Top 7: Oh, what a night!** SPOILER ALERT: Wednesday night’s blog reveals the final result of the show. Do not continue reading the following entries of the blog if you do not want to know the result. ** The results show turned out to be way more exciting than the performances. Who'da thunk it? The judges stepped up and used their save, which means Matt Giraud gets another week to try and convince viewers he has what it takes to be the next "American Idol." Did they make the right choice? anyone who thinks adam is overrated and/or shouldn't win, is absolutely crazy. maybe you all need to learn about talent or music.wow.you guys are reeeallly crazy. adam is soo far out of everyone's league

I think they shouldn't save Matt. I don't think it's a good idea for judges to save anybody. I don't want to see it next year. If people vote you out, then you are OUT. no question to aske
My call to the finish, is Matt, Kris and Adam, although I think Adam is over rated, he is not really any better than Matt and Kris. Allison should also be in the top five Danny is another Taylor Hicks, Lil and Anoop should be gone, Great decision on the judges part to save Matt, and yes he could win!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fact is, Matt will NOT win so why waste the save? I think they did it for the drama. I do not really like Matt (he is boring and a Justin Timberlake wannabe) but Lil should have been going home before him. She has not done well for at least four weeks and has a bad attitude. I guess it really doesn't matter because they both will be going home within the next couple weeks anyway.

@Parker: Man, that's an overly positive comment, which is great. It doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the comments here, which is mostly bashing contestants and judges and Ryan and the show's format, etc. (Nothing wrong with that either, frankly.)
Disco week will be interesting to say the least. As someone mentioned above, the frontrunners last season struggled with this genre. I can actually see Lil excelling next week given that she picks a song that suits her strong points. God knows what Adam's gonna do, but it'll be an adventure for sure. I can't really imagine any of the others performing disco. In my opinion, it's just not a good genre to pull from.
Adam is really good.
Matt should not have been saved.
America got it right for the bottom 2 (Matt and Lil), but I think Anoop is better than Chris and Gokey.

Everybody : The save was only good thru next week. Guess what bottom three next week, Lil, Anoop & Matt. He still gets saved.
Adam will soon cut his deal with the show to exit gracefully so he can pursue his own career and not have to conform to the machine.
Save: I think next week would have been the last time they could have used it anyway? Not sure.
Lil has nine lives and has used all 9 now.

So glad they saved Matt! He has been one of my favorites even before he was in the wild card round, so I have been rooting for him the whole time.
Too many people doing a pity party on Lil b/c of all her crying and just because she has 3 small children. She is not very good.. bye bye lil.
I am sure many are wondering why they used the save now, but they only have 2 more weeks to do it. People say why save Matt if Simon says he will never win? I think everyone knows that Adam is going to win anyway, so my as well use the save now.

I agree 100%, that was the only song he performed that I liked... it is my favorite of the competition so far. Even though I loved that one performance, everything else has been painful with that horrible screech he has ended every other song with.
Andrea....You said "Three said yes but the british judge said no so they sent him home" about your son. If 3 out 4 said yes, then he would have gone through no matter if Simon said no or not. It has to be unanimous.
To one who knows someone at the network, " the public voting" does not determine the real winner nor the bottom 3 each week. It is all for ratings only, so next time you are on your phone and or texting, just remember it is the producers final decision not ours. They do like to keep us in suspense so we will tune in.
Yes I think they got it right last night saving Matt!! Anyone else worth saving will probably never be in the bottom three anyway. It's way past time for Lil to go home, and Anoop should probably be after her. Matt probably won't win, but he still didn't deserve to go home.
Why did the judges use their save this week? Well, the way things were going, Lil would be in the bottom 2/3 for the next couple of weeks and I don't think Simon wanted to use it for her. So, if the voting (and singing) stays the same, both Lil and Matt will head home next week.
I don't believe they should have the save. America got it right. The judges have their time to vote during the elimination weeks. At this point the win depends on America's votes. The creator of these show (Simon Cowell) created America's Got Talent and all the "Got Talent" shows world wide so that the win depends on the judges. He should let the rules for American Idol remain as it was.
Doesn't really matter. Matt won't win in the end so next week he and somone else (probably Lil) will go. Adam is going to win in the end.+

Am I right or not? The save had to be used last night or next week. Next week it might have saved Lil. Matt and her will probably be gone next week anyhow. Unless Anoop messes up again. Adam I think is a slam dunk and will win it all.
What a season it has been! Very enjoyable for all of us at home watching. I personally salute Simon for his honestly albeit sometimes abrupt. All of the contestents have talent (without question) but the jist of the show is to whom they place the honor as the 'American Idol' we all love with his/her passions following through.
At times it makes seems ridiculous to guess who will win. My vote goes to #1 Danny #2 Adam #3 Kris. My best to everyone!
Send Danny home too along with lil. His fake smiles, fake "nice" attitude, trying to get more sympathy out of his wife's death........ fake fake fake. Not to mention(since its supposedly a singing competition) – his voice sounds rough and feels like he is screaming just like Allison.
Disco! Wow, that should put Danny, Anoop and Lil in the bottom 3. I like Anoop's singing but he just doesnt seem to have the package that promises record breaking albums but he is a good singer.
I agree with Sneater. I could take Randy's place, "yo, dog, it didn't work for me ya know." or "yo, dog, that was tight" I like you Randy, but you sound like an idiot. Kara usually does a decent critique. Simon is the only one who truthfully speaks his mind. Last, and least, Paula. GET RID OF HER! She's ridiculous. Her incoherent babbling is excrutiating.
The save is to make some sense out of the loser singing the song they lost with, and to prevent a star (like Adam) from going home too soon (as might have happened after Adam's performance was not caught on DVRs).
Matt is no star and should not have been saved. But, the judges had to use a save this season to make the whole idea plausible. And, they would not have saved Lil.
Mo, you are so right. This season sucks. The fourth judge is crazy and that's why the show runs over. If Simon leaves, the show will fold up. He's the only judge who tells the truth; the others, well who cares about them. Randy has no vocabulary. And for the saves, I thought America votes? The talking and shouting among the judges is ridiculous to this year. The show is definitely going down hill.
I think the save was used strategically. There are only two weeks left for the save and of the bottom three, they all could potentially go next week depending on their performances. So what the save does, is give Anoop, Lil and Matt another chance to show that they can perform. That's it. The reason Matt should have been kept in, despite the fact he gave a pretty awful performance... is that he is by no means a karaoke singer. For example, Danny or Lil, great singers, have been turning in the original renditions of every song they sing, without adding anything or really showing any type of artistry. You know what you are going to get once you hear their song announced. As for Adam, Matt and even Chris... even when you hear the song announced, you are still curious about what they will do with it.

