Top 5: Wasn't that something else?

What a show, eh?

Surprise mentor, great songs and some real standout performances.

As we get closer and closer, it gets harder and harder to predict who will be in the bottom - although I have at least one candidate in mind.

Don't forget to join us on Wednesday night to see who is out of the pack.

We want to know what you think. Post your comments below or head over to iReport to share videos of your reaction to tonight's show.

Your comment or video could appear on CNN!

I loved the music this week! Have had quite enough of Adam!!
Way too much shrieking!! I thought this was a singing contest as
Randy said, and screaming a song, is NOT singing! Loved Danny,
Kris, and Allison. Please, people, you have got to have substance,
and it gets really old looking at Adam 'screech" a song and doing all
the phony theatrics! PLEASE vote on what you hear! Don't watch
Adam when he's on. Close your eyes and listen. You will see what
    I mean. Thanks.

I guess I am tired of having Adam shoved down our throats. Since Adam has already been on Broadway, why is he even on here? He has a singing career already then, on Broadway. He sounds the same every week anyways. Screaming, screeching... whatever.

Its been much more interesting watching Kris get better and better every week, watching Danny improve and show more with each song, watching Allison come out of her shell. I just wish them all well.

SOooo tired of the judges. Kara makes me want to barf. Randy says the same stuff all the time. Paula kiss's ass all the time, although she comes off as quite sincere. Simon is usually spot on, but not always. Sometimes he is full of himself.

Thank god for DVR so that I can fast forward and just watch the perfomances. I wonder if Idol would have such great ratings if the advertisers knew we were all just FF with our DVR's, Tivo's. etc?

Adam, Kris, and Danny final three. All very talented. It comes down to a popularity contest. That is why sometimes the second and third runner ups have better careers. The other two contestants are not as talented as the final three.

while Adam's note was great, I'm still so underwhelmed by this guy and I can't see myself buying his album. I really liked Matt and Danny – but Kris by far is the one that folks need to watch out for.......

Adam reminds me of the 2006-2007 season for New England – no one and I mean NO ONE thought they were ever going to lose, until they went up against someone else who BELIEVED that they could win.....and that right there is what I'm banking on.....that when it comes down to it in the end, folks will pick someone that they can like and relate to versus someone who can just scream a note at the end.

Even the staging was ridiculous and desinged to show case Adam. No one stands a chance because no one wants anyone else to win – including the judges......

I'm not saying he's not talented, I'm just saying that he's not the kind of guy I'd buy an album of songs of.

Adam is good, no disagreement there, however, he is sounding a little bit the same lately. I understand he wants to inject his style into each song, but he sometimes moves so far away from the genre that he seems a bit indulgent at times. I am all for changing something up and making it new and fresh, but I am a little tired of the drama. However, I do think he is good, but there are others that are good/great as well.

Danny needs to change it up more, Kris is great, so is Allison. Matt is finding his way.

I am tired of Adam. Yes, his songs are a different take on the original version, but they are all beginning to sound the same to me. the falsetto, the drama....... we are not trying out for broadway..... time to move him on.

I have watched every season of Idol and personally I liked last years group the best. Last night I thought Danny did the best. I think the style of music fit his voice and he really shined. I also think Kris did well and I hope he is not outshined by the fact that he was first. I have liked Adam all season until last night. I thought he was indulgent to use a word that Simon likes and I also thought he was vain. I think he went to far afield from the big band theme and it showed a weakness and an immaturity on his part that we haven't see thus far. I do, however, think that he will win this year.

I don't dislike Adam, but he belongs on Broadway not on American Idol. He is not a future popstar or rockstar. When I close my eyes it sounds like a woman is singing. For me, his style of singing is screechy and annoying. For others, they love it. In my opinion, he will not sell many records. He may sell tickets on Broadway though. His winning American Idol would be a waste as I suspect his songs will not play or sound well on radio.

Adam is a pro, so he has a distinct advantage. That said, if I wanted a Freddy Mercury wanna-be that would be great. His voice is good and you can see his professionalism shine through, but if he was really all that and a barrel of grits, why did he have to go this route. He has been doing this for years. I think whoever gets to produce him just might run into someone who may just not want to do what a producer wants them too. It could be a problem. All of the five can sing, its just a matter of who the public chooses. I truly like Allison and think with the right producer she could go far. The smokey quality of her voice makes her stand out from the others. I would like to see Matt go next and would really like to see Adam gone, if for no other reason because Simon says he is in the finals.

Danny is the Micheal Bolton of the millinium, good singer but nothing stands out. Adam is theatical, always feel like he is in a perfomance of some stage musical. Matt is good, but I think the final should come down to Allison and Kris!

