Top 7: Miley Cyrus sings her latestI have a confession to make.  Sometimes, when my nose is stuffy from my allergies, I try to replicate that nasally thing Miley Cyrus does when she sings "The Climb." Hannah Montana without the wig is rocking a strapless, sparkly dress, grabbing that mike and throwing her hair like she is a for-real singer at an honest-to-goodness concert. How cute is that?!?!? |

What difference does it make wether she can sing great or not,act great or not? She has made millions of dollars,and shoulD quit and enjoy her life,so she does not end up like elvis,or ricky nelson,and all the rest.MILEY,YOUV`E DONE GOOD. Her father is proud of her,thats for sure.
All of the negative comments are going to ruin this song for me. How am I going to endure it at the next 10 talent shows that I attend if I already don't like it? It is supposed to be the next "Wind beneath my wings".
Miley Cyrus is a money-making machine for a corporation that could teach master classes in marketing (Disney). They'll wring every last penny they can from her. Kids like her (perhaps I should phrase this that her show is a hit) and parents like her for her squeaky clean image. Most younger kids have no ability to discern good singing from bad so Miley has no problem selling her music. Personally, I find the sound that comes out of her mouth one of the most unpleasant I've ever heard. If this was my child I wouldn't allow her to embarrass herself that way. Of course, what has to be considered is the musical standard that's been set for her - Dad, Billy Ray. What's sad is that you can tell she's had plenty of vocal coaching and this is as good as it gets. Her appearance on AI shows how this business works - she certainly was not there for her musical talent. Best wishes to Miley in her career as an actress (I can't comment on this as I've never seen her in action).
Don't you people have jobs....or lives? Miley is 16, give her a break! If you don't want to watch or listen, there is always the Mute button or FF your TIVO.
I am sorry but that was a horrible performance by Miley. We were all commenting on the fact that if that is the way she always sings, she would not have had a chance to win American Idol! I guess it pays to have your daddy in the biz. And sorry, when you are in the public eye, you WILL be scrutinized and judged- that is life. If you don't like, get outta the business!
As for everyone that says she can't get a record deal... I think she is doing well considering she has 3 CDs out! And so she can't sing live has anyone ever heard her CD? Listen to some of the "top" artists right now there are very few that can! It's a unique sounds that personally I like. And after the movie I have a lot more respect for her! She is a talented girl that is a great role model for the kids out there!
You people MUST stop hating on Miley. She has more talent than all her haters combined. To the haters: I'D LOVE TO SEE YOU TRY AND ACCOMPLISH EVERYTHING MILEY HAS DONE AND THERE IS A 99.9% CHANCE YOU WILL NEVER GET UP TO HER LEVEL. Miley is extremely talented; and if you have such the nerve to point out every flaw in her- you'll probably find 10x more in yourselves. Here's one- why are you wasting your day criticizing a 16 YEAR OLD?? Get a life, get a heart, and get some talent. You haters are jealous because you don't have half Miley's accomplishments. And 1/2 of the haters on here are between the ages of 14-17 so what would you guys know about PROFESSIONAL talent? The Persian/Iranian singer Shahryar (whom I know) also thinks Miley is blessed with a fantastic voice. My 14 year old daughter who has met Ms. Miley before thinks she has her ups and downs with her voice and life. Miley is NOT a better singer than fellow star Demi Lovato; that girl has about 3 sets of lungs right there. So stop the Miley hate.
The same group of people (tweeners) who made the supremely untalented Miley Cyrus so popular are the same ones judging American Idol contestants. I rest my case.
In retrospect, however, give the people what they want, whether it's bad or good.
Sometimes these comments are a bit brutal....Such angst , people.....But, I guess that is just life, and a lot of pent-up feelings in general. Miley doesn't have the most perfect singing voice, but she is unique to herself and has a lot of personality to go with it. I like the idea that she is a young lady who is making it in her business. Other young people like her quite a bit. She gives them inspiration to carry on if they are so inclined. I hope she is able to keep it real. Don't let the Tactless Comments of seriously demented famous people become too offensive. You have a right to a beautiful life, just the way you are. Preserve your innocence wherever you can! The Best To You!
My 11 year old daughter, who idolizes Miley Cyrus, looked at me after her performance and said, "God, she sucked!!!" She did not have a cold, she can't sing unless a computer genius is doing voice overs on her hideous voice. She will be just like Hillary Duff. When Disney is done with her, she will fade away and we will see her occasionally on the "Where are they now??" shows. She can't sing or act. Her fan following is little girls from 4 to 13 years old. Miley's days are numbered. Oh by the way, I have never seen a singer start head-banging while singing a slow ballad. That looked really weird. She is completely talentless. But she is truely an inspiration to America.....Miley Cirus proves that someone with absolutely no talent can make it big if the right people are pushing the buttons.
