Top 7: The one on the bottom is ...** SPOILER ALERT: Wednesday night’s blog is close to revealing the contestant leaving the show. Do not continue reading the following entries of the blog if you do not want to know the results. ** We very quickly find out that Lil is safe and Matt has to sing for his chance to stay. He must be nervous because he is not in the best of voice, but some of the judges cheer anyway. I'm on pins and needles. |

Adam stinks....he's overrated. I'm a Matt lover all the way!
Lil, has a wonderful voice, but if you didn't grow up listening to what they would call good music. Then you may not know how to approach or make it likeable to other nationalities. Just like when they said Jennifer Hutson sounded like a cruise ship singer look at her now!!
Lil has what it takes, Matt has so tone other than the rasp he calls a voice and Noop needs to go home also
Lil is good thats why the judges ride her cause they know it.

ANOOP IS THE BEST. ADAM AND CHRIS SUCKED TO ME..
Matt was not the weakest performer this week. That was Lil. Lil is not ignoring the judges. She is simply not capable of following their advice because she fundamentally lacks the skill-set that one can call "musicality" or "musical instinct." Lil sings well, but she doesn't know much about music. She doesn't know what elements give a song it's character, what can be changed, and what cannot. More importantly, she has no sense of what makes a song suitable for her. And unfortunately, she has a limited range of what she can sing. Her version of "What's love got to do with it" was disastrous because she didn't realize that the song is a rock song, not an R&B song. By singing it the way she did, she took out all the edge and sarcasm in the song, thus killing everything that made the song interesting. Allison Iraheta could have done that song, and done it well. The idea of doing a gospel version of 'the Rose" was not a bad idea. No doubt, had Fantasia or Melinda Dollittle done that, they both would have knocked it out the park. But Lil didn't committ to the gospel idea throughout the sond, and had no internal instinct on what to do to the song to make it gospel, but also sound good.
Matt is the 180 of Lil. He knows so much about music styles as a dueling piano player, that he thinks he can do them all. He can't decide what he is, or what fits on him. And sometimes what we see out of him is bad versions of someone else. Matt can sing, and he can arrange, but he needs to decide who and what he is. When he does that, he won't have to try so hard, and he will find his zone.
Succeeeding on AI is more than just being able to sing. The contestants have to have a good sense of music overall, and more specifically, how to fit the music to their style and vocal ability. Anoop is doing a much better job of that than he was. I think Danny is actually not doing such a good job of that. He sings well, and he picks songs he can sing, but every week, the songs sound the same. He is not using his instincts to really make a mark as an individual talent.
The best example of all the parts fitting together is Adam. He has phenominal instincts about music in general. I bet if you looked at his ipod, there would be all kinds of stuff on there, from rock to hip hop to jazz. He also is a PERFORMER, down to his marrow. He sells what he sings with absolute conviction. Furthermore, he has a magnificent vocal instrument over which is has absolute control. Rock music involves screaming sometimes. That's what rockers do. But make no mistake about it, Adam has complete control over every note he sings. He NEVER lets the song get away from him. He pays attention to every detail of his performance, has tons of confidence, and makes us believe every week. He is so unique that no one says, "Adam, you remind me of . . . . " Rather, years from now, people will say to someone else that they sound like Adam Lambert. What a gift he is to AI. He makes it interesting to watch the show.
Allison can sing her tail off, and her musical insticts are not bad. But she looks like a pudgy little kid playing dress-up. That's not really a deal breaker, but it doesn't help her at all. This week's performance was not that great, but she skidded through. She needs to work on personality and identity more than anything else. She needs to find a way to look young and attractive, rather than a total train-wreck.
Anoop's is playing the preppy crooner, and the look is kind of tired. But he is picking songs that show that he can really sing. He also has a fun personality. I think he will be around for a couple more weeks.
Kris is the enigma. His performance of "aint no sunshine" was brilliant. It was smart, edgy, different and beautifully sung. But this week, he picked a song no one knew, and it was a bit timid. Kris has excellent music instincts and I think he is the most likely to be in the final with Adam.
I love this season because of the talent and the variety. I hate the judge thing. Teaming up judges was STUPID. Kara is not adding much to the show.
I'm with you, lisA, I love Anoop and I like Kris too – Matt and Lil should really go home next week, but this is going to be a very difficult week, especially for the rockers and the youngsters (Allison). I love Anoop's voice. Of everyone left, I think he has the best voice. This is a singing contest, not a popularity contest. Anoop should be in the final 3. It's a tough competition because Kris is adorable plus he has a great voice, and who knows what Adam is up to, and Allison has the young rockers voting for her. It will be very interesting to see what song choices our favorites choose.
The judges absolutely got it right in saving Matt. The big problem will be in getting rid of Adam. He is arrogant and full of himself and has no place being on Idol since he has past experience performing on stage. It's not fair to the other contestants. His singing is a disgrace to performers who have worked hard to make a name for themselves in the ways that he attempts to perform songs and absolutely destroys the songs and the lyrics. He has no place being on stage!
I am a long time fan of American Idol. This is the worse season of all.
Even the judges not being able to judge as usual is hurting the show.
Paula needs to keep quiet and quit trying to be cute then they will all have time to speak their opinion.
Adam and Allison, both great, but not my ideal of what an American Idol should be. Maybe, I am wrong and just to old for their type of music and fashion.
Matt may be good but no Better than Scott. I was a Scott fan but knew he really didn't have a great chance to win it all so I thought the Judges made the right decision by not saving him. I think the same for Matt. I don't think they should have wasted the save on Matt because I really don't think he has a shot at the Final two.
Wrong, Wrong, Wrong! Matt should have stayed, yes, but Lil, though gorgeous, cannot sing on key! Not once has she been on key since the tryouts! Lose them both next week.
The judges made the right decision last night. I like Matt. No offense, although I really like Anoop, I don't think he is too unique. Nice voice, but not inique, Matt has that soulful voice and could be great with songs like Jason Mraz. Matt needs to have more confidence in himself that is his problem. I know a lot of people worship Adam but common people this guy has been on so many broadway shows (yeah of course he is comfortable on the stage) he is a great showman, but when you really listen to his voice, all he does is scream out and wear heavier eyeliner each week...Rocky Horror show was the correct term. AI is about the amateur talent trying to be discovered. Adam is not an amateur and very theatrical. Lil has a great voice, but needs to lose the attitude, that is what is turning people off. Kris and Danny are my favorites. But no matter what, it is still not who wins at the end, but who is a huge success. Jennifer Hudson is a perfect example.
Lil must be being voted on by votefortheworste.com. This is crazy. I would love to see Allison go all the way. She has more carisma than any of them. As for Adam...I really liked him until I saw his myspace page. This guy is a sicko freak and is no way an "American Idol" , no role model for anyone.
After seeing l'il still make it through I wonder what America is voting on? Certainly not performances. She was a first favorite of mine but week after week she falls flat. Send her home already and put us out of our misery! Adam rocked as always. I like Matt but the save should have been saved for Allison or Kris although I don't see them being in the bottom three until there is only three contestants left. Adam will never be in the bottom anything cause he is going to win hands down. So they might as well have used it on Matt to give him one more shot.
So very happy to see Matt move forward! Love that man!
I'm thrilled that Matt was saved & definitely think that it's the right choice.... he's hugely talented & had a great night! the boy can sing & he's hot too! Yea judges! Tho' why do 2 have to go next week?
Lil couldn't even sing Motown. What makes you think she'll survive Disco week?? She needs to go! Her departure is long overdue.
After dogging Lil last night, Simon was going to use the save to save Lil Rounds if she had been voted off in order to avoid the race charge that several had accused him of. He even made a big deal at the end to make sure she and America knew that Lil was the one he was going to vote to save. It was actually smart that they used the save this week so they won't be faced with the same decision next week. Bottom three is still Matt,Lil, and even though I think he can sing if he picks the right song, Anoop.
i so think lil should have went home!!! matt is great.and i think by saving him they made the perfect choice. but we will all see in the end.
Why does America keep saving Lil? When is the last time she had a decent performance?
Take the emmy back from Jennifer. No emotional connection in her performance. If she's going to have superstar status she should perform like one. Miley made her look like an amature. Talking about her emmy again after Ryan spent soooooo much time in the intro talking about it showed her to be the self absorbed person she is. A little humility would suit her well.
LIL is by far the WORST singer and should have been sent home before the Top 13 were announced....She is HORRIBLE....Next week she will join Anoop on the Greyhound bus home....