I love the way people get behind the Christian Right singer and bash the gay guy. How fricken American. Danny is a choir master and sounds the same every week The other three are mediocre. Adam is the stand out and if this show eliminates him due to his supposed sexuality and not give his the trophy for his talent, it is my last of American Idol. He is the only performer of the group. He is the only one that will sell records. Give the guy a break as to his personal life and back a real talent in an otherwise blase year of American Idol. Adam is phenomenal.

Reading others comments on last night's show. One commentor wrote, I believe name is Ken, that people need to stop comparing Matt to Justin Timberlake. Hello to Ken: "You've got it wrong – there is no way, looks, singing and dancing that Matt could ever in life or death be compared to Justin Timberlake. It IS MATT whom is trying to act and be like Justin Timberlake and he needs to re-think his mind or get a new mirror and get his ears checked. I believe he is a wannabe and is just fair. Allison is young and did the best she could but not close, Chris is charming but boring, Danny is okay better last night – guess he is buying into Paula's remark about a sexy voice – I guess whatever works. Yes, Adam is theatrical but he is good and like Simon said – the objective is to win and sing and PERFORM.

I am so tired of people complaining that Adam is only Broadway and Theatrical. Yes, he is theatrical. But so is Mick Jagger (who cant sing) Freddy Mercury, Elton John, David Bowie, the WHO, any heavy metal band, or for that matter just about any video out today, etc. Please, show me a boy band today that doesn't wear eye liner. An entertainer should be more than a good singer. They should entertain.
Not only does Adam have the best voice this season, he has the best voice of any season. Whether he wins or not doesn't matter. Adam Lambert will be a HUGE STAR.

And by the way, it is so freakin hard to sing like an amazing Broadway performer. Maybe people should go see the AMAZING SINGERS on Broadway right now.

Love him or hate him...the only true star in this edition of American Idol is without any question...Adam Lambert !!!!!
His Broadway background gives him that edge...he can sing and perform anything...and like the judges say...he always makes it original and makes it his own..
No one else in this year's edition can do that......Period !!!!!!
have any of you been into a Broadway musical?....you'll be amazed of the quality and caliber all the singers have...they can knock out any winner of American Idol, all 7 editions included, in a heartbeat...
AI has produced in my opinion, four good singers with a possible singing career ahead of them...
    And a super star...Adam Lambert....

Folks – A number of points. First Adam has experience in musical theater, but has never been on broadway he was in the touring and LA cast of Wicked – not Broadway. For the guy who was wondering what happened to Sammy and Dino Feelin Good (originally a show tune by the way) was sung by Sammy. Then we have people complaining that the performers aren't true to the theme, then similarly complain that Adam came across as a lounge lizard – that is exactly what the Rat Pack were. Fancy lounges, but lizards none the less. For those who say Adam won't sell music – he has by far the most down loads from i-tunes. Also you will find that for most of the performers the studio version that i-tunes sells is not the same as the live version. That is because most performers and that is what musicians are – performers – respond to the setting. Adam does what gets folks going when he is on stage. His studio version are less over the top.

Everyone was very good last night, but as Simon said during Allison's critique someone will be in the bottom 2.

Top performances – Adam and Danny. (wow I never thought I would put those 2 together in the same sentence).
Allison – her best performance to date
Matt – ok, but should have been better (needed to be more bluesy)
Kris – ok, but his voice is obviously not as strong as Allison, Adam, or Danny,

    bottom 2:
    Matt and Allison

Surprise bottom 2 – Kris. HIs vocals are not nearly as strong as Adam, Allison, and Danny and that was glaringly obvious last night. While his performance was very good, Allison was very good as well.

No matter who is is in the bottom 2, Matt will go home.

It is so difficult to say in regard to the top four. Matt is excellent but forgettable. There is something missing, an emptiness, something I cant put my finger on, that is missing from Matt.

When it comes to the other four; any one of them could have been the winner in any other years grouping. They are exceptional. All four of them, this year are my favorites. Adam was omg phenom!!! Something about that swagger down the stairs, the PERFECT hit-each-note-exactly voice was butter-smooth ... he never fails to give me chills. He always adds his own touch to each song he performs and I LOVED how he rocked last night. I agree with Simon when he said "What's wrong with him being theatrical? It's like being upset with a cow because it moos. This is who he is." and it's refreshing to see someone who is so certain in their identity.
Allison was beautiful and touching, making the song her own and working it ... I loved her performance as well.
This had to have been Danny's best week, I was shocked he had so much in him!

Jamie Foxx as an expert on "Rat Pack" music? LMAO omg that is the biggest joke of American Idol! Must be the only "expert" they could get! Just because he made the movie "Ray" and did some hip hop music? There are many others who would have been better but apparently they aren't young enough or hip enough. Very sad that American Idol is not a true singing competition. I could almost hear Frank, Dean and Sammy spinning in their graves.

Jamie Foxx? Huh? Very odd choice for a mentor. Is this "American Idol" or "Last Comic Standing"? Foxx is an actor/comedian. I thought he was a horrible choice to be giving singing advice. Why did they pick him, just because he played an acting role in a "rat pack" movie? Please.