Man! Miley was on FIRE! I mean, *literally* on fire! What the heck was up with all that smoke? Did someone order too much dry ice, and figure that he might as well chuck it all in the fog machine?
Was Miley's performance serious last night?
NOT! Left her arm up in the air too long a few times – just to warn us that a big note was comin' up!
Miley is an extremely level-headed young woman at 16, and I hope her success continues to grow. (Her parents should be applauded for keeping her grounded in the real world, too.) However, she is not an entertainer; not a singer. Here is some advice for her which, if taken, will only improve her potential as one:
1. Stop singing through your nose. Your dad has a wonderfully smooth, clear, easily-understood voice because he sings from his diaphragm. You should learn from him or a voice coach.
2. Hire a personal critic if no one around you loves you enough to tell you when you are doing something awful on stage. I saw you trying to do that hair-flip thingy (rock star staple) on another show and you couldn't pull it off there either. Someone who loves you should have stepped up and told you to forget it during rehearsals. Adoring groupies afraid to get on your bad side and being left on the roadside won't tell you (but they will laugh at you behind your back). Your family loves you too much to see you as other than adorable. Screaming fans will forgive you anything, BUT if you don't learn how to perform as a singer, you will be left on the roadside like LeAnn Rimes whose amazing voice wasn't enough to overcome her poor wardrobe choices, movements on stage, or looks.
3. If you don't want to do one and two, go back to what made you famous–acting with a little singing on the side. No one can say you do that poorly.
Why is Miley famous? For what? I sing better than that! (no kidding). Honey, get your hair out of your eyes, quit singing through your nose, and for heaven's sake, wear a dress that actually fits. Bring me Susan Boyle anyday!
Miley is a brand. If thay had put Allison up against her, Allison would have sung her out of the building. I'm sure she is a nice young woman, but puleeze ton't torture us with that screeching again.
Miley's Hannah Montana days are almost over. It's obvious she is trying to transition into being a Country music singer. She has been a presenter and performer on both the CMAs and ACMs. She sang horrible on both of those shows as well. I know country music fans are loyal but they sure aren't stupid to talent. She shouldn't even be singing on the same stage as Carrie, her BFF Taylor Swift and so many other truly talented artists.
Sorry I thought Miley last night was one of the beginning American Idol auditions. As Simon would say, It was Ghastly! I kept thinking it has to get better, but finally just fast fowarded through it. She should be voted out forever. The Tv thing definitely seems better for her than the live thing!
Sorry, Joe....but Adam is the next American Idol. He's the bomb! Adam is the ENTIRE package. Danny's good, but he needs to stop playing his 'sympathy card'. Anoop gets better and better. Lil: home is calling; Chris is too ordinary. Matt deserved to be saved; Allison could very well be runner up. She is in dire need of a wardrobe consultant; what she lacks in good taste, she definitely makes up in talent.
I agree 100% with whoever said Miley's daddy bought her fame. He's nothing but a one hit wonder and so arrogant! I would have loved to hear Simon's critique of Miley's performance. It would have been priceless!!!!!!!!!
Even my 11 year old son hated her performance and he WAS a Hanna Montana fan. Compare her to Allison and Allison wins hands down.
I couldn't understand more than half of what she was singing! Poor enunciation, mumbling. If she was a contestant on the show, I'm sure the judges would pick on her for that as they did on previous shows.
My husband and I asked each other, "what the heck is she singing?" We couldn't understand one word. Maybe her hair was getting in the way of her mouth? Good thing she's got her own thing going because she'd never have passed the judges on AI with that performance.
I agree, Miley's performance was pretty awful (but who am I to say?? I have ZERO singing talent)... And I also agree, she will probably fizzle out pretty quickly once Hannah Montana comes to an end... However, this girl has probably got enough bank right now that her grandkids will be A-Ok!!!! Pretty sure fizzling out to a nobody won't hurt her too much – maybe the ego, but definitely not the lifestyle... Heck, it could quite possibly be the best thing for her if she gets out of the limelight...

I find it amusing that people are always so quick to tear down someone who has something they don't.
I always thought most people had a good heart for the most part, but I can see that alot of you folks do not. Sad that is how society is.