Matt has had my vote each week. I have not heard a bad performance from him yet this season. The judges made a wise decision saving him last night. Matt did not deserve to be in the bottom three at all this season. Adam is getting stale with his singing but cannot do any wrong according to the judges. He is talented but at times his singing performance is not that great, same goes for Danny. It is a shame the voting system is not limited to one call only. I know some that are so obsessed with a contestant that they redial for 2 hours for one contestant.
Anyway, Matt, Kris and Allison will have a successful career ahead of them after the "Adam and Danny show" is over with.
Cannot wait to see the flops on Disco week next Tuesday. Should be interesting. This may be the only week Lil does perform well!
Adam is no David Cook, yet he tries so hard. He just can't measure up.
I don't understand how people can say Anoop should go – he has a crystal clear, beautiful voice. His song Tuesday night gave me goose bumps. He does need some enthusiasm to come through, but I think he has the best voice of everyone, including Adam who is going to win. If he doesn't win, either Kris, Allison, or Danny will, but if this is a singing contest, Anoop should win. This disco week is usually horrendous. I remember last year, watching David Cook (imagine it if you missed it,) singing disco. Archuletta had a problem with that week as well, but they still went on to win. I can't wait to see what Adam does with disco, and of course, Anoop.
How many voted for Matt? Well, you see, that's why he should have been voted off. It's not nice, but it's the reality of the show...
America got the bottom 3 correct, however they were not in the right order. Lil should have been sent packing last night. Hopefully Lil & Anoop go next week. Matt is very talented but I don't think he has what it takes like some of the others. I am actually rooting for him to go as far as he can. Lil & Anoop's days are both numbered. Kris has his hit or miss performances. He was great this week but awful the previous week. Depending on what kind of week he has, he could be in the bottom 3 if he doesn't deliver. I think it will come down to Danny, Adam & Allison for the final 3.
I am so over Idol. I think they made a terrible mistake. My son Devan tried out for Idol. He made it to the fourth round. Three said yes but the british judge said no so they sent him home. My son can sing HUGE GIGANTIC CIRCLES around every person on that stage and that is no joke. They already have an idea of who is going to win. I mean one of the contestants has been on broadway and is going back on broadway when the show is over! Go figure... They already know who is going to win they are just an unknown and the show is trying to get their name out there. I also think the show is racist. Look every season but 1 there has only been 1 black person in the top 10 and wow anup is in the top ten and keeps being saved. He is not that great. Most of those singers are forgettable yet they are still there. RIDICULOUS. The judges are lousy and they have no idea what they are talking about! matt wont be the next american idol but he has alot better chance then lil rounds or anoop. i was praying one of them would get voted off. and the judges didnt waste the save because adam and the others are good, they wont get voted off, but anoop and rounds could like they always are, i cant stand them they dont suck but there not that good. america got it wrong trying to vote matt off, cuz it should of been lil rounds. america will come to there sences soon before the show is over.
America had it right. Matt, Lil and Anoop should be in the bottom three. They will be the next three to go. They all have talent, just not enough. Adam does have a unique voice and is amazingly talented but I don't believe he will be anywhere near as successful as some of the other idol winners and near winners. He's simply not mainstream enough with the cross-dressing, makeup and fingernail polish. He's a gifted singer but entirely too theatrical for my tastes. Should be interesting to watch.

I'm glad they saved Matt.... otherwise we would have known the "save" would be used next week. This is a chance for the shows producers to see if this "save" thing works. If Matt pulls off a great performance, we could see two others going home.
I wouldn't have saved Matt. He's not as good as some of the others. I thought Lil should have gone before Matt, but I wouldn't have saved either one of them. The only ones I would save would be Adam, Danny, Kris and Allison.
Stop saying American got it right or wrong. Everyone has their opionion as to who should stay and who should go and they have that right. Adam will take all. Allison second. That's all that matters. Fighting over the others is irrelevant.
Is that whole campaign to "Vote for the worst" still a real threat? If so, is that what's saving Lil and Anoop?
Although Matt Giraud is a good singer, I find it hard to think of him as the next American Idol, period....There are other singers in this competition that are way better. ( just my opinion )they should have used there save for someone who really needed it.

They had to use the save. They only had this week or next left to use it and they couldn't risk having to save Lil or Anoop next week. This year is so blah...the only one who stands out is Adam and all of his versions have been stolen from better artists and then they fall all over him like he's some sort of musical genius. All he is is a musical plagiarist.
Matt and Lil will both be sent home if they don't pick the right friggin songs! Both are really talented, but they need to stick to singing what they are great at. R&B.
The save was stupid and a waste, but maybe it was better for them to get the whole "save" drama out fo the way and finally over with.
Matt is only so-so. He never leaves a lasting impression. He will not win Idol.

Think of past Idol winners who are really in the mainstream now. Carrie Underwood. So, people; think about it!!! Adam does not and never will have that kind of appeal. He's stealing a lot of attention (that should go to others who deserve it more) with his years of well groomed experience on off-broadway, his perfected voice training, his slick show-boating, and high-note screaming; and for some reason, a lot of people really like him. Why, is beyond me....
Absolutely. When I checked the performances on Youtube Matt was one of only two that I let finish. Dare I say that he's a dark horse contender? Yes, I will say it. Simon, I have a feeling Matt might surprise you yet. The dream boy there hit some bad notes in his performance and that might come back on him and who else might sneak by when that happens? Matt.
I think they made a mistake saving Matt. Yes, he sings well, but what if Adam or Allison get voted off? Or even Gokey? Yeah, they should have held onto that save a little longer... hopefully, they won't be sorry they used it this time!
I agreed with Simon – he has absolutely no chance of winning because he isn't in the same league as a couple of the others. It was a wasted save. Paula and Kara have been huge fans of him from the start, while Simon and Randy have been lukewarm or off and on with him. I don't think he is any worse than Anoop or Lil, but I would like to think that they would have only used a save on someone who actually could have won the competition. They never had to use the save. But, in the grand scheme it will probably be a "who cares" because he will likely just be voted off again next week.

THE SAVE? There was so much hype about the SAVE on all the entertainment shows that it was a given it was going to be used. Not to mention the show was so boring Tuesday (except Adam!) the judges owed the audience something.
Danny is not that great either, but I'd rather listen to Danny than Adam the flaming squaking screamer, ugh!
Unless I'm missing something, the goal of American Idol is to see which singer can cram 14 alternating ascending and descending notes into a 1 second span of time. This person is then dubbed 'The Winner'. ugh. Would someone out there PLEASE get a clue. I know, I know 90% of the country loves this show. My mistake, that must mean its terrific.
As someone who knew Matt in his pre-idol days, I was thrilled to see them save him. He is a brilliant performer and musician and won't take this second chance for granted. He's got my vote!!!!
It was a stunt to draw viewers. Big Deal. I'm sure Matt is thrilled, but he's not going to win Idol, he's very mediocre. Now two go home next week and, unless Matt really turns it around, he will be one of them I'm sure. Same difference. Really stupid....
Lil needs to go back to her short edgy hair cut and attitude! She's a great singer but ever since she went conventional with her look her performances have been boring and conventional too...it's like her attitude followed her style from cool & modern to conservative & dated.
Having J Hudson back should have reminded the judges of what crazy things can happen – how great talent can be voted off because of uncontrollable circumstances (not necessarily votes). I like Matt (and I'd probably buy an album by him) but he's not going to win this competition so why use the save when we might need it for some crazy, unforeseen reason in the next 2 weeks?
Look at the end of the line nor. Matt. Lil or Anup are going to make it so i wouldn't use the save I would had waited in case Gockey or Lambert got magicly voted of on week 5. ...that is the last week this is a Two man raise with the red head girl as a dark horse...

Why does everyone admire Adam so much? I don't get it. He is WAY too over the top with his show girl persona, it's totally annoying and grating on the senses.

I think the judges used the save to early. You can tell Matt had Paula and Kara already in his pocket *rollseyes* and I'm guessing Randy put in the overruling verdict cause Simon was not ready to give him another chance but he was overruled. It comes with a twist and a great one...You didn't think they were going to actually do this without one did you? So, 2 people go home next week which I think is great. It catches up from this past week and acts as if someone did get voted off last night. Matt got lucky...He is not a better singer than Lil...He's just another slow singing Justin Timberlake look alike that all the girls go gaga over. I don't like what Simon said on the show Tuesday night about Allison being the only chance for the girls...Yes, there are only 2 of them...Lil and Allison but Allison is growing old on me. I love rock music and like the rocker chic attitude but her voice is too grainy and scratchy and it's getting old. She sounds like she always has a sore throat or something. We'll see what happens next week...Looks like another lame, boring week with disco. We'll see how everybody does....
are they freaking crazyyyy? I think that matt is a great performer. he has excellent stage presence, and a unique voice but i do believe that the judges used their save too early in the compititon. The judges will be kicking themselves when one of the potential top three [adam, allison, and danny] get voted off when america gets it wrong, which happens at least once a season. this is the first year we have had the save, and me blew it. Allison has been in the botton three twice and i strongly believe she and adam have much more raw, natural talent then all of the others. oh well i guess it will be lessoned learned.