Yikes they used the save, that is just horrible. I had waited if it were needed for Allison or Adam. Too bad, too late now.
What is wrong with people! Lil should have been sent home weeks ago. Why are they keeping her around?! I don't get it. Matt isn't the best singer on the show but is better than Lil.
WHAT???? That guy does NOT deserve to be saved. He isn't original and isn't even that good a singer. He is ALMOST good-and his notes are always shaky like he is trying to hard. On the other hand-it isn't exactly like there are a bunch of people worth saving this season. A couple of people are standouts but the rest are just terrible...(Megan Joy over Ju-not-are you kidding me?)
No,Matt should of been out. And you're right,Adam will rock the house again next week! He makes very wise song choices.

Come on finally only one singer will win so why should we save some one!! I guess they were hoping somebody else to be gone tonight and since he was not gonne it was not fare to Math to leave!!

Sorry , but I think to do the save this early is a mistake. Matt was weak last night and should have been in the bottom three. If Adam or Alicia had been in the bottom I could see using it , but not Matt.
why didnt they keep the save till the last week they can use it. Matt is not the best singer. he wont win. Next week might be anoop going, with the way america is voting. Why didnt they keep the save for someone with an incredible voice who just may need to work a bit more on stage presence, liek anoop or allison, but to save matt is foolish....
America please send matt home next week and lil...
and let kris and anoop duel it out for 5 th place 🙂

Wow! I can't believe the judges saved Matt. He is sweet when he cried but now I am nervous becausse two people are going home next week. This is my prediction: next week Adam will rock out and Lil and Anoop will go home. Go Adam Lambert!
Lil should have been the one singing for her life, not Matt. But I do agree with Simon on both account tonight, it was the right bottom three and Matt has no chance of winning this competition. Danny and Adam would have to withdraw from the competition for Matt to have a chance.
Matt saved! Thank goodness its out of the way.... and the real Idol competition starts next week!

Next week is disco week! I am so excited because Adam Lambert is going to be amazing! That is his specialty.