The way the judges (except Simon, thank God) gawked over Kris, I really started to wonder if they had an agenda. My guess is they think Kiris is very marketable (because of his looks only), so they are pimping up his bland and boring performances. I seriuosly considered never watching American Idol again when they all gawked over his lame performance. But I guess in the end, its about money. And the judges will always be biased to the contestent who can sell the most records and make them the most money. Regardless of talent.

OK, venting done. Allison and Adam are clearly the most unique contestants with the most raw talent. Lets see if America agrees. The other three guys (what are there names?) are standard, run of the mill, blande, blah, performers.

Adam is in a league of his own since he is able to not only sing well but he is able to coordinate how he looks on satge, the back drop for his singing and his theatrics too . . . he's got it all.

But there are others in the competition who warrant high praise too . . . Allison and her fine singing ability . . . Danny for is wonderful voice and deep connection to his songs and I still feel Anoop should still be there . . . there's a kind of aura around him that makes you think he's got what it takes in singing & entertainment.

Simon, it is very obvious what you are doing . . . swaying the votes for Matt . . . Matt is good but not good enough for the top 3!

I must say I am an avid supporter of Adam but I wasn't impressed last night. He started the song slow and then sped it up like a remix which is the exact reason I didn't like Anoop on disco week. I'm completely over Danny and have been for weeks. Everyone keeps saying Adam does the same thing over and over every week but if you go back and listen to the performances Danny is the one that sounds the same every week. Matt is marginal, the other 4: Kris is great, Alison is great but I think it comes down to 2 Danny and Adam. I have loved Danny from day 1 even when the judges criticized his performance I thought he was great, so much feeling in his singing.

Truthful Adam has a voice that is beyond compare. I get chills when he sings but I think he is too "gaudy" for lack of a better word. I don't see him being a big pop star. Last night I found myself amazed at his voice but laughing at the whole performance, I sometimes get the feeling it is a Las Vegas stage performance not an American Idol.

    I'll be honest.
    I've heard Adam sing before.
He's good. But I haven't watched this season.

I was on the computer with my sister watching in the other room. I heard the girl (I thought) singing a really really long, ringing note. The first thing that came to mind. I kept thinking "Why does everyone say she's so bad? That sounds really good!"

So I went in to look.
    It was Adam.
I don't care how good his voice is, when I mistake a guy's voice for a girl, I'm done.

I think last nights show was great. But i believe Matt is going home tonight. I think Adam is a great performer, however, I dont understand why Idol would have a format show and not hold him to it. I believe the "true" American Idol should have the respect for the chosen format. Yes i agree that Adam is great performer but he hasn't shown me the ability to sing a large arrangement of genres. Lets see Adam sing 'Standards" how it should be sung, Country how it should be sung, R&B how it should be sung and leave the open mike to the open night mike. I really would like to see Adam's ability to respect the genre and be a true music lover.

While theatrical as many have pointed out and do not consider that a bad thing at all, Adam continues to be the stand out. I thing he and Allison should be the final two. They are the most commercial of all of them and lets face it, bottom line that is what this is all about.

While I am not a big Chris or Matt fan, they sing circles around Danny. I do not get this obsession. While he can sing circles around me, he is not that good. Quite frankly I think it has been the "pity" vote keeping him alive. I think he would be very successful as a contemporary Christian singer, but would not make it anywhere in the 'pop' world.

I though Adam , Allison and Danny did great. I've been routing for Matt, but I think he deserves to go home now – he didn't sound good tonight.

Kris did as good as could and is closer to defining his sound than some of the others, but I don't think he's as good as the rest – vocals just aren't that strong – he's also not as original as you might think.

I really think that Danny has a great sounding voice, but his range is limited – he also sounds way too much like Michael Bolton – come on people, do you want a Michael Bolton sound-alike to win this thing?

It's very obvious that Adam Lambert will win this thing unless the voters choose Danny's adult contemporary thing – I'd rather see something fresh like Adam or Allison.

At this point in the competition, it stinks when ANY of the contestants have to go home! Once again, I loved Kris, Allison, and surprisingly, Danny last night. When I listen to each, I have to say that when choosing whom I would see in concert or buy music from, I can't say that would be Adam. Performer yes, musician that speaks to me, no.

I'm thinking Matt will be going home tonight. I'll be biting my nails waiting for the word since some of my favorites will now start being in the bottom 3. GO KRIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

no matter who goes home, all five of them will recieve recording contracts, [and i dont say this every season] but i think all 5 will be successful.

adam, kris, and allison did the best tonight. danny is a great singer and in the beginning i loved him and wanted him to win but his excitement is starting to wear off and bore me.

my prediction is that matt will go home. he did a great job and looked like he was in his element last night but i believe the others are better.