And, great, Disco night next week. Gag me Adam will be in his element....GREAT....I'll have my barf bag ready. Adam was so irritating to watch and listen to this week, it was gag-me awful.....
I think Matt is a great singer/performer with the potential to be a star. However, Simon was 100% right when he said Matt doesn't stand a chance of winning the competition. Because I enjoy Matt, I'm glad they kept him around for another week, and I hope he stays even longer than that. But, he really doesn't have a chance to win, so I wish they had waited to see how next week goes.

That was a very stupid move. Matt was terrible and should have gone home. Next week is disco and I can't imagine Allison, Danny or Kris doing that well on disco, so two of them could be in the bottom and go home, when they are overall three of the best along with Adam. Paula seemed a little bit "druggy" last night, so it seem that she and Kara talked Simon into doing something that he knew was not right.

I thought they went too early with the save. I like Matt, but I don't feel he is a legitimate threat to win. They should have held it back for one of the Big Three (Adam, Danny, Allison).
To all of you who think Lil should have went home this week:
This is the very 1st week that I have voted and YES I voted to keep Lil in it. I have liked Lil since the auditions. Is she American Idol material? Probably not right now but I think EVERYONE deserves a 2nd chance. (As we saw, Matt got a 2nd chance.) If she can step it up next week that would be great and if she doesn't, then it will prove that she is not ready.
I usually vote every week but this season is has just too good of talent. I think deep down I am rooting for Adam but he will have his hands full with Allsion.
I'm glad that the judges saved Matt. He is a good singer. Adam is phenomenal! Lil needs to bring it & stop being nervous; maybe if she dressed more comfortably without heels, etc she could relax & really concentrate on using the voice range that she has. Otherwise, she will be sent home. I think that Matt, Danny, & Anoop will be the final 3 contestants.
I think Matt Gerard is a really good singer, but I think they should have kept the saved for a later time. He has been in the bottom several times. There are 3 singers better than him. They should have saved it for someone who could possibly win. He's gonna have to really step it up. I have a feeling he will be voted off next week if he doesn't!
yes i am glad they saved him. no one else on the show would be worth saving because we know Adam Lambert is coming in first so he will never need a save unless he does extremely horrible and i don't think the crowds will turn on him that one time. everyone else won't need it and i thought he deserved to stay the judges made the right choice
I think America has mostly made the right choices on who to send home. I think Matt is at a bit of a disadvantage not being from a major city and that has hurt his vote count. I like Matt and would put him in the top 5, but not the top 3. I have no problem with him being saved because I think America will get it right in the end. If not the producers will just re-write the rules...
I think Matt is wonderful, but I think that the judges save should not have been used yet. I would rather have seen it used for one of the others if necessary. To me Allison, Danny, Adam, and Kris are much better singers and should have been the ones that the judges save would be used for. Lil is a tremendous singer but she has had difficulty with choosing the correct songs.

I really like Anoop's voice, but I can't look at him. The sleepy eyes, the Bert-from-Sesame-Street eyebrows, the gawky stage presence, the whack wardrobe...yikes. But on the basis of voice alone, I think he's far better than Matt or Lil.

The save just means Matt gets to make a fool of himself during next week's disco theme. With two going home next week hopefully we can finally say by to the terrible and mouthy Lil. And Matt.

While I think that Lil should have gone home last night, I'm confused as to why the judges would save someone who isn't going to win the competition. Seriously, who thinks Matt is going to win this year? So why waste the save on him? I'd rather see it not used at all than waste it on someone who has no chance of winning. He'll probably be going home next week, along with Lil most likely.
One judge too many. She detracts from show. Judges allowed to cancel out voting has ruined show. Hope no one votes anymore. No wonder Simon wants to bail. American Idol is on its way down. Sad! Three judges was enough and took up enough time. Having only 2 judges for each really spoils the effect. This is not a good year. Adam is the only thing they have going for them.
The thing I can't figure out is how Kris manages to stay in the competition week after week, and is never in the bottom 3. He has zero personality on stage, his voice is not bad but certainly not great, 5 minutes after he goes off stage I couldn't tell you what song he sang! And Lil needs to go regardless of how cute her kids are..she will be ok now as I'm sure there is a place for her in the music industry but she will never be a star unless she gets a break on broadway. I too am glad that the "save" is over, I don't think it was fair to the competitor who had to stand in front of the judges and sing while they were huddled together in dicussion....how did they know how well/poorly they sang when they were chattering like magpies?
I'm glad they saved Matt. I know he won't be the next American Idol, but it did not deserve to go home yet. He is talented and someone should snatch him up. The one who should go home is LIL!!!!! What a mess. She has not had a good week yet. That should tell you something.
I think he should have been safe from the beginning. I think it was Lils turn to get the boot.
Don't you all realize this "save" gimmick had to be used this week – it's all marketing! Come up with a good idea and determine where it really needs to be used letting the people think that they had something to do with it. If they didn't use it this week, that left only next week and the chance of loosing someone they really wanted in the top 5. Now they can utterly predict who the two bottom will be and get who they want in the top 5. Don't think for one minute that this hasn't been talked about behind the scenes. There's others I would like to see go before Matt...Sorry Anoop and Lil...you are probably going home next week.
IMO..they made the right choice by keeping Matt... he has a great voice – unfortunately, and as much as I like Lil, she's lost some umph and still hasn't found her niche. I wonder how she feels knowing that if it were her, she wouldn't be coming back next week? Anoop... I like, but don't think he has what it takes.
Is America tone deaf and talent blind? Anoop is atrocious. He is the epitome of why I am an intermittent American Idol viewer – it's a big karaoke contest. Anoop has no prayer of winning this contest. We keep hearing about Lil's "potential", but I am yet to hear a performance that has blown me away. Danny is awful. He reminds me of the show choir kids in high school. Can he carry a tune? Sure. But, do I want to hear an entire album of a show choir-quality voice? Absolutely not. Danny needs to go home. He is essentially Taylor Hicks all over again; we know how that worked out.
The save was properly used on Matt. For anyone who knows the first thing about music, it is clear that as an overall talent, he is one of the most talented musicians on the show. If you like Robin Thicke and/or Justin Timberlake, then you like Matt. He has the same sound, talent and pop appeal. I just can't imagine him going home before Anoop, Lil or Danny.

he's been doing to the piano bar thing forever. he's a very well crafted singer. he's a very talented piano player. he's going to go far in the biz.
my problem is this: america is supposed to vote. this first time save rule was invented strictly for matt g. he was saved when he was voted out of the top ten (they made it a top 13 – and not to make it TOO obvious, they saved anoop as well), and now he's been saved by his own rule. here's why it's so dumb and why i won't be watching:
1.) simon said that his performance last night was worse than the performance that got him voted off - based on that, i like him, but he should be gone.
2.) simon also said that he doesn't believe that matt has a shot to win the whole thing - based on that, why even save him??! i believe simon voiced his opinion but kowtowed to American Idol writers who wanted to keep the suspense and intrigue going. they've been effing with matt g ever since the top 13 episode.
i like you matt. i hate this show. i hope you win. but i hope you don't take too much flack over it being fixed.
If Lil had the lowest vote, the judges would have not used the save option. Lil and Anoop/or someone else will be gone next week and there is no more saving. They really would have the right song choices to make it to the finals.
I just want to say that I think Anoop has a beautiful voice but he does not have the fans that some of the others do. He needs to bring it on next week because I personally think that he will be in the top 3. I think the winner is already apparent but a few years ago when Chris Daughtery went home we were all surprised. Personally I think Adam is overrated and he yells and screams instead of singing. I will say that the guys this season are the most talented of any year yet and I think they all deserve a contract.