Such a cute kid with such a weird performance! Yippes! I didn't like this at all. She looked uncomfortable in such a grown up dress! I would have like to see her in with something more appropriate for her age. The hair was strange! Especially with that performance!
Why would anybody pay to go see her? Now her dads on her show just because he can't make anymore hit singles she will burn out in another five years and she will be a nobody just like her dad.
And I couldn't help thinking she would never made it past the audition for AI.
And for those of you who have no idea what pitch is, please don't comment on vocal talent or the lack thereof. Please.
I couldn't listen to the whole thing. So she doesn't always sing that way, with the stuffed up nose? Because, aside from her Dad being a megastar, how in dog's name did that child get a recording contract. She's horrible – her demeanor, her pronunciation – sheesh.
I actually like her song climb, but what a terrible performance. Her voice sounded miserable. So bad I had to change the channel while she was singing. I don't understand how you can have Jennifer Hudson and Miley Cyrus sing on the same stage...it's just not right.
Miley can't sing, but so what. With Disney Inc.'s marketing muscle behind her and the Jonas brats, they can flood every screaming pre-teen's wish list with all the assorted overpriced shlocky merchandise and cash in.
"Package artists", aka seen as pretty and marketable, without a lot of singing ability, save the overly post-processed recordings they need to lip-sync to.
Miley's shrieking is enough to make ears bleed.

Lil and Anoop should have gone a long time ago. I can not believe they lasted this long. Adam rocks! He is in a class of his own.
Good thing for the "tweens," because if it was up to people who actually know talent, Miley Cyrus would still be at home with the folks. She can't sing but makes enough noise the the kids think she can. I can't even stand to hear her talk – her voice is annoying.
Miley used to have a cute little girl voice, but her post pubescent voice is pretty bad. Same thing happened to Spears. (So Spears whispers all her songs). No amount of voice lessons would help, she just isn't a singer anymore then Paris Hilton is a singer. In the studio they can use 'auto tune' to fix the tracks, but live is a problem. And yes, someone please find her a hair brush. That performance was hard on the ears.
Now can anyone tell me why this talentless snit of a child got more air time than the contestants? Not one word was enunciated clearly, she obviously has no more than a passing knowledge of how to use a hairbrush and the noise was unbearable. Her dad should buy her different toys --–of course there is this for future contestants to consider – if you sound like Jennifer Hudson by all means apply NOW, if you are a Miley sound-alike please GO AWAY
I thought she looked beautiful at the start of the performance and then all that head tossing made her look like she just woke up after a rough night of partying. The song was beautiful in parts but when she hit those nasally sections it was really off putting to say the least. If she could control that, she'd be a great singer because her voice is really pleasant at times.
Miley CANNOT sing. I don't know who told her she could.
Her Dad thinks she can. But her performance on Idol last night was very Sick.
By the way; both Matt and Lil must go next week. Everyone is pretty sick of those two.

I love the song the climb....but the overall performance ot the song sucked. she was cracking trying to hit notes she could not hit. She went flat on alot of notes. IDK she just sucks singing live the record company does wonders on her songs.
Sadly, I would not have voted for Miley to stay on the show if she was a contestant. I keep hearing all this excitement over her, but this performance was bland and nasally. She is very pretty, but the voice, ouch.
When all the smoke clears, the only ones left standing will be Lil and Anoop. Everybody else may as well go home now, Especially Miley, Matt, and Adam!
Miley is just TERRIBLE! The only thing she is even passable as is an actress, and that's still walking the line.
I saw just enough of her "performance" to see if it was going to be as bad as I had thought. And it was. Why have a "singer" on as a guest that probably wouldnt have made it past the Hollywood round if she had been a contestant. Thank goodness for DVR. The fast forward option is awesome.

Miley is not a good singer, period. She is a lovely young woman with an appeal to young girls. To put her on Idol, and have her sing, her poor voice stood out, way out.
Whats really sad is that the booking agent for the show thought it was a good idea putting her on with the likes of Jeniffer Hudson. Miley is a production of the Disney Money Factory, nothing more. She got the part of playing a singer. This and all the teeny-bopper fans gave her the mind set that she can actually sing when she can't.
Now they put her on a show full of nothing but real singers. What a contrast. I'd vote her off in the first round and vote on that ugly British singer who sang "Time goes by" thats been playing on You Tube. Now that's a singer!