I am so disliking the way Danny sang Rain or Shine. He was bad tonight! Danny is a one trick pony . All his songs are starting to sound the same and that R&B vocal olympics act is just too much for me. He should join Lil' Rounds on the evening entertainment news. Danny really sang my ears out tonight and blew lots of hot air.

All I can say is the talent on the show this season is unbelievable .

No matter what happens ALL of them (the final 10) are on their way to great things with their talents.

Even though my wife and I are hoping Danny Gokey goes the distance we both think Adam is a close second.

Our only criticism of the show itself is the inconsistent and "subjective" comments of the judges and yes of course we're talking about Simon Cowell, although Randy and Kara have at one time or another provided confusing advice to these great kids.

These contestants are NOT professionals and yet the judges are very critical of their song choice and arrangements – if they were all perfect they wouldn't need to be on the show – a comment made by one of the contestants to the judges.

Best of luck to the remaining 5 as they continue in the competition and on their way to a lifelong journey of their dreams.

They were all fabulous last night. Well, maybe except for Matt. I want more Rat Pack music from this group, and judging by the live audience reactions, the rat pack era could make a solid comeback. Maybe a new, coed, rat pack is in the making!! How 'bout it simon?

I think this forum gives Danny and Matt the short end of the stick. Both are excellent singers. Adam is so theatrical and in your face that it is hard to access the other contestants, I would like to see Danny win with Adam being second. Adam will have a career no matter what and in fact, maybe hindered by the restrictions American Idol will place on him. Danny has worked hard and deserves the title. The other three simply aren't in the same league as these two, although Matt should be a close third.

I thought Simon was crazy with his criticism of Chris. Chris was flawless last night. I thought all the performances were wonderful. This is the best of the best and very difficult to determine now who will be voted off. My prediction: Allison (Simon made sure of that). Matt is the alternative, I think. Chris is too cute to be voted off until they get down to Danny, Adam and Chris. Eventually, I think (as most people do) that Adam will take the prize. Danny will likely be 2nd place, but Chris could get the "cute boy" edge over Danny (though Danny is also cute). I think this is the most talented last five that Idol has ever had.

I thought this was the best night so far. I wish they could have each done 2 songs!! I would buy a CD of these 5 singing standards!!! I went back and listened without watching and felt that Danny and Allison were the best this week. Although I thought Allison should have sped the song up just a bit. Am a huge Adam fan – but felt he was too theatrical this week. He held that note way longer than he needed too– but LOVED the way he curled it at the end of note!! I think it is going to be Matt going home tonight although his song was very nice -especially just listening. Jamie Fox did a great job with them!!

I think this is the strongest top five in all of the American Idols seasons. They are all good singers, and each and every one, I think, with the right kind of support and advice can have a good career, especially Allison. That being said, as talented as he is, with an amazing voice, I have come to find Adam's performances to be self-indulgent and far too theatrical, as if he is channeling Freddie Mercury or Idina Menzel. Adam has it all—a great voice, he knows who he is and what he can do with that voice, and is comfortable on the stage due to his theater experience—but, given how predictable his performances have become, I don't see him as having much longevity in a career. He is too packaged. And his hysterical vocal gymnastics have become a detriment to the song, as if he is trying to hard to prove he is a great singer, overcompensating. Give me Kris who makes you focus on the song instead of the over-the-top performance. You feel it in his soul. Understated, soulful without phony bombast.

Danny must be getting nervous. Just being the nice guy doesn't cut it all the way to the finals. Good vocals. I liked the change up at the end, but it seemed out of character based on all the other performances.

    Allison (though I heart her!)

Lets be honest and give Adam this years American Idol award.....he is the best performer by far correct? Wait this is a singing contest right? Well Adam's music won't sell to a lot of people across main steam America. If he was such a great talent /singer why is he on American Idol? WHY isn't he already a BIG star in the music business? Why he is cocky and arrongant and if he isn't careful he is going to crush his own neck with his over sized HEAD! His family is in the music business and he is already a professional on Broadway where he should stay. American Idol needs to look at changing or improving their rules to enter this contest. Myself I like the winner of American Idol to be a virgin to the music business not a professional performer......of course Adam has has dreams too which I do not want to go there. One last note ........What comment or point of interest has Kara added to this year's American Idol? Please think about this oe for a moment ......she should be fired 5 minutes after this years final show.

Maybe I am sick and twisted. But, I am in love with Adam. He can do no wrong in my eyes. Okay, this is probably more than some of you want to hear. But, Adam has been a top performer every week. All five actually performed very well this time. Actually, Matt and Kris were the best of the night. Matt needed a good night, but hasn't been consistent. Danny is good, but just does nothing for me on the stage. Adam and Kris ooze with talent and charisma. Kris just keeps getting better each week in my opinion. Allison has also been good on a consistant basis. So, I Matt should be the one to leave next. But, Matt will still have a great career. For me the next to should be Danny. Not because he can't sing, but he just is not a total package like Adam, Kris and Allison. Danny will be fine even if he does not win. The five are really pretty terrific. Anoop should have been in the top five over Matt. But, Anoop would not have gone past the top 4. Adam is my American Idol of 2009!!!