Bad move. The only logical explanation is that the judges were forced to do this. And then the save would be news instead of the fact that the show can't seem to keep inside 60 minutes. I think that's the real travesty is that because of all the fluff the crux of the show has been sacrificed. Let the idol contestants sing and ALL the judges judge.

What a total waste of time for the show, this overthrow idea is stupid. It takes away any drama in the show and as for the vote, the only people to make aything from this weeks exercise was the Phone companys.

I think he is a very nice fellopw and a decent singer, but they should have kept the SAVE for when the home audience doesn't get one of Adams performances. I say that becasue eventually they won't get it, and if ever there was a clear winner from the start, it is this kid. Lokk for him in one of Terantinos movies soon.

No matter who lost last night, the judges were going to save them. If they waited until next week, America would have known that they would save the contestant that had the lowest number of votes. Therefore, to keep a little surprise in the game, the judges had to use the save last night.
They made a good choice, given the situation. BUT disco week will be a good week to sift through them and get rid of the weak ones. Hopefully that means Anoop, Lil, or Adam (2 of the 3) will go home.
"What if Allison or Gokey or ADAM end up in the bottom two next week by some fluke (or not fluke–Allison’s been there before)? They’re toast." That’s why I love the save being used this week, hopefully Adam messes up enough that he is sent back to broadway. I just can’t stand that screeching shreak in his voice that he ends all songs with. He is a great live performer, but I can’t see him translating well on the radio… I’ll definitely be changing the channel if he doesn’t polish off that annoying sound.
I would almost have to agree with IceT; it all did seem somewhat fixed that Matt was going to be saved. At any rate, I'm happy he's staying, but he probably won't last much longer nor wil Lil. Let's hope that disco week will be better, but I'm not crossing any fingers. The season's beginning to lose its luster for me.
Seeing as how this will probably be Simon's last season on American Idol (I don't expect him to want to keep traveling back and forth across the pond after his contract expires), I'm not exactly sure how the show will fare in later seasons. But we'll leave that for another day.
@Stephanie, unfortunately, that's the way people will be when it comes to the anonymity of the internet. As long as people hide behind their computer screens, they can talk as much bull about anything as they want. That and most people are just mean-spirited and cynical in general.
No, I don't think that Matt should have been saved. With Disco week coming up...he is sure to be gone next week. He is very talented..but not Idol material at this point. Not with Adam, Danny or Allison in the competition! With that being said, If it were Lil in Matt's place..I could see them saving her..she will probably have her only good week during Disco week!!! (and she as well needs to go in my humble opinion) As far as I am concerned..it is an Adam – Danny with a possibility of Allison being in the top 3 competition! It can go to any of them.
The save was used last night for ratings! Think about it. More press and anticipation about 2 going home next week. I love Adam. He gives this show everything they never had before. He has it all. He is what they have been looking for all these years. Love him or not we are all talking about him. No need to look any longer. They can now end American Idol with Adam!!!
Matt is one of the best artists/contestants on the show. He may not be the most experienced, but in terms of natural talent he's got what it takes, plus some!! He deserves to make it farther in the competition and I think he'll make the most of his 2nd chance.
Adam - Please sing Super Freak for disco night next week. It would be a great song for your voice and would really get the audience going.
I am ready for Lil Rounds to go. She is not good enough to still be in there in my opinion. I think Matt is much better than she is.
I don't think they should have wasted their "save" this early in the show. There are definitely a couple that are much better than Matt. I would be worried now that one of the better ones could be sent to the bottom and would be much more worthy of being saved. Hope it wasn't a mistake.
Did anyone notice that it seemed to be the "Matt show" right from the very beginning of last night's result show? He was the star of the weird magazine commerical and he just seemed to be on the screen for an awful lot of the time during all the nonsense pre-results filler. I said to my husband, "I bet he's going home- that's why they're showing him so much." (Ever notice that Adam gets the very very least on-screen time of the bunch?) Then, what do you know? He's voted off! But then wait... he's back? What's the point of voting? He'll be in the bottom again next week so we'll lose him and Lil together next week. And why oh why do we have to have disco week?! Does anyone want to hear this? Not really. It will be horrendous. Why bother?
Matt is an amazing singer and deserved to be saved. How far he will get from here on out remains to be seen but I don't think we've heard the best he can do. If he picks the right songs and keeps his nerves under control he could make it to the final 3.

Matt is great, but it is a sure thing that he won't make it past Adam, Danny or Allison. I remember the shock when Daughtry was voted out. Surely if there was a "save" then Chris would have won Idol that year. I wish the judges would have saved the "save" for one that would have the chance of winning!
The one to go should have been Lil. Political reasons involving Randy Jackson is the only reason she is still in it to begin with. She has sang sour note after sour note each week. Simon is correct when he said Matt will not win the competion. I agree with that. I also agree that Lil won't either.

Wasted Save – Matt won't win the competition so the save was really unnecessary. The judges should have saved Alexis Grace in the beginning. She had more of a shot to be there at the end than those that are there now. (except Adam). Let's face it Adam has won the competition so saving anyone at this point is pointless.

I really don't understand how Matt or Lil got this far! They are not GREAT singers. Good but not Idol-star level. Of all the 1,000's of people who auditioned this year I was surprised that this was the best they could find.

I think the judges wasted their save this week. Matt is definitely not going to be the next AI so why did they do that. They should have saved it in case Adam needed it which I don't think he will because he has everything it takes to make it to the top.

It's about time everyone woke up to reality. Adam is THE MOST professional singer to ever grace the stage of American Idol. He represents all that 'Idol' is about and deserves to win. As for Matt – it is obvious that he, Anoop and Lil are next out.
I almost feel sorry for Lil as I don't think she realizes how bad she sings and OH!, her attitude!! The only reason she's still in is because of the vast number of votes attributed to the Vote For The Worst campaign. How embarrassing for her. And she said she thought she was good this week. Ugh!

I agree with those who say they used their 'save' too soon. Matt's OK but I don't really think he will make it into the final 3 or 4. He doesn't seem to have much charisma, and while his singing is OK there is nothing about him that really stands out and screams 'Star!'. They should have just let him go. I don't see what he can do to bring it up a level. I was surprised Lil didn't go home. She just hasn't brought it to the show for the last few weeks. I like Anoop better than she or Matt. But Matt's talent doesn't begin to compare with Adam's or Allison, or even Kris. I think they will be the final 3. I know this is kind of petty, but that mole or whatever it is on Matt's forehead drives me nuts! Why in the world didn't he have it removed long ago? It's really distracting on a performer. However, now that they HAVE used their save, does anyone think it will make the show more suspenseful?
The judges should have picked their favorite (Adam) and made the decision to only use the save on him. What is the point of saving someone who the judges don't think can or should win? They created the save because they hated that people like Fantasia were being voted off prematurely. Matt is no Fantasia. Simon said himself that Matt can't win. So the save is being used on someone simply because the judges think he's being sent home a little too soon? If Adam gets voted off in upcoming weeks, the judges will be kicking themselves for wasting the save.

The season is already over, and Adam has won. We're just trying to figure out the order in which to tell the rest of the contestants.
The save this week was predetermined. You could feel it, from Ryans overemphasizing of Matts last chance, to the judges not even listening to it. This was a planned ratings decision.
What a night indeed! It was a total waste of air time. Simon should really consider if his time on the US show is worth it. Given that two of the absent-minded female judges cannot put together a solid front, or even capable of completing a sentence, the show has fallen at it's worst. We all know that Adam will come out as the winner, and rightfully deserves to. He is the only one who has shown commitment, desire and complete dedication.
I realize as American's we have the constitutional right to differ on opinions, but holy mackeral some of you people are MEAN, just downright mean. Because you don't like someone is no reason for the utter disrespect. I only hope if or when you have children, you don't show them it's alright to disrespect someone because you don't like something.