I dont understand the thrill with Miley – what with the nasal thing? She really cant sing! When the thrill of Hannah Montana is over – which it will be soon... Miley will fade away, just like her Dad ...and he is just riding on her skirt tails at the moment...
I wish them well, but really why have her on American Idol, the remaining contestants are all better then her! Im sure Simon would have had some not so nice words to say about her performance! ... I would guess he would say something like " you get all dressed up nice, then you sing through your nose and rock your head like your at an AC/DC concert"

am i the only one who thought miley sang well. i must be tone deaf but i enjoyed her singing. she is sweet and so nice. i dont like adam. he scares me so does matt. i love lil. i cant wait for her to sing next week.
Miley was absolutely unbearable. She was screaming and pitchy. And what with the messy hair? If she's trying to look like a rocker, it doesn't get close. She's definitely over-rated...sorry.
Why was she batting her head around like she's head banging to an 80's rock song? The tassled hair....not attractive. The voice......one of the worse in the history of American Idol. But she has pretty eyes.
Anyone who thinks Miley Cyrus doesn't have talent...please raise your hand if you actually do. She has more talent than most of the child stars produced by Disney, and she's most certainly not tune deaf. I'd like to see what your idea of that is.
The whole "making fun of Asians" thing needs to stop as well. I'm Chinese and wasn't for a second offended by it. It's one thing to do it out of spite, but for pete's sake there was an Asian guy in the photo. My friends and I tease each other all the time for our religious/cultural differences, no harm done. She's 16 and this is what teenagers do. This photo never should have been leaked to the public, because it's none of our business. Just like your personal photos aren't either.

who is this commentator, and why does she get to write for this blog? miley is god-awful, and it has perplexed me for the last year why she is so popular. it definitely is not for her vocal talents, or lack thereof. the remaining 7 people are infinitely more talented than miley.

Man, you guys are huge haters. Hate all you want, but this girl has a hit show, movie, and has got some talent. Is she the best singer in the world? Of course not. Is Mick Jagger? No. Ozzie? No. The Beattles? No way. She is obviously not on their level, but c'mon, a voice is not everything and through all your hate you all know that. If voices were all that mattered, we would all be listening to the talent in operas and broadway shows, instead of watching American Idol. that is the real irony here, people talking about her not having talent watching a karaoke contest.
All I can say is thank you to the people who invented the "commercial skip" feature and put it in my DVR so that I can use it as needed. Somebody needs to introduce this girl and her PR people to concept of over-exposure and it's effect on no-talent celebrities, oh wait, maybe she should just take a good honest look at her father...

Okay, I usually am cool with Miley Cyrus. I'm not a fan, but I'm also not her target audience and I can usually say she's pretty fun or moderately talented.

This girl has talent at age 16......tremendous talent, which is most than whatever any of you had at that age. She's still so very young, and with great potential. Yes, her Daddy is pushing her... but she pushes herself too because she seems to enjoy what she's doing. No one is forcing her to do anything. If you don't like her..... so be it. if her songs are not to your liking..... then move on. There are plenty of other things to concentrate on than bashing a 16 year old.

Miley sucks as a singer and is a self-indulgent actress. She sounds like a horrible female version of Bob Dylan. We were laughing hysterically at the fact that she is so bad and the fact that American Idol is struggling so much to get decent, worthy performers on elimination night. Kudos to Hudson, though.

I like the song "The Climb" however Miley needn't scream out the lyrics. I think the song would sound much better if she sang it with a softer tone. I guess singing with a soft sweet voice comes with training and maturity, which I think she needs.
But with that said, I think that most people who are overly critical of her are just jealous because she is so famous and successful at a very young age.
But in music and in Hollywood it isn't what you know it is who you know that helps you succeed in that industry. And because of her father and his connections she has come to know the right people.

I hope Miley is getting vocal coaching. She's still way too young to have a good mature voice but I think she has real potential. I think she could be really good someday. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought she was singing through her nose. I'm very fortunate that my daughter is too old to have ever liked the Hannah Montana craze so I really hadn't heard her sing much. Don't know what all the fuss is about.
Ewww..she can't sing at all...ANY SONG AT ALL.. Her father's trying to relaunch his career with her as well..If she can get a record deal, than I have high hopes for myself. What's tragic about Idol this season are the pre-taped or lip-synched performances. Miley herself blogged about recording her idol performance earlier in the week. TRAGIC!

Miley Cyrus is an extremely talented young lady. Her performance tonight on "The Climb" was fabulous. I'm glad she seems grounded and "real" unlike a lot of young celebrities whose heads and egos are as big as their bank accounts. I wish her a life time of success and happiness.