    Lee,
Adam hasn't been performing in the first half of the show since the top 13. He's had a few performances in the last slot of the evening (or the second to last). I'm sure there IS a reason for that... because a lot of people wouldn't watch the entire show after he performs. Each person plans their own performance, so I really don't think the producers planned his entrance on the grand staircase. They don't need to hand Adam the title... he's earning it! He earned it with his AUDITION!

Didn't anyone else notice that Adam's performance was edited? The version he performed was different than that one shown at the end in the short summary clips. Notice how the run in the last note and the cutaway smile is totally different in the performed version vs. the highlight clip at the end. Maybe they pre-record the last performer so they can turn it around quickly for the hightlight clip at the end, but just sayin...... it lends credence to my theory that he isn't actually human but a Broadway space alien.

If judged on singing ability/quality then Matt goes home.

BUT – the voting premise ends up being a personality contest – so it comes down to who is doing the voting and who they support.

As Adam and Danny have never been in bottom 3 – their voting coalitions, if continuing, should keep them around another week or so.

That leaves Matt, Kris and Allison. Matt has been the bottom feeder before so it may be he does not have a solid voter base – and passed last week due to the weaker performances by Lil and Anoop.

Allison, being the last female in the run, may be able to hold out a bit if she inherits any from the Lil coalition.

Kris seems to have been picking up some of the teenybopper crowd – Parents – please quarantine your children's phones so Kris can be sent home.

Oh what a night!!!! I loved it. I was a twinkle in my parents eyes and then some when these songs were HOT but last night showed us all that HOT is HOT no matter when you sing it. These classics were in the hands of some pretty young folks but they did an incredible job. I really liked some and sorta liked others. I want Adam to do Elvis and then I'll be happy. What a great mentor. Jamie is HOT just like the era. Loved last might looking forward to tonight.

Adam was horrible. He came across as overly confident, way too cocky, like he has the win locked up already. His performance reminded me of a sleazy lounge act. I used to like him, but he is getting boring, and way to arrogant.

Great Show. What is it about Adam Lambert. We know he can sing, but why does he have to do the same thing week after week after week. He is slowly becomming a serious drag with his high pitch warble. Got so I mute the TV half way through his songs anymore.

Maybe Tommy Lee and his boys will be looking for a lead singer again soon. Randy, Dude what is up with you? You are starting to carrying on like the lady sitting next to you.....slow down Dog....chill pull your head in!

Please next week let's try something new .....after a singer finishes their perforance please let Simon give his remarks or comments first. Simon, I can tell the final 5 singers hold their breathe until you make your comments.....You were a little off on Matt tonight I feel but in fairness you have made millions in the music business so I respect your comments.

Finally .....WATCH OUT ADAM.......HERE COMES DANNY AND DON'T FORGET ABOUT KRIS. MY DARKHORSE IS ALLISON....IF SHE 'BRINGS IT DOG' she has the best voice in the group. Enjoy your 15 minutes of frame Adam........your time is running out!

Great show tonight! All these kids were good ... Adam and Allison were GREAT!! Here are MY favs:
    1. Adam – Fantastic ALL the time (well, maybe with the exception of Play That Funky Music)

    2. Allison – Also loved ALL her performances (this young lady will go far after AI)

    3. Kris – Slowly grew on me; I was so disappointed when he made it to the Top 12 ... but wow, look how much he's improved ... totally won me over at disco week!

    4. Matt – I think he's just got a bad case of nervousness; because if you listen to his studio recordings ... aww so sweet!

    5. Danny – he's never won me over ... sorry not even with tonight's (his best performance so far, say the judges ... nope)

Just my opinion ... can't wait to see your show tomorrow!

Adam is probably the most talented singer ever on Idol. Every week he comes up with extraordinary, original songs. In terms of creativity, he even far surpasses last seasons 2 Davids.

That said, I have to say I am a big fan of Allison. For me, commitment and passion are the most important aspects of a singer – after being able to actually sing in tune, or course. Here Allison has never failed to give it her all. She is amazing.

Here is my top performers tonight based on voice.

Kris- very smooth. Very easy like a warm fire on a cold winters night.
He can go where ever he wants in this business whether he wins Idol or not.

Danny- He started off a little tenitavie almost like he was waiting for the last finale of the song. Once he got there only then did he show the so called swagger the judges mentioned but since i'm going on voice he was pure butter.

Adam- His voice is awesome but I'm a little bored with the screams and for that I place him third. Don't get me wrong he is a great talent but where does he fit in todays music scene? I see him on Broadway his talent needs a big production stage. He may win Idol but will he survive the radio wars?