Although I absolutely love Matt, I think it was time for him to leave. I believe the SAVE was wasted. There are so many other contestants that might need the SAVE. Using the judges option last night was a mistake, IMHO; Simon is correct in his assessment that Matt has no chance to be in the final. I believe it will come down to Allison, Adam & Danny in the final three, and as another commentator observed, the judges "save" should be reserved for the final three week.
For all those who insist that all Adam does is 'scream', you obviously didn't listen to his rendition of 'Mad World', perhaps the best Idol performance ever. Give credit where credit is due, even if you don't like the guy. Maybe, if you bother to listen to some of his interviews, you'll come to realize that he is humble, extremely intelligent, and not at all like the crazy person you make him out to be. He is a performer and an incredible artist who gives 110% each and every time he steps on the stage. And to those who hate him just because they think he is gay, you are totally ridiculous, not to mention ignorant. Take a good look at yourselves, I am sure you could find some serious flaws...........!

Even if Adam got bounced next week, his career will take off. Ironically, about a month after he signed on with American Idol he was offered a starring role in a new Broadway musical called Spiderman. He had to turn it down. After spending a year and a half toiling in Wicked, this generally would have been the ultimate reward.
Even though, yes, he is gay, there is something about Adam that is just so darn attractive to us women. Yes, he is easy to look at, but it is more then that-he has an inner sweetness, and shyness, and a funny honest personality-Charisma! He just has the IT factor in every way.
I also love that he sings WHAT he wants, the WAY he wants. Perhaps that is why he is so good-he is no longer trying to impress anyone, just entertain. He never fails to put on a show, and i wonder how many people tune in just to see what Adam does. i know i didn't even like AI until this year. Adam saved this show from jumping the shark. (Although why he did that horrible Cher number in hollywood....)
Matt Giraud has a lot of talent and will go on to a music career, but he has made some bad choices. I think the save will delay the inevitable, he will be voted out.

Why don't they just fast forward to Adam winning the Idol. He's the best pure and simple, nobody can touch him. I couldn't stand him when he got through to the top 21 but boy oh boy he's certainly shown his talents. I would go and see him perform in a heartbeat. Top 3 are as folows 3 Danny 2 chris 1 Adam. I'd bet money on it and win.
Great show; great performances. But, I do not ink think the judges save should have been used last night. Matt has been off for the past few weeks, and although he has his moments, he cannot touch what is boiling down to a battle of the top big three

I think that if Lil or Anoop had been selected to go home neither would have been saved. I think that Matt has real potential and while he may have selected the wrong song he has style. I download the top performers songs from iTunes every week and I must admit that replaying the songs on in my car radio through my iPod makes a clear statement – I don't listen to Allison or Danny. I love the sounds of Chris, Adam and Matt. There voices sound good on the radio and the others sound like they are trying too hard. I think that regardless Matt will find a music producer and label, he has staying power.

I'm nervous about next week....disco...that's almost as worse as country. The only two I see pulling it off are Lil and Adam....with the disco clothes and dance moves who else can pull it off?
They should have sent him home. He can't sing, he continually mangles songs (Coldplay, anyone?), and without the seventh contestant, maybe they could end their show on time. I think Simon was browbeat into saving Matt, because Matt's sing for your life was terrible. They should have done themselves a favor and saved Alexis weeks ago instead of this forgettable guy.

I think using the save last night was a good idea, considering that the save was only good for 2 more weeks (last night and next week I believe). I think they took a gamble that if they didn't use the save this week, the person that gets booted next week wouldn't be worth saving anyway (i.e. Anoop, since he's consistently been in the bottom 3 the past few weeks and is bound to go home sooner rather than later). But on the flip side, it's going to be heartbreaking (for the contestants especially) next week watching 2 people getting the boot.
Well, it really is irrelevant since we all know who's going to win this competition ADAM and Second in the running will be ALISON. So we can all dispence with the rest of the B.S. All righty then. As Simon would put it. You people are all Self Indulgent. Out.
They made the right choice. They have only 2 weeks left to use it and the same 3 will go that were in the bottom last night. You definitely aren't going to use it on Lil or Anoop. Expect Anoop and Lil to go next week.
What a blunder, Does anyone really think he should have been saved
after lettiing Scott go, no way is he better then Scott. Plus, you will see him in the bottom three again next week probably. Think about it, there are only 7 left and I really don't see him as one of the top four. I belive the judges would have been better served saving that "Save" for a more meaningful moment closer to the end of the compitition and the real talent.
They were running out of time to use the save. This way they look nice and won't have to look like the bad guys when both Lil and Matt or Anoop get kicked off next week. They were confident that those who they feel deserve to be in the final will get there and so they wasted their save...which was originally intended as a safety measure.
The judges wasted their save. Five minutes after he performed Tuesday night, I could not remember what he sang. And that is the sum of his Idol run......as Simon would say "forgettable"...I am constantly forgetting he is even on the show. However, maybe the judges assume that the really great singers are safe no matter what. Who knows.....Wish they had saved their save!

I agree, the save was all about trying to make Idol new and exciting....not serious. Matt was a lame choice for the save, alright voice...but doesn't ever know what songs to choose that fit it. Lil should have been voted off however, although her voice is at times not half bad...she has no potential...and comes off sounding pretty terrible most of the time. Anoop did surprisingly well this week, but still isn't idol material... (god someone pluck his eyebrows!). Kris....eh...... he's a cheeseball. Allison is talented, and has an amazing voice for her age... but she may be a little too young. Adam, he has it all....the talent...the drama, and the ability to change up songs in a new and interesting way, not to mention he's pretty hot...and his appeal looks way is untarnished by being gay... in fact a lot of women love gay men. 😀 Hope Adam wins, he has the total package, everyone else is so boring in comparison it's incredible.
I think that it doesn't really matter, given Simon's (correct) statement that Matt has no prayer to win the competition. It's their gimmick, they used it to try to create an ounce more of buzz, and it's worked.
I was just glad to see Matt, rather than Lil, on the chopping block. Each and every week, Lil gets judged more harshly than any other contestant.
This week, she was reasonably confused by the judges' reaction to her song, and I was glad to see Seacrest give her a chance to talk about it. She followed the advice the judges have been giving her all season, and she got beaten down for it, just like she's been badmouthed by the judges week after week while turning in strong performances, while they coddled lesser talents, Scott being the worst example.
While I don't think anybody's going to catch Adam Lambert this season - he's probably the most talented Idol they've ever had - at least Lil's voice gives her a shot at it, should she suddenly sprout enough charisma to put her into Adam's league. Adam could also throw the whole game by turning in another "Ring of Fire" type performance in the finals.
Nobody cares about Matt's piano skills. He and Allison need to go! They are ok, but certainly not the most talented people on the show. Lil and Anoop will be the final two on the show, justifiably so!!!
ADAM IS HORRIBLE! What don't you guys get? He is a broadway show in a freak costume! He had by far the worst performance last night. He disgraced a classic with his patented high pitch scream that he puts on EVERY SONG!!!!!!! AMERICA, please get over Adam Lambert.
I don't think it will really matter anyways....Matt isn't going to win, along with Lil & Anoop. The final will be between Adam and Danny, and they're not going to be in the bottom 3 anytime soon.

Honestly, I think the Judges made the right call in saving Matt, in the end. This way, next week, there's no WAY Lil Rounds squeaks by, without a miracle, and really. It should have been her to go this week. I dunno HOW she's lasted this long, but she really does have to go.
Beyond that, of who's left, we've got Adam, Allison, and Kris. Those are the top three. Anoop / Matt MAY be able to squeak by and beat Kris, who knows. but I honestly don't think Adam or Allison gets voted off.
And even if they do, hi - does anyone remember Chris Daughtry? As pissed as I'd be, there IS success for the idol non-winners if they're worth a damn, musically speaking.

