalists. They have the skill to take a song and reinvent it or put the "edge" necessary to make it a winner. This is a very talented field, this final 4. They will have to be very careful with song selection and their natural ability to "hit it out of the park" on any given week. Next week is Rock and Roll and should play to both Adam and Allison's strengths.

The poorest singer Matt left, he should have never been saved, he is mediocre and awkward on stage, he has no individuality and has tried to image himself based on Justin Timberlake with 10% of the talent. He should thank himself very lucky for being in the top 15 let alone top 5.

Kris Allen is getting through based on the votes of spotty hormonal teenagers. I think his time is running out though. He is clumsy but cute, he is cuddly but creepy. All at the same time.

Danny is very good but he is also very predictable and though he is a great singer he is not a great performer. It obvious he spent last number of years singing with a church choir. His voice is amazing but it doesn't transfer into a great show.

Adam is a great performer and a fantastic singer (probably one of the best ever on Idol) yet for some he is hugely irritating, not sure if its his squeals, his cockiness, either way I think it will be his downfall. He has peaked way too soon in this competition. People are starting to tire of him and people are brought up to be brought back down again,i firmly believe he is on his way down. I dont think he can give any better a performance than what he has given already. So even if his brilliant, it will be expected, he will squeal and people will say 'heard it'

Alison Iraheta needs a PR person. Her weakness is that she does not connect well with the public, she cannot put an entire sentence together without ' eh' and uh"s. She doesn't leave people with a feeling of 'aww she is lovely or she deserves this and i am rooting for her"
That said she is 16 (or 17 as of yesterday) and I think people are starting to forgive her for that because of her age)

Each week she gets a little more confident and is starting to take risks in her performances , which are working. She is peaking at the right time and i think might be one of the final two with danny Gokey and the one who can win this.

I didn't like Adam's performance last night. I thought it was too much like his others and nothing special. I am not at all surprised he wasn't a top vote getter. One problem Adam has is only glowing comments from the judges. This could make him not work as hard, or come off as too self assured. I believe the audience loves an underdog which is Danny (widower) Allsion (youngest at 17 and free thinker) and Chris (the come from behind contestant).

I was really surprised that Adam was in the bottom 2 with Matt tonight. I had a funny feeling that it would probably get down to between Matt and Kris, and I was hoping that it would be Kris who would go home. Between the two of them (Matt and Kris), Matt has been ten times more consistent then Kris, and has this beautiful "soul" to his voice that Kris lacks. Kris has a great voice, but, a lot of guys in America have great voices. Matt had something that was at least a little bit more original than Kris. And as for Adam, he better not be eliminated until they get down to the bottom three. In fact, I rather see him be eliminated right before the finale, or be in the finale and lose, so he doesn't get stuck with that crappy American Idol contract which will supress his originality.

How is anyone surprised or of the thinking that there was no way Adam could've been in the botom two and maybe the results were rigged?! If you read the posts, Adam is a love him or hate him guy, so that splits the votes right there. As well, as contestants get voted off, those votes have to go to someone and most likely it's not for Adam, so it makes perfect sense that he was in the bottom two.

If they want us to believe the results are real, they should just tell us the numbers. Do a little CNN thing and put a big map up there with all the numbers and give us the official results. Show us percentages- something. Otherwise, we have no reason to believe that these results are in any way accurate. So, to create drama (and to keep people watching for the full hour- do you really think most of us would have stuck around to watch Taylor Hicks if we knew Adam was safe right from the start of the show?!? Please.), they say Adam is in the bottom two. Sorry- not buying any of it. I have never voted for a contestant ever on American Idol. I have voted hundreds of times for Adam and thousands of other people have, too. Notice how many people are buying new phones, etc. because of this? It's all a scam to get people to watch the entire show and vote even more (which AT+T is loving!!). Not at all fair to poor Adam, though. What a torturous thing to do to someone!!

Really? With a straight face? Even the Gokey fans?

I thought they only do the bottom 2 at this point, so at first I thought they just put Adam in the bottom 3 to shake things up. At this point, I also thought they only sent home the lowest vote-getter, and all others were safe in whatever order the producers decided would make a more suspenseful show. Does anyone know/remember how this works – was Adam actually the second lowest vote getter?

Geez, ok–you sound like a mean-spirited person. I believe the German term is "Schadenfreude"–taking pleasure in the misery of others. You need professional help.

Remember Tamyra Gray, Melinda Doolittle and Elliot Yamin? Better singers than Matt and where are they now? AI is still a hit and miss affair. There are no guarantees.

I think Adam's fans figured that Adam was safe so they didn't bother to vote for him – let's not let that happen again next week. Adam is HOT!

I was not surprised Matt was the one. I WAS surprised that Adam might be vulnerable. This may change the focus in next week.

Wished the show had clips of last night for each contestant.

Hard to believe Adam was in the bottom two. Think it was a stunt by Fox to get more votes next week since panicked Lambert fans will be sure to ramp it up. More votes, more viewers = higher revenue from advertisers. Seriously, are there more commercial breaks this year than ever before? It's downright distracting!

O.K., so this was more stressful than a rockets game in double overtime. I might need a drink now.

Too bad Adam didn't get the boot tonight. He could have joined the Rocky Horror Picture Show tomorrow. Well, maybe next week. I hope so.

  438. don't trust idol results

Dial idol showed Adam and Goeky tied for first like every other week. You notice how Idol never tells us how many votes each person got. There is no way Adam was in the bottom three, it was all staged so we will keep talking and keep watching. Idol doesn't need to do these kinds of stupid things. As long as Adam is on I'll keep watching.

Don't think Matt should have been saved, so am not suprised he went home tonight. Finally everyone got it right on Allison.
HUGE suprise /very wrong was Adam in the bottom two. Come on....you guy voters out there.......are you jealous?

Matt deserved to go home tonight. Don't predict a big career for him. He's a nice enough guy but very cookie-cutter. Didn't for a second think Adam was going home. Still, it was kind of cool watching him sweat a little.

Kris should have went many weeks ago... so I can't believe Adam and Matt were even in the bottom two. Kris is annoying. Creepy facial expressions while he sings. He looks like he could be David Archuleta's big brother. I hate David Archuleta!

We will hear more from Matt. He has amazing talent.

Geesh people. You all go out last night and not vote? NEVER assume your Idol is safe. Next Tuesday you need to vote for the two solid hours. The Gokey and Allison fans have whole communities voting for them, so we've got to do the same. All you younguns, rockers, baby-boomers and us grandmas, give two hours for the cause next Tuesday.

I was and still am a tad bit suprised although I do realize that the guys were going to cancel out each other eventually. Although I fully believe that Matt is a 10 times better singer then Kris. He is probably going to have a mediocre career, guys like Robin Thicke and Justin Timberlake have paved the way for white boy soul singers. I thought maybe the Daughtery thing could have happenend again with Lambert although it was unlikely..I am sour for the plain fact that I think Matt was a far better singer then Kris, too bad the ladies don't think he is as attractive..

I think Matt is great!! Of the top 5 I would only consider buying an album from him or Alison. I'm sad that he's gone. I was hoping for a surprise upset tonight.