Allison- She was good but i did'nt believe she felt what she was singing. Jamie Fox gave her some good insight as to how she could get the most out of her emotons while singing but it was full on. I don't understand why she is being put down for what is said about her confidence because just getting as far as she has being as young as she is says thats not so. The girl can blow!

Matt- Matt-matt-matt where do i start? His vocals were not good tonight as a matter of fact he has not been good from motown night. I don't know what photos he's got on the judges casue he should have been gone long ago. Im not trying to hate on him but it's obvious he is not shoulder to shoulder with the other 4 contestants. That being said i think someone will cut him a record deal. I hope he loses the trying to fit in with the current male singers like Robbin Thicke or Justin Tmberlake because he's not them so matt just do you.

To me it seemed like the judges were influencing America's vote tonight. Their comments seemed much more elaborate (though perhaps appropriate at this stage of the competition) and, in my opinion, it seemed like they were targeting Allison. Does anyone else agree?

I close my eyes and listen to the performances a second time. I also consider the criteria, would I buy this? By these measures, Danny Gokey just was not very good tonight. He was certainly adequate, but a million singers are as good.

I liked Gokey when this all started but he is boring me now. Adam has star power that is evident to most – but is a bit campy and theatrical, Allison is an unpolished diamond with an amazingly unique voice, Matt is brilliant but lacks confidence and that hurts him every week. Kris continues to surprise – consistently better than expected. He could be in the final two.

I would love all to live to sing another day.

Chris and Matt are going.....maybe not in that order but they are not going to be able to compete with Danny's sympathy votes and Adams popularity. Danny did sing his best so far tonight and I was impressed because the standards are not my favorite. Allison did very well this week and I think Simon was too hard on her......however I think he is trying to challenge her.....get HER to believe she can win.
I am a HUGE Adam fan but with that said I am even a little tired of the predictable over the top vocals. I don't think he is in any danger this week but he is not a shoe in for the win. He needs to really knock it out of the park next week and again set himself apart from the rest of the very good finalists.
Can we vote Kara off? Please

Very good show tonight . The 5 of them are getting better each week and have gotten over being pitchy for the most part and are handling higher notes with ease and power ...they used to be pitchy before , straining to reach notes and being off pitch , thus being pitchy....now they are doing great and have improved so much. Kris and Danny were awesome . Matt did very well as Simon pointed out. Great show.

Kris was solid, Allison floored me, man that girl can sing, Matt was the weakest and I think will go home tomorrow. Danny was great and Adam was his usual perfect self. I predict Adam will win with the top 3 being Adam, Danny and Kris. Allison has a great future ahead of her, she can really sing, but I think that the teenage girls will vote more for Kris than the boys will vote for her.. The top 4 are really talented.

My teenage daughter got us hooked on American Idol. I've been looking forward to Adam's performance every week. He's incredibly talented, and I've felt like he's head and shoulders above everyone week to week.

This week, though, several people stepped up their game. Kris was terrific. Alison, who I thought would struggle with standards, was phenomenal. And Danny, whom I haven't really liked much, was great.

Matt should go home. The other four are really something. I don't think there's been this level of talent in the final five in the past few seasons.

No, to the guy who said anyone who didn't like Matt was Tone Deaf, you are WRONG.

My Funny Valentine is a difficult song to sing. It's a sad, passionate, sexy song. His rendition was God Awful. Why the heck was he smiling? Maybe he hit a majority of the notes, but...it was insincere, ill-timed, strangely loud & soft, pretentious (maybe), and just not very good. Even Matt Damon in The Talented Mr. Ripley, who doesn't really have a singer's voice, had a MUCH more enjoyable performance than Matt.

Anita Baker – now that's the way you sing My Funny Valentine. Wow. There's a video of a live performance of it online.

Tonight's show was very good, and very surprising! All are still in it, due to voting by the fans (and I've NEVER been able to get through, and I don't use texting..........!). Anyway, I'm so over Adam, I liked him through the audition phase, but come on, I'm tired of the screaming with every song. I don't think you have to SCREAM to be a good singer. Matt will probably go home, he just didn't do justice to the song (even following Jamie Foxx's suggestions). Allison is good, and for her age, she can show heart in her songs. Kris also did very well, and it's never envious to go first. Heck, he looked more like a "rat pack-er" than anyone else. Danny, very solid performance, you could feel the song as he sang (but I so wish he'd stop the hand movements, reminds me of Archie always closing his eyes last season when he sang, it's distracting). All are very deserving to be where they're at, and all have a solid future ahead of them. But, I'll be downloading Kris and Danny's songs from tonight........................nuff said.

They may have dressed like rat-packers, but their songs were from the 20's and 30's while the rat pack was 30 years later and had some music that was just as good.