They may have wasted a save, but the other hopefuls who are likely to be in the bottom three over the next two weeks, (the last weeks judges can use a save) are not worth the save either
I think they made the wrong decision, but not because I don't think Matt is great or that Lil Rounds thinks she's a great diva rather than a great disappointer. I just think back to the season shocker when Melinda Doolittle or Chris Daughtry got voted off at #5 or something like that, and that "save" would have been worth it. I think Matt, Allison and Chris are all underrated–and Danny and Adam way over-rated. Danny Gokey has a great voice but he is not going to be the Idol–sorry ya'll, but he's cheesy, like Taylor Hicks. He might make it to the top two or three, though. If they put him on the gospel train with Scott he will sell records.
Anoop is so nerded out that he will never sell a record. Adam is all pomp and makeup, he screams every song (like Ozzy Osbourne) but I love his range, like Freddy Mercury, so I think he will make it to the top two or three and possibly win. Sorry ladies, but if you have the hots for Adam Lambert, he is gayer than Freddy Mercury. He should choose a Queen song for disco week–I'm thinking "Flash Gordon!"
Allison Iraheta is the dark horse. She is consistent and doesn't have the cheesy or phony factor that lames out so many Idols. I would like to see Allison versus Adam at the end.
I remember listening to Matt's version of Georgia – perhaps the best vocal of the season – although it was short – and i think the judges rememberd that performance when the decided to keep him.
Matt has the talen tthat Danny or Adam have – a different style than adam, that's for sure, but I think he deserves to stick around. I'd like to give him another chance to sing like he did during auditions.

Matt has 9 lives like a cat or staying power like the Energizer bunny. I had this funny feeling that he would be the one that the judges would use their only save on, as he is a very talented and likeable guy. I have been one of his supporters since the beginning (especially since we came from the same small town in Michigan and we graduated from the same high school). I know he will do well in his career because he has the support of so many people. Did you hear how the audience was chanting SAVE when the judges were making their decision last night? I also noticed that he was chosen to drive the car during the Ford video. Must be that Michigan connection!
I think it was all just big drama because what if, God forbid!, they didn't use the much hyped Judges Save?? And by the way, WHEN is someone going to tell the Empress that she doesn't have any clothes. Talk about "pitchy"! Miley Cyrus can not sing. She just does not sing well at all, despite all her head rockin', and glam dress, and father, and the media! Allison, not even my favorite idol, would make mincemeat of that girl in a sing off!

I think Matt is a delightful young man with a somewhat nice talent for church and the neighborhood but I don't think he is Idol material. Certainly he has made this year a good comptition . I always enjoy his performance but only for the pleasure of seeing how he interprets it his way. In the real scheme of things I clearly don't think he has the chops to go all the way, but was interested in how the save was going to work. I have felt this year that the save was torture for all concerned (sort of a pleading for your life) scary in my opinion. True there have been some that were clearly voted off that could have stayed but I am a firm believer in the best will come of it. I loved Jennifer Hudson but look what she did with her vote off. Good thoughts to all.
when simon told matt giraud that he was staying , that was the best moment of the season for me. he was so happy, he cried. one would have thought he had won the american idol and all the other contestants gathered around him and paula ran up the stage to hug him . watching you all season you have showed more inprovement than any other contestant . matt giraud you have my vote

At this point in the competition, the judges shouldn't be able to make a save. Matt deserved to go. Now, he's the loser who the judges stopped from leaving and he'll lose the respect of everyone. Bad move.
FYI- there are billboards in Memphis telling people to vote for Lil, coverage on the news telling people to vote for Lil....etc. Maybe that is why she is staying. Hopefully next week she and Anoop will be gone.

This was a wasted "save". Matt does not have a chance of winning this contest. The save should have been used for someone like Adam in case he would have been voted off early. Now, if an injustice occurs, we all just have to live with it. How unfortunate!
Let's face the facts, not one of the remaining contestants will have a successful music career. Whoever is crowned idol this year will be the next Taylor Hicks. The talent is just not as strong.

Saving Matt was the RIGHT and BEST thing to do. He has only had a couple rough weeks with the wrong song choice, but they have not criticized his voice at all. He has been one of all their faves since the very beginning!!!! Maybe he won't win since Adam really is unusual and talented and unpredictable. But as far as amazing singers go, I agree when the judges say he is much like Justin Timberlake. He reminds me alot of his style and I love it. Matt really did deserve to stay and I am SO GLAD They made the RIGHT decision!!!!! I would love to see the final 3 be Adam, Kris and Matt. Although I think realistically it is going to be Adam Danny and Kris. LOVE ANOOP though and like Danny too. LIL NEEDS TO GO ASAP! She is not getting the hint, she has not had one good week yet, and all she has proved is that she can copycat karaoke a hit song by someone else. She is pitchy and off most of the time, and has no charisma either. Seems like a sweet yet sassy gal, but that is not what makes someone an IDOL. I think they did a good job using the save on Matt. Can someone tell me why they keep saying " take a song and make it your own" and everytime Lil does that, Simon tells her she shouldn't have. I am not that crazy about Lil but in all fairness I don't think she can do anything right in Simon's eyes. If she just sang The Rose like Bette Midler sang it, he would tell her she didn't do anything to make it her own.
Also, I think "wrong song choice" is getting old. Why don't they spend some time with these rookies and give them a lesson in picking the right song.

the judges weren't bound to using the save this season at all so by misusing it for matt next week's double elimination could see shrill lil squeaking by and some worthier person having a rocky night getting dumped – which is what the save was created to avoid in the first place – if matt had gone tonight wouldn't it have been more dramatic if it hadn't been used until next week to pull the rug out from under lil or if used for a kris or allison disco week it couldv'e then led into a double elimination springboarding into the top four...obviously matt's not destined to be around much longer so they didn't really think this through well at all!

anoop has been much better the last couple of weeks. But I can't imagine a disco song where he won't embarrass himself again next week (especially if he tries to dance or be his weird form of "sexy"). Lil has a shot next week, but if her attitude doesn't improve it may finally be bye-bye for her, too.
Adam will once again dominate next week. Can't wait to see what he chooses.

What is going on Idol? First the changes, then the over run of time, then two judges only. Look !! We signed on to hear Cowell, like him or not, and just because the two women YES THE TWO WOMEN ONLY! (and I am a woman, so no sexist comments) can't contain themselves to a few words, we have to suffer the loss of the critique of the only two judges who matter; Simon and Randy (Randy is superb. Let's get back on track ... shall we ? This years Idol has the best singers (artists be damned , they sing, and that is enough) and the judging, the silliness from the judges, the ego of the judges, and the constant changes of the judges is just too much . One bright spot in all of this mess... Someone had the brains to END the grand entrance of the judges as they looked like the brides and grooms of a circus wedding just being announced. Ryan's Loretta Young's grand entraces are enough for anyone to handle. Come on guys, a good show is going in the toilet.

Lil or Anoop dog should go, Matt although I think the save may be a bit premature, didn't deserve to be in the bottom 3. We all know Adam, Danny and Allison should/will be the top 3 but Matt has a good voice, bit too pop-starry boy bandish but a nice tone, good vocals and nice range nonetheless... Matt's only downfall is he is not unique, his vocal sound is not original and doesn't stand out. Allison has the rockish tone, she could front Heart and not be out of place, Adam definitely has the rocker voice, and his highs are so dynamic and metal-ish he is going places no matter what happens to him in the long run. He's going to be big after Idol. Danny also has the voice to take him places as well, plus he is very personable. Kris although the women dig him, also doesn't stand out... Anoop is not very likeable, kind of arrogant and IMHO even though does have a not bad voice, is lackluster at best overall. Lil does have the big gospel voice but week after week picks craptastic sings that does nothing for her overall big voice appeal... All in all, I do like Matt, but he can't win, and the save may be unwarranted if say Allison or Danny somehow get voted off before the top 3 as they both deserve a shot at being American Idol.... I'd wager Adam wins it all though so maybe saving Matt isn't such a bad thing afterall, even if he can't win... I hope next week Anoop and Lil both go home, but depending on how they fair in the disco round maybe they can pull out the comeback. I'd bet Lil does a better job than Anoop next week..

