Top 7: Jennifer Hudson returns to 'American Idol'

I love Jennifer Hudson, I really do.

Jennifer Hudson

I am so proud of her success, especially given that she was eliminated so early in her competition.

It must feel great to come back having had so much success. She's certainly shown that talent will win out in the end.

She looks absolutely gorgeous performing her new single, "If This Isn't Love," and she makes Ryan look teeny-tiny, as always.

Much love for snagging an Oscar, a Grammy and returning to "Idol" to show how well you have done for yourself. Work it out J-Hud!!!

She has achieved what most of us wannabe's can only dream of. Still after reading over the comments, her attitude should have been slightly more humble. But the girl can blow and rejection hurts. Maybe we should remember that as we are so negatively critsizing her for what she should have done. As a woman with no vocal ability whatsoever, it was good to see her in the spotlight, where she belongs. When you've walked in her shoes, then you can say what she should have/should not have done.

I can say she is the only one to make it further than American Idol could ever get her. Oscar and Academy awards and to star in Dream Girls, and co star in Sex in the City. I have not seen no other AI contestant make it farther than her.

    You go JH!!!

Not real impressed with her, sorry, I must not have any musical taste. I think she's very good but nothing extra special.

Jennifer seemed nervous and the performance was not her best. I imagine she must have been an emotional wreck on the inside. The last time she was on the set of American Idol, her family was alive – I will chalk it up to that. As far as her talent, she's proven herself on stage, on film and I know she will continue to have success.

Jennifer had to endure a loss like knowone should every have to.

However, her voice was pitchy and sharp, and what a DIVA she has become.

She should be grateful for Idol giving her the exposure, she would not have broken thru on her own. Both Carrie Underwood and Kelly Pickler understand that. Jennifer, still has a resentment, because people dared to vote her off.

I hope she can get past her demons as I would like to see her growup.

I believe the multiple awards she has won(34) is all she needs to know that she has arrived. We tend to equate success to being a diva which is not the case with her. She was a casualty of lame listeners and voters while on the show. She has more talent in her lil finger then all the people that went farther in her respective time on Idol combined.

She has said time and time again that she is grateful to Idol. She understands there would've been no success without it. I remember her garnishing the most praise on the episode she was voted off(SImon included). She realizes it wasn't the producers that voted her off, and that it was the same Idiots that voted Taylor Hicks America's Idol.

She has nothing to prove to you, me or anyone else she has arrived!!!

I thought she did a GREAT job, but her performance did make me a little uncomfortable. Was it just me, or did it seem as though something DEEPER was happening? She didn't get any special lighting, special effects, or ANYTHING! Something wasn't right about that....

First of all, my heart goes out to Jennifer Hudson due to the loss of her family members. How tragic and sad. As for Jennifer Hudson as an artist, when I close my eyes, I like her. When I open them, I see this pre-mature Diva. She is not there yet. She speaks so un-educated. The stylist needs to step back for a moment and let a speach therapist step in. Geez girl...your a national television.

There was something off with the audio. Jennifer didn't sound good for the first half of the song and she kept fiddling with her ear monitor which distracted from her performance. She may be a Grammy winner but will she last?

I'm still trying to understand what people mean by "Jennifer gets the last laugh"? American Idol gave her the opportunity to get where she is. Yes, she was kicked off early but that was by people who voted/didn't vote. The judges didn't kick her off. AND not winning Idol gave her the chance to do what she wanted.

Sorry, but I don't see the big deal about Hudson's singing. Granted, she's had a hard time and I feel for her, but I miss what everyone else is seeing, I guess. For that matter, Miley can't sing either. i didn't watch Idol the season Hudson was competing, but maybe the voters and the judges felt the same way I do?

I was completely dismayed and disappointed to see the judges sit through the standing ovation the crowd gave Jennifer; not one stood up. She came back to that stage w an Oscar, a GRAMMY, and the tragedy she endured just 6 months ago, and the judges couldn't stand up for Miss Hudson!! What's up with that? I think she noticed, and I think it hurt. Why diss her this way?

Nice to have the last laugh, isn't it Jen. Congratulations on your triumphant return to the AI stage. You're the reason they implemented this season's judges' save. Too bad it wasn't in place when you were competing. But it's all good. To God be the Glory!

J-Hud? Really? Can we declare the era of this kind of appellation officially over? Please?

I need to watch this, because what I've seen of Jennifer Hudson has left me thinking she has an ego almost as large as she is. Hopefully she's changed, but I doubt two major awards have made her more humble.