I'm really getting tired of the relentless pushing of a Danny/Adam final. Danny in particular has just not been that great the last several weeks (although he was better tonight). He gets a pass that others would not. It reminds me of Season 2 when Ruben had some rough performances but never got criticized.

It's one thing for the judges to critique the performances, but the "you must see the finish line" and "you will definitely be in the finals" has got to stop. Please.

Matt needs to go home, where he should have been a week ago. Then Allison. After that, I think it could be Kris, Adam, or Danny (with Danny definitely third on my list) in the finals. But given the endless pimping of D & A, I'll have to be happy if Kris makes the final three.

I think the weakest of the night was Matt, which is surprising since this was his "week." Adam, again, remarkable. I'm tired of everyone saying that he's a one trick pony, or that every week sounds the same. He changes up things every week, makes songs his own, and is the best technical singer and performer that this season has. Also, he isn't shrieking or yelling. Do some research about singing with a head voice or chest voice. Danny is a huge gimick, and got his votes by plugging his sob story about his wife. Kris is a great talent that is getting better and better every week. Allison's doesn't have quite the control needed with her voice, but as she gets older and gets some more training, she'll be great.

Not everything has to be flash. All style, no substance. That's why I like Kris. And from what I've noticed in interviews, watching the audience, and even some of the TV shows, people are just not as into Adam as AI and Hollywood celebs are. People seem to be really connecting with Kris. Last week on disco, Kris got the largest standing o and applause of the night. From what I heard, it was the same tonight. He is a dark horse. Him and Allison could definently appeal to teens. Adam could be a broadway star, and is apsolutely the best singer in the competition but I don't think winning would be the best thing for him. I love danny as well. I hate matt. He is good but not worth that save . I think the bottom two is going to be wrong just because of Simon alone. I lost respect for him tonight

Alison and Danny were the two best tonight for sure. and if America does't vote Matt off something is seriouly wrong here he was not good at all and should already be gone.

    Vote Alison

    Tired of Adam's theatics.
I don't think Allison is getting the credit she deserves.
My favs tonight were Allison and Danny.
Matt is going home – he is not as strong as the others.

Wouldn't be surprised if Kris is the "other" in the bottom two, because Allison was amazing tonight...

Honestly getting kinda bored with Adam, he wants to be a screaming rock star and every song he sings, or ehh screams sounds too much like rock.....And he seems to like to do the Elvis lip thing....He needs a makeover or something HA HA..... Of course we all know Adam will be in the finals because everyone who knows him is going to jam the phone lines to vote for him.....Has he ever been in the bottom 3?????
Who knows maybe tomorrow night will be a shocker.. (maybe some hair band has offered him a gig)

Allison has got a voice for such a young person. She will be in the finals or at least till the week before the final. Doesn't matter, we will be hearing her on the radio in the near future....

Kris I think is going to sneak up and surprise everyone at the finals.... If he doesn't, he most definetly will be making a record before too long...

Danny will be in the finals.... How can you not like Danny or his voice?

Matt, I think is on his way home tomorrow night. Even though he has shown he REALLY wants this, as to what Simon says he is looking for from the contestants..... Poor Matt has tried and tried and he just can't please the judges.....

Off the subject a bit, has anyone else noticed when the show first comes on, when they go to commercial, Simon is always walking away from the panel, this happens every week!!! Whats up with that?

I've been waiting for a good week like this. I thought pretty much all the performances were great, but if I had to pick the weakest of them all unfortunately I would say Matt. Intonation wasn't all there at times, and it felt shaky from the getgo. However, I will say that I loved the style with which he sung. If anyone up there sung with complete jazz soul, it was Matt for sure.

Danny's performance was incredible and Adam's was outstanding. They both showcased impressive range, control, and variety in their selections. Granted, I don't generally care for Adam's over-the-top theatrics either, but he's been doing less of 'the same' than anyone else has in this competition (except maybe Kris), so that argument is baseless. Overall, 'Rat Pack' week has been my favorite thus far.

Why is it this season they can sing any song from the "genre" however they want? Adam sings every song, no mater the genre, as a broadway rock show, and never gets called on it. Grand Ole Opry, Motown, Rat Pack – it's all the same style. Remember Season 1 & 2 when they really forced the genre on them, no matter if it was their thing or not? AI has become a gimmick this year...Jamie Foxx as a mentor? He wasn't even born yet when Sinatra/Martin/Davis, Jr were doing their thing! Sheesh...almost as bad as Tarantino.

Danny had his best performance yet tonight. Kris looked H-O-T but didn't sound so great in his upper range. For once Allison didn't scream her song - I enjoyed her performance tonight.

    Adam was Adam.

Although I adore Simon and think he's spot on 80 percent of the time with his comments; I also think he's bored with this show and is playing a bit of an ego game. I think his big praise for Matt was simply a test to see how much he influences voters. Simon has to know the Conventional Wisdom is that this is Matt's week to go; so he gave two thumbs up to see if his opinion alone could sway the masses and keep Matt on stage for another week. I hope he's disappointed by the results.