You better believe they made the right decision! Lil absolutely DESTROYED Bette's song...and had the NERVE to actually argue with Simon. I really thought she was outta there! Quite honestly I am shocked she wasn't sent home weeks ago. Lil, you are cute and all but you got to go home!
I believe Simon would not have used the save if he thought that the "save" was going to prove valuable this season. They only had two more opportunities left to use it and Simon would not want to wait until the last possible moment to use it and then choose not to. It would have made the creation of the new "thing" this season moot and thus would have made Simon look like a fool and Simon will have NONE of THAT. It didn't matter who got voted off tonight. Simon planned to use it all along. That's why we're so broke and he's so paid. It was the perfect opportunity to get us all talking about whether or not it was a good idea. Matt or Lil...it didn't matter. Simon can smell money. It's his one true gift.
What a waste of a save. It should have been reserved for a situation where the voting would eject a contestant who was clearly win-capable. At this point the competition is about ranking – and Matt would have been correctly ranked in this group had he left this week. And Lil next week. And then Anoop. And then Gokey, leaving the two most talented contestants.
(Not that I think that Lil is more talented than Matt, I'm merely flipping a coin between the two least talented).
If Allison or Adam were to be voted off "accidentally", for lack of a better word, i think the audience should walk out of the auditorium in protest of this ridiculous save.

Lil should have been 86'd tonight, they have given her enough opportunities. Why prolong the agony?? Anoop is a good singer but no what it takes to be the next idol. It will be Gokey, Adam and Allison.
A lot of people say it was wasted, should have saved it for later, etc... Does everyone realize that last week was the last time the save could have been used? I'm glad it was used on Matt, to be honest... Now there is no chance of saving Lil next week when she is in the bottom 2. Matt isn't the worst contestant left. He certainly is hit or miss depending on the song choice, but that is better for me than Lil, who always seems to miss. Anoop has talent, but not the fan base, so I believe this could be the end for Lil and Anoop next week, and the save could actually land Matt in the top 4 when its all said and done.
I am so glad that the judges used the save on Matt Giraud tonight! He is by far my favorite this year and I would have been sad to see him go. He's an incredibly talented guy and I for one just can't get enough.

Of course they did.. I think whether it was Matt or Lil, the Judges would have probably used the save for a few reasons:
(1) They can only use the save up until the top 5 which means they either use it this week or they use it next week (and chances are if they didn't use it this week – they would never use it)
(2) Because it really doesn't matter at this point (Adam, Kris, Danny and Allison are likely safe next week anyway);
(3) Whether one or two people were to leave next week... the likely result will be that the same 3 will be in the bottom and it will end up being no harm/no foul;
(4) It will motivate the contestants to actually bring their "A" game next week;
(5) Next week is disco week... and simply put – more contestants to torture!!!
Well, that's my opinion and I'm stickin to it.

Now, true, I'm not a 'Matt fan'..but overall I think they should have waited until closer to the end to "save" anybody..like when the viewers vote off Allison, or Danny, or even Adam..any of which would, IMO, be worth the save. Because in the end, all but one is going to be sent packing.
The fact that they seem to know that there's not any chance for Matt to win overall, why save him now? Especially since he'll probably just wind up voted off next week anyway.

They made a mistake tonight. I think that they should have saved the save for Kris Allen, just in case they try to vote him off. I think that he is the best of the bunch, but that's not to take away from any of the other contestants- last week when Lil performed that song (I forget what it is), she sounded just like the artist- that's never a bad thing in my opinion. They've all got extraordinary talent, but I went to the church Kris went to, and I gotta pull for my Arkansas connection.
I have a theory. If they used the save too early and two people are going home next week, the producers might have something up their collective sleeve.
No. The girl should of been kicked off, she is rude, cocky and is not a professional with her big mouth yacking. She knows nothing about the business and should learn and be quite. Soon she'll be snapping her fingers in Simon's face if allowed. OUT! GONE! Waste of our time watching her. If Adam doesn't nail this competition, I'm done with Idol, they found a super star in the making there. this is by far the best talent year ever.
The judges made a big mistake! Matt has had some really good moments, but nothing great since his rendition of "Georgia" during Hollywood Week. For every good performance he has, he has also had one that is average at best. I like Matt, but if he can't win, why save him, except to increase the drama next week.
It will be really funny if Adam gets voted off next week and the judges can't save him! (BTW, I'm betting he sings either "I will survive" or "Stayin' Alive" for disco week!)
I think Anoop is really good, and deserves to be in the top 3 or 4, but I also think that he just doesn't have the fan base behind him to make it much further, regardless of his singing ability. Danny isn't as great as everyone makes him out to be. I think he is getting by on the "Its so sad his wife died" angle. Truly a tragedy, and I feel for him, but his singing ability, while good, isn't good enough. His performance Tuesday should have earned him a spot in the bottom 3, and its not the first time IMHO.
I don't like Adam, but I have to admit, he definitely has a stage presence, and is original enough and talented enough to deserve to win. I don't care that he's gay, I just don't like his style of singing.

I really hope that they do not rush the performances and judge's remarks to fit within a single hour with commercial breaks, esp. for disco night, which is as much about performance as it is vocal. The *rush* of the performance night is what helped to make it so unenjoyable to watch.
Curious what songs will come up - Bee Gees, KC and the Sunshine Band, Chic, Donna Summer, Kool and the Gang, Village People, Taste of Honey.
Adam already did "Play that Funky Music" - we already know what he will do with Disco songs. He will blow down the house again next week. I think Lil' could also do Sister Sledge's "We are Family".

I think they made a wise choice. I like Matt. I know he won't the event, but I bet he has a great shot to get a record deal. I thinkthe two we are going to see eye to eye at the end is Danny and Adam. I can tell you this, everyone that's there now will have some kind of record deal or Broadway . They all have a talent and that's whats going to put them up and over and on TV for a long while to come. Lil, I can see her on Broadway.

The save was NOT wasted! Sure, Matt won’t be the eventual winner, but neither will Lil or Anoop (or Allison, Danny, or Kris for that matter). Matt at least deserves to be in the top 5!

I think Lil should have been sent packing this week. Matt sang badly this week but he does deserve to stay more than Lil. If it will be Disco theme next week, Adam will champion it as usual, I will be a little nervous for Kris and Danny. Surely, Anoop will be gone since he can only sing ballads. Same with Lil and Matt can have the chance to work it out. Allison will also make it.
Let's define "winner" on Idol...!! There are a few good choices, but unfortunately, the judges have shown who they want to be the next "Idol". Matt is a good singer and deserves to be up there.....let's hear from him as long as we can.....second place is good, too ! Winning means you've done your best. Matt continues to show us that's he has a lot of talent yet to be seen.
The save should only have been used if America got the votes wrong (i.e. assumed one of the best was safe and neglected to vote.) In this case, America clearly did not get the votes wrong – Matt was one of the worst of the night. It was totally unfair to save him.
Why waste the save? It's Allison, Danny (if he gets his act together), and Adam. Period. They're all goin' home.
I thought this was one of the better weeks. I thought each of the contestants did well. JMO, but I think there should be no save rule. It was much better when they did not have that.
Adam may win and even if he does not he has a career ahead of him, but I think that either Danny or Allison may be the final two.

I think it is great that they saved Matt.. however... I did not like watching the show without the input of all of the judges. I look foward to hearing them all... and was not happy that we couldn't listen to it all.