The emperor isn't wearing any clothes!
Adam has sang the same song for five weeks!
He ignores the different genre's and style and sings his same wailing scream. All of the top five are incredibly talented, I'm just amazed at the blatant favoritism. It seems more impressive to me when the contestants do show what they would do in the different styles. I just cant imagine an album full of Adam.

Great show tonight, everyone did a great job, but...
watching the play back, and zipping thru the dvr (and i might be in the minority here) but Danny could be heading home. Yes, he was good, but boring like he as become the last few weeks. And what is with the "heart hands" is he plugging Lenscrafters?

I am so loving the way Danny sang Rain or Shine. He was great tonight! Adam is a one trick pony . All his songs are starting to sound the same and that Broadway act is just too much for me. He should join Clay Aiken on Broadway in Spamalot. Danny really sang his heart out tonight and blew me away.

Kris and Danny the best by far. Allison much better than expected.

Adam...more of the same...so tired of the same screaming every week and way too Broadway for my taste this week. He was the only one who didn't do the standards justice.

I like Matt but I think it's his week to go, sadly.

America and a vast majority of the posters are either a) not musicians, or b) tone deaf. Matt’s performance tonight was stellar. For those who know anything about the original version of “My Funny Valentine”, you know that it is an incredibly difficult song to sing and only a truly classically-trained, talented musician can even touch it. Matt put his own spin on it. Simon was right on the money – Matt was brilliant. It is clear that vocally, he is the most talented person on the show.

Seriously, the Justin Timberlake comparisons are amateur hour and bush league. I wear a hat cocked to the side on occasion, but by no means am I a “Justin Timberlake wannabe.” I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again, if you want to compare Matt to current artists, compare him to Robin Thicke and/or Glenn Lewis.

Also, for the last time, there is no such term as “pitchy”; it’s simple – you are either sharp or flat. Even the writer for this blog is apparently tone deaf and/or a teeny bopper.

Bottom 3 (based on tonight’s performances):

    1) Danny
    2) Alison
    3) Kris (I like Kris a lot, but his performance tonight was both safe and boring)

I don't know about anyone else, but that fedora was a giant distration with Matt. He sounded (and looked) like a karoke singer. I think Allison is great- though her youth is going to hurt her in this cut-throat competition. I think when it's all said and done, Kris may not win the competion, but like another Chris (Daughtery) he has staying power and will sell albums and pack concert venues. Adam needs to go back to Broadway – amazing voice, but I'm all over the screaming. I think Danny should win.

Simon sure seemed bent on sending Allison on the way.....yet she sang her best tonight....how much heart does he expect a 17 yr old to put into her song....she has only just begun....

Matt may not have swayed many (well, he does me...even with his little pitchy screwup)...I hope he stays and hams it out with Danny..or even Kris. Adam should be heading for the city and Broadway lights..I'll even order the tickets before the show is set up...lol

My top two went from Adam and Allison to Adam and Danny tonight. I think Danny's ability to really emote is giving him the advantage over Allison. She is fantastic and I love her though. Kris was forgetable and Matt should be the one to go.

Danny is pretty good, but not worthy of the sickening praises that the judges constantly throw his way. Could they be any more obvious? Maybe they need to be holding ADAM signs along with some of the audience. The other contestants must want to puke after they "review" Adams's performance EVERY week. I think Danny may be my favorite now, but Allison is still doing good.

I really enjoyed tonites show! The best were Danny, Cris, Allison, and Matt, in that order. Adam was ok tonite. I didn't like his rendition and I'm getting tired of that same high pitched scream he seems to add to every song. Matt will probabely go home.

As always, I thought Adam was head and shoulders above the rest, and Kris brought a sincere and modern turn to a classic. Allison surprised me, and really rose to the challenge, and while I still think Danny is out of his league, I agree that tonight was one of his best performances to date. The one I truly feel fell short was Matt. And I was utterly SHOCKED at Simon's praise - while I frequently feel he is a bit too mean in his critique, I usually agree with his overall assessment. Tonight, though, I completely disagreed with him on the quality of Matt's performance. To me, it was fine, but nothing particularly special.

Wow, Danny and Adam were great. They song their hearts out and both of them left the other three far behind. I am a big Adam fan, but for the first time Danny Gokey absolutely amazed me. He finally showed some passion and his performance was wonderful. The two of them were singing to win this competition and the other three were just trying to get through the song. I can't wait till next week.

How can Adam be a standout any longer? He's not doing anything different. You actually have to "stand out" in order to be a standout. I think he'll go to the finals, although I pray that he is the suprise boot tomorrow. Isn't it lovely that he went last AGAIN? Idol is more obvious this year than a drag queen in Sunday school.