Waste of the save, which was the worst idea in the show's history, it saps all the energy from the results. If Adam doesn't win this year I'll never watch again, he's incredible every week and I'd actually buy the album, which would be the first time ever for me buying an idol winner.
I think that with Adam, Allison and Kris around they shouldn't have even bothered with a save. I guess they just wanted to use it because its new and everyone expected them to use it. I was a little upset that I bothered to watch tonight because no one was voted off and I had to endure Miley Cyrus.
Since they can only use the save up until the top 5, they only had next week anyhow to use it up, so why not just use it now?
It doesn't really make a difference, now they will just fire two next week, it will probably be Matt and Lil and we'll move on. Why even have a save? The vote is the way it is, if America didn't like him this week, what makes him think we will be suddenly blown away next week?
Everyone knows actually winning this thing is the kiss of death anyway, better to bow out early and actually have your own career and not some music producer telling you what to sing.
It will be down to Adam and Gokey, both highly overrated singers, with Gokey winning it.

Matt is an excellent singer. Next week he has to give it his all. He has what it takes, he just has to believe it himself.
I don't think the save was used the way it was intended to be used. Matt certainly belonged in the bottom two. The save doesn't have to be used, it's there to save someone who has a shot at winning or at least a shot at entertaining for a few more weeks.
I think it was a smart move on the judges' part, given that they had to use the save either this week, next week, or not at all, which I think a lot of people may have forgotten. They lose the ability to save anyone once it's down to five. It would have been a little anticlimactic to just save whomever was the lowest vote-getter next week, and even more so not to use it at all.
I am a great, great fan of Matt , Chris, and Adam. Danny and Anoop are also very good. Lil ,although talented, has not been able to produce a single night of anything memorable for me. Matt has a personal connection with the audience and is really quite appealing. I was in favor of the save. Glad he will be there for at least another week. Lil is a great singer, but not as good as those surrounding her. She will go on to do well, as will most of them. It isn't really loosing when you make the top 10.
Very disappointed! The guy has been in the bottom three how many times? .... obviously there isn't much of a fan base and using the "save" on someone who easily next week could be gone again is a joke! I now realize that my foolish belief that I was actually contributing to winning vote of "the next American Idol" by staying up late on work nights, to watch a show I used to love......hitting "redial " a hundred times just to cast my vote..... has tonight been made a mockery!

Seacrest said they had only this week or next to use the "save" so I think they did it at the right time. If Matt had been sent packing tonight, Lil will probably be voted off next week and I don't see them using the "save" for her, so yeah, I guess they did the only thing they could do.

We all know that Lil Rounds should be gone, this was without a doubt the most jump the shark moment ever. It was predictable, no way would they mess with the top 5 so this was the last chance to use this ridiculous " save". Of course they were going to use it, why elese did they add it? And this was the last opportunity and they did exactly what anyone with half a brain would have predicted. It is all about ratings, it has nothing to do with actual coting totals.

Yes, the judges definitely made the right choice! I can't believe that Lil was not sent home! She is such a disappointment EVERY week despite her amazing voice, and I HATE it whenever anyone talks back to the judges. And as much as I like Anoop, I'm afraid that I'm getting bored with him. The first 2 weeks he did ballads I was impressed. I'm not so impressed anymore. I want someone who is versatile to win American Idol, not someone who will be pigeon-holed into one genre or type of song.
Matt is versatile (or at least more so than Lil or Anoop), he takes risks, and he is an amazing piano player! I believe he is under-appreciated by the judges much like Kris Allen is. I think next week Lil and Anoop should go home!
Simon had it right. The others should not have celebrated so much. Next week it will be 2 gone and it's highly likely Matt will be one, possibly with Anoop.
Lil continues to be her worst enemy. For the range that she has, she may be the second most talented person there, but she persists in terrible song selections that are not in her best range. With a disco theme, Donna Summers songs may help her.
I don't think any of this matters at all. I think Adam has already won, regardless of where he finishes. Maybe the best Idol ever.
OMG....they so got it wrong here....now I like Matt but if America wasnt feeling him they they just werent. I definetely think he is talented but come on with what is left he just cant keep up.....having said that Lil has to go as well. They used the save on an unworthy choice so they could kick two off next week, thereby saving time and allowing them to stick to the schedule without dumping any sponsors. Much like the show itself, this move was more about television than talent.
I agree with those who said Lil should have gone home. As far as using the save tonight- I think they should have waited but they were faced with a bad choice. IF they were going to use the save at all this season, they had to do it tonight or next week- after that it was off the table. And as much as AI hyped up this new aspect of the show I don't think the producers would have been happy for them to NOT use it. So it was either use it tonight to save Matt or be forced to use it next week on the lowest vote getter- likely Lil. And although Matt doesn't stand any shot at winning the season, he's a better singer than Lil. So I think they did what they had to to avoid having to save Lil next week.

Dumb move. That was the correct bottom three and any (or all for that matter) could have gone home tonight. What if Adam or Allison are in the bottom 2 next week? They are the only ones who TRULY should be saved. Maybe Danny and maybe Kris. This save was supposed to be used if someone was going home sooner than they were supposed to. Matt will be gone next week. Therefore, they should have just let him go now. This save idea was a stupid thing to implement. I have a feeling I am going to be PISSED next Wednesday...
Lil needs to stop trying to sing better than the original, and start singing different than the original. Here's a suggestion, sing a guy's tune, you'll sing it great, and it will be sufficiently original to garner praise for song choice.

OMG! This seson has the least amount of talent out of them all. Everyone knows who is going to win...Adam..but the problem is all he does is SCREAM!!! He will ultimately fall into the same category as Fantasia and Taylor. With rumors that Simon will be leaving one of the three shows that he is on currently and the other two are in Britian it does not take a genious which show he will be leaving. Plus this 4 judge thing is not working at all! The show has run its course and it is time for something new.

I am 50, married, and also think he's HOT and would buy his CD's, as would my hubby, who is NOT gay (but is HOT too!). We think it's his unique approach to the songs that is doing it for him, not to mention his voice. So, we shall see.

Since the "save" is the new feature this year, they had to use it or it would seem like a gimmick idea, not a real rule change. If they didn't use it this week, then everyone would know that they would use it next week, regardless of who was in last place. So this week was the last chance to use it as a "surprise" and thus create buzz. Obviously, Simon did not think Matt was worth saving, but he went along with the publicity stunt.
A better "save" rule would allow a save up to and including the "final three" night, but would not require two to leave the next week. So if the judges thought the wrong two made the top two, the third would get one more week to try to make the top two.
When someone said, "Oh, the judges saved Matt tonight," I thought "Uhhh...who is Matt?"
Long story short: he is forgettable. They wasted the save.
Matt is dyamite when at the piano doing bluesy tunes. Chris is the guy that is totally without charisma...can't see him being any kind of music idol. Lil was great when she first sang...I don't know what's going on with her. She has the chops to be memorable. Alison has a great future in her genre but needs to finish high school.
All that said, Adam is the find of the generation! No one can hold a candle to his voice, charisma and demeanor on the show or any other artist currently touted as a mainstream star!! He's as hot as Elvis was in the 50's!!! Go Adam! I'm sure the managers and record producers are pounding on his door.

Anoop's voice is really amazing and he really sang a PERFECT song...I think he deserves to be in the final 3 and even final 2. As a matter of fact, this week Anoop's performance was in the top 2. Matt, Lil and Chris should go, in that order..

What's wrong with the judges giving a good singer the opportunity to have a few more week in the competition? I think a lot of us now realize that this race is between Danny, Kris and Adam...not necessarily in that order. To use their only save on Matt, who is pretty much mediocre is both a disappointment and a big surprise. He WILL get voted off within the next 3 or 4 weeks anyway, and they can't save him then! The girls are history, that's a given. Anoop and Matt are good, but not good enough. Like I said, this is a 3-man race.

Overall, I was happy with how the results turned out, although I was not expecting Matt to be in the bottom three. I was particularly happy for Anoop, who managed to not be part of the bottom two!
